All About Jolie
Sineater.
Blessed or cursed? The life of a sin eater isn't an easy one. Blessed, perhaps - eating the sins of the dead, consuming the darkness that weights the soul before its departure - surely that's a blessed gift? But a curse - because in eating the sins, she must also know them, and shameful secrets are exposed...
This rare - almost unique - gift was never meant to be used on the living. When it is, depending on how much sin is consumed, even the very worst sinners are at risk of losing their memories or their minds, perhaps so far as becoming lunatics convinced of their own saintliness.
What she does with the darkness she consumes is her own business.
Necromancer.
She was always drawn to the strange and unusual... The art of raising and communing with the dead was bestowed upon her in childhood, against her will. Finally accepting her fate, she delved into three centuries of learning her craft.
Recently and for a time, she acquired the Forsaken Book of the Dead, a terrible relic tome, and gleaned from it a slew of long-forgotten necromantic knowledge.
Career Woman.
The Dark Lands are not the most nurturing environment for a human child. Having been forced from her local family home by unfortunate necromantic accident, the young Joliette found her way to the dark alleys and inhospitable dives of Vailkrin City.
Taken in by the arch-criminal Forsaken Elf known as Garath, she learned all the arts of survival on those meanest of streets. How to kill. How to steal. And learned, too, to leave weaknesses such as mercy and remorse behind.
But she was never an evil child and kindness is not unknown to her three centuries later. Especially if it's likely to lead to her being owed a favour, or a coin.
Clan Leader.
The Eldritch Cabal is a loose group of miscreants which Joliette thinks of as a kind of 'family', in her own warped and special way. An eclectic bunch with no apparent reason for any sort of unity, nevertheless they share a bond that might not be easily understood - but is never easily broken.
Magister Templi
Holding rank within a Guild looks to be an exciting new role for the necromancer. She is looking forward to bringing the Necromantic Arts to a more active and organised place within the Mage's Guild.
Tavern Keeper.
How -did- she end up owning the Hanging Corpse? Nobody really remembers. Something about a deed... possibly a knife.
Anyway, she's owned it for quite some years now, and employs both travellers and locals. Turnover is high, due to the mysterious and alarming frequency at which the tavern's casual employees tend to go missing.
