- The waters that run through the city of Gamorg are said to be the most putrid in the world. The waters originate from the contaminated ruins of a once mighty empire whose history and name have been lost to distortions in space and time. The beastly dragons of the Dragonlands know instinctively to avoid drinking from the polluted stream that separates their lands from Gamorg. In times of drought, however, dragons that are desperate enough and maddened enough to be tempted by the discolored stream littered with bones drink their final drink. Those dragons who are not killed instantly by the internal poisoning are changed, survivors if they can be called that. Scales slough off to reveal poisonous exposed muscle or turn to rot the color of the polluted water, and the dragon becomes bound to the water, unable to leave the area for the little bit of time it has left on this plane of existence. Despite the change in form, a mutated dragon is no less dangerous than it was before.
