Lore and Arc Items

Lore Items

Lore items are important to the world's canon and history. While players may possess an item ic or ooc, changes in lore or narrative may force the item to change hands, especially if it is in the hands of an inactive character. Admin may remove these items from an inventory at their discretion, normally for inactivity, or because the player has misused a powerful item associated with lore.

Admin-sponsored Arc Item

An admin-sponsored arc item is a custom item created to be used in RP to progress a specific story line. Because this item was created for the purpose of a story, and not for an individual character, the terms of ownership around this type of item is special. By accepting this item, you agree to abide by these terms.

Terms of Ownership

There are two types of admin-sponsored arc items, which we will call Type A and Type B.

During the life of the arc

• Both Types A and B items can be used by you in line with your character's motives and personality within and outside of the arc, but it must be used. If you go inactive during the life of the arc, the item may be removed from your inventory and redistributed to be used by someone else in the arc. You will be notified by hmail.

Once the arc is over

• A Type A item is considered too powerful (or unique in some way) that it must be either destroyed, or converted into an NPC-owned/protected item to be stored in a safe space in-game, such as by the Mage Guild's Tower or a monarch's private collection in a castle. If stored, it may be released again in a future arc at the admins' discretion.
  • Forsaken Book of the Dead is an example.
• A Type B will remain in the inventory of the character who owns it. It is yours to keep and use after the arc. However, because it is considered an item of important lore, if you go inactive for more than a year, and the item would be useful to a future admin-sponsored arc, the item may be removed (but won't necessarily be removed) at admins' discretion. You will be notified by hmail.
  • Tenbatsu Kaji is an example.
