Part of the Vakmatharas' Jar Arc

Summary: Xzavior is back.

Courtyard

Off of the to the west of the vast Main Hall through large paned glass doors you come to a large cobblestoned and marble walled courtyard, but it is not without a bit of vines growing along the walls and a couple large old trees somehow planted in the two centers of the courtyard. The outdoor area here is just as long as the main hall, but narrower by half which is still saying quite a bit for the area. The front half seems to be dedicated to painting and recreation as there are some lounges, easels and tables about if some of the students decide to enjoy their meals outside on nice days. The back half is arranged as a training area adorned with some weapons and dummies next to a few obstacles.

Brennia | Within the courtyard along the back wall and somewhat hidden within the beautiful garden there is a building that looks like some type of warehouse/storage area that’s been turned into a campaign office. Students are busting to and fro, some going for the greenhouses for Professor Zuf’s classes while others are volunteering at the campaign office for Brennia. Unable to sit idly by while her students, castle and herself get attacked she had decided to run for Senator of Schezerade against her enemy Vermillion Draft (full on corrupt businessman/politician). They have found a great concept art for campaign posters and pretty much one whole wall was covered inch by inch with the flyers. Brennia, herself was in a windowed office with the blinds drawn as the sun has not been her friend lately with all these curses going on (which Vermillion could care less about By. The. Way.!*theatrical scoff*) Brennia is different in many ways from the times of ‘pet collecting’ and leisurely days and the last time she was in the hotspring she actually killed like four people, but IC secrets! What??? They were attacking her and her friends - don’t judge… Anyway. Sporting a deep blue suit with long swishy pants that almost look like a skirt and a blazer that have the sleeves rolled up a quarter of the way (tre chic) she was pacing around her office which was also occupied by her bodyguard, Daermon.

Xzavior, having returned once more from an extensive leave, was making rounds. Visiting those he’s neglected for a period of time and making sure everything was in good standing still. Even if said friend was one who could hold their own in any given situation, he thought it appropriate to let them know that the naga was alive and well. Riding in on a snow white wyvern, he landed in front of the castle, having seen the changes made from a fair distance away. When the naga landed, he patted the side of Leifa’s neck. Thanking her for the trip and looking over the castle he once knew. Curiously watching the people go by, he stopped one just to ask where he could find the owner. Brennia. Given quite the surprised look. Whether it be because he was a naga in a sky city, the fact he rode on a wyvern. Or was naked. He didn’t care. Once the direction of where he could find her was pointed out, he was on his way to find her office. Quite curious about all these changes

Brennia | A motherly looking halfling approaches Xzavior from out of nowhere, this lady’s essence is tied to the structure - I swear, because nothing gets passed this woman. Some students may think the nude naga odd, but most of them just go on with their day without judgement, some friendly waves, but everyone seems too busy to care for lessons are about to start. “Hello sir!” The halfling woman is craning her neck to look up at the gentleman, “I heard you were looking for Dean Smyth - oops, I am sorry. I mean Senatorial Candidate Smyth, yes?” Of course he is and it was as if he didn’t even have to answer, “this way, dear.” Her welcoming presence and warm way of speaking reminds most of a mother. On the way the halfling woman makes idle chatter of where he’s from, oh!? What a long journey - how are things there? Yadda, yadda until they make their way through the courtyard gardens and to the campaign office where she walks right up to a six foot six avian man who is dressed in a professional suit, “excuse me! Mister Corvo?” The avian man turns his stormy grey eyes down to the woman with delight, “Miss Dewfoot-Barrows! How are you, lovely? What can I do for you today?” The halfling is blushing and beaming a smile up at the avian, “Mister Corvo, a friend of Brennia’s- I mean Senatorial Candidate Smyth is here.” She makes introductions after Corvo playfully reprimands the halfling, “miss Dewfoot-Barrows, you know you can call her Brennia.” He chuckles softly and shortly before directing Xzavior to the more private office that is Brennia’s. With a light rapping on the door he opens it after being directed to do so, “there is a gentlemen naga here to see you.” A sound of surprise sounds from Brennia, but offers to let him in anyway… A quirk of her brow seeing the naked naga and her bodyguard in the distance doesn’t look so impressed, but either way she smiles warmly at Xzavior, “merry meet. How have you been?”

Xzavior | Well, naked wasn’t all too terrible for him. Shirtless was more accurate. After all, he was half naked most of the time in any case. Being lead along by the halfling, he cheerfully answered any question or inquiry she had to throw his way. Not so worried about anything he let known be used against him at some point by this little woman. However, he was always aware that the place that he was once in just a few months ago had taken some serious changes. Making note of each one as they continued along, he knew he’d have some questions to ask when he finally greeted the avian once again. When they stopped to meet the second person, he gave a slight bow to the man before following him to the room in question. Ignoring the lingering eyes of the guard, he gave a little more of an exaggerated bow as he said, “Well met yourself. I’ve been decent in my travels. I must say. It seems this castle has taken on quite the number of people since I’ve last been inside these walls.”

Brennia and Daermon a quiet for a moment while Brennia looks distracted, peculiar and as if on queue the human seeming man dips his head in greeting before saying, “I’m going to step out for a cigarette.” Soft click of dress shoes bring him to the door, but the cold glacial stare of the man doesn’t leave Xzavior as he leaves out the door. Oddly enough there is an ashtray in the room as if they already smoke in here. “Ah, yes. It’s known at the Smyth College of Bardic Arts now. After my last heartbreak I had to occupy my time with something or else the darkness was going to consume me. I also direct a lot of bards guild meetings there as well, but recently I’ve taken on a new busy schedule of running for senator of Schezerade.” It was not a decision she made lightly and judging by her tone and the fact she seems less playful and more exhausted one could gather it is actually necessary for the avain to be doing this rather than something ambitious and a fun challenge.

Xzavior | When the vampire left, the naga regarded him with just a nod. The icy glare practically ignored. After all, the cold never bothered the naga anymore then the wind would. Once he was gone, Xzavior took a more comfortable position, listening in and nodding from time to time. He could understand the need to occupy her time. Himself having had personal experience with such a thing himself. Both heartbreak and letting his darker thoughts dominate his mind. Upon hearing that she was both running a school and running for senate, the naga raised a brow. Shaking his head some and saying in a joking way, but was very serious about it. “All work and no play makes Bre a dull girl. I’m curious. When was the last time you’ve taken time to relax or unwind even?” Perhaps he was a bit too lax. Especially in the situation he himself was in. But he could balance it out well enough to enjoy his day and get work done. “I’m glad you’re doing so successfully but I’m a bit concerned about how stressed out you must be with all this pressure you’re surely under.”

Brennia gives a humored type smile to the naga making sure to keep her focus on his face. “I could be dull at times.” When the mentions of suggesting Brennia to relax come up, the excellent hearing vampire heard, but couldn’t interfere and possibly closed the door to the main bulding a little too hard… Jealousy is a damn of a thing. Brennia’s smile didn’t falter though, “I’ve got some excellent helpers that took over my class and responsibilities of Dean. My focus can be on the campaign thanks to them.” She relaxes her bum to sit upon the edge of her desk and she crosses one leg over the other, “it is stressful being a constant target for attacks lately, but that’s what my bodyguard is for and he helps remind me to take a break, have a smoke, relax.” Confidant and suggestive smile curves those plump lips up. Tattooed hands rest atop her knee, “tell me, Xzavior, what brings you here today?” That gilded tongue says the name upon her subtle Vereitain(French) accent, as it only comes out in the attempt of other people’s names. Still alluring as ever, but just more reserved about it.

Xzavior | The tip of the naga’s tail flicked at the slam of the door, but otherwise he was as passive as he was when he entered. Nodding at her explanation that she still had time to relax and such thanks to the people here and her guardian. But that only brought on another topic for him to go off of. “What brings me? Well. To check on the well beings of friends old and new and to let them know that their favorite cryomancer hasn't slipped into some void. Never to return.” that, and he wasn't sure if he had visited her after he had regained control of himself. The changes were there for her to see as well. When they first met, he would have looked like the kind of youth just starting his journey. Full of confidence and excitement that little could match. The change was more cynical and brash. Now? Well, his attitude explains itself. “Ive another question though. When was the last time you've been beyond these walls? I understand you are under attack. But I’m sure you would be perfectly safe, and I can assure such a thing, if you were to leave with me. I can't be for certain on where we’d go but I believe there is something.”

Brennia gives a subtle shrug, “I’ve left here or there in the flying coach. I won’t be able to go much of anywhere during the day due to the severe solar allergy and I’m sure you’ve heard of Alithrya’s curse..” Explains why all the thick blinds and curtains are pulled, but he’s piqued her curiosity, “we were friends?” A smirk as she remembers exactly what they were and he wasn’t the only one at that time, but those days are behind her. Brennia knows all about cynical, it was why she only entertained open relationships for so long. She can’t really read him anymore by body language or expression so she tentatively asks, “not even one guess where we would go?” His next answer to that would tell her all she needed to know if he was expecting more or not.

Xzavior | Her not being able to read him was encouraging to him in a very different way. But the fact that she seemed nervous about him didn’t. Tilting his head when she brought up the curse, he furrowed his brows and asked, “No, I’m actually not very sure what you mean by the curse. I’ve only ever known about the one freezing all the naga and Jaize…” he muttered before standing up a bit straighter. “As for a guess, I’m going to have to think of somewhere where you won’t have to deal with too much sun. After all, I want to try and make sure you’re having fun for a change instead of stressing out about this or that.” And he’d rather not have to learn of ways to take care of a solar allergy. Allergies weren’t his thing. Mortal wounds were.

Brennia looked a little concerned, but chalked it up to him recently returning, “apparently… There is no one coming out of Alithrya and no one going in because they’ve developed a panicked fear about water… Hydrophobia, so being underwater, they are trapped.” A soft sigh, “so when I’m not working on the campaign with Corvo I’m studying up on Vakmatharas and trying to come up with a cure to these curses.” Brennia wasn’t nervous about him, just his motives because at the moment she can do friendly, but nothing more. There’s no more room in her schedule these days for that kind of fun they used to have, but pressing on and trying to get a less vague idea of his intentions she offers, “I do a lot of errands when the sun goes down under the cover of night.” Deep blue eyes fixate on a random spot upon the wall behind him for a moment, distracted mentally by a telepathic conversation.

Xzavior | He clenched his jaw a bit when he heard that and gave a soft sigh. This was going to add even more issues to the ones already presented in that area. He wasn’t sure if any of this had affected him or not. He wasn’t in the city for a while. For risk of being caught by the tyrant. “Then perhaps I should see if I can’t help speed up the process in these cures eh? This is just as important to me as anything else I can be doing right now.” Which included rallying supporters for helping to take back Alithrya. “But having to stick to all the work being done at night must really mess with a sleep schedule.” He added in a more light tone. Something else that he knew about very well. Hey, he used to be a perfectionist when it came to his magicks.

Brennia nods once, “that would be grand. If you can get in and out of Alithrya without having a panic attack that would help them a lot I’m sure. I feel like this would be a lot better if Reginae was still around… Granted I’ve only met the woman once, but she was very pleasant and it’s a shame what that Jaize did,” she shudders remembering the scene, but also has no information that Reginae is still around all incognito or that she was actually the rogue male at the Schezerade summit recently. “The Information I have right now is that is has to do with bards. I need to get all my guild members together and come up with a spell we can tie to a song to see if that works.” This was probably something outside his realm and doesn’t expect him to help out in that regard. “It can, but my bodyguard goes everywhere with me. He’s on twenty-four-seven duty appointed by Corvo… It was either him or someone I’ve never met and do not know. With how deep the Flewminati runs I didn’t want to risk being in a situation I couldn’t get out of.”

Xzavior | “You could say she was like a sister to me.” He said in a softer tone. Clearly still rather saddened by the event. But that didn’t hide a flash of betrayal he felt. Sister to a tyrant… and she never bothered to tell him. Moving past that as quickly as it came he blinked away the past and said, “Perhaps things would have been better. Perhaps not. I thought and still think I can bring about a better future so I still wish to take the throne by first getting rid of Jaize.” And even if he was interested in helping out with her songspell, he wasn’t sure he could even be able to. Sure, there was something he knew how to play, but he wasn’t about to dig that out just to create a spell. He wasn’t sure what that would do in the long run. “Having someone familiar is indeed better. But, if he’s so avid on staying by your side, I won’t complain. But having someone with such a stiff spine may elude from the goal here.” He teased, knowing the vampire could still hear.

Brennia’s expression softens when she slips off her seated position from her desk to stand, “I’m sorry for your loss, Xzavior.” A hand reached out and gently rested on his shoulder… How awkward it is now. Nevertheless he’s moving onto another subject, “well. Just like I would be for Reginae I am there for you and support you.” A genuine smile before there was a knocking at the door, it’s Corvo. They need to take the flying coach out to meet with some people, should take the rest of the day. Brennia nods and says she will be right out and once the door closes again she slips her arms up around Xzavior’s shoulders for an embrace. Her frame still rather pliable against his more rugged form, “I’m glad you’re back. Be seeing you around, yeah?” She pulls back and a hint of that alluring Brennia showed with a bright smile that pokes dimples into caramel cheeks. “Merry part until we merry meet again.”

Xzavior | Awkward wasn’t how he’d describe the situation in his opinion. But, he was appreciative of the gesture nonetheless. Rolling his shoulders when the other man came on in, he raised a brow before lightly nodding once more. Smiling as she wrapped her arms around him, he went to do the same. When she went to leave, he couldn’t help but chuckle softly. “Never heard anyone use those terms before. So posh.” He’d have to stop by more for sure. If just to help solve this curse deal. He needed his people at full attention when rebuilding their city. Or taking it back for that matter. Taking his leave, he mounted Leifa once more and set off back to his forest home for the day.
