Part of the The God of Undeath Arc

Part of the Welcome To The End Of Eras Arc

Part of the Mearcstapa Arc

Summary: Kasyr sends word to Khitt(i) to meet at the castle in Vailkrin, wherein the two both exchange rather troubling news to one another: the situation concerning Kasyr and the book he stole from the Repository of Remembrance and the kidnapping of several people by the naga queen herself (respectively). While Khitt's news was more of a warning than anything, Kasyr's side of things leaves Khitt with more questions than answers as the revenant hands off several envelopes to be delivered to certain vampire houses, on the off chance he goes missing--and all of this not long before the upcoming battle with Caluss.

Vailkrin Council Room, Vailkrin Castle

Kasyr is, at this juncture, already seated at the velvet chair which rests at the far end of the room, a neat pile of brown envelopes stacked to the left of him. Letters which -he- seems to be the source of, if the freshly scribbled note in front of himself is any indication, especially given the careful manage in which he begins to fold it, and set it within a near identical envelope. It's somewhere in the midst of this process that the man glances up from his work towards the doorway of the council room, squinting at the echoing sounds of steps- and the sense of familiarity that accompanies it. Sounds which precipitate some small act of hospitality in the form of a bottle of whiskey, and a pair of glasses being procured from a drawer and set in the midst of the table.

Khitt || Booted feet bring Khitt to the room that Kasyr had himself settled within, those echoing footsteps coming from the redhead himself. In his usual attire, he stopped at the doorway, peering inside without his trademark smirk. “I hope whatever news you’ve got is good,” he said, his words somewhat cold, though not directed at the revenant. “Because we’re finding very few things of late that can be counted as such and I’ve been in the need to punch things for some time now.” His feet finally stirred themselves again as he went to take a seat, as well as an empty glass, which he promptly filled with that whiskey and downed it with a heavy sigh. He almost sounded like Khitti right then, not so subtly pointing towards the fact that they were indeed the same person, even if there were many differences too.

Kasyr isn't always sure who it is that'll arrive, but Khittis arrival marks a point of amusement, at least- if only because the other man seems to be lamenting the lack of a problem that can be readily solved by punching it. "Not good news, per say- but also not bad, J'pense. I translated my book- I should be able to contribute something to our efforts that ought to ensure the rest of our endeavours go smoothly." Which by all accounts sounds like good news, and yet- there's no humour in his voice, even as he opens the bottle of liquor and begins pouring out what he considers to be a decent serving. "That said, it might potentially limit my movements for some time. I'm not sure to how large an extent. So, I was going to ask you a small favor. There's still some work to be done in smoothing over the politics of this area, and ensuring that vailkrin actually reaches some form of equilibrium. If you'd be willing, I'd have a few errands for you to run in the upcoming days. And a few notes to pass onto certain individuals from the various houses provided I vanish from the public eye for a time." Covering his bases in case the worst occured. At the very least, it would give Inks time to figure out a way to spin things, or potentially cover them up.

Khitt tilted his head somewhat as he listened to the vampire, crimson brows furrowed and olive-green eyes narrowed in slight confusion. “So you… can’t leave Vailkrin at all then?” That’s what he was putting together anyway, considering the amount of errands Kasyr was implying. “We can certainly do that, but there is obvious concern about what if someone questions why we’re bringing these notes instead of you. Clearly, we’re not going to tell anyone about it, but… if someone finds out you can’t actually leave here, that’s a disaster in the making, Kasyr.” He crossed his arms over his chest and eyed the part of the table in front of him. “All that aside, what did the book say? If you’re able to tell, that is.” He wasn’t going to pry too much about it, if the revenant didn’t want to say, but it would help him understand why Kasyr couldn’t leave. “We’ve got other problems too, by the way. That snake queen Reginae’s been hoarding people like she’s a frakking dragon. She’s taken Kanna and Mathollak and a few others. They’re allowed to leave, so long as they have a chaperone, but…” The redhead just shrugged and sighed.

Kasyr s' expression is one of legitimate concern, if only because of a very simple fact. He's delving into unknown territory, and the actual repercussions of what's contained within the book is wholly uncertain. "To be quite honest, I'm not even sure if I'm going to come through it intact. Probably well enough to do what needs to be done, but as for the after- well." At the end of the day, it didn't really matter. He'd traded away his humanity because they needed a pet monster- what harm was there in pawning away the tattered remains of his future. "You can give them the normal bureaucratic hems and haws that would be part and parsel in politics. Maybe some convenient story about closing the rifts in space from the inside, peut-etre. We can contrive excuses as need be for the people who would ask, until it's no longer necessary." That said, Khitts question as to the books contents cause him to fall quiet. On one hand, someone was due an explanation for what was within its pages- and of anyone, the one least likely to judge was the individual before him. And yet- whilst the Kensai now carried protection against being scryed upon, the concern of Tessa and her master discovering the details still remained high. What details might be gleaned if she were to invade a dream or nightmare, like she'd done so long ago. "It's- Let's just leave it as something that would allow us to fight our adversary on more even grounds, d'accord. And to avert the worst outcome." It's a terrible summary, and yet- he hoped it could be left at that. Khitt was coming here with their own problems, to boot, "Have their been escape attempts? It's a little curious that Math es still 'under wraps'- if they're in danger." He's not going to think too hard on the possibility it's all some elaborate bit of delishan exercise in the man's case. And yet, that would hardly explain the others if it's enough to concern Khitt, "So- are you asking to send some people to investigate, or to contrive a meeting? As a politician, she might be convinced to come meet moi, en fait. Though- I feel that would likely only garner you some degree of intel."

Khitt || Usually, Khitt was able to mask the majority of his concern or worry, where Khitti was not. But, here it was on full display as Kasyr admitted he wasn’t even sure if he’d make it out of whatever had befallen him alive. The redhead leaned back in his chair, a frown planted firmly on his face as he listened to what the vampire had to say, most of his attention on the ceiling above them. “I do hope it’s worth the risk, Kasyr. You forget that you’re more than just a weapon to be used when things take a turn for the worst. From her memories, and from what Brand’s told me, Khitti was the same way and she wasn’t even an elder vampire. If whatever this is comes with your demise, you know we won’t want to do it. If you didn’t hear it from Khitti, you certainly would from Valrae.” To put it plainly, Kasyr, you’re their friend, so no dying. “That aside, no, I don’t think there were any escape attempts. Or if there was, they’ve kept it quiet. I’ve seen a handful of them all with bodyguards, who are I’m assuming naga in an illusion form, and then after that they return to Alithrya. Khitti was the first to suspect it. Hard for someone that’s been taken multiple times herself to not notice. She didn’t want to sound crazy, so she didn’t tell anyone about it. I had to, so I brought it up to Leoxander and Valrae. We’re supposed to make plans on how to get them out, but Leo’s gone quiet again for a few weeks. No, I’m not asking to send people. More just… letting you know she’s been taking people and keeping them to herself. It’s only a matter of time before she tries to swipe someone from here.”

Kasyr scratches at his chin, in part as a pantomime of being pensive, and aprtly out of a sense of anxiety. All given, he was aware that there would be questions as to the course taken, the necessity of it- but, that was his role in all of this, no? To take the necessary action, at whatever cost. And hadn't he found this book for a reason? "...I'll keep it in mind. Anyways- the important part is, I'll be needing you to pass on some messages to the other houses, It's a bit blatant for me to be doing the legwork, but you have a certain degree of mobility given- yoooou? as- ...In. The necromancer thing. It opens doors, enfin." Were they both necromancers, even? Questions. "Anyways. In case something on the scale of Cenril's plague happens down the lines- it might be good to have a plan of action. Like convening at a few choice estates in Nightshade Avenue. Far from the castle, which would likely wind up a target for its symbolic value." The scratching at his neck doesn't stop, even as he gingerly nudges a small subsection of the letters forward, "If I go quiet for a bit, or you have trouble finding moi- I'd appreciate you delivering these." Which simply leaves, "Well- I'll keep an eye out for the damoiselle, then. Maybe I'll see about investigating myself. Shouldn't be hard, if she's decided to keep Mathollak on retainer."

Khitt nodded. “Indeed. Khitti and I have had visitors because of you. Langley from House Markan and an undead that goes by the name Lefty. Both seeking support by way of the guild. We’re both still… rather hesitant about it all given how things are back home with politics, but we’ll do what we can, as we told them.” As the letters were nudged forward, Khitt pulled them the rest of the way across the table, taking a moment to thumb through them just to note the Houses they’re addressed to. “You better not go missing. Khitti’s already losing her mind over everything, between her home and work being at odds and her friends going missing and that big bug still not being officially handed over to his father yet. You go missing too and she’s going to come looking for you and things will not be pretty.” There was a bit of a smirk, but his tone was still rather serious. “But yes, if that does come to pass, I’ll deal with the letters while she plots your demise for going away.”

Kasyr supposes now is a good time to take refuge with his drink, lifting it up so the hint of bemusement can be covered, "I appreciate it. Both insofar as facilitating things with those two, as well the rest of this mess." The glass is returned to the desk, his finger gently tapping against the wood, "Hopefully, things will go smoothly, but it never hurts to be prepared. At any rate- I think it's just about time to begin making a serious push for an appointment, pending one last discussion with, well-" It's at that juncture that the Kensai taps the letter marked Ashram. "But that's neither here nor there. I'd like to see all this dealt with." After a suitably dramatic pause, he carefully adds, "Without being murdered by your other half."

Khitt shrugged and smirked. “Well, at least you know you’d be murdered with love and friendship rather than…” He gestured towards the outside world. “You know, anything else.” He poured himself a bit more whiskey and actually drank this one like a normal, sophisticated person, rather than downing it like the alcoholic that he and Khitti might be. “Well, you best hurry up with that then, because the days are counting down to when we need to take out Caluss. And if you can manage to get a yoke around the whole of Vailkrin before then, things will likely go much more smoothly afterward, when it comes to dealing with Quintessa and her friends.”

Kasyr actually grimaces a bit at the idea of things going smoothly, if only due to his natural pessimism, and yet- if there was one thing he was good at, it was rallying people. That, alongside flagrant amounts of property damage and personal injury."I'll keep you posted as best as I can." A beat. "Or I won't, and you'll have even more errands to run. Either or. Thank you, though."That grateful admission besides, the swordsman begins to pluck another note from his desk, seemingly intent upon starting up another batch of missives now that he'd managed to make some headway on the long list of things he had to do.
