- Leopard’s are elusive felines that live in large fields and are predominantly solitary animals due to their secretive nature. This big cat often has a tan body with a white belly and they are covered in black spots with a touch of brown in the center. Their eyes are gold in color and they are nocturnal. Their weight ranges from 50-70 pounds and they have a lifespan of up to seventeen years. Leopard’s have long bodies, broad heads, and relatively short legs in comparison to other wild cats. They are excellent hunters and are strictly carnivores, often carrying a kill that’s much greater than their own body weight. They kill their prey by using powerful, retractable claws and sharp teeth that can cut flesh and grind bone. Leopard’s mark their territory by scratching on trees or by urinating or defecating in a particular area. Males and females only cross into each other's territories when they wish to breed, otherwise, they prefer their solitude. These stealthy predators can climb trees and can reach speeds of up to thirty-five miles per hour when running. Leopard’s can be found in all types of forests and in the desert, and they try to avoid interaction with other predators at all cost. They are intelligent, stubborn, confident, and opportunistic hunters.
