Part of the Time Heals All Wounds Arc

Synopsis: Qin is looking to join the Healer's Guild, and their masculine form approaches Penelope at the hut in Kelay. The two are enthusiastic, and Penelope lets his magic work on a child's broken bone. The only thing is, it leaves a scar. Even though scars do not define individuals, Qindrephyss looks to learn beyond leaving the scars behind on the healed, but Qin also has much to learn. For that, Penelope welcomes him to the Healer's "Club"--she means Guild.

Kelay Healer

Qindrephyss me landed somewhere near the mystical auras in the woods, and allowed their form to shift. Today they felt less feminine, and took on a more masculine appearance. He, for now, brushed his hands down his cloak to make sure that it was clean and smooth before walking south and to the east. He smiled at the sound of bells tinkling upon his entrance. Non-dragons were so charming. The ways they liked to announce the presence of others was cute to him. In any case, he added an additional knock to the door's side, not wanting to startle anyone inside. "Hello?" his voice was smooth and low today. "I was referred here, I'm seeking miss Penelope Halifax?" He stood patiently, hands folded together as he waited for a response.

Penelope :: The hut had an exchanging of several patrons throughout the day. Children with over-worried mothers, to people with broken limbs, to people with sudden illnesses looking for prescribed herbal medicine. Penelope had been flipping through papers to sort through some herbal mixtures--making sure they were not losing any recipe resources. Her face holds the expression of one who is looking through the fog. The system in the hut was very messy, and very cluttered. The woman blows out her lips as she reflects on Lanara’s words. A healing practice. One with filing cabinets, and open space rather than a cooped up bustling room. A cramped room was not the only thickness that came to her head, yet that was on a personal note. The bell gently brushes against the door, and on cue, the frizzy-haired healer lifts her eyes to a masculine figure. A man, in her eyes. Her head cants as she does not recognize the person before her, but this strange greeting was never new. Penelope was known around a lot of parts of Lithrydel. “You’re talking to her,” she smiles before a kid in the background yelps to kill the joy that smoothly passes the Ardelian’s lips. Nothing wrong here as Penelope still keeps that smile plastered on her face. Ruari Erickson, a healer apprentice behind a curtain, had been cleaning up a child’s bloody forehead. With a shake of the Ardelian’s head to shake the background, she speaks, “What can I do ya for?”

Qindrephyss beamed at the woman, his hands reaching to offer to shake hers with both of his. "It is wonderful to meet you, Miss Halifax. I have heard that you are a figurehead for a guild of healers." He peered over his shoulder at the sound of the child yelping. Young folks always made him smile. Dragons didn't see them very often in their own culture. He brought his attention back to her. "I would very much like to offer my own services to it, if they are welcome. And of course," he added, raising a finger up. "I come with a mind open. I have much to learn as well."

Penelope instinctively moves a hand to shake. “Wonderful!” The freckled healer says enthusiastically to match the man before her. “It’s good to meet you too--you!” Of course, eventually she would need a name, but no matter right now. “I am part of the Council, yes. Consider me… Emilia’s right hand.” While the stranger before her peers over his shoulder, Nel takes time to observe the disguised figure. Mostly taking note of the chipperness that reflected off her own. “You’d like to offer your own services, eh?” The girl quirks a brow before sticking her tongue in her cheek in thought. “We are always welcome of new healer members,” she nods to confirm. “Uh,” her lips purse as another wince echoes through the background. “Do you have a name?” She finally asks with a smirk on her face. “And what skills do you have?” The girl slowly begins to walk around the disguised dragon before nearing the curtain where the crying child relies. She does not open the curtain yet. She, instead, waits for an answer.

Qindrephyss clasps both of his hands around hers and grins. "That is excellent, I am glad to hear there is room for me." He released those hands and straightened. "Yes. You can call me Qin. Or Physs." With that came a wink and a scratch of his short-bearded chin. As he began to follow the woman he spoke on his skill. "I am particularly talented with any sort of water or air magic. Water, I have found, is an excellent method of transfering healing energy from one body to the next. It is my primary method of sorting out my own wounds, and the few wounds on others I've had the task of dealing with." He paused a moment. "It is a strong way to deal with injury and illness, and repairs quickly. Unfortunately I haven't figured out how not to leave scars. This is part of why I would like guidance. I'd also be very interested to learn more traditional and non-magic methods, if possible." He glanced at the curtain, already feeling concerned.

Penelope offers a lopsided smile with a wave of grace that washes over her. “Qin. I like it.” The wink makes her smirk before gripping the curtain. She nods along as Qin tells her. “Water and air magic?” Her mind peaks to her twin brother in that instance. “We might have some future people you can work with regarding your magical skills. My brother really knows his stuff. He also inherits water and air magic. I’m more of a fire and earth magic-user myself, but not in the healing sense. Great thing about the guild is that everyone learns off everyone, and we are all equals. We just love to learn and grow.” She sort of rolls her head in contemplation. “As for non-magic, you came to the right person because I’m your girl. My focus is in non-magical clinical work,” with that, she pulls back the curtain. There on the cot is a boy, and… unfortunately, a broken arm. It was a minor start. “I don’t know if you ever reset a broken arm before, but today is the day!” Meanwhile, Ruari is using an enchanted pen to shine a small glowing light into the boy’s eyes to make sure there was no sign of a concussion. “I think he’s good, Ruari. As long as he is not seeing double, nor hurling over,” Penelope was blunt with her terminology sometimes. “Let’s let our new healer and dealer works with his broken arm.” With the gesture that Penelope gives Ruari with her hand, the half-elf moves for Qin to take the front row seat. “Don’t worry, if you have no idea, I will lead ya. I just wanna see what we can do!” She was a very bubbly clinician while the child was groaning.

Qindrephyss's pleased expression remains as she describes her brother's and her own magics. "Learning and growing are the meaning of life, if you ask me. We are placed here with so very much time... what better to do with it, hm?" The expression faltered, however, as the boy came into view. He nodded as she explained his task, and approached the bedside. "Please, may I have a bowl of water?" He asked. A few moments later, once the bowl was procured, he lifted a hand. With his motion, the water raised up in droplets, and seemed to follow his motions as he guided them to the boy's arm and let them rest there. The droplets retained their shape on his flesh, and he hummed to himself quietly. The water slowly but surely began to glow faintly. The boy uttered a sigh of relief- for now, he was simply numbing the limb to offer some relief before the task at hand. He took the arm gently, and uttered a soft apology to the boy, before pulling and twisting gently so that the bone would not overlap or lay crooked until the arm was the same length as the other, before relaxing his grip. He then leaned in, carefully pushing and turning the arm, careful to make sure that the bones were aligned properly. This took quite some time, and occasionally, he repeated the process of moving the numbing water to the boy. Eventually he straightened, and ran his hand down the arm carefully. This time, the places his hand moved over were cleared of bruising, and in those places where may have been open flesh were instead closed, healthy flesh- except marked with silver-toned scarring where the wound had once been. He turned to look at Penelope. "The bone itself still needs time to heal, but the outside is sturdy. Should we wrap it in some way to stabilize it?"

Penelope easily hands off the bowl of water when requested. As the man begins to manipulate the water, the healer’s mouth fades to a flat line of focus to watch Qin work his magic. Literally. The woman was a quick wit, so she was always observing when she could. In the midst of observation, she soothingly talks to the boy on the cot. Talking of how all of his friends will be asking about the ‘cool story’ where the stitches and bruises came from. Penelope’s voice is like silk in this moment when talking to the patient below. Moss eyes glided over to watch the man’s hand reset the bone carefully, and there was an ease as she watched the child sigh with relief from the numbness. Eyes glaze over the scar that was marked with the wound, and she understands what Qin means now. “Hm, I think I know what you are talking about. You know, besides my brother, Emilia and Kailani also have restoration skills, I believe.” A light smile plays on her lips before she catches the man’s gaze. “Otherwise, you have a beautiful technique,” and that was genuine. Penelope was a sucker for a good healing. The girl reaches for some medical wrap, and a dorsal splint to stabilize the arm for now. That way the bone can heal in one place. “Here, first you wrap it,” the girl keeps the arm steady and wraps it. “Then, place this over it. The splint obviously stabilizes it, which you probably know.” The splint sort of looks like a sleeve and she adjusts the splint to hold the arm in place. “Bada bang, bada boom.” The boy was officially patched up.

Qindrephyss stared at the silvery scar. He seemed dissatisfied with it. There was something about a physical reminder of being touched by magic that struck the dragon as... unnatural and sad. He didn't say as much. In any case, he nodded. "I will be pleased to meet all of them," he said before offering a few words of gratitude regarding her praise. He backed away so that Pen could do her work on the rest- taking careful note of how to properly stabilize and wrap the arm. He straightened and smiled to himself, relieved to know that he had not caused more harm than help. "Have I passed this examination," he queried softly, sounding slightly nervous.

Penelope leaned back before staring at the man before her. Her doe-eyes blink once or twice at him as he stares at the scar. “We are so much more than our scars, and they resemble the strength we keep deep within us,” she says softly. Nel knew. Most of her scars became tattoos. One would be noticeable on her left forearm. A jagged scar crafted into iris. After the softness came a look as if he was insane. “Did you pass?” There came a blow of air between her lips after a mild pause. “Would you have ever failed? Everyone starts somewhere.” She grins that dopey grin. “You know how far I’ve come, Qin? At one point, I couldn’t even stitch a cut. I knew nothing. Zero. I was literally baking at a tea shop in Cenril.” She snorts with a bit of laughter. “No matter where we come from, how many times we fail, everyone is welcome. Unless.. Well, you’re intending doom on all of Lithrydel,” she shrugs. “Qin. Welcome to the club!” In the background, Ruari echoes. “Guild, Penelope. It’s not a club.” Penelope smirks before shrugging again and extending her hand for a shake. “It was a pleasure. Feel free to stop by anytime for some practice, and I’ll let Emilia know to seek you out too to take a look at what troubles you. The magic, I mean. With every hill, there is a way, so they say in the stories.”

Qindrephyss seemed to relax at the affirmations, and a grateful expression crosses his features. A wide smile makes its way across his face as the two women welcome him. "Thank you, then. I am glad that I found you." He took her hands in the same manner as before, this time shaking them with much more gusto. "I will do my best to learn and contribute all that I can." Once more releasing those hands he stood straight. "You will see me again very soon," he remarked, before turning and leaving through the same doorway he'd made his entrance through. This time, however, he reached up and tapped the string of bells just so he could hear them ring twice as he left.
