About the Weapon
A standard and very simple polearm, the spear is one of the most common battlefield weapons. Relatively long, spears are often constructed with a wooden haft that leads to a razor sharp, pointed tip made of metal. Ideal for conscripts and other relatively untrained soldiers due to their uncomplicated nature, the spear is a simple, yet deadly weapon; the reach they offer over swords is substantial and the pointed tip is excellent for puncturing many forms of armor. Though exceptionally common(and effective) on the battlefield, the spear is not favored for dueling or other forms of one-on-one combat unless the user is particularly adept, as a lesser trained warrior is unlikely to be experienced at keeping the opponent from getting inside the lengthy reach of the weapon.
