Adventurer's Guild

Meri wasn’t in the best of moods after yesterday's duel, another death in the tournament was not exactly something that she was expecting to see. Let alone for someone that she counted as a friend. She might not have been as close to the bard as other’s, but it was hard to not find her charming and adorable. Meri’s response to this was not to sit around and let the depression get the better of her. She buried herself in the next project. It might not be easy to find Meri given the number of items filled the building, but amongst all the boats and the tents was a table where Meri was seated. On that table she had a blue elerium stone as well as some battered pieces of armor, all of which were found in the belly of the leviathan, along with a map that focuses on Cenril, Rynvale, and the oceans in between. There is also a bottle of whiskey, an ashtray, and a cigarette tin on that table amongst the finds from the hunt. Assuming that Magik was somewhere in the vicinity, Meri was murmuring to him, “Given what Loravelle said about the stone and what Alvina said about the armor, there is a good chance that what we found inside the leviathan are remains from Armantium. You know, that floating avian city that crashed into the ocean? But. How do we even begin to find a sunken city?” If Magik was not yet in the room then Meri was just talking to herself. It’s fine. People do it.

Magik wouldn't dare let Meri be alone after the tragedy they witnessed less than 24 hours ago. He was listening to Meri closely while also poking around the Guild. It was a huge and funny coincidence that she mentioned the sunken city while he was checking out some of the small boats they have access to. "Aye. I heard about that while I was in Sylo Alari for those few years. I don't think locating it would be too hard but getting to it.." The ridiculously tall elf turns to his future wife, "I mean, I could always, ya know, boil the waters until there is nothing left. But then there would be ecological damage to literally everything on the continent." Magik starts talking with his hands as he starts explaining. "It would obviously take a lot of my own energy to raise the waters to boil, then, of course, sea life would be the first to go. And we can't have that because then there's no more sushi.. The moisture would get into the air, cause devastating rains, which would in turn bring floods, loss of animal life, and…" He stops and shakes his head, "So that idea is already off of the table.."

Nortengaal enters the building quietly, and with a sense of purpose absent from his usual wanderings. It takes him a few moments to locate anyone, so packed with the various tools of the adventuring trade the location is. He walks aimlessly at first, turning sideways in spots to make it easier to get through the isles as he moves through them. After a short time the bearman starts to hear the murmur of other people talking, and he begins making his way towards them, calling out to announce his presence to whomever is nearby. “Hello! Excuse me, but is there someone here who can help me?”

Meri might be a bit sullen in spirits, but there was a half-smirk as she watches Magik. It forms specifically when he begins to talk with his hands but that look fades into one of surprise when he talks of literally boiling an entire ocean. The blonde was well aware that he was quite in pyromancy but some magical feats just were slightly mind boggling to her. “Khitti might have a few thoughts, we’ll have to meet with her soon.” Meri would of course not be making this suggestion without very good reason, but she does not expand on the why of her thinking. This is because she becomes aware that the two are no longer alone in the headquarters. Nortengaal’s scent catches her attention before she even lays eyes on him and Meri pulls Magik’s attention to the presence of this stranger by making eye-contact with the elf and then nodding in Nortengaal’s general direction. The stranger does not seem to have the want of secrecy for he makes a point to approach the couple. A brow is lifted in light of his inquiry and Meri responds with a cheeky, “That depends. Who are you and what are you hoping that we might be able to help you with?”

Magik nods in agreement at the suggestion of speaking to Khitti. "It has been a bit since we've had a chat. Sounds like a pl.." The elf is immediately silenced by both Meri's look and Nort making himself known. Given the types of situations the Lyastri has found himself in lately, he calmly makes his way to Meri's side. He smoothly rests right hand behind his back on the hilt of a small blade while his left rests on Meri's shoulder. Nortengaal's reply to Meri will determine Magikrios' next actions. Magik has definitely been a little on edge lately. No offense. Unless..

Nortengaal action : cracks a smile to himself, pleased to have found someone so quickly. “My name is Nortengaal Kagu-Tsuchi, though most folks call me Nort or something else entirely. I’m here looking for adventure; i was hoping i’d find some at the Adventures Guild.” Nort makes his way around a stack of tents, bringing himself into view of the folks he’s currently addressing. While it would be easy to mistake malice from the way he spoke, his demeanor is relaxed and open, as non-threatening as he can make himself. Being large as he is tends to put people on edge a little bit too, so he’s familiar with what body positions he can enact to minimize that feeling.

Meri did not reach for any blade, there would be no point given her seated position. That does not mean that the psion is not equally on guard. Between Meri’s telekinetic abilities and Magik’s own talents, the two were more then capable of defending themselves and causing a great amount of damage to their headquarters in the process. At Nortengaal’s answer, Meri relaxes just a bit and places her hand on top of the one that Magik has resting on his shoulder to suggest that it is probably fine. Probably. Both Magik and Meri knew well that people lied all the time. “Well you definitely found someone. My name is Meri, I am the guild leader. The guy behind me is both my fiance and deputy guild leader.” She’ll leave Magik to speak his own name. “If you are looking to join, we are likely happy to have you amongst our ranks. We are usually very accepting of all sorts. But, we would ideally like to hear more about what sort of skillset you would be able to offer to the guild so that we can plan your first adventure with us.” The first few missions were meant to test the waters and ease newer members into the high stakes adrenaline that the guild usually partook in. A look is cast up to the elf standing behind her to try and gauge his own sentiments. It was obvious a lot of trust was placed in Magik’s thoughts.

Magik's expression seemed completely neutral at the moment but he was most definitely sizing up the stranger standing before them. Magik wasn't the type to throw his name out to strangers so that'll have to remain a mystery for now. Meri placing her hand on his causes the elf to blink. His gaze meets hers for a quick moment with a subtle nod. Magik's fiery eyes lock onto Nort's as he adds to Meri's statement, "It's also part of our job to keep everyone as safe as possible and to form the best team for whatever the type of adventure may be at the time. Wouldn't want to have someone who can't swim in charge of a deep sea diving expedition.." Magik quickly looks to Meri with a quick shrug since they were just talking about the sunken city and how to get to it. It seemed appropriate. He then looks back to Nortengaal, ready to start brainstorming what to do with the newcomer when it comes to adventuring, if possible.

Nortengaal is a little surprised to be meeting with the very leaders of the guild, but then again he was just as likely to meet them as anyone else in the guild really, just walking in like he did. He ponders the statements given by the leaders, and chuckles a bit. “Well, i can swim, though i admit it’s not my strongest suit. Bit of a phobia of drowning you see.” It’s not usually the first thing he offers up about himself to new people, but in this instance it seems appropriate to be upfront about this sort of thing, even if the elf’s words were just an offhand example. “As for my skillset, i’m physically pretty strong and i have good endurance. My senses are fairly sharp, and i’d like to think myself a decent fighter. Hand to hand is my preference, but i have some ranged options and some magical abilities to call upon, and i can hold my own with a sword if i really have to. I can utilize my body’s spiritual energy in various ways, mostly offensively, though some defensively as well. I have limited healing abilities, mainly just first aid level stuff.” A thick finger taps his chin as he thinks, crimson eyes aimed towards the ceiling as if searching out his thoughts among the rafters. He’s not sure what he was expecting by way of introduction, but somehow this wasnt it and he’s caught a little off guard by the need to list off his qualifications. “Oh, and i can turn into a bear, which has its benefits.”

Meri nodded in support of what Magik was saying. They did need to keep everyone safe, she knew this was a detail that was important to the elf. It was to her too, seeing missions go completely awry was nerve wracking to them both. Now that they were both aware of Nortengaal’s intentions to join the guild, further talk about the sunken city search plans did not bother Meri. Meri remains seated for the duration of the time that Nortengaal explains his abilities to both Meri and Magik. Of particular interest is the fact that Nortengaal can turn into a bear. This is something that the lycan woman can relate to. Once the werebear finishes his answer, Meri pushes up from her chair, pulling a compass out form….? Don’t worry about it. She just has them handy, okay! That compass is then offered to Nortengaal. This compass also serves as a key to the more private meeting room. “Well, with that in mind. Magik and I would like to welcome you into the guild. You currently are ranked at the introductory rank of Bronze level. As you go on adventures, you will move up the ranks. Magik and I will both work on planning out your first adventure with us, something that will give you a chance to at least showcase your abilities to us. However, we’ll be brainstorming at home. Dinner to make, kids to feed. You know how it goes. As soon as we have an idea, we’ll reach out to you. And if you have any questions for either of us? You can always leave word here, one of us will answer. I would encourage you to meet with Emilia at some point, she is not only a member of our guild but also the leader of the Healer’s Guild. It’s always good to have people skilled with the ability to mend injuries.” A look is sent to Magik, “Did I forget anything?”

Magik was obviously fascinated with the mention of Nortengaal being able to turn into a bear. The elf has a few tricks himself but wouldn't let that widely known secret out of the bag just yet. As Meri goes through her leaderly speech, Magik leaves her side and starts gathering up a few maps for some homework. As Meri asks for his input one last time, the elf stops and turns towards the werebear, "Looking forward to having you join us. We could definitely use a bit more muscle in case things go sideways. Sounds like you'll fit right in." The elf finally smirks at Nort before going about gathering the remaining maps. When Nort is finished making any last remarks, he will happily escort the newest guild member from the building then head home to the forest with Meri.

Nortengaal accepts the compass from the guild leader, placing it in one of the pouches at his waist as he nods along with what she’s saying. He doesnt have a lot to say by way of response, he just smiles widely and excitedly. “Thank you so much, i’m looking forward to adventuring with you.” He then follows the other man out of the building and goes along his way, likely to some tavern or other to celebrate his new lot in life.
