Part of the How to Train your Wizard Arc

  • Kasyr, Vampire Revanant, Kensai.
  • Satoshi, Kit-vampire, Frost Singer.

Svilfon tips his hat to the Kensai.

Kasyr is meandering around, though not with some diasterous scene of carnage in his wake. No, the vampire has his nose in a book, of all things.

Satoshi wishes she had her nose in a book, rather than a voodoo-frog-created winged goat chewing on the hem of her coat. Kicks have done little to deter the stubborn bastard. "I swear, you're bait for demon-goat..."

Svilfon brushes more snow off his robes as he mutters, "Give him wings, we say. Make more of them..." He flashes the goat a glare. "At least it's taking a shining to you. Unlike..." He coughs, unwilling to speak of yesterday's horrors.

Kasyr is still quite oblivious to what exactly is going on, apparently failing to really register the exchange going on around him. Whatever the contents of the book the guardian is reading, they must no doubt be quite rivetting- though quite likely questionable, given the fact that the book has a fleshy appearance, and exudes a distinctly unpleasent feeling. Still, whether by fate or chance, the vampire's still moving towards his coven mates- never a beat missed, or a step misplaced.

Satoshi relinquishes her coat to the damnable goat (damn, that rhymes) and hastily shuffles a safe distance away, with a wizard strategically placed between herself and the animal. Not that the winged livestock seems to care, happily barking as it continues to gnaw on fabric. Satoshi huffs in annoyance and silently begins musing on ways to end the lives of both the pesky goats in her life when she spies the approach of a kensai. Hooven beasts forgotten, the kit moves to sidle up alongside Kasyr and attempt to peer over his shoulder at the eerie book that's stolen his attention so. "What's that~?"

Svilfon drops himself to a seated position on the snow. He eyes the content goat munching on the coat, wishing he had a boat, to gloat, I have lost track of this emote... Hrrm. The wizard feels the rather unpleasant feeling seeping from the flesh-bound book, so he listens closely to the reply from the Kensai - no attempts made to hide the fact he's eavesdropping.

Kasyr blinks when he hears Satoshis' voice directly beside him, before he casts a quick glance to his surroundings. At first, the Kensai is only able to offer up a mildly befuddled look in response to the felines question, though recognition of the goat, who has in tote a particular coat upon which his wife dotes... Well, lost hardly begins to cover the vampires expression at that moment, "..It's..necromancy.. Uh. Hi?"

Satoshi gets the feeling she's being mocked, but it's fleeting because... well, who would mock someone as perfect as she? Either way, that's not the kit's concern as she inches a bit closer to the revenant, eyeing the book. "I guessed by the cover, but -why-? All this..." A glance goes to the eavesdropping wizard, "bringing people into unlife... making you rethink your occupation?"

Svilfon reaches out to absently scratch the goats ear, which earns him a meowing sound of appreciation from the sadly confused animal. He eyes the Kensai and snow queen for a moment, before speaking, "You guys want to talk about this alone..?"

Kasyr gives that goat a long and hard- look, that look of perplexion from before now shifting to one of wariness. "Dumbest looking Chimera..." During this time a white furred feline face pops up on the side of Kasyr opposite of Satoshi, Casper having taken this moment to emerge from the vampires backpack- if only to perch up on his shoulder, and look around. She heard a cat, after all. "Er, anyways- I'm looking for something to support a theory I have. It's rather important, given I was in kelay and read the board. Bit of a timeline has been imposed, tu could say."

Satoshi absently scratches Casper's ears as her gaze flicks from the book, Svilfon, and the 'chimera' currently hooting between bites. The first is given another curious look, the second a shake of the head as answer, and the last... is dutifully ignored in favor of Kasyr's reply. "Timeline..? Why do I get the feeling I've missed out on something important by being up here the whole time?"

Svilfon spends quite a few moments thanking the Gods, or the stars, or whatever it is wizards thank, that Kasyr's cat has shown up. That will ensure a certain parrot stays far away. And in light of recent events, the mocking little bastard would probably send the deceased spell-caster over the edge. And it's Frostmaw, that can be quite a literal thing around here. When Satoshi speaks, Svilfon adds, "You mean, Kasyr, the wraiths?" He saw the note when he delivered his challenge.

Kasyr casually dog ears the page he was on before he claps it shut- the action done with such abruptness that poor Casper hops in place. With an almost apologetic look sent the way of his pet, the likes of which is responded to by a verry cattish glare, both vampire and feline resume their prior activities, "Svilfon... Hardly. The wraiths will be dealt with, either by moi, or someone else. Though the opportunity to fight Vuryal es...tempting. to say the least." With a brief glance spared towards Satoshi, the hybrid simply adds, "But non, I meant it more in regards to your outspoken declaration, Mr le wizard."

Satoshi groans and looks toward Svilfon in dismay at that. "Hellfire, tell me you didn't challenge him -on the board-...?" The kit personally sees no sense in the pages of posturing and boasting, and the tired old 'I can beat you up' notes have often driven her to debate putting her head through a wall.

Svilfon stops his scratching of the winged goat's ear, earning him a very dolphin like 'Eeekk' from the beast. But it is ignored as he lowers his his gaze to the ground, obscuring his face beneath the wide brim of his pointy hat. There is resignation in his voice as he speaks to both Kensai and ice magus, "I was clear there would be no hidden blades in the night." A hand lifts to rub down his face, before he looks back up at his companions, "I told him where we would fight, queen. In the shadow of the Xalious tree." He flashes half a fanged grin as he remembers the last time the pair were in that spot. "It is how it must be." He shrugs simply, before focusing again on the Kensai. "What do you have in mind, Kasyr?"

Kasyr gestures at Svilfon with enough enthusiasm that Casper has to dig her claws into the vampires coat to hold on. Once more, the little feline provides the vampire a glower, this time accompanied by a peculiar waggling gesture of one of its' paws in Kasyrs direction- though she stops soon enough when her gesticulations fail to cause her owner to 'wither'. With a dejected miyew, the cat simply proceeds to burrow her head into the vampires neck as he speaks, "Well, it's related to this book. Or rather, what might be in this book. You see, it occured to moi that you et the others within our Coterie do not have certain advantages that other vampires do. Advantages that tend to come with age- in many cases. Given we don't have time for you to develop them naturally, et tutelage could only do so much- that simply leaves the possibility of -if- they could be stimulated artificially et, well, how." The kensai grins rather broadly, "I'm following a theory. Since I might have figured it out. Peut-etre."

Satoshi is in the midst of plucking Casper from Kasyr when she pauses, cat in her grasp, claws locked into the kensai's scarf, and mewing in protest. "Advantages? That could help him against the Eldermage? You're scheming again, then? ..." A furtive glance, and a particularly stern one for the winged goat that's put a hole in her jacket, follows before she leans in closer to ask, "Details~?"

Svilfon lets a bright grin from on his face as he hears the Kensai's words. With an almost childish glee the wizard gets to his feet before kicking the winged goat. It lets out an oink or two, before meandering a few feet away to apparently sulk. The wizard leans down to pick up the nibbled coat, before flashing a disgusted look. Goat drool. Holding it far from his body, the wizard meanders down to where the two stand, before he offers it to Satoshi. "Err, might want to wash that." He stifles a snicker, before looking at the Kensai, his bright grin again lighting his features, "You, Kasyr, are my type of person." Were there not a cat stalking around, the wizard would have clapped the warrior on the back. "Deadly battle. Possibly death.. proper death.. And you want to experiment on me based on a theory!" To those who don't know him, such words could be construed as sarcasm. But from Svilfon, they were quite genuine. Rolling the dice; just his cup of tea. "Count me in." As if he had a choice, really.

Kasyr tickles Casper in the stomach, forcing her to relinquish his scarf so that he can properly readjust it. From there, he simply gives Satoshi a grin, "When am I -not- scheming, mon cher?" Svilfon earns a mixed look from the vampire, the wizards emotions and words seemingly at ends with each other...at least until he states his willingness to participate. That's about all the goading the Kensai needs to get into the thick of things, "Well, the thing es- vampirism es a parasite, right? A disease of sorts, which spreads in its host et alters them- gradually granting the afflicted with more strength as it ages. Whilst normally this would take years... Well, consider this. Vampirism es a -magical- infestation of a persons body, specifically one of a dark nature. If this parasite were to be fed a source of dark energy, through some rite, incantation, or what have tu... It could perhaps be given the ability to fortify itself within its host in a manner which otherwise would not be possible. Essentially feeding the sickness, as it were. Thoughts?"

Satoshi properly abducts Casper with Kasyr's aid and tucks the cat in the crook of her arm, leaving her one arm short of being able to accept her coat back from Svilfon. With a nod she gestures for Svilfon to drop it, "The snow'll clean it fine." before she shifts her attention back onto the kensai. "That.... sounds dangerous.... Count me in~." If Kasyr expected a negative response at the proposal of his plan, he's chosen the wrong two Mage Guild members to present it to. Especially since these two have a running reputation at the Tower for doing everything opposite of the standard, and by the most unnecessarily risky means possible. Otherwise, there wouldn't be a colossal golem sitting outside Frostmaw's fort right now currently waiting for a misinterpretation of its directive so that it can rampage through the town.

Kasyr obviously needs to find a way to give it quirky orders. Maybe orders that activate in a cycle, so that they can all have a chance to cause massive chaos. ...In theory. That is. Obviously Kasyr wouldn't do this.

Satoshi is lucky she can't read minds.

Svilfon flashes a grin at Satoshi, before he drops her coat, rather thankfully, to the snow. He wipes his hand on the front of his robes, before replying to the Kensai, "Could the body handle such violent change, Kasyr?" The wizard hmms, "The body adapts to the.. change..." A feral gleam comes to his eyes then, just briefly, "As it can adapt to most things. Like here," he spreads his hand wide, "the wolves of Frostmaw have heavy coats to survive the cold. But were we to drop a Sage Forest wolf suddenly in the snow, it would freeze to death..." For a moment the wizard thinks, before with another abrupt change of pace he nods and grins, "I like it. I nominate myself to test the theory. What could go wrong?" He ignores the urge to shudder in the wake of his words, though strangely he feels the many shudders of the magelings in Xalious.

Satoshi said to Svilfon, "That's half the fun of it, no?" Chuckling, the kit moves to stand beside the kensai so that she can get a closer look at the flesh-wrapped book he's still holding. Fortunately having Casper in her grasp prevents Satoshi from attempting to poke a curious finger at the tome, but that doesn't stop her from eyeing it covetously. "From the Black Library? Or the one here?"

Svilfon said to Satoshi, "It's the only way to live."

Kasyr eyes Svilfon, a look of genuine curiosity having been evoked by his question, " Hrm, but would it be akin to adapting to the cold? I think a better analogy might forcing a greater act of gluttony upon something- so we would need both a means to provide the energy to the disease, et a means to ensure that it es processed. Someone able to fix any sudden alterations to an undead body might be a wise idea, however." Even as his head tilts off to the side, he can't help but wave the tome at Satoshi, "It's from the Black. I used to read there alot, back when I was ..more in touch with the information in my head. Easier to process." On that note, the vampire turns on his heels and starts to move back towards the town, nose wrinkling in irritation, "...Finding someone, that es a problem. The person, et the correct rite...s."

Svilfon takes a certain macabre pleasure in realizing the man who wants to experiment on him is currently 'not in touch with the information in his head'. "Your analogy may be correct. There is only one way to test it.." The wizard gives a little shrug; he would not offer advice on who to pick, in wake of the war ravaging through Hollow.. Who could they trust? As the Kensai begins to head back to town, Svil makes no move to follow. He turns and begins to make his way back to where the winged goat. He liked the little bastard, he didn't want it to become prey... at least... anyone else's prey.

Satoshi says to Casper, "Aren't you happy to not be the test subject this time?" She doesn't expect any sort of reply from the cat however, and with a shrug she hurries to follow the kensai, only pausing to glance behind at Svilfon loitering to collect the mixed up goat. "If you teach him to eat parrots, I think he'd be a keeper~."

Svilfon laughs at Satoshi's words, "If only we could be so lucky. They'd probably hit it off and have little quarking, bleating, mooing, oinking, eeking, meowing, loud-mouthed paroat babies." Svil kicks the goat again, affectionately mind you, before lazily heading his own way back to town. As he walks past Satie's coat he leans down and picks it up between index finger and thumb, before carrying on his way. He'd drop it off to her house, or something. And it did ensure his goat-companion would follow.

Kasyr is heading onwards. On the other hand, Casper is quite busy being handled by the Magus, something which only allows her to stare very pointedly at Satoshi upon her comment, her retort given in silence. It's only when Satoshi turns her attention away that Casper begins to squirm in attempt to get onto the cryomancers arm- so that her shoulder can be pilfered for perching.

Satoshi's shoulder is pilfered! But at least she can actually have use of her arm again so she can retrieve her coat from the wizard en route... to wherever they're going?
