History

Aelfulf Senitaas was born three hundred fifty four years ago to Ethelred and Aelfgif Senitaas, high elves of noble birth. His family line stretches back to the Crown Wars, and is an offshoot of the royal family, through a second son of the king who married a noble woman and founded the Senitaas name. Needless to say, they are very wealthy; their family manor is lavish and sprawling, and trade ships bearing their personal emblem (a crescent moon, draped with grape vines) can often be found traversing the ocean, loaded with fine wines and other valuable goods.

Aelfulf was groomed and trained for a military career from birth. His father's wealth and status ensured that his training was the best available, so that as he grew, tactics and combat skills were ingrained in his mind. The boy showed great prowess at such things as he aged, excelling in every task put to him. Naturally, when he reached adulthood, he joined the Rynvalian military. Because of his training, he started out as a low-level officer, in charge of inspecting imports and exports at the docks. Soon bored with this, he paid off the right people and was reassigned to the border guard, where he led small troupes of men against marauding ogres from the north. He so excelled in this that he earned a promotion, and was soon transferred to the navy, where he served as a first mate on board an anti-pirating vessel. After a few years, he was again promoted, and given command of a ship of his own. His success in past endeavors was exceeded by his naval career within a short amount of time, as he brought many pirates to justice. So, when the Archmosian Empire invaded, he was again promoted, given a small squadron to command in the naval battles. There, Aelfulf felt defeat for really the first time in his life, and he felt it badly.

His squadron was crushed, and his flagship destroyed, its shattered remains left to float aimlessly in the sea. Aelfulf himself was cast up on a small island, far away from the shipping routes. Nearly dead from thirst and exposure, only his instinct for survival saved his life. It was there, all alone, that Arkhen came to him. Through contemplation and meditation, the high elf came to see the god's nature and goals; goals which corresponded with Aelfulf s own convictions. He became aware of Arkhen's role as a sky god, husbanding the earth, setting things aright with rain and light and, at times, with natural disasters. And in Aelfulf, Arkhen saw a tool with which to restore balance and order to a world tipped dangerously toward chaos. The two grew very close and, in the end, the elf bent a proud knee, and hailed the god as his liege.

Aelfulf built a boat for himself, using the trees on the island, and set sail. A storm blew up, and drove him toward Cenril, the rain and waves battering him until he was barely conscious. Finally, though, he made land, and worked his way westward, driven by some subconscious urge. As he fared, he did whatever work he could find to pay for food and lodging. At last, he arrived in Kelay where, worn and weary, he stumbled into the tavern.

Happenings, Recent and Current

He has stayed here on the mainland, troubles with the evil he found distracting him from returning home – along with perhaps a bit of shame on account of his defeat. He does plan to return, however, when the time is right.

He has reclaimed an Elven Moonblade
