Scenic View
Oh, the view! You think to yourself, as you overlook this cliff. You feel no fear from this great height, due to the amazing view down the mountain, to a tree-filled valley. From here you can see a large park, with people eating and playing sports of all kinds, as well as rolling hills and a large fountain. Beyond that is the great Xalious Tree, the incarnation that the god of the same name has taken. Also visible from here is a small village resting in a valley in between the mountains, and above that the great Mage Tower, the training place of the spell casters. You think you could stay here forever, taking in these wonderful sights, but you must press on soon. Off to the east, you notice a small hut in rather shoddy condition, probably unused for quite some time. In a quiet corner is a tiny little grave, freshly dug surounded by many flowers, the majority of them being baby's breath and and crisp fresh purple roses. All of them left in tribute for what you expect was a very young soul. A roughly carved statuette of a young feline is here, with, - You will not be forgotten' engraved in the base

Chaine vs. Victoria

Victoria stands before her opponent in the majestic landscape, the view from this scenic view quite spectacular to behold. But even the pleasant surroundings are lost upon this mage as she loses herself in her castings. Harlequin shaded eyes lock upon Chiane's form as the words of arcane magic pour from Victoria's lips with startling ease, the woman's slender hands working to shape and form sigils and runic symbols that give life to the magic that runs through her. Within moments the woman's lithe frame is enveloped in an emerald aura, her hands are held up before her as the spell reaches its climax, the result being the formation of an earth elemental appearing before Chiane. The creature takes on a rough humanoid shape, to about waist level, and reaches out with arms made of stone to attempt to grab its intended target's ankles and drag her down into the earth below. The creature moves with incredible speed, and if Victoria's adversary is not quick, she may find herself lost beneath this scenic view, swallowed by the power of Victoria's summoned servant.

Chaine held her left hand close to her chest, the digits swathed in bandages from some past injury, as she stood across the cliff from Victoria. The mage looked formidable enough, the scientist noted, and right on cue Victoria's spell was worked. The golem advanced with frightening speed, enough to impress Chaine if not actually shock her into hesitation. Using her good right hand she reached down to the ground, bending to kneel and placing her palm onto the ground, fingers splayed. With a moment of concentration, Chaine sent out a brain wave into the ground that had spawned the tiny creature. She thought of the chemical structure of the cliff face, the atoms and molecules arranged in precise ways. Then, with a single thought, she changed the molecular structure, realigning them to make a wall of diamond spring forth from the rock. The diamond was not thick, perhaps a thumb's length in depth, but it was enough to stumble Victoria's working and stop him in his tracks. The diamond cracked and splinted from the force, but Victoria's earthly creation crumbled on impact. Then, with a glint of her eye underneath her hood, she sent another thoguht to the splintered mineral wall. IN another instant, and with only the slightest crackle of discharging energies, the diamond splinters broke apart and began to rain down on Victoria, ready to slice her to ribbons.

Victoria watched as he earth elemental was destroyed so easily, but has no time to waste upon her remorse as she has a blast of diamond shards coming her way. Once more does the terramancer turns to her castings, focusing upon the earth below her as once more she dives back into her castings. Both hands are turned so that the palms face up, and with her next spell completed, Victoria seems to lift from the ground a wall of granite some four feet thick just as the diamond shards get within range. The first bit passes by this earthen shield, and puncture and tear her newly acquired robes to shreds, staining them crimson with her own blood. But if Chaine thinks this will stop her, she is sourly mistaken. Now with a display of her own power, Victoria concentrates upon the granite wall before her, as well as the diamond shards that litter the battlefield. With these in her thoughts, Victoria clenches her fists and causes her shield to shatter in rubble. Then, twirling her hand in a circular motion, she creates from the debris a small cyclone of small stone and diamond shards that she then unleashes upon Chiane with malicious intent. If Chiane is not careful, she will find herself trapped within this vortex, and face two serious dangers. One being the stones that now travel at very high speeds all around her, and the most dangerous being the diamond shards that are now mixed in with the very air itself. Should the scientist now find a way out, she will either be pummeled to death, or torn to shred, if not on the outside, then from the inside when she breathes in the air that is now littered with the razor sharp diamond shards…

Chaine gave a quiet cheer of satisfaction as the first bombardment of diamond shards pierced Victoria's earthen shield, then the mage herself. This gratification was short-lived though, as her opponent's next working made itself apparent, and all too quickly what could only be described as a rock-diamond tornado began making its way towards the scientist. Chaine did what she could to stop or slow the vortex before it hit her: she closed her eyes and furrowed her brow, intense thought-lines appearing in Chaine's pale sweat-covered forehead. She reached her thoughts out to the rocks and diamonds in the vortex-- a not altogether unimpressive feat, considering they were already the focus of another's magic-- and enacted her will upon them- she broke apart the bonds holding the molecules of rock together, turning them instantly into silicate and carbon dust. This did not stop the torrential swirling tornado though, as now miniscule bits of rock swept her off of her feet and scratched and tore at her. Chaine beld from a billion tiny cuts in her skin, but refused to cry out with pain (though she wanted to). From here, however, she had a prime vantage point from which to aim at Victoria: Chaine brought up in her mind the gases around her, the floating oxygen and carbon molecules released by the vortex. THinking hard, she fused carbon atoms to single oxygen atoms and formed a clear, odorless missile of carbon monoxide in the air. She sent this arrow of gas straight for Victoria's head, hoping to asphyxiate her.

Victoria could not believe how this person was so able to defeat every attack sent her way, and as the carbon monoxide missile is sent her way, Victoria simply continues with her terramancy and dives back into her castings yet again. The drain upon her is apparent now, as beads of sweat can be seen dripping from her brow, not to mention the several slashes she received from Chaine's first attack are still bleeding, sapping away at her strength and resolve just that much more. But, even in the face of such adversity, Victoria continues onward. The gas is indeed a dangerous element, but quick thinking has the mage creating a pillar of stone that sends her high into the air and well above the projectiles reach. From her new height, Victoria goes to casting her final spell. Her eyelids close, and as her lips part the earth begins to rumble and moan in protest. It seems the entire area begins to shake violently, to the point that it cracks and tears in various places with such force that what few trees are here are uprooted and fall over. Chiane has found herself in the middle of an earthquake, and if she is not quick to find some kind of escape, she will either be crushed in between the shifting mounds of earth and stone, or fall to her death in the valley below. Either way, it seems the earth itself has made Chiane its target, and if she is not careful, she will be devoured in this mighty display of earth's wrath.

Chaine dropped from mid-air, landing flat on her back as the force of the vortex abruptly died away. The air was knocked out of her and she had a small concussion, but nevertheless Chaine got to her feet once more (albeit woozily) to receive the next onslaught of earth magicks. And she did not have long to wait, for as soon as her own dizziness ceased, the earth replaced it with its own pitching and yawing. The very ground Chaine stood on threw her this way and that, leading to a fault line that opened up right beneath her feet. Chaine threw herself to one side, stumbling about like a drunk as she fought to maintain her balance but successfully avoiding falling into the fault. Her eyes wouldn't focus, even looking through her spectacles, and her head felt heavy-- it was only a matter of time before the scientist fell, and hard. Acting desperately, Chaine reached out with her mind and caused a blinding white light to shine out over the cliffside. Though the light itself would only momentarily blind Victoria, this was only a side effect; Chaine's true intentions were to find the right wavelength of light so as to stimulate the growth of the grass beneath Victoria's feet. Instantly the vegetation on the cliff began to grow at an alarming rate. The blades of grass twisted and writhed towards Chaine's unnatural light before slowly moving towards Victoria's abdomen, throat, legs… They leapt to bind the mage, moving to squeeze the life from her.

Victoria looks down and wonders how grass grew from granite, and how this scientist was doing suck amazing spell casting of her own. She was semi blind during this of course, but her high vantage point allowed for a quick recovery from the visual assault. It seemed Chiane had managed to somehow balance herself through an earthquake, and take very minimal damage. Commendable, to say the least. But, seeing no immediate threat to herself, Victoria causes her granite pillar to slide back down into the earth, allowing her freedom from the ever growing grass as it is sucked back down into the dark chasm along with the pillar before it got a good hold on the terramancer. She stands now, looking about at the ground, which is torn asunder by this battle, and sighs, using the last bit of her magical stamina to fix what damage she had caused. This was a sacred placed afterall…
