RP:Cemetery Cement

From HollowWiki
What was once a spire of darkened creation has been demolished into nothingness. All debris from the Obsidian Tower has been cleared away by the demolisher and left is a patch of land awaiting its turn to be used. In the true nature of Larket, the spot has already been appointed to house the new Larket Cemetery.

--Former Location of Obsidian Tower, Larket

Strex woke up late the next morning, which served him well, but threw him off in the wrong state of mind. He was irritated because he knew what work had to be done. He wondered how a single person was suppose to build an entire cemetary, alone. Ether way, he knew what he had to do to finish the job, and all would take a bit more time. As he ventured out of the cold chilly hideout he slept in day after day, he made his way back to the cemetary, noticing that the horses had not eatten all the food...thankfully. Taking the dirty shovel that rests against the cart, Strex taps it against the cement. "Hardened already?" He asked himself. Then he tried applying a bit more pressure to the cement flooring. Still, it was solid. "Thank you gods!" He shouted. A bit of relif as he grabs up the horses and cart, and makes off for more cement that he knew he needed. When he returned from the Craftsmen Shop with a dozen more bags, he knew that Jacklin would make his payment worth while. Not only did he buy cement for the bricks that were due in for the next two days, but he bought a tool that would smooth out the cement that he would lay in between each induvidual brick, as well as a few large tarps to catch any falling peices of wet cement as he worked on the bricks in the near future. Heaving those heavy sacks of cement, Strex takes a deep breath. "I need a massage..." He told himself as his back began to pain him. Sure he was young, but this work was taking it's toll on him both mentally and physically. He looked at the huge pile of Red Oak wood that had been sitting aside for a few days. "I suppose I should lay these down first." He told himself, knowing it would be a good idea and then to lay the bricks on after.

Taking a deep breath, he cuts open a bag of cement and pours it half full into the already dirty bucket. Filling the rest with water from the well, he mixes it up nicely and pours it on an induvidual area of the already hardened cement to start. Taking numerous planks of the Red Oak wood, he would lay the planks on the wet cement and press it firmly together. Using that tool he picked up, he scraped any extra cement together and placed it back into the bucket to be reused. He did this over and over again, leaving enough space on the dry cement to only lay the bricks for the outter wall. This would take him quite some time to complete before he had all the wooden planks neatly placed down as the flooring. He also made well sure to keep the Red Oak wood neat and clean of the cement by wiping it off with a towel before it dried at all. Once he finished with the flooring, he took a long couple minutes looking it over, wondering if this would work. Yes, this would work just fine. Taking one of those tarps he had purchased, he lays it over the entire flooring and placed four bags of cement over it, one at each corner to hold it down for the night. "Well... Hopefully tommarrow them damn bricks will be in early." He only wished... For now though, he made sure the horses were doing fine, and would take some time to tend to their coats and brush them over, showing them some care and feeding them a bit more before turning in for the night.

When he awoke the next morning, he made the jouney from his hideout in the Sage Forest. Something kept him awake for a good portion of the night. It was a habit he was trying to break. Smoking. Strex had ran out of cigarette which only made his mental state of mind, that much more destracted on his job that he knew had to be finished, soon. He took a few deep breaths, grabbed his bottle o' rum that he always carried, and took a nice gulp to start the day off right. He then makes for the Cemetary in Larket, and once he arrived, a smile was brought to his face. Noone had tampered with his work in the making. After giving the horses a little attention, he walks over to the shop and asks for the manager about the bricks. "They came in last night, yes." The owner said. Strex looked quite surprised actually that they had came in a day early, and asked where they were. "Follow me." The owner said with a smile. He must have been in a good mood since he was getting his filthy hands on most of Strex's own gold. As the owner led Strex to the back of the shop, he noticed three induvidual carts, ment thankfully for horses, over-filled with clean, red colored bricks that were neatly stacked together. Tossing a sack of gold the owners of the shop's way, he nods and says "I will come pick them up in a moment." The owner smiled politely and nodded to Strex, making his way back into the store to tend to other customers. "Knew I should have brought the horses..." Strex told himself as he began to short, but time consuming walk back to the Cemetary. When he arrived, he untied the horses from the tree and hopped on one of them, with the other in tow. Ten he made off back to the shop. When he arrived, he quickly connected one of the carts to the horses and decided to walk them to the Cemetary, knowing it would not be a light load for the two horses. Thankfully, they managed to make it to the Cemetary, where Strex would retie them to the tree and go fetch them some water to drink out of a few other buckets that just rests near the well.

As he turned to look at the cart of bricks, he let out a heavy sigh. Strex knew this day would be long, boring, hot and worst of all... fustrating. He takes his time taking the tarp off the flooring, and opening another bag of cement. As he mixes together another batch he gets his tool, used to scrape up extra cement, and used it now to apply an even layer of cement to the outsideside perimiter of the Main Building's foundation. Laying each brick carfully, and neatly, he made sure each one was exactly level with the other next to it. He continued this process for many hours, taking a few breaks to catch a drink out of his bottle of rum and relax. By nightfall, the outside wall had grown to a good third of what he pictured it would be, and the cart, was empty. The bricks came just up to the middle of his chest, roughly... five to five and a half feet off the ground. "Hmmm..." He began to think. Looking up to the sky, he saw stars, and not a cloud up there. "It's not going to rain." He said confidently. He decided to take the horses back to the shop, so they can drag over another cart of bricks that he would get started on. Yes, Strex was pushing himself tonight. He did not feel tired, or overworked by too much. His back and knees pained him again but he knew it had to be tolorated. As him and the horses haul another cart full of bricks, he whipes the sweat off his forhead and takes off his shirt. He would not bother tieing the horses to the tree, for he was making an experiment with them while he worked. Wondering if they would run off. Strex knew he quit on Lady Arien with the farm managing, but should these horses be returned...was a mystery to her. He wondered if she would even notice.

This part was going to be the worst for Strex. He begins to wander Larket, not going too far from the Cemetary and searches people's backyards. He was looking for something in particular that he needed, a ladder. Finally, he spotted one. There was a problem though, the backyard was guarded by a chained dog, a nasty looking one at that. Immediatly, the hound begins to bark at Strex, causing him to have to back off before he was spotted. He took off to the General Store and purchased a large steak. "Dogs like steaks." He told himself with a small smirk and shrug to follow. Walking back to that same house, he lets the dog spot him on purpose this time, so it knew who gave him this savory little treat. Almost as soon as it started barking, Strex tossed the steak over to him. Then took off for the ladder without a moments pause. Thankfully, the dog was chewing on the steak, rather then chasing him...but he was chewing awfully fast. Heaving the ladder under his left arm, he tries running with it only to loose his balance and fall to the ground, clipping his arm in between the ladder frames. Shouting out one awfully foul word, the dog starts at him and goes to lunge at his leg. Swiftly, Strex uses the other leg to send a hard kick to the dog the moment it's fangs bare down on his flesh. Looking over in the window, he noticed someone looking at him, and with much anger. He got to his feet quickly, and took off with the ladder, hoping the stranger he just robbed would not follow.
