Arcana-Negating Clawed Gauntlet - (Armour-Armor)

Description:

A single elegant gauntlet wrought of a strange metal, silver in color and glimmer, of medium weight. Each joint is expertly articulated, its fingertips ending in finely honed talons, while the segments' edges are decorated with tracery designs of Northern symbology. It serves as a normal piece of armor, and potential weapon with its claws, however its most important feature is found at the center of the palm: a single shard of amber, carefully embedded in the metal. This amber, a piece of the magic-cancelling item once made by the Time Lord, still carries its ability. Thus allowing the wearer to begin unraveling magic (or magical creatures) it comes in contract with over a period of time--functioning like a poison, growing more potent the longer the exposure. However, as Hildegarde too is a magical creature, she is limited in her uses of the gauntlet. For while the metal is specially chosen to protect her, it is not a perfect shield, and she too will be harmed should she keep close to the amber for extended times. Satoshi's gifts are ever double-edged.

History:

The amber shard that makes this gauntlet unique possesses a long history. It originates as part of a large amber gem set into an unassuming necklace. Save that this necklace was created by the Time Lord Vuryal for the purpose of halting magic in any who wore it. Zeneth was one of these prisoners, and eventually the necklace she wore found its way into the Engineer Cerinii's hands. Upon the engineer's death, she gifted it to Satoshi to safeguard or destroy. Satoshi chose to destroy it, using Asorial's point to pierce the amber stone, which then split into three chunks. Its power was not broken, however, and proved able to undo the weaves of any magic (or magical creature) it touched for long enough. One chunk was used in this way to fell Ishataulak the Grey, another went into Kasyr's care, and the last Satoshi later took to the artificer nomads outside Frostmaw. It was there the amber was worked upon and broken into five shards, still potent in their ability to unravel magic. One of these shards was dropped into Lake Frysta to purge it of Bozrah's taint, thus ending the Ice Plague infecting Frostmaw. A second was used to forge Hildegarde's gauntlet. What became of the rest?
