RP:Yule Charity Ball 2023

From HollowWiki

This is a Healer's Guild RP.

Synopsis: This years Yule Ball is held in Enchantment hosted by the Healer's Guild. A charity event to help with restoration funds for Cenril and Larket, due to the war. Several politicians throughout Lithrydel came to support the cause. Zahrani is voted for the best gownz, and Joan ends up being the Pin the Tail on the Reindeer master.

The Restored Trembling Tree

Moving along the Mystical Stream, this arborous landmark stands ominous over the lands. This tree is the embodiment of life and empathy as it stands, trembling intermittently feeling all the fear, pain, and loneliness in the world. Love and compassion flow forth from this wonder, which serves residence to a flower shop in it's upper branches. This historical elder has stood since even the great God Sven was deified. It was this space that served location for the Grand Council, where Governess Nymur of Nayrul, High Druid Alrion of Sage, Xulven - Monarch of the Dragons, and Queen Ceryl of the Pixies all gave their life opposing Arrecation's evil. This, was the very place of Arrecation`s sealing by Norodruin, and the last stand against Elazul and Khasad by the armies of Lionel and Donovan. The ancient monument was all but destroyed in the final battle below it's boughs, but the restorative efforts of the Healer's Guild members and the Ascendi Lauria herself restored this tree to it's former glory. Once more it towers over the Enchanted Kingdom and continues to remind all of the brave souls who fought and fell here.

Penelope (1 of 4):: A warm ambience twinkles within the distance and within the vicinity of the occasion a comfortable atmosphere washes over the area to bite back the chill of winter. As guests come within the clearing, the large trembling tree, that illuminates love and compassion from times of hardship, stands tall in the moonlit night shimmering with magic that keeps the tree lit and glowing for guests to see around them. Various shades of green ornaments cover the tree ranging from calming sage green to deep forest green. Sparkling ornaments also dangle in shades of gold and silver and glass. These delicate tree hangers are of different shapes and sizes as they cascade over the branches as well as garland made out of dried fruit strung together with twine. Donations of gifts scatter below the large tree as they are for the cause of those in need from the war between Cenril and Larket. Of course there is also a nearby Healer’s Guild member, Finn Fennigan with other members, accepting coin donations in a crystal jar for the occasion of charity under that temporary giving tree. All proceeds going to restoration funding. Also below the tree, elven musicians play melodic tunes, guiding couples gracefully across the dance floor amidst the soft rustle of leaves overhead.

Penelope (2 of 4):: As for the feast, a massive sanded, wooden table is laden with sumptuous delights fit for the festivities. Exquisite dishes of ambrosial nectar fruits, enchanted silverleaf pastries, edible gold dusted honey cakes, gingerbread, candy canes, cheeses, breads, and slabs of finely cooked meats grace the banquet, enticing guests with their magical flavors. Spiced mulled cider and winter berries fill the air around. The scent protruding from the bar area where crafted bottles of liquor sit pretty, so those heavier drinkers can take an edge off. A large unlit bonfire is built in a wide open space where no trees linger above it. The illusion of snowfall lingers overhead to create a touch of wonderland. Trees surrounding the area are elegant as they are adorned with sparkling frost. Attached to one of the trees is a large painting of a reindeer without a tail. Nearby, make-shift reindeer tails sit on a nearby stump. Will someone pin the tail on the reindeer?

Penelope (3 of 4):: Upon the entrance of the ball, a familiar freckled druid stands with a tall, curly-haired elven man passing out candles. “Hi, welcome,” she greets as each guest passes by. Penelope is poised and soft as she greets each guest. Champagne, chiffon lace pools around her as she wears a flowy, a-line cut gown this evening. Long champagne lace sleeves, covered in shiny beading and dusted shimmer, drape all the way to the floor for the elegance and dramatics. Dark hair is twisted up in an updo which leaves a pile of curls on top of her head. Rhinestones are placed randomly throughout the curls, and wisps of her frizzy curls frame her face that is dusted with gold highlighter. She looks simple, yet graceful this evening as she greets the amazingly dressed guests. It had been a while since the healer had a reason to dress up, as she had missed her fairshare of events, but times were busy. Once she gets her bearings, she turns to Ruari. “Keep passing out candles, I’ll be back.”

Penelope (4 of 4):: In gold, chunky heels, Penelope marches as she picks up some of her gown to walk gracefully across the way to a main make-shift stage made of wood where the elven musicians were. “Happy Yule, everyone! On behalf of the Healer’s Guild, we would like to thank every one of you for joining us in celebration tonight. Tonight is a night of hope for those who have suffered greatly through times of war. We have a giving tree and we are accepting donations, as well. Everything will be going to restoration funds from the effect of the war.” She raises a candle. “As you all came in, you were given a candle, and as you can see, many healers are coming around to light your candle.” Different races of healers would weave throughout the crowd with ways to light the guest’s candles. Penelope would let silence reign until all candles were lit before lighting her own. “These candles symbolize hope, warmth, and the triumph of light over darkness. Tonight as we share drinks, food, and cheer, please remember these candles in these trying times. You may place your candles in the nearby candle holders on the guest tables.” She smiles softly before nodding on. “Enjoy everyone! And do not forget to grab a complimentary scarf!” She would point over to the scarves being passed out from other helping hands. These sparkling scarves mimic the appearance of different stars that twinkle in the night sky. The scarves create an enchanting and celestial effect with illusion. “Also, do not forget to vote for our best dressed this evening!” With that, she would meander off the stage, and the music would continue to fill the air.

Zahrani || A shimmer of amber light and warm energy emanates from the Jaguar feline as she makes her way to the Yule Ball. Her choice of garb is a departure from her usual androgynous suits. She opts for a frosty-white halter cheongsam-style of gown, accented with yellow and silver. The pattern invokes a sacred hexagonal geometry across the fabric, a subtle nod to the 6 points of a snowflake. Her feline muzzle is dusted with silver flecks beneath her cyan eyes. All that covers her well-toned arms is a glossy coat of black fur (plus a couple pieces of wrist jewelry), her winter coat fully grown in. Her black tail swishes idly behind her. Walking with her is none other than Atakan, the male Sphinx feline who works at the Ginger Snapped Bakery with his cousin. His own suit matches Rani’s dress in color, and the coat has a fur lining that can be seen on inside, as he has no natural fur. A stylized cherry-blossom branch is tattooed on his neck, a familiar sight to those who know him. He surveys the venue, before turning to Zahrani with a grin, “Ready to steal the show?” To which the paladin responds, “Always...” The two walk together, keeping an eye out for familiar faces. She waves to Penelope as Atakan deposits a donation from the Isran Collective. They accept the lit candles from the Guild staff, only approaching the candle holder when the path is clear. No plans for singed fur this evening.

Meri arrives to today’s festivities without her husband and with no raven-haired child clinging to her person. She was able to get a decent sum of gold out of her husband though to spend/donate at today’s charity event. Meri herself did not want to see the funds spent on Larket, but she understood well that Kelay-Sage was supposed to be neutral. And she trusted that of all people, Penelope would find ways to actually put the coin to good use for both sides of the war. Today Meri is feeling festive enough that she opted to actually dress up for the ball today, though her dress is still very simple and understated. It is a long black gown with thin straps that hangs loose off her curves, decorated with little glitter snowflakes. It's too bad Daisy could not be here to witness the little bit of sparkle. Upon entering and noticing the ‘pin the tail on the reindeer’ game, Meri snaps her fingers in disappointment, “Should have brought Fleur. She would have gotten a kick out of that.” That’s okay, Meri gets a kick out of having kid-free time. Meri barely has a chance to finish expressing these sentiments before a healer comes by and places a candle within her hand. “Oh. Thanks.” Meri is confused at first but Penelope’s explanation clarifies their purpose. The blonde hangs onto said candle as she begins to make her rounds, check out the good, the games, the trees, the guests that are arriving. Meri greets them all with a wave of her free hand, she has never been shy.

Joan came out to the event as it was a healer's guild event and she was of course part of that guild as one of their very few vampiric healers. For this Yule course event the undead woman dressed with care, she normally wore a two piece ladies pants suit, but since this event was special Joan changed it up, for once she wore a stylish purple and silver colored scoop neck sequin cocktail dress. When the light hit any of the sequins they would twinkle in a merry manner, paired with the dress were matching low heeled purple and silver dyed silk heels. In her ever stylish amethyst hair she had set a few matching jeweled hair pins. Never much one for other jewerly the vampiric healer wore her little friend the ghostly shadow spinning spider about her throat as it had spun a delicate finely woven web about her neck and throat, the spider had chosen to rest against the hollow of her pale neck. A clutch purse completed the outfit as her light violet gaze swept the event as she paused at the entrance to look about Joan would offer a polite kind smile and make her way in after she takes up one of the many candles being offered by her fellow guild mates, once hers is lite she would move to place it in one of the candle holders by the guest table.

Zahrani offers a smile to Joan when they're near the guest table, having not seen the woman since they last worked together, "Looking sharp, my friend." It was definitely not a vampire joke, and if Atakan was amused by the turn of phrase, he hides it very well.

Valrae arrived in a stately white carriage drawn by six large white horses, each at least twenty hands high with extensive feathering handsomely framing their large polished hooves. The banner of Cenril rippled proudly on a post decorated with artfully carved mermaids. The mayor was helped from the carriage by a tall and thin man wearing a festive red tunic patterned with intricately embroidered snowflakes throughout. His breeches were a deep green and fur lined his collar and sleeves, however the silver sword that was strapped to his bell-adorned belt left no question as to his business here as he followed the High Priestess into the Yule event. Valrae herself was dressed in a gown of pure white crushed velvet that rippled like water with her movement, the train long and lined with fine soft faux fur imported from Chartsend. The cut itself was asymmetrical, one long bell sleeve adorned with that same faux fur while the neckline cut across her collarbone and dipped below it to leave her other arm bare. An armlet of celestial bronze wrapped gently around her free bicep, the metal delicately fashioned like a wreath of shining holly. A matching set of long, dangling earrings hung from either ear, flashing in the light. Her hair was free, waving down to her hips but pulled back from her face with an intricate series of braids interwoven with pine needles and red winter berries. Her lips were the same bright red, her eyes lined darkly and the lids brushed with a shimmering gold while her cheeks were glamoured to an appealing rose blush. Though, perhaps the most interesting portion of her choice of outfit on this eve was the festive set of antlers that rose up from her crown of golden hair. They were wreathed with gently glowing white light, red ribbons and boughs of holly arranged carefully at the base of each. She greeted Penelope warmly, stopping long enough to whisper, “Everything looks lovely!” Before moving on so that their hostess might be free to welcome others. Once she’d managed to get a glass of something bubbly in her hands, she’d be heading toward Meri with a bright smile fixed on her lips. “Blessed Yule!” Valrae looked at Zahrani.

Joan chuckles softly as she listen to 'Rani, she gives the feline's escort a polite bob of head in way of greeting before lightly 'tsking' to Zahrani, "And you my dear look stunning. I went with a dress for once, just to show off these toned legs.' She would slide one low heeled foot out slightly just to let the two felines to look at her half bare leg.

Lhyrin || When had Vhys’ newest leader graced the masses with their presence that hadn’t been for some ridiculous political thing? Well, Chancellor Lhyrin couldn’t remember. But what better time to do that than a charity event (almost) in the name of their dark lord, Vakmatharas? Sure, Yule wasn’t entirely dedicated to the God of Death, but it was during his month, Mourningfrost, and that made it good enough for Lhyrin. When the vampire found their way to the Trembling Tree, they stopped. They stared at the decorations for the event. They watched as all the healers, and -the- healer herself, Penelope, wandered about handing out candles and lighting them, giving explanations, and just creating joy in general. The impossibly tall forsaken elf’s eye twitched a little. It wasn’t in disgust, however. It was because of that overwhelming sense of… well, they couldn’t quite place it. It felt similarly to when they’d met Kanna. The warmth and the love that the bard exuded. It felt as if the hermit-like, cannabalistic leader of Vhys’ heart was growing three sizes that day. And then quite suddenly they felt as if they were going to vomit. Again, not in a bad way, but just because they still weren’t used to these… emotions. It was clear the elf dressed for the occasion in their lovingly crafted long, fancy tunic that had been tinted dark green and black soft leather leggings. They even wore a humble crown of holly and pine that they’d had Kanna weave for them. They didn’t really go overboard with things though, as they hadn’t heard of the contest, though they should’ve known better. Offering thanks to Ruari, they took the candle, allowed it to be eventually lit, and then wandered a bit in search of where to put the bank note that had their hefty donation written out on it.

Meri had not managed to find herself anything bubbly or alcoholic yet, which is normally one of Meri’s first stops. She was actually trying to figure out where she was supposed to leave donations at right when Valrae approached her. It was a welcome distraction and the Mayor of Cenril is greeted with a warm smile, “Valrae. you are looking as stunning as ever. Blessed Yule to you too. How are things faring for you and yours?” The war was not a topic that Meri was keen on directly bringing up, yet she had seen the damage that Valrae’s fight with Macon had done in Kelay-Sage territory. So while Meri may not be willing to directly inquire, the curiosity is heavy in her mind.

Valrae || Once the witch drew closer, her friend might have been able to see the slight worry that had swam behind Valrae’s dark eyes despite her cheery greeting. She hadn’t been sure if Meri would have returned her greeting so easily, considering the latest bloodshed in the war between Cenril and Larket had taken place in Sage. Still, the slight tension around her eyes seemed to melt away when there were no signs of hostility or frostiness. “Oh thank you,” The witch blushes, doing a small preening twirl. “It’s from Chartsend,” Valrae begins to explain. “Apparently the newest fashion is this-” She waves her sleeved arm toward the bare one. She opened her mouth to give more detail on the latest trends but quickly remembered herself and her audience. “Ah, we’re good. Very good,” Her smile returns, a bit sheepish this time. “How are you and yours?” There was a searching look in her eyes now. She wondered if Meri might bring up the damages. “You look great yourself.”

Zahrani is also more than happy to not talk about the war. There'd be plenty of time for that later. She continues her small talk with Joan, "I suppose we had the same idea..." Then realizes she hasn't introduced her friend from the Isran Collective. She puts a hand on his shoulder, "Oh, I don't know if you've met Atakan. He works at the Bakery in Cenril." The Sphinx male offers a hand in greeting, a charming grin comes naturally to the tattooed feline.

Penelope claps giddily at Valrae’s whisper. “Thank you! I think so too!” Her voice then lowers evenly. “Glad you could make it.” Moss eyes then find their way to Ruari Erickson, “Grab the Yule log and get this place lit! Go, go, go!” She waves her hands forward in a sweeping motion to hurry the elf up to light the large bonfire creating more light for the area around. Ruari grabs a big old log with pine still attached on the miniature branches. Heartily the elf chants out, “Happy Yule! Let the festivities begin!” In the meantime, Penelope watches as Lhyrin weaves their way through the festivities. Were they painstricken? “Welcome! What a festive crown!” What a greeting from the short healer to the tall elf. Probably too cheery for the forsaken elf. There was a familiarity, yet she was not sure if she had ever met the Chancellor of Vhys. “Thank you for attending during these times.”

Joan would take the offer hand of tattooed male feline, "Oh yes and hello Atakan." Joan would say giving a decent firm handshake before dropping her icy pale hand from the male feline's I mean, he was furless and Joan was undead, making her body chilly.

Meri spots where Lhyrin splits that bank note. It was not that Meri was not paying attention to her conversation with Valrae, just that the blonde had developed the habit of constantly surveying her surroundings. “Chartsend, eh? I would not have guessed, the last time I was out in Chartsend it seemed so quiet and quaint. Maybe I will have to pay the area a visit again one of these days to see what new shops it might have.” Meri makes a vague motion for Valrae to follow her over to the donation area, if she does Meri will answer while walking, “We’re all doing well. Though Magikrios and I do find ourselves suddenly quite busy with repair projects.” There is a smirk. How could Meri be mad over Valrae stomping on Macon? “Worth it,” the blonde says shamelessly despite any neutral status Kelay-Sage might have. It is no secret, her personal dislike for Larket. Anyway, if Valrae has followed…Penelope is going to get another bank note with another sizeable donation. This one from Kelay-Sage. Ah, politics.

Lhyrin thankfully towered over many of those attending, which was helpful in trying to designate where to leave their bank note. And then the hostess for the evening happened to find them, with their overwhelming emotions and possible stomach issues. It’s enough to actually catch the Maharan vampire off-guard. For a moment, they just stare at Penelope. Like a deer in lamplights. And then the neurons in their brain actually started to fire again and they said, “Oh.” Yep. That’s it. Okay, fine there’s more and it’s very much in their monotone voice. “Hello. I uh… T-thank you. Do you know of Kanna Tsuji? I had her make this for me. It’s very nice.” The elf almost sounded as if they were five years old and rather shy, showing off the crown at show and tell at school. Until they cleared their throat and continued speaking. “You look very lovely as well! I was wondering perchance where I might put this, but I suppose it might be better to give it to you directly.” And so they did. They handed the healer woman a Vhysian bank note, with the symbol for their House stamped on it. It’s an extremely large amount. “Just send word to my house and they’ll deliver the gold by wagon.” By wagon, Penelope. All of that gold, -by wagon-. “I do hope it’s enough.” It’s probably more than Nel will ever need and it’s all because Lhyrin, the hermit dark ranger, has no real concept of money. At all.

Zahrani glances over to Meri and Valrae. Cyan eyes wander to Penelope as she speaks to Lhyrin. The feline herself had never met the chancellor. Turning to the vampire, the paladin says, "We're going to schmooze a bit, if you wanted to join us." She and Atakan make their way towards Val and Meri. The Jaguar waves in greeting to them, "You both look incredible. It feels like it's been forever since I saw you..." The Collective had not been able to participate in as much active combat, but they did their part in maintaining supply lines and helping the citizens impacted by the fighting.

Valrae follows Meri’s lead toward the donation area, her guard following just a few steps behind. “Oh, it’s still quaint.” She agrees, “There is this hidden gem of a dressmaker there, I’ve been half tempted to bribe her onto Cenril’s shores.” She was aware the topic might be rather dull to Meri though and would have been glad for the change of topic but.. There was a small wince, one wiped away when her friend adds to it and has the witch laughing heartily. “I am sorry for that,” She says sincerely, looking abashed and a little proud of herself all at the same time. “Cenril will be more than happy to pay for the rebuilding efforts,” She adds quickly, not looking away from Meri as she accepts the bank note her guard offered her now that they were near enough that she could place Cenril’s donation in it’s rightful place. It was no secret to anyone that followed economics that war was profitable, as horrible as that truth may be, and the mayor of Cenril seemed happy enough to very quietly share that wealth with a generous donation. She finally looks around, spotting Lhyrin and offering them one of her sun bright smiles. “Lovely to see you,” She says easily. Though, she thought the last time they had seen each other they were hosting a Samhain ball in Vhys a year or so ago.

Valrae turns to greet Zahrani, a small chirp of happy surprise leaving her. “Oh hello!” She says brightly, “It’s so good to see you.” It had felt like ages to the witch. Time flew when you were uh, waging war and settling old debts, eh?

Meri feigns a smile for Valrae’s benefit even though the topic of the dressmaker continuing for a prolonged period of time would have done internal emotional damage to Meri. As Valrae seems very aware of. “I believe Magikrios would love to have a discussion about that at some point in the future, but I think that tonight is not the talk for such thought.” Zahrani’s arrival is aptly timed, for Meri was just about to change the subject toward something entirely different and wholesome. “Zahrani! It has been ages. Do you want to play pin the tail on the reindeer with Valrae and I?”

Lhyrin was spotted again. Several times in fact. They had felt eyes upon them, but was so caught off-guard by Penelope, that they hadn’t fully noticed Meri’s gaze. But once Val had stolen their attention for the moment, they offered a nod to not just the Cenril Mayor, but Sage’s leader as well. While they had never formally met the werewolf, they had heard of her. And they’d even met her husband. “Good to see you as well, Lady Valrae,” they said, with half their attention still on Penelope.

Zahrani turns to Meri with a grin on her feline face. At the proposal of a party game, she thinks for a hot second, then decides what the heck. "I haven't played anything like that since I was a cub...I'd love to join you two!" Atakan offers them a half-smile, before bowing out gracefully and saying, "I think I'll check out the nosh table...you ladies have fun!" The Sphinx isn't one for kid's games, but like Gamsiz, he likes trying good food.

Valrae snuck in a grateful smile for Meri. “Oh, Lhyrin would you like to join too?” She says suddenly, looking back toward them. “Pin the tail on the reindeer?” Her large eyes turn to Penelope. "Would the host like to play too?"

Joan nodded and trailed after the the pair of felines towards the rest of the crowd, Joan would offer Penelope and quite little wave before she attention is taken by the snacks, she did offer Meri and Valrae a polite nod, Joan didn't know either blonde so she kept much to herself. She'd slowly making her way over to the snacks, her eyes almost gleeming with glee as she took in the offered treats, one she take of each, tucking one candy cane right behind her ear for later, a mulled apple cider taken up and sipped at in a slow savory manner.

Valrae returned Joan's nod with a bright smile and small, shy wave. She doesn't think they'd ever spoken but wanted to be friendly.

Meri takes a couple of steps toward the pin the tail on the reindeer game, while waiting for the rest to decide if they want to join. Not to be rude, Joan would not be forgotten, "You too. Pin the tail on the reindeer? Wanna play?"

Penelope turns to a nearby waiter for a glass mug of mulled cider, one of those poinsettia lace sleeves whipping gracefully in the process. She is a rather fidgety woman, and her eyes find their way back up to the elf. They stare blankly which causes the mere reaction of Penelope staring back the same way. Did she do something wrong? Does her breath smell? Should she do a quick check? They, however, begin talking again about Kanna. “Oh, I’ve met her several times in passing,” the mention of the mushroom enthusiast makes her smile. “She has great taste.” The shyness from the strange chancellor makes Penelope fall into ease again. “I have one of her crowns too. She is very talented.” Eyes switch over to Meri where Penelope watches the bank note in her hand. Neutrality. Kelay-Sage. A thank you would be in order. As Lhyrin compliments the healer, her eyes blink back to them before looking at her dress. “Thank you!” She then parts her lips as the note falls into her hands. Vhys. One of the Houses. It clicks and as she looks at the statement, her eyes grow wide, but she tries to not be rude. “O-oh, wow—” Cough. “This is very gracious of you. We thank your House. We appreciate the generosity.” Her cheeks are rather red at the hefty donation. “I hope you enjoy the evening. I’m Penelope, by the way. Leader of the Healer’s Guild and a healer of Kelay-Sage.” She nods does Lhyrin do handshakes? She extends hers out anyway in gratitude.

Joan paused mid second sip as she was spoken to by Meri, with a shrug the undead would join, why not? You turns to another voice, Zahrani. She does a double take from Lhyrin to Zahrani before connecting the dots. "Oh my goodness, hi!" Of course the chipper woman would try to go in for the hug, but would not be offended if not mirrored. "I'm glad you could make it! You look great!"

Penelope said to Valrae, "The host gets to watch the guests have fun. I'll spin you!"

Zahrani receives the hug warmly from her Guild leader, chuckling softly before wrapping her arms around Penelope. "As do you. It's always good to see you."

Lhyrin does Lhyrin do handshakes? Well, they didn’t used to, but it was an unfortunate side effect of being a politician now. That’s all they did was handshakes. But, of course, none of them knew how often Lhyrin contemplated ripping their arms off in the process, then proceeding to take it home and turn it into a lovely meal. Yet, that wasn’t the case for Penelope. A few blinks were given to the blushing healer before a hand went out to take her own and give it a shake. Despite the obvious earthy scent the druid gave off, which went wonderfully with their cooking, that warmth and cheerfulness overwrote the need to feed. And Lhyrin was utterly baffled by it. “Should you ever need anything else, do let us in Vhys know. While we are still working to finish rebuilding, both construction-wise and with trade routes, we have plenty to offer the rest of Lithrydel and Rynvale Island.” Yes, that’s good. Business-y. To the point. And then Val grabbed their attention again and they could only blink yet again. “Reindeer?” Oh right. Yes. The game. They squinted at the tailless reindeer, then nodded at Valrae. “Sure.” It was going to be a cinch for such an expert archer, right? Right…?

Meri smirks at Lhyrin's reaction, getting the sense that perhaps that this is not a game that the vampire has ever played before. Which means this should prove amusing. Anyway, it seems that the two blonde leader's have managed to amass a small group for this game. So! Onwards! Forwards! Toward the painted reindeer. "Who is going first?" It seems like Meri is demanding the question of the group but then suddenly she looks toward Penelope, "I think the spinner gets to decide who pins first." Valrae makes a small “woo!” of happiness. There was a large group of them now, so she headed toward the gaming area. “Who goes first?” She asks the crowd. “Should we line up?” There was hint of humor in her voice. Did she even remember how to play the game? It had been a while but she was sure there was a blindfold and some spinning involved… Dangerous for her in the heels she chose. Valrae said to Meri, "Jinx"

Mesdoram enters the Yule Ball fashionably late as ever. Do not freight anymore - your favorite drow of the Underdark will not keep you waiting anymore. Feigning complete ignorance to the rules of proper decorum and politeness, Mes strides in proudly and flamboyantly (almost skipping) with his favorite attire own: black socks, black boots, black pants, black shirt, and a whiskey bottle as his plus one. Taking a deep and powerful breath, Mesdoram lets out a sigh while bowing himself to the organizers of the event. “I am here! Now we can truly start the party.” With that said, the drow looks for some finger snacks and possible children to sneak alcohol for – he’s going into Uncle Mes mode today apparently.

Meri said to Mesdoram, "We are partying at the pin the tail on the reindeer game. If you -must- join us. *eye roll*"

Joan said to Zahrani, "I take it we get spinned about in a tight little circle and then try our best to pin the tail on that reindeer thingy over there?"

Zahrani said to Joan, "I think that's a plan. Should be fun, yes?"

Penelope finishes with the quick handshake. Nonchalant, of course, of Lhyrin’s true inner thoughts. In her mind, she just met someone in a great, positive light. What a wholesome member of Vhys. She then looks at Valrae and Meri again. “I will be back to spin guests. I have to make a quick announcement.” She shuffles across the cool earth to the makeshift stage. The Ardelian clears her throat. “May I have everyone’s attention.” She waits until the noise calms down. “Everyone here is dressed in their finest attire. Everyone is so beautiful in their own styles. Tonight we voted on who shined the most, and I could not agree more. The votes are in,” the healer opens a gold card that is handed to her by Finn Fennigan. “Congratulations, Zahrani! You are stunning tonight! Come on down!” Penelope steps down from the stage to open her arms to Zahrani, if she comes forward, where a finely crafted belt dazzled with enchanted ember-like gemstones. The belt resembles Mourningfrost and emits a warm and festive glow, spreading a comforting warmth throughout the wearer’s body during the Yule season. “Congratulations, you sure do look splendid this evening! Take good care of this, it’ll last you several chilly seasons!”

Joan gave the very tall vampiric dark ranger fellow Lhyrin a nod as well as the drow dude Mesdoram.

Valrae pauses in her attempt to figure out who would be first to play the Yule games to cheer loudly for Zahrani.

Joan said to Zahrani, "I suppose so! *gives her feline friend a small but game smile.*"

Meri begins to cheer and clap shortly after Penelope makes her announcement. Congrats, Zahrani!

Mesdoram said to Meri, "You barbarians actually got a reindeer this time? What an sick tradition you all play - I'm in. *brandishes his own daggers he brought from home*"

Mesdoram have hardly claps as everyone seems to be impressed by Zahrani's attire. "Pfft - it's okay I guess..."

Lhyrin awaiting for the game to start, Lhyrin tucked their candle into one of few pockets on their tunic for the moment, so that they might clap for Zahrani.

Meri sighs, "Where is that things keeper and why did they let him out of the house again." She is obviously referring to Mesdoram.

Zahrani turns her ears towards Penelope at the announcement. Atakan gives her a grin; ~of course you won!~ The paladin closes the distance with the Healer, giving her another hug and accepting the belt. It matches her dress, and her aura, quite well as she dons the belt. "Thank you, Penelope." she says, before rejoining the others for the game.

Lhyrin also offered Joan a nod as well.

Penelope congratulates Zahrani before letting the feline collect the prize. After the continued claps and genuine pats, she moves back to the group to pin the tail on the reindeer. "Mayor Valrae, give it a go!" The witch needed some cheer during these times. "I'll spin you!" The Ardelian would open her hands to give the witch a few twirls.

Joan gives few loud claps as her friend 'Rani is accounced the winner. She's admired the belt and would admit it fit the feline quite well.

Alex snatches goodies like a little Yule goblin. He blends in flawlessly with the environment and moves so silently that no one could ever notice. The perfect crime.

Zahrani || Atakan silently approves of Alex's antics at the goodie table, the Sphinx pretending he didn't notice.

Alex also manages to reverse pickpocket a certain dark elf as he shuffles away with exceptional skill.

Alex gave 1 Love Note From Admirer to Mesdoram.

Mesdoram is intrigued by this spinner. "How does it know who to choose?" Feeling the effects of the social lubricant, the drow stands next to one of his best friends. Yes, of course it's Meri. The obnoxious drow pours some whiskey into what he thinks is Meri's cup. Is it her beverage? Did Meri even have a drink? Either way, whiskey went somewhere.

Joan snatches up another candy cane and sticks this one behind her other pointed ear, now Joan had some candy cane like alters, just in time for the pin the tail on the deer game to begin.

Valrae is stopped in her cheering by her guard approaching to whisper something in her ear. Valrae’s lips bow into a frown. She makes a point to bid everyone a farewell and wishes them all a magical Yule before she is herded back to her carriage and forced to make an abrupt and early departure.

Mesdoram feels lighter... or heavier. Depending on what Alex put into his pockets.

Meri :: Did Meri have a drink? You know, for a change, she did not. She has not managed to grab one yet, so where is Mesdoram pouring that drink? Meri tries very, very hard not to think about it. She's not gonna make a scene. It was so close to being a nice gesture too. Valrae must depart before her spin, so the spinner is left to pick someone else. Meri shoves Mesdoram forward toward Penelope. "Replacement?" If not, Penelope has a group to choose from.

Zahrani glances at Joan's creative use of confectionaries, offering the vampire a toothy grin as she waits for her turn to play. Her gaze then wanders over to the tipsy drow that was near Meri, recognizing him immediately.

Penelope watches as Valrae is carried away back to the carriage. "Darn, but that is okay!" As the drow is shoved forward, she points. "You! You will do!" She opens her hands to spin Mesdoram. "You best count down from 10, now. Nice and steady. 10 Lithrydel, 9 Lithrydel..." she starts the drow off. If he would allow, away he would spin in the short Ardelian's hands! Pin that tail!

Meri secretly hopes Mesdoram trips and falls during all of this, outwardly it just seems like Meri is patiently waiting her turn.

Lhyrin || As Valrae made a rather quick exit, Lhyrin let out a ‘hm’ then watched as Meri tried to push Mesdoram forward. What a strange drow. The gaunt elf shrugged off the thought then returned their attention to the task at hand, waiting for their turn. Meri ushers Joan to the 'next in line' position, near Penelope. They still needed to wait for Mesdoram to do his thing, obviously, but....! At least they know who is next.

Joan moves to the position the Mesdoram had asfter being ushered by Meri, the vampiric healer blinks as she watches...no blind fold? Okay she readies to be spin about in a tight circle by Nel.

Mesdoram is shoved into the center of attention – his favorite spot to be in honestly. Before he can give an epic speech to Meri about her pathetic form of pushing (you gotta really get your core involved and stretch), he finds being spun around furiously by the one named Penelope. The very ground bobs and weaves, ebbs and flows, and the sheer strength of the maiden baffles Mesdoram’s tiny mind with how powerful she… or wait, that’s just the whiskey slushing around in his brain and belly that is fooling his perception of reality again. Nevertheless, the drow is never shy about rising to the occasion. “Math… don’t fail me now… 7 stabby stabbies. 6 more plays to write…. 2 dead brothers… 1 deer to kill!” The drunken drow still drinks his sorrows away the poor lad. At the completion of the spin cycle, Mesdoram takes out his favorite throwing dagger and YEETS it to the vicinity of the reindeer – Mes is secretly hoping this animal is real and not a poster… but whatever he has aimed at, the drow falls on the ground without seeing where the deadly missile has landed. To no one’s surprise, the projected landed nowhere near the mark. “Bow to my mighty skill! Proclaims the deeply disturbed drow…

Penelope let Mesdoram go. “Pin it, pin it,” she chants. She watches the dagger fly and a few guests behind the poster of a reindeer dodge the blade. Once he goes for his attempt, she turns to Joan. “Hey, you! You look great. I think you said hi to me earlier and I missed it. Time for a spin!” Same process for Joan. Mid-way through the spins, however, Ruari Erickson would cough. “Uh, Nel, you forgot,” he lifts a silken bandana. “Oh–” her cheeks flood again. At least the drow prior was drinking his way to the spins. “Redo!” A blindfold is given and a few more spins are given to Joan. “Off you go!” She looks over her shoulder. "Next!"

Meri ushers Zahrani up to the 'next in line' spot.

Lhyrin eventually heaved the biggest sigh that might've ever come from the forsaken elf and got in line behind Zahrani. It's fine. They'll be fine. Expert archer. Vampire with enhanced senses. Literally a master at murder. Things will be fine. Yup.

Joan gets psin abouta few times till her guild leader pauses long enough to be given a blindfold, Joan just shrugs as she waits doe it to be tied in place and allows herself to be spin about once again, she was given a dart before hand and lightly stumbled forward a few steps as she holds out her hand with the dart in it, sticking out her tongue a bit the vampiric healer would lightly toss her dart towards where she recalled the deer was it would land it a light 'thunk' and land on the target, hopefully near the tail area.

Penelope watches Joan attempt pinning the tail on the reindeer. “Go! Go!” Once Joan makes her move, Penelope throws both of her hands up in a woohoo! Once receiving the blindfold from Joan, she would turn to Zahrani. “Alright, let's go!” She would tie the silk around the feline’s eyes before counting down.

Zahrani approaches the spot, watching Joan get spun around. "You've got this, Joan!" she encourages the vampire. She finds Lhyrin behind her, offering them a polite smile in admiration for their clothing. Mesdoram is still on the floor contemplating all his life decisions... his plays... his whiskey... his wife... his brothers... "Should I throw another dagger? Is that against the rules?" He says outloud.

Joan would take off the blindfold once she threw her dart, moving out of the line and way, giving Zahrani a small smile and 'thanks' got the encouragement, the undead woman would move back towards Nel and everyone else and give a cheer for 'Rani and her toss, Mesdoram was given a "Nicely done' clap.

Zahrani takes her turn, making a mental note of the reindeers position as she accepts the dart. She offers a friendly chuffing sound to Penelope as the Guild leader blindfolds the paladin....and just like that, she forgets where the reindeer is. She is spun about, her feline dexterity put to the test. At the end of the countdown, she pauses. She's not facing the reindeer at all. Her ears swivel like fuzzy satellite dishes, listening for idle chatter from the others. She turns away from the crowd, throwing the dart. She doesn't even hit the deer; the dart bounces off the board holding up the target, before veering off and landing in someone's champagne glass.

Meri puts herself at the back of the line, right after Lhyrin.

Penelope watches as Zahrani is let loose, she would turn and look at the tall forsaken elf who let out a large sigh. “Time for some fun, yeah? C’mon!” Her fingers wiggle to inch them forward. She would grab the blindfold and stand on her toes to reach the eyes of the elf. Time for the spins, and of course, Nel cannot help it, she is giggling profusely at Zahrani’s attempt of pinning the tail as it shot off someone's champagne glass, all the while twirling Lhyrin. “Go!” She would cheer out and push them forward to pin the tail.

Lhyrin || See, here’s the thing about Lhyrin. They were born second, in their family’s House in Vhys. Secondborn children do not get the niceties that the rest of the family get. Lhyrin has never played party games like this before. They never had birthday parties and all that. Yes, yes. Very sad. Anyway. They are legitimately nervous about this right now. Except, they’re unsure if they’ve ever experienced anxiety in their entire life that’s consisted of almost 2 centuries? They don’t even know -what- anxiety actually really was. Or what it felt like. But what they did know was that it felt overwhelming, like they had felt earlier. Except, it was bad this time. Very bad. And as they put on the blindfold, and as they were spun, their mind raced. What was this? What was this emotion? Should they talk to Kanna about it? No, no. She had enough going on. Well, all Lhyrin knew was that after they took their turn and failed miserably at putting that tail on the donkey, they were going to go down to pixie town--that’s Enchantment, of course--and get a whole hell of a lot of pixie dust and use it all. And they -did- fail at the game. So much so that they slammed their fist into the tree ABOVE the reindeer painting, with the reindeer tail in hand, and actually cracked the tree a bit. Whoops! “T-that was a lovely game,” they said very quickly in their monotone way. “Thank you for let me join in!” Annnnnd, cue them slinking away into the crowd. To hide.

Penelope turns to Meri. “The best for last!” She smiles at her friend before grabbing the blindfold to tie it around Meri's eyes. She then reaches to start her Lithrydelian twirls. “Here we go! Get it, girl!"

Mesdoram finally stumbles onto his feet, not knowing if he won or if the other contestants lost. In his drunken state of self pity, he decides he will go over to the deer and have some words with it. "See deer... oh, I'm not calling you 'dear' deer. My wife would kill you if she saw me with you." The idiot is in the line of fire.

Meri :: Get it girl! Except. Meri very much is not going to get it. Not even close. In fact, the blonde is going to regret her choice of outfit for this game. Serves her right for wearing a nice dress instead of looking ‘too cool to care’ look. It seems so wholesome, so innocent, such a nod back to younger days. Yet things go terribly wrong for Meri somewhere in those ten seconds. Was it the fact that she was in heels? Or wearing a dress? Either way, after spinning around for ten whole seconds…Meri is off! It’s a very wobbly start forward toward the donkey. Meri gets no where close to pinning any tail on any donkey. Instead she manages to catch her heel on the seem of her dress which only causes her to further fall of balance. While trying to straighten herself out she manages to trip over a tree root and at that point the cause is lost, Meri is down, definitely with a whole in her glittery snowflake dress. She even managed to skin a knee too! Oh boo hoo! What a perfect time for Mesdoram to point and laugh at her.

Zahrani removes the blindfold, chuckling at the absurdity of how things turned out for her. She rejoins Atakan to watch the others. The Sph ok NX.

Zahrani tries again.

Penelope snorts at the little, innocent game she put together. The pins kept getting worse and worse with each attempt. The freckled woman could not help but wheeze. Once Meri takes the tumble, Penelope automatically moves to help the woman up. "I'm so sorry! Good try!" She would lend a helping hand before looking at the tail that was pinned near the deer. Joan! "We have a winner!" Ruari Erickson would then move around the event to the purple-haired vampire and offer a bag of coin. "Impressive," the man would say before moving back to the Ardelian.

Zahrani || The Sphinx feline offers her a smarmy from before asking, "Got distracted, did we?" Rani turns to him and briefly sticks her tongue out before observing Lhyrin's impressive display.

Meri :: Once Meri is back on her feet, with Penelope’s assistance, Meri takes a bow. Thankfully it did not seem that anyone was really paying her accident much attention. Immediately after, Meri begins to applaud for Joan, since the vampire one the game. Meri might have taken a bit of a tumble, but it does not seem to have dampened her spirits much. “It was a lot of fun, Penelope. And gorgeous decorations.” But it is likely Meri is not to linger much longer, she did put a whole in her dress after all. Before she leaves though, she should really indulge in a drink and find some treats and snacks to bring home to Magkrios, Fleur, and Mirshann.

Penelope:: Ruari smirks at Joan, as that was a good place to put it. Penelope grins at Meri. “Thank you, also thanks for coming.” She knew it was hard to remain neutral despite the chaos of the war, but Penelope would make good use of the donations. With that, Penelope would turn, as there was someone chugging a whole bottle of liquor as a dare. “You know alcohol poisoning is a thing, right?!” The hostess would then disappear within the crowd amongst the shenanigans.

Zahrani offers a grin at Joan as she rejoins the two cat folk. "Excellent shot, my friend, " Atakan praises the woman's accuracy. The two felines would linger for awhile longer, before heading back to their room at the inn. Their ride back to Cenril would depart first thing in the morning.

Sisi seems to appear late to this yule event, but the young tea merchant did come with a small donation. She would place it with the others and make her way to towards the offered treats, the blonde would look them over and take her time to try a few of each. She was given a unlit candle, once someone passed by and light it up she would place it with where the others were before departing with a quite 'Thank you' to the guild host.
