Cenril News

Vailkrin has declared war on Cenril! A massacre was staged at a so-called formal event in the forsaken city. Vailkrin’s leaders have long wanted to annihilate Cenril, this is fact. They lacked public support for such a war, but this massacre gives the leaders the perfect rallying cry against our fair and just city. And who snarled at Cenril alongside the Vampire King? Why, none other than Cenrili Guard General Alice Brommson, who has declared war on her own city (technically she declared war on the Church, but the editors are a bit loose with language when inciting the masses; details are for vampire lovers anyway). The caretaker and owner of a funeral home on Beloy Street was found by Cenril Police Brigade badly beaten in his business early this morning. On the floor in the Chapel was the deceased body of an unidentified Avian woman. Beside her was a bloody coffin filled with finger bones, candles, and a scarf believed to uniquely distinguish members of the cult that has been seen in Cenril over the course of the past year. The cult is also believed to go by the name Nathali. It is unknown if the avian, the caretaker, or some other person affiliated with the funeral home is connected to the cult. The caretaker states that he did not see the faces of his two assailants, although one appeared to be a black haired Feline male and the other a small masked female, possibly lycan or feline. The Cenril Guard and the Police Brigade and formed a pact to further enhance cooperation between the two forces. The Guard and Brigade advise residents to stay indoors and avoid traveling whenever possible. (ooc: Contact Alice if you’re interested in playing a Cenril guard.)

Mythical storms battered Cenril’s port for the better part of 5 days from June 1st to June 5th. Most of the southeastern sector of the city flooded. A mysterious pod was beached, and eye witnesses report that an avian broke free like a sea turtle hatchling. (ooc: Contact Ramiel to get involved.)

In other news, the Church of Cenril was vandalized. There is currently a manhunt for an elf who goes by the name of Maldoff who is suspected of committing this crime. (ooc: Contact Ohan or Maldoff to get involved.)

The Holy Word

Most articles focus on inspiring young men and women of able bodies to take up arms against Vailkrin. One article builds that case that Alice Brommson is just as much an enemy to the people of Cenril as Vailkrin. Although the tone of most of The Holy Gazette would have one believe that the bulk of the City supports the Church, in truth, the Church’s grip on power in tenuous and desperate. Many Cenrilians would like to see the Church’s power wane, and would not be opposed to new, stronger leadership. The Church has not been successful in stemming crime and poverty. Cognizant of this criticism, this article speaks to those skeptical Cenrilians, seeking to convince them that whether or not you agree with the Church and its methods, that conversation should not be settled with the blood of Cenrilians.

Cenril News

West Cenril, or Sin City as some came to call the gambling-addicted, lewd, lawless region of the city, is no more! The Church of Cenril led a raid which proved critical in discovering key evidence to indict West Cenril mogul Maylari Raicleach on charges of embezzlement, tax evasion, fraud, larceny, and grand theft carriage. The business puma has been stripped of all titles and assets, and her shops are closed for business until a verdict is reached.

An inmate has escaped from prison! The Cenrili police are searching for a half-elf named Ohan, 105 years old, but appears to be in his early 20’s by human aging standards. Inmate Ohan has a scar over his left eye and is assumed to be armed. The police warn that he is very dangerous. The convict was serving a life sentence for aggravated assault with a weapon, robbery, and murder. The commissioner informed the Gazette that the inmate escaped by using a sock soaked with chlorine to suffocate a prison guard and escape. Initial investigations suggest that the chlorine was brewed in an outhouse waste pan using reagents the inmate harvested during work-serve gardening duty around the city. The guard, Sergeant Bulisk, died of lung failure. His family and community remember him as a good father, husband, community member, and soldier. He will be missed. The police ask the public to report any sightings of Ohan, whose likeness is illustrated beside this article. (ooc: Contact Ohan to join in on the man hunt!)

Beyond Our Parish

Wishing-Fountaineering, a hot new trend and portmanteau, has taken Schezerade by storm. Desperate, misled people flock to Schezerade, propelled by nothing more than rumors of a fountain which grants wishes. The Church of Cenril cautions that this practice amounts to little more than worship of false idols. All faithful parishioners are encouraged to pray for the Lord’s blessing in attaining their dreams. (ooc: Contact Kenii or Skylei.)

The Holy Word The opinion section continues to prop up The Burrower as a rallying call for the people of Cenril against Vailkrin (boo, hiss). Several articles continue to fuel misinformation and misconstrued information, such as a declaration that The Burrower was created by Vailkrin to terrorize Cenril, and a maudlin piece on the woes of Venturil, a city which historically the Gazette ignores. (ooc: Tene and Tiph for Burrower shenanigans. The arc Venturil’s Bane on the wiki details all Burrower shenanigans to date.)

Cenril News

Several accusations have been lobbed against prominent West Cenril business owner, Maylari Raicleach, linking the wealthy feline to prominent city gangs. Allegations include using the Twin Ball Emporium as a front for laundering money earned through smuggling illicit goods. When pressed for comment, the Cenrili police tasked with investigating these allegations had this to say, “Have you seen the earnings the Emporium pulls in? No way can she earn those margins peddling just balls of twine!” Ms. Raicleach denies having any association with any gang. “My twine is the best twine in all of Hollow. The demand for the twine speaks for itself.”

Reports of The Burrower terrorizing the Underdark went unreported in the Gazette until editors learned of the undead nature of the beast. Now there is an article which declares that Vailkrin summoned The Burrower. The Holy War has begun. Wake up, people of Cenril! The enemy has taken the initiative! The mysterious cult of black-and-purple clad individuals continues to appear in the wake of several deaths, particularly deaths which result from accidents or crime. So far the individuals, described as ‘creepy’ by eye-witnesses, lift tokens from the dead bodies. The Cenrili Police is currently investigating the cult, but does not have enough evidence of wrong-doing to warrant an arrest. The nephew of an elderly man claims that his uncle saw one such individual commit a serious crime. However, the man is wheelchair-bound, mute, and can only communicate through the ringing of a bell. He rings once for yes, twice for no, but sometimes rings twice for an emphatic yes, thus frustrating investigators’ efforts to question the man about what he witnessed. Business

West Cenril is expanding under the coin and entrepreneurial instinct of Maylari Raicleach. This article profiles Ms. Raicleach and her various businesses. The most memorable quote from Ms. Raicleach follows the prompt: “So you have your paws in various markets. You’re in women’s fashion at your flagship store, Maylari’s Secret, but also sell premium twine at the Twine Ball Emporium, books at The Final Chapter Book Store, and own the Raicleach Trading Co., an import-export business. You even own West Cenril nightlife with a restaurant, the Indulgence Steakhouse & Winery, and a pub, The West Cenril Pub. And that’s just Cenril! You also re-opened Something Wicked in Vailkrin, to cater to the darker residents of that city. So just in what business are you?” Ms. Raicleach responded coolly, “I’m in the empire business.”

The Holy Word

This is the opinion section of the Gazette. One column discusses Alice Brommson’s declaration that the militia, the Cenrili Guard, would not support a Holy War against Vailkrin. The article accuses Ms. Brommson of, at best, being too much of a coward to properly defend Cenril from immediate threats, and at worst, working in cahoots with the Undead City.

Cenril News

Armantium is gone! The avian city floated away! Surely this is a sign from the gods that a terrible darkness will soon descend over Cenril in Armantium’s place.

A recent spate of vampire attacks have left desiccated bodies littering the Cenrili perimeter. The Guard and Church alike are on high alert. In an official statement, The Church declared, “The time to act has long come and past. For far too long has The Church preached that the Vailkrin scourge must be dealt with preemptively. We must now react. To not act would be to accept that we are no more than cattle. The Church rejects that.” When reached for comment the Guard urged the need for diplomacy and emphasized the importance of negotiation political agreements with Vailkrin. In response, the Archbishop repeated that “Cenril should not be in the business of negotiating with evil!”

Alice Brommson was promoted to the position of General of the Cenrili Guard following her victory over the menace lycan Alareik.

There is an investigative journalism piece that asks locals about the strange appearance of black and purple clad men and women in the city lately. This faction remains unidentified. Locals report sightings of these individuals near crime scenes and disasters with fatalities. They lift tokens from various corpses. [ooc: Contact Alice for more information on this arc.]

Fisherman greenhorns have been laid off and moored in recent weeks. There has been a drastic and worrying decrease in the quantity of fish hauls. The Captain of the commercially successful Mermaid Filet had this to say when reached for comment: “I [have] never, and I mean never, never, never in my forty years of fishing seen anything like this. This right here is a plague. A curse. A bewitching like any you ever [have] seen in any storybook.” The Church insists that the plague that afflicts the fish is the first sign of reckoning after the disappearance of Armantium. Naturalists say the fish migration patterns have indeed been disrupted by Armantium's exodus, but this does not point to a plague or curse. [ooc: Contact Alice for more information on this arc.]
