Synopsis: Joan and Zahrani discuss how to improve their healing capabilities, as well as meeting up when neither of them are working.

Chapel of Rest

Joan was moving about the chapel, setting program leaflets in chairs and making minute adjustments of a chair here and there going about her duties as funeral assistant, the vampiric healer somewhat distracted.

Zahrani wanders into the chapel, sneaking a peak at one of the leaflets. She feline paladin is in her more elf-like form, her black tail swishing beneath a cooling summer dress spun with yellow and blue geometric patterns. It would seem the paladin is taking a break from her duties today, though her healing powers and divine aura are always on-hand. She spots Joan, a warm smile on her face. She had hoped her friend would be here. "Need any help?" she asks the vampire.

Joan looms up and turns with a ready smile on her icy pale lips as she glances over Zahrani, “Sure, can you give the flowers in the vases up by the podium a sprucing up?” She juts her chin towards the podium where two massive vases sat opposite of each other. “Been meaning to track you down and see if you still wanted to help me with some healer things.”

Zahrani walks up to the vases, rearranging the flowers, while the residual divine aura from the feline makes the blooms appear to become less wilted and more lively. Not a standard use of her healing abilities, but surely no one will complain. Looking from the floral arrangement back to the vampire, the athletic jaguar woman raises a brow in interest. "What did you have in mind?"

Joan gives a rolling one shoulder shrug as she moves to grab up one of the large floor sweepers, moving about to give the whole area a good sweep. “I need to practice more on the living, so a few clinic rounds up at the House of Ara, and helping out at the little healing hut near the tavern.”

Zahrani is not entirely certain what it has to do with her. She brushes a braid out of her face absentmindedly while Joan conducts a sweep of the chapel before asking, "My type of healing is through the Divine, and I have trained as a combat medic. How can I help, as far as 'you getting to practice on the living' is concerned?"

Joan paused in her sweeping as she gives her feline friend a playful smile, “Well, since I deal mostly with the dead and undead, I tend to not notice when my healing energies turn colder. For working on the living I need to channel the more warmer brighter power. You can help me if you are close by and let me know if and when it tends to turn chilly. Since I’m a necromancer first the death energies are what I reach for first when I tend to heal. Knitting cold dead flesh together comes naturally to me.” She chuckles as she puts the floor sweeper away in a nearby closet, turning to face her friend as she gives slight toss of her head, her amethyst color hair catching the overhead lights. “I can do normal medic tending and such with the living, I just need to focus to make sure my natural ‘cold grave abilities’ don’t overtake a normal magical healing.”

Zahrani nods in understanding, "Ahh....Of course. I would be glad to help you with such a practice. It gives me an opportunity to use my own healing prowess as well." She approaches the vampire, her dress flowing with each quiet footstep. "I'm proud of how far you've come since we've met. If you want to start practicing now, I got this while climbing on unsure footing earlier..." She holds up her forearm, revealing a rather nasty bruise on the underside of it.

Joan purses her icy cold pale pink lips together as she closes the small distance between her and ‘Rani, the vampiric healer outstretches her gloved hands, lightly probing the bruised area the feline indicated with her bare fingers, (her gloves where after all fingerless) “Hmm, yes thank you for that I do try to be polite and kind to everyone I meet and interact with, you know the old saying, ‘You catch more flies with honey rather then vinegar’ a brighter smile given as she goes on with her assessment aloud, “slight sprain, you did knock the area pretty good to get that coloring of a bruise.” She comments as she now slightly cups her hands over the area, she focuses slowly, letting off a light purple magical aura from between her cupped hands, gathering her inner energies to allow a warm breath of her power to flow towards the bruised area. “Think warm balmy weather Joan…” She speaks out softly.

Zahrani watches carefully while Joan practices her healing abilities on her injury. The feline senses the warm energy emanating from the vampire's hands. She detects a slight draft of cold power reserved for necromancy, but ultimately the warmth wins out, stitching blood vessels and muscle tissue back together. She places a warm hand on her friend's shoulder, "Well done, Joan." The paladin looks up at the woman's bright amethyst hair, admiring the color before her cyan eyes return to the face beneath it.

Joan slowly pulls her healing energies back into her hands and then channels the remaining warm healing power to warm up her naturally chilly flesh, giving her a slight pink flush on her natural ivory skin. “Thanks! That wasn’t so hard. The only two other magical healings I got under my belt on the living has been on Emilia for my entrance exam, and Leoxander after his Titans of Winters match against Shishi, so you get the honor of being the third living being I’ve practice my healing power on.” Hands rest on her hips as she gives the spruced up inner chapel a good inspection before turning to lead the way towards the entrance of the main room, “I have some goodies set up out here for the mourners coming in, I can offer you some and a spot of tea as thanks.”

Zahrani grins at the notion of only being the third living person Joan has healed. "Well, I cannot heal myself with my power." At the offering of refreshments, the paladin says, "Just tea will be fine."

Joan gives a nod as she enters into the chapel’s main room, a long table was setup slightly out of the way that was set up with small finger sandwiches and the like, another smaller circular table set up with the chapel’s classic tea and coffee set out on display. “Will chamomile do? I have earl grey and peppermint also.” She offers with a hand flourish over the teapot and dainty china tea cups, the director coming with with a nod and general question of if the inner chapel was ready for the incoming mourners, the older human gentleman giving a pleased nod towards Joan once she answers him.

Zahrani accepts peppermint tea from Joan, moving off to the side to sip the beverage before asking, "It seems this is the only place we ever meet up. Would you like to meet on the beach sometime? It cools down in the evenings, and some friends and I are thinking of camping out some evening."

Joan reaches up to pinch and rub at her earlobe as she thinks, “Hmm, well I do work here…and I tend to stay holed up at my cottage in Vailkrin often or the Black Spire…I tend to not socialize outside of you and a handful of others, it is a given that I should venture out more. I can give it a try, let me know ahead of time of where and when and I’ll do my best to attend. Portable coffins welcomed?” She jokingly ask her feline friend as she now also indulges in a fresh hot cuppa tea, sipping slowly to savor the flavor before eyeing the snacks and sandwiches…she better not and wait till after the funeral service once Zahrani answers her Joan would need to finish her tea before moving towards the inner chapel entrance to take her place as an usher for the now incoming mourners.

Zahrani finishes her tea, before saying, "Of course. I'll let you know. Bring whatever you need for the evening..." with a chuckle. She offers a small wave when the vampire returns to work, and the paladin weaves her way out of the chapel and back to the Isran Collective.
