RP:Rory finds an important cloth

From HollowWiki
A section of the Cenril Library where books come to die. Mildew stains the surroundings walls here and bacteria-infested water is left in stagnant puddles, save for the dripping of water from the ceiling. The books here are a collection of ratty, molded pages stored until the librarians can burn them. Bins heaped with useless papers and half-torn books sit along the wall as well. Trash cans reside in the corners holding books too dilapidated to even bother shelving. Climbing back up the stairs is the only way to avoid inhaling the sickening smell.

--Damp Library Basement, Cenril

Rory gave the few librarians milling around the Cenril Library a quick but gallant smile with the visor having been lifted from around his face so that eyes are allowed free range. Jacklin had sent him to the library in search of clues regarding the woman who had been broke free from the cell the night before. If he was unaware of the queen's force before the escape he knew it very well now. Passing from the lingering sight of the librarians he moved before the door indicated in the notes. Mold had grown as ivy would up the front of the door and dribbles of water splashed from the stonework around the door. With several pushes against the door it finally opens to send Rory down into the darkness of the basement.

Rory picked himself off the ground and dusted his armor down while the puddles of water dripped around him. This wasn't a place he really wanted to be right now. But the face of his queen was more than enough to keep him down in this mildew place to search for clues. A lantern had been brought along from Larket and helped him see what was around. The smell was enough to send him fleeing back to the upstairs safety but he stayed here and searched. Moving from moldy stack to trash bin he held the lantern high.

Rory was careful to step around the many puddles throughout the library basement. He picked up a few books now and then to thumb through the pages as if a clue would magically jump out to him and reveal who the murderer of Beatrix was. Putting the books back on the shelf he moved on around the room shining the light lower now than it had been. Maybe something was in one of the puddles? Stepped near the corner of the library he halted and gave a large sigh as he looked around the room. This was useless to be down here so why bother? Rubbing at his eyes he looked to his right where a trash bin set against the wall with water dripping at the back of it. Shining the lantern down he noticed a small slip of cloth jagged around one edge. It looked like it had been ripped on the edge of the bin. Picking it up from the corner he shined the light over it and remembers something suddenly. The color and texture was familiar like he had seen it recently. He had actually found something worth telling the queen! This would surely put him back in the good graces of Sir Roldan, Parsithius, and even Jacklin. Gripping the shirt piece in a closed fist he hurried back to Larket where he would present his prize to the queen.
