Part of the Sharknado Arc

Part of the Of Contracts and Families Arc

Synopsis: Scandal and Elioyahazer meet on the deck of the ship while cruising towards twister island. The two have a discussion about a specific weapon. They also discuss how both of them are living a life without meaning. Lost. Adrift like the boat they currently find themselves on. They head to the mess hall to get some food and discover that "Chef Larry" is far from a fit cook. He's fired, made to eat his own food and Eli and Scandal replace him.

Troubled Times Calls For New Cooks?

Elioyahazer can be found near the center of the ship on deck, sitting with both of his legs crossed. A peculiar item pulled out within his hands; the weapon given to him by Scandal. His mutated and discolored eyes shift over the blade further studying it, knowing that Dyraxdiin is somewhere overhead keeping a look out for the crew. Besides, what else did a desert dweller have to do on a ship beside fight seasickness? Of that he’s already gone his rounds. Like a champ he swallowed a tonic down that made this whole journey much easier for himself. But now that quiet time had suddenly found him, he thought it best to study this peculiar item. Where did Scandal say it was from again? He couldn’t reproduce the lands foreign sound even if he gave it a full attempt. His own harsh accent would fumble it. Beyond just that Eli’s left arm is bandaged, evidence of the healing the ex assassin has gone through upon the ship. A rather cheeky healer with the touch of a wrecking ball took care of him. His name is Russell. Couldn’t the guild afford to hire better help?

Scandal growled as he came onto the deck. The towering character showing only mild irritation as he pulled himself out of the entrance to the deck below. Obviously the person he had traveled with was driving him crazy, and the temptation to hurl the occupant overboard was ever increasing. As soon as he stood up, he eyed the deck searching for a distraction, any if there were to be had. Like Sandman, Scandal himself had been injured but, unlike him, the pain was absent, Scandal shapeshifting was more painful than any mortal wound these days so he hadn't even felt the shaft that had been thrusted through him. Like Eli he had submitted himself to Russells' assistance, and similarly he wore a thick bandage around his waist, stained silver by his blood. Taking a seat next to the man, leaning his back against the mast, He sighed. "Hows your recovery going? My sister mothering you yet, like my girlfriend isn't doing?"

Elioyahazer looks from the weapon to the annoyed features of Scandal and his comments. Doing his best to brush off a laugh of mild amusement. If he’s so troubled by her, Eli would gladly help him toss blue overboard. He is a man used to taking lives after all. “Well, I’ve suffered worse. That much is true. But never have I been manhandled the way Russel just did.” He shifts in his seat a little bit and straightens his back. “I think I need to visit one of those back doctors and have my spine realigned. Seriously. Like I slept on a log last night. You know, an irritating pain in the lower back that just won’t quit throbbing. My back wasn’t even injured!” He stifles down his laughter with a cough. His back hurt something fierce. He was sure going to report Russel to the board… The board of.. Well.. Healers. Or something. “But no, she hasn’t been mothering me at all. I wish she would. But I’m afraid she’s injured too and wants to keep up the appearance that she’s not playing favorites. You know, that whole schpeal.” The weapon is flipped in his hands and eyed once more. “So what’s blue done to ruffle up those scales of yours?” Eli quirks his eyebrow mid sentence.

Scandal nodded, "You should stop by my house in Venturil, I know its a little crazy but my house has an excellent illusionary healer, it can probably and likely properly fix your back. As for the pain..." Scandal plucked a scale off of his neck, revealing a fresh darker coat of scales beneath. Handing him the scale. "Wash that, and then grind it into a powder and mix with a stong alchol, your pain will stop." Scandal took a breath and in and then out as the topic of blue was approached. "Oh that woman, wants all of her ducks in order, and keeps pestering me about grabbing that cabin boy for her to eat, otherwise she won't let me get a moments quiet, and she threatens to expose a little secret of mine to all of you, if i don't."

Elioyahazer lofts another brow before turning towards Scandal giving him his full attention. The scale and the mention of what to do with it is noted, and he pockets it promptly. Dragon scales were a valuable commodity and he didn’t feel like sharing. Like a villain caught doing something nefarious, his mutated eyes shift around the deck to make sure no one saw the item he secretly hid. When he’s satisfied he looks to Scandal once more. “She’s threatening to eat someone? Should I hogtie her and throw her in the cells below deck? We need all of our crew members here. I could even gag her too. That way she doesn’t even have the chance to blab to everyone.” Of all things, Elioyahazer understood secrets far more than most. Half the guild refers to him as ‘Sandman.’ So for a moment he feels sympathetic to Scandals plight and offers, although in a joke, to rid him of the problem temporarily. As for revealing that secret, Elioyahazer wouldn’t pry. He finds that most come out with those dark things when they feel ready too. When that bit is settled he further inquires about the weapon within his hand. “So I’ve done a bit of studying on this.” He points to the weapon to further declare the topic. “And you’re right. I’ve never seen anything like it. Could you tell me a little about it?”

Scandal chuckled, "If her desire was to eat somone as meal, then yes I would drag her down to the cells below myself, but unfortunately what she wants to do when she says eat, is a matter that is not appetizing to think about," he glanced at Sandman, "Not like the first thought that comes to your mind no, but unsettling none the less. But if you could give her something to knock her out for a few days..." He let the sentence hang, and leave Eli to come up with something. As the topic changes to the weapon on hand Scandal immediately nods. "sure, Thats a Celestium Shiv," (The blade is long enough to be a two handed sword) "Dragon's from the Seven Cities of Uldenbraug back when I was a youth used to use these things to inflict severe injury to dragons, namely specfic dragons, or so I have seen when i saw one used." He thinks back on the memory of the how one dragon, drew a sword version of that shiv, and cut through the another dragon's tail as if the tail had been made of soft butter, it ignored scale and bone, but when it had touched the users hand by accident it, shattered on impact. "You won't find this alloy in any mine, much less any store, i don't think the ally can be replicated."

Elioyahazer finds Scandals response to his liking. “For a few days? Not a problem.” He offers a childlike grin over how they just plotted the slumber of his Girlfriend. That headache would be gone for a few days and Scandal would find himself able to breathe. Besides, blue isn’t a member of the guild and is annoying his girlfriends adopted brother. He would most definitely step in and help him. He’s just not used to freely using his abilities for such things as lovers quarrels. Well… That’s not entirely true either. “Interesting. An alloy that can’t be replicated. Can it hold an enchantment?” He presses for more answers still, though his tone is off. It’s not that he isn’t interested in the conversation at hand. There’s just a few things that have been bothering him of late. “Or does the properties of the alloy itself not work well with such things.” He finds himself rather curious about this weapon, even more so than he had been before. “Does it work on modern dragons?” He knows that Scandal himself is old and maybe perhaps this weakness had vanished over the years.

Scandal eyes smiled in similar plottation of Blue untimely napping. Scandal may have missed the tone at first but he caught on to it as Sandman continued to speak, it might have noticed that Scandal's tone as well was off, with distractions of his own. "You got me on the enchantmenting of it, I wasn't a maker of these back in those days I only saw the effects of how it was used. Though, I do recall though that, when the alloy is melted down, the blood of another dragon who is the enemy would be poured into the liquid before it was poured into the mold, supposedly i guess that made it deadly to owner's breed through its blood, and that’s why it would shatter against any other foe." He took a splinter of wood from the cask and drug it on the blade, causing a small scratch in it. "As you can see its not a tough alloy, despite it being able to kill with such ease." He spoke again after a breath, "I wouldn't know I haven't tested it on any dragon from this time, though if anything the label when i discovered this in the tomb it was buried in, the language said the last blood mixed was that of ice dragons." He sighed for a moment, he had just asked Sandman for a favor about his own personal life, and now he felt he needed to return the favor. "Something troubling you?"

Elioyahazer is taken back when Scandal reveals that the weapon is often melted down and then imbued with a specific type of blood to target it against said Dragon. He’s even more baffled when Scandal uses a piece of wood to scratch the surface of the blade. Intriguing indeed. “I see.” He offers in response, but to Scandals latter question he falls silent. “You ever been lost Scandal? Without guidance? Without a clear path before you? Without any form of personal identity?” He sheathes the weapon and brings himself to a stand, his stomach was rumbling something fierce and the two would need some of the ships morning gruel. “It’s difficult to explain, so I’ll just give you the short and curlies of it all.” He takes a step towards the mess hall hoping that Scandal followed. “Basically, my memories were altered by a Shaman. Everything I thought I was, is a lie. Now that it’s all cleared up, I find that I naturally hate what I am. Nothing makes sense. Your sister is the only solid thing in my life. Been there with me every step of the way.” He takes a deep breath as he steps into line with the others. “I suppose I’m saying that I’m not what I want to be, but you see, I don’t know -what- I want to be.” His whole story is rather confusing, and he’s sure that if he divulges more, Scandal will most likely lose his interest.

Scandal turned his attention to Sandman. "I am always lost, I am alone, likely the last member of dragons from my time, I don't know how to be the dragon I ought to be, much less live up to the standards set before a hybrid like me." His tone is sympathetic, and understanding as if every word he spoke was true, which it was, "I haven't been memory wiped, though I don't know if thats possible for me, but I will say your not the only one whose lost, I tried being a banker once, and then a fisherman, and then, or now actually I just hide inside my Hall, and try not to deal with what plagues me and my life, its not healthy, but I like you i don't know what else to do either."

Elioyahazer nods to Scandals words once more. Here they were, two people out of place, stuck on a ship for the Adventurer’s guild. Now he’s suddenly wondering if more people here were lost. Were Khitti, Tiber, Taly, Aira and all the others helplessly adrift in the currents of life, much alike this boat? With the click of his teeth he changes the topic, while grabbing his plate of gruel. “Next!” Larry the cook calls out and eyeballs Scandal. If he was eating it was now or never. “So let me get this straight, you’re just as lost as I am?” Was Lanara his anchor as well? “Well, I think we will find our paths sooner or later right?” Elioyahazer doesn’t even know if he can swallow those sad words down himself. It’s true that he too had tried his hands at other things. Heck, Lanara tried to turn him into a professional cook. He shoveled animal fecal matter at the sanctuary for a while. He -hated- that because he felt like what he was shoveling. Not to mention smelling like it at the end of the day. “You know what we need?” He turns his attention to his newfound friend. “An adventure of our own. Perhaps get lost somewhere for a while. Find out what we are truly made of. Maybe that will help?” Great, now he’s not only lost, but he’s being optimistic about it. Thanks Lanara for that bit of influence; he does love her regardless of his bubbly outburst. However, it still stands. Once this Sharknado thing is said and done, these two should head off for a time.

Scandal following Sandman, as the cook eyed him with the mention of food. Scandal swallowed, Larry's cooking was terrible, period. If it were up to him, he might have seasoned the cook and broiled him in his own gruel. At least chef's fat likely would have improved the flavor. But Scandal held his peace and accept the steaming grey slop that chef so generously poured onto his plate. Scandal looked at it bubble and gurgle as a few flies swooped toward it only fall short of their mark dead from the stench. "Oh you know its bad..." he mumbled, "When the files die." He glanced at Eli, "Yes, the difference is only the time table, your not likely 50, and I am in two weeks time, likely to be in my 3rd million. Granted I did sleep for most of the time, but that does quell the heartache of being lost, I have anchored my heart on many things, but nothing like what some people could say as their sole, anchor. What keeps me going, is the fear and the denial of becoming what I desire not to be. Nature would have me be a greedy power hungry beast who thinks only of himself and uses all things not himself as his puppets and little playthings, that is not the creature i want to become, and thats what drives me to be better than i am. Abliet I will stumble, its inevitable, just last week, i stumbled and now I have a problem that i am hoping you'll be handling?" He said pointing with this thumb claw towards the deck doors. "Of course with everything you deny, something else rises to replace it, but if you fight it, you prevent it from owning you."

Elioyahazer looks towards his own plate of gruel. Damnit, at least Scandals flies missed their mark. They not only landed in his, but it looked as though they were partying in it, like his slop was some kind of hot springs. Wait a minute, he glares down at the plate once more. What is that smell? Finally, his features green from the stench, he turns to Scandal after his words. “Alright I can’t take this. There are flies having a kegger in my meal.” He lifts the tray and points it out for ‘chef’ Larry. “Seriously, if this food were fine dining this restaurant would be called steamy botulism. I’m so appalled that you’re serving this to my guild mates. You know what?” He pauses, the veins bulging in his neck. “Grab your jacket and packet. Get the hell out of my kitchen. I’ve got it from here on out.” Eli dips his fingertips into the disgusting meal and flicks the contents in Larry’s direction. “I swear, the crew members Lanara hires will be the death of us all. First Riordan. Then Russell, and now Larry.” The cook looks furious but leaves the kitchen without so much as a fuss. Eli snatches a jacket for himself and gets to work. “Give me just a little bit folks and well have something worthwhile!” Eli would end the conversation with Scandal and get to work, serving up something that’s actually edible; not just delicious. Even Lanara knows, he’s a fantastic cook.

Scandal :: Had Scandal had the face to smirk he would have. Larry's ejection from the Kitchen was well deserved, and more important the entire crew would not be getting sick from his stomach churning food. Grabbing Larry by the shoulder, he said, "You know Larry every great chef, ought to eat his own food, at least once." His eyes glinted evilly, as Larry's eyes widened with Horror. "No Please, i swear, I won't, don't feed me that, the rats i swear were char broiled rotting for days, Let alone the cat that got eaten by those fish people.." Scandal moved menacingly with the platter of food as Larry tried searching for a way to escape. "Help Somebody help!" His screams started as scandal caught the mans jaw, and bent the plate forcing the food down the former chef's throat. Forcing him to swallow. As He turned to move away, Larry croaked with agonizing scream, "Maybe I should use your eggs next time, since you make so many of them!" Scandal stopped. His head turning towards Larry, a very very very dark expression forming. "Say would you mind repeating that I didn't quite hear you clearly."

Elioyahazer was trying to let Scandal have his moment, but when it turned to such things, a hand is placed on Scandals arm. “Hey, he’s not worth it. Let Lanara deal with him. I could use a hand back here in the kitchen. No more violence on the ship, unless we come under attack, okay?” Without further word, Eli pulls Scandal in his direction. “You’re lucky chef Larry. Have a great day!” The two, would then find themselves the new cooks for the remainder of this journey.

Scandal growled, his eyes hellbent murdurous as he turned from larry and towards the kitchens. Still the idea of deboning the cook by pulling it all like fish out of his mouth still sounded like a splendid thing, It would have to wait. Maybe he'd get eaten by something, or pushed off the ship in the night, anything was likely better than what Scandal felt he ought to have done to him. "Sophilla's coming up."
