The Rangers

From HollowWiki

Overview

The Rangers are, in its current iteration, a fraternal order of hunters. It exists to unite and support the many trackers, scouts, survivalists, and frontiersmen that roam Hollow's wide wildernesses, offering a network of resources and comrades to the often-too-solitary ranger. Furthermore, those persons and organizations requiring the help of the Rangers should approach the Primal Circle or The Warden first.

Eligibility

Any member of The Rangers must suit the spirit of the organization. For fair and obvious reasons, The Rangers recruit with a preferential eye toward rangers; however, this is not to say that other classes are excluded automatically or without just consideration.

The Rangers are a subdivision of the Adventurer's Guild. Membership within both is preferred but not required.

Contact Us

Players interested in joining The Rangers should contact The Warden – Magikrios. Members who have reached the rank of Master of the Hunt may also assist with recruiting.

Rules

Simply and briefly, Rangers are required to -

  • be cordial to all persons, accept judges' rulings, respect administration, obey Hollow's rules, uphold Hollow's setting, diffuse OOC conflict, use common sense, and generally maintain upright standing.
  • be active, take part in The Rangers RP, and record related RPs on wiki.
  • accept hierarchy and abide by one's assigned rank.

Please remember, a little teamwork goes a long way. Our leadership trusts we can all do our part to make the game great together. Err on the side of caution, and seek qualified clarification before initiating or participating in any questionable activity.

Hierarchy

As follows are, in ascending order, the ranks of The Rangers. Please know that ranks are to be attained in order, beginning with Prospective Hunter, via logged RP.

Prospective Hunter

During this probationary period, prospects are given time to hone some of their wilderness skills and gain incremental exposure to the ranger's ways. All potential recruits require a sponsor and once sufficient skill has been demonstrated, sponsor’s may elect to take on Prospective Hunters as their apprentices. Once promoted to Apprentice Hunter, prospects will be official members of The Rangers.

The total number is RPs that need to be submitted to reach each rank is as follows: 9 RPs for Journeyman, 6 for Apprentice, and 3 for Rookie.

  • Apprentice:
  • Journeyman:

Apprentice Hunter

Apprentice Hunter, the first official rank within The Rangers. At this level, it is expected members still have much to learn and they are still required to work with the guidance of their sponsor. When the sponsor believes it is time, the recruit undergoes some kind of strenuous trial to serve as a ritual rite of passage. The trial's tale and trophies are presented to the Primal Circle, and recruits are then, if given the Circle's approval, permitted to be formally admitted into the ranks as an Apprentice Hunter.

The total number is RPs that need to be submitted to reach each rank is as follows: 18 RPs for Journeyman, 15 for Apprentice, and 12 for Rookie.

  • Rookie: Lhyrin
  • Apprentice:
  • Journeyman:

Professed Hunter

Following the profession, the hunter's requirement to be sponsored officially ends. They have demonstrated sufficient skills in land navigation, wilderness survival, and have shown themselves adept at hunting and demonstrated a healthy respect for the balance in nature.

The total number is RPs that need to be submitted to reach each rank is as follows: 27 RPs for Master, 24 for Guardian, and 21 for Journeyman.

  • Journeyman:
  • Guardian:
  • Master:

Master of the Hunt

A hunter's mastery is recognized upon the following criteria: a suitable stock of tales and trophies, familiarity and ability in the wild, and a deep loyalty to his/her fellow hunters. At this rank, hunters are no longer tied to their sponsors and may sponsor new prospects of their own. Beyond being responsible for recruitment, they are expected to live up to their title--this means scouting out mighty prey and leading their fellow rangers in great, songworthy hunts. Masters of the Hunt are held to exemplary standards.

The total number is RPs that need to be submitted to reach each rank is as follows: 40 RPs for Master, 35 for Guardian, and 30 for Journeyman.

The Primal Circle

The innermost sect of The Rangers, the Primal Circle serves as part of the governing body. The Circle approves apprentices for profession, they recognize when a hunter has attained mastery, and, beyond all this, they themselves are still expected to fulfill the obligations of a master. A seat within the primal circle is a grave position indeed, and these secretive few discuss long among themselves before allowing a fellow master to be drawn into the Circle’s esoteric fold.

The number of RPs is only one factor in determining who is promoted to this rank. More important, is the confidence of The Warden in these members.

The Warden

The Warden is responsible for the Rangers' sect of the Adventurer's Guild. The Warden dedicates their life to the conservation and management of wildlife by monitoring hunting activities throughout Lithrydel to encourage ethical hunting and monitors the population of species to prevent overhunting. They also reserve the right to veto any decision made by the Primal Circle. The Warden is exemplary in demonstrating respect for nature and the need for natural balance. The Warden also provides support when it comes to recruiting and training new members, assigning missions, and handling rank promotions. Even though the Warden heads the Rangers, they still work closely with the leader of the Adventurer's Guild to provide support when needed.
