Talk:Crafting

From HollowWiki

Did this whole aspect of Hollow get tossed to the side for the time being? If it did, perhaps the link to the page should be removed from the main wiki page? If it's still being changed up, then perhaps people who know about the recipes, or the admins, could type up little clue dealios, rather than saying, "Here's 1,248 items and 534 rooms, go and find the 3 combinations that make stuff." --Lokthull 19:51, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

One for the mages. Why not have one where you gotta find the certain things and be able to make staffs and such things. I also reckon a carpenter craft would be good. ~ Yoshisune

Well that would open up a spot in the guilds again for a crafting guru. Which I would find extremely fun for rp'ing and sharing information. I mean peopel could purchase the materials form the merchant guild, and then even so. They could come to the crafting guild if they didn't know how, and then the guild could make it for them, or they could pay extra gold to learn and join the guild. It would be a lot of new rp opening up and I am all for that. ~ Jeriel

I like this idea. It could open up so much RP. As Jeriel stated, a possible 'crafting' guild, blacksmiths, clothing merchants, herbalists, and so much more. Could even have something, if possible, for you're characters pet's. Its a good way, for those that are here just for RP purposes to extend their horizon, make a name for their character. I think its a good idea. ~ Turel

Could open up a idea for pet breeding, just a thought i reckon would be good. ~Yoshisune

Just as a further thought. I would hopefully one day like to see crafting took to the next level as well. By this I mean consider this. People have blood wine and such. Why can't we learn a cooking skill and such that we could find meat on mobs and learn to cook it so that we could save copper, silver, gold..etc... There could be even more stuff to be put into it. I honestly am looking forward to it as I am starting to not stat as much anymore and am finally starting to settle into my own RP niche. Crafting is a great idea, and i think you could do some on it by releasing a book in game and have it hidden where someone could find small recipes to allow for people to start off. It would make it easier, and people wouldn't just give up on trying it out. Just a random thought I thought that i would share. ~Jeriel

I think the idea of Crafting in hollow is a very good idea myself, I think you should use at least three minerals, plus the Item of your choice, and using Magical Items like Pixie Dust and such can be optional and would benefit crafting as well, and the outcome of it would be one powerful Item, one of which you get to name, benefits in statting maybe, but definitly helps in Role-Playing as well, the only reason I Stat is to get gold, I perfer RPs myself, and to comment on Jeriel's cooking idea, I like that idea too, you can mix and match to make a new food. Overall, I love this idea a whole lot as I think it can enchance, help, and teach RPs, and thats my two cents on this. ~Brandi

I can't see much wrong with this idea. Will there be only certain things that are class related that can be crafted? For instance, certain magic items for mages, nature items for druids, dead-raising items for necromancers, so on and so forth? There should be common items everyone can make, of course. And the cooking idea isn't a bad one, but then, wouldn't you have to learn to build a fire, or use a stove? But then, I could just be extremely tired and not functioning from lack of coffee. However, these cratfed items could lead to some new skills. Such as starting a fire and using a stove. -Arysel

  • Yep Ary. That is what i was meaning. That would be a whole new set of skills that could possibly be learned to help out in various and different ways. I mean cooking and such like that wouldn't help in a fight or anything, but none the less it would be a fun RP starter like IE: Jeriel is sitting in a room a fire blazing in front of him roasting a piece of raw meat over the spit. : It would be shown that there is a fire there in the room by him cooking. But as well with that you would have to take in account how many times you burn a piece of food, cause we all know not everyone is a good cook. As a lot of time Vuryal or another admin would say is. "Can it happen in real life?" So with that you just have to watch what you can and can't do. ~Jeriel

If it was class related though I would be screwed, Yoshisune is a spellblade and the spell part is Necromancey so I would not be able to do the Necromancer stuff. ~Yoshisune

I find this quite insane that this idea has just surfaced up. I've had an idea in my head for months to make a character who is a blacksmith, on the idea that people would bring raw materials acquired from the mines, along with a monetary contribution, and my character would "make" the requested item. Really, it would just be a basic exchange of one type of good for me to go and find the requested item, but I think it's a fun rp all the same. I actually am in the process of possibly getting rid of my current character in favor of pursuing my idea. I am quite interested, now, to see how this crafting idea pans out on Hollow. I guess my big idea, then, would be smithing weapons, jewelry, etc. out of the acquisitions in the caves. --Feanaro 00:34, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Well I have been looking all over and killing things. I haven't found very many things, let alone enough to consider the Craft skill. I think if the items were dropped more often then not, that would be a perk to use crafting. Especially if I was going to do it for a guild style like thing. Though the idea of crafting is awesome, I dunno if I will ever be able to use it for anything unless the items were to drop from more creatures, and or low level creatures. ~Jeriel

  • The crafting creatures can be killed by a complete newb. A stat of 5hp isn't that hard. The drop rate is fine, since it encourages competition. More things will be added, I suspect as the system get's more fine tuned. I'm doing quite well so far, utilizing the rough draft of the crafting system. ~Ginger

Any one have any idea where a new player can learn about fracting or is it all trile and error. It would also be nice to know where one can craft?

2014, you guys!

Did this idea ever get off the ground? Is this page linked from anywhere else? --Josleen (talk) 17:04, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
