Duel:Kiri v Valaran

From HollowWiki

Kiri's First actual Duel in almost 4 years

Held At The Larket Arena

Valaran stares across the barren battlefield at his opponent, obsidian robes swaying softly with the wind. A single digit rises towards his face, pressing the runic glasses found there up the bridge of his nose. The magus reaches outward with both hands, allowing the wind around him to caress his body, his very being, as he calls upon the arcane forces around him. Slowly but surely, the wind begins to pick up, kicking up the loose dust particles upon the ground around Kiri, hindering his sight. Arms stretched out in front of him now, the mage begins muttering words of the arcane. As they fill the air, a ball of flame forms in front of his outstretched palms. Upon reaching critical mass, he releases the energies towards his oppoent, hoping that the blinding dust storm will prevent the real attack from being seen.

You not being able to see that well through the dust, is still able to make out a bright light coming from a round object in front of his face, knows that nothing good can come from this. He then uses his brute superhuman strength to power drive his shield in to the ground, before using it for cover. Holding his position, he waits for the hit. When all of a sudden a massively intense pain seared up his left arm due to the fire moving around his shield. Using his right hand he withdraws his sword off of his back as he says, " Vas Flam" causeing his sword to light itself upon fire. He then rools to the right side of the shield to jump up to his feet and begains charging at Valaran sword is hand aimd straight for his arms, as it to take off his hands.

Valaran holds both hands in front of himself as if to brace for impact. Indeed, if this were what he were planning, it would be a singularly horrible idea. At the last moment, as his opponent's sword comes down upon him, the mage steps to the left, avoiding the blade and, save for the heat, its flames. If all were to go as planned, the necromancer would fail to notice the scholar's right foot set right in the middle of his path in an attempt to send him sprawling over it to the ground. Valaran quickly doubles back, putting a bit of distance between himself and his opponent before starting a new chant. Both hands held in front of him as gauntlets, his words fill the air as a beautiful song, each word complementing the last as both hands fill with arcane power. In the left forms a sphere of flame much like his previous attack yet somewhat smaller and in the right forms an orb of crystalline water. As the spell comes to a close, he throws both palms forward, hands colliding at the wrists and causing the orbs to collide. The flames sear the water as they both blast forward, sending a blistering blast of steam in his opponent's direction.

You knowing that since he didn't use his super speed. That his attack would be easily avoidable. Jumps into the air as he says, "Vas Flam Anh Mi Sa Ko" Combining two of his more powerful spells together. Causes the unseen bodies to break free through the ground and ignite on fire. Not needing anymore command from their master, go straight for his oppenent. Using them as a distraction, He whispers, "Vas Flam" once again. Igniting both his hands this time, takes aim for his oppenent as well as both sides of his body. With speed close to that of lightning, releases a massive volley of fire balls, before landing on his feet behind his shield.

Valaran watches with pleasure as the steam in the air extinguishes the flaming corpses as well as the unanticipated torrent of fire balls. There are, however, still two corpses sans flame to deal with as well as his main enemy. The scholar reaches into the air, channeling the arcane energies around him before dropping his arms harshly towards the ground. The rock before him erupts upwards in a split as if something beneath the ground were traveling at top speed towards the two approaching corpses. Upon reaching them, the ground explodes upwards, sending rock, dust, and the two corpses flying into the air. Valaran turns now to his opponent, a look of grim concentration plastered upon his face. A sweep of his hands accompanies him as he drags a torrent of the self-same stone kicked up in his previous spell through the air towards his opponent, hoping to pummel him before he knows what's going on.

You displeased with how easily his corpses were taken out. Has one last idea to end this duel one and for all. "Rel Xen Um" is all you hear as Kiri transforms into a withering form, as if he was made of gas. Begains to spread himself thin to cover the whole areana enabling the rocks to fly right through him. Before saying "Rel Xen An Sanct" causeing the air surrounding the inside of the arena to go extremly cold. The last thing you hear is "Vas Flam" one last time before the arena quickly ignites on fire. Just as quick as the flames had come, they had left. Kiri now feeling very weak falls to the ground, and slowly transforms back to his human form. Using his sword as a brace lifts himself up to his feet, to wait for the smoke to clear to in order to find out what was going to come of his last attack.

Valaran is no fool. Magics he has studied all his life and surely this is a new and interesting spell to him. Nevertheless, only a fool would take chances during battle. As soon as he sees his opponent begin to dissipate, he drops into a defensive position and, mumbling words of the arcane, maintains a defensive shield. Protected from the cold and, eventually, the heat, he remains unharmed… though the heat soon eats away at the aura and breaks through, searing patches of his skin and burning bits of his clothes. The mage stands, though warily, and drops his arms to his side as his opponent reforms. Apparently, this fight is over.
