RP: Pyde Teaches A Lesson

From HollowWiki

This is a Necromancer's Guild RP.

Synopsis Pyde shows and teaches Joan about the use of his dark art skills.

The House Of Frozen Souls

Pyde can be found whistling while working hard at something. The Butcher can be seen scraping away at hides off in the corner, The Candlestick maker is also attending to a few hides as well, tanning them and getting them stretched out on frames to dry and harden. The fermin checks in on his puppets and then gets back to his project. A large, well large to him, black leather bag with a fine thread embroidered the seams to secure them and, in the forms, magical runes and sigils adorn the surface. Pyde takes out a box he set aside, then uses his calcimancy to send the bone meal from the box to the bag, not leaving a spec behind. Once done the Mini-Mancer shrinks the box, stows it away then shrinks down the bag as well for easier transport. Pyde looks up when he senses someone coming but not knowing who.

Joan makes her way down the long fancy corridor, poking her head in now and then as she searches for Pyde. Those she sees and take time to notice the vampiric healer get a small wave of her icy pale fingers in return notice and greeting. As she poked her head into the very next room she would notice and spot Pyde and his puppets. "Oh, hey there Pyde, I was looking for you to check in and see what how you have been doing." Joan said as she entered the room fully now, the slim-built vampire walked up towards the mini-mancer and gave him a fully shown fanged smile as she looked over what he had been doing curiously. "What do you got going on here? I'm very interested."

Pyde lets out a dramatically exasperated sigh. "Do you know how hard it is to get materials from a nightmare? And I don't mean the bad dreams folks have." He smiles and sets out the bag then makes it big enough for Joan. "In here you will find the bonemeal of a dragon-like you were asking for. But unless you're going to cook it and eat, we might want to get you a lesson in Calci-mancy." Pyde gestures to a couple of tables, one with a corpse and the other with a skeleton. "Are you ready to learn a Fermin shamanic art?"

Joan spoke to her friend, "Oh no, I don't I haven't tried to tangle with Nightmares as of yet, to be honest." She answered. She then blinks a few times as she looks from the offered pouch and back to her fellow guildmate, she offers a slow full-fanged smile once more as she nods her acceptance. "Oh wow, very neat, and thank you so very much. I'd love to learn your Fermin shamanic art." She would offer a hug to Pyde before moving to pick up the pouch he had put together and made for her.

Pyde said, "Alright, you see those testing materials behind me on the tables. Let's start with the corpse. Can you tell me how you are able to control the corpse when using your own necromantic arts? I know it is different for each practitioner, so I am trying to get an idea of how you control the dead and I can help you bridge that learning." Pyde scatters a few bones from his own supplies and reaches out with his own magic to dance individually.

Joan lightly tapped her open right gloved palm against her small, vested bosom as she said to the mini-mancer, "It is just an instant connection, I'm undead and whatever magic that makes me move about, walk, and talk and everything is just there here in my core. I reach magically inwards and down towards that core and draw out my necromancy magic." That was the best she could explain because even she didn't rightly know, nor did she ever bother to ask an older vampire to try to explain to her how they worked magically. Sometimes things just remain a mystery for a good reason.

Pyde nods in understanding, "Alright, I think I understand. Ok, so for me when I control a corpse. I am basically putting a lot more magic into the being. After studying anatomy for all kinds of races and creatures, I have a detailed understanding of how the body works. So, I send more magic into it to make it move. But, with just the skeleton it takes less magic to move around, and it's lighter compared to the living or fleshed specimen. And with enough control and precise usage of your magic, you can also control a horde of skeletons easier." Pyde makes his magic visible to the eye and demonstrates how he can control the different subjects as he described. A bigger line of magic was leading to the corpse while a thinner one was leading to the skeleton, both started moving afterward. And if you looked closely at the skeleton, you could see smaller threads attached to the joints.

Joan nods as she slowly rubs her icy pale fingers along her chin. She watched and studied what Pyde was explaining taking to memory all she witnessed what her fellow guildmate was able to do. "Okay yeah that is great, so it follows along the lines of what I do, but I never had to explain it out loud to anyone else."

Pyde now claps his hands together, "Now here comes the fun part." Pyde's magic encases the bone of one of the femurs on the skeleton, rather than controlling the bone itself. Pyde breaks the bone into smaller parts shards suspended in his magic. "The precise control I mentioned earlier can be focused down, from controlling a single bone to controlling the shards of a bone. This can be many ways of applying this in combat. Foes have been felled from poisoned or diseased bone fragments if you send them flying. It's kind of like when an arcane mage uses earth magic. Visualization and having the extra mana pool to make it helps."

Joan offers a quick appreciated clap to what the mini-mancer has just shown the vampiric healer. "That is very helpful to know, it doesn't look too hard. I should be able to grasp this pretty easy." The undead woman moves towards the skeleton on the other table, she bends at the waist to look over it before turning towards the other table and staring at the corpse also giving it a studious stare. Joan stands up fully between the two tables after she finishes her examination, "Neat-o there Pyde, you fermin shamans know some snazzy stuff." She praised her friend.

Pyde laughs, "Well that is where the shamanic teachings end. The next bit is something I came up with." Pyde breaks the femur into even smaller pieces down to the well-known powdery substance folks know as Bonemeal. "This is the furthest I have been able to get my calci-mancy down to. And the basic way I use my magic to reinforce all of my other skeletons. An added bonus from knowing how to break bones down is getting a sense for how they can be put back together seamlessly." Pyde slowly reforms the shards from bonemeal, and back into a whole femur. He goes to pick it up and shows it is one solid piece. "So, what do you think?"

Joan eagerly rubs her gloved palms together as she eyes the once more whole femur on the skeleton. "I should give it a try once you release your magic on the skeleton." The vampiric healer said to the fermin calci-mancer. She points towards the corpse he also had his magic animated. "What about the corpse here?! Can you crumble up all the bones inside the body to make it pretty much just a flesh sack?" She cast a curious stare down at Pyde to see what he might do next.

Pyde snaps his fingers recalling the power he used to control the corpse and skeleton, "You know, that thought never crossed my mind, so I never thought to use that technique on an undead, but it could have some funny results. Would you like to give what I taught you a try? Also, for giving me a chance to show you the basics of my arts, here." Pyde scampers over and hands Joan the bag of dragon bonemeal. "I hope this comes in handy for you to keep you safe and such."

Joan takes the offer bag of dragon bonemeal with a grateful attitude. Tying the pouch off of her belt on the other side of her waist, the other held her portable medical field kit. She didn't want to try to get either pouch mixed up if and whenever she ended up in an emergency. "Not just the undead but perhaps on the living also, hm?" Joan asked as she looked back to her firm lightly patting her new ultra snazzy pouch. "Sure, I'm game to give it a try, and thank you for the gift, I will use it as responsibly as I can."

When done Joan would keep her place between the corpse and skeleton with a look of concentration the vampiric healer would focus on the whole skeleton. Her hand is held out above it as she slowly pours her dark gift into all the bones of the full skeleton. With a deep inhale of breath, she narrows down her focus to the other femur that Pyde didn't already use as the example. Spreading her half-gloved fingers out slowly the femur she had focused on began to break done into the pieces of bone shards, next, she poured a small bit more into the shards to break them down into bone slivers. Exhaling her held breath the undead woman then crumples up her fingers into her palm now turning the bone slivers into a fine powder dust. Casting a questioning glance back to Pyde she holds there for him to exam.

Pyde scurries up to the table to look over the work Joan did. "Not bad for a first try. Not many folks focus their magic as I can, so it is great to see someone else with the ability to break bones down like that." Pyde said, "Dragon bonemeal is different than normal bone types. It still has that lingering magic from when it was alive and is literally a different beast. Any who, I need to be off, I hope we can meet up again later. Maybe with an old friend if we are lucky."
