The Roleplay!

Warriors Quarters

Once surrendered to those spearheading the successful final uprising against the immortals, the militia commander's office is now apportioned to the soldiers, serving as a secondary quarters, along with those near the clinic. The furniture has been stripped of this place, leaving only double bunks standing against either wall, two rows of five in total. Affixed to one post of each bed is a sling, of sorts, apparently where weapons rest. Occasionally a second pouch exists, containing keepsakes from home, letters, rings, and so forth. Archers and other soldiers raggedly stumble into their sleeping barracks, weary from the extensive training each undertakes daily. One solitary window exists in the dimly lit room, facing the haunting Eternal Forest directly to the fortress' north. The sole exit, if you either don't sleep here or are rested well enough to train more, is to step back through the southern door, and into the open-air grounds where the archers practice.

Mythayus sat on a bunk. He was in pain and deep in thought. Something was weighing heavily on the man’s mind. His face told the story of someone trying to put a puzzle together. He wasn’t wearing his armor, instead fine nobleman’s clothes, in shades of blue and silver. He did however have his sword and shield with him and he was lacing up his boots. Clearly getting ready to go somewhere. His actions were robotic. He was simply going through the motions. A smile did not grace the man’s face, as usual, instead the corners of his lips were tilted downward. His breathing still labored from his injuries during the fight with corruption. He pushed himself to his feet with a wince, once his boots were fully laced and ready to go. He’d turn to start his way out of the building.

Valen would be standing on the other side of the door as Mythayus went to walk out of the room, and as soon as it was opened he would look to him with a raised eyebrow "You know I can tell when something is on your mind, but I need to ask you a favor before anything. Someone said that you -kidnapped- somebody? As unlikely as that may be I had to...well I had to ask." he would say, embarrassed that he was even asking something like this to begin with but at the same time curiosity waged war upon his brain. "I am sure that this is all a misunderstanding but the point is, my dear, that was a very serious accusation that they threw out there." In his mind, he did not view this conversation as a betrayal to Lycidas, but rather he viewed it as making sure he understood something correctly, before carrying out the favor that was requested...exactly the type of thing he kept his scar around to remind himself about.

Mythayus quirked a brow at the Vampire. “Kidnap? Why would I kidnap someone and risk my new position?” He shook his head. “No I haven’t kidnapped anyone. I haven’t even left the city since the earthquake and the fight with whatever that thing was.” He seemed a little upset but he knew he had a shady past thanks to his brother. “If you or he really think I kidnapped someone then bring it up with the King. But I assure you I haven’t” He took in a deep breath and exhaled it. “Is that everything or did you have more you want to speak to me about?” He tilted his head and waiting for a response. As he took the breath a pained look cross his face, but for a brief moment. He wondered why Valen would think these things. These thoughts also entered into his already packed brain. Someone was setting him up. He knew that much. “This person that told you I kidnapped someone, did they say how I did it and how they knew it was me? And lastly who they are?” He had a very serious look on his face as looked down at the Vampire.

Valen would shake his finger and then move it to his own lips. "Cant tell you that, but all I can tell you is that they described you perfectly, not by using your name, and only one Dragon I know can lightning step..." Looking around he would ask "So...You are telling me, that there is no prisoner here that you brought in?" If that was the case then things were very odd indeed. It showed on his face that he believed the Blue, and so he pulled out a letter. "I was supposed to give this to someone named Segen but I have no clue where the cells are, and now you are telling me that no one is here by that name so It seems I must take this letter back to them..." A shrug would be given as he looked to the Dragon with a suddenly pained expression. "there are -many- things I would like to speak to you about Myth but none of them are as important as the fact that you are still injured, and still working. Maybe just take two more days off? You and I both...we deserve some r and r....Maybe we could go to the beach someday?"

Mythayus quirk a brow once more. “I did bring in a prisoner. They were captured after they assaulted a caravan bringing supplies to Larket.” He tilted his head once more. “Letter? Please hand it over Larket could face another attack… That could help stop it.” He shake his head to the Vampire, “No time for rest the city needs help, and that’s what I plan on doing. Had been resting I wouldn’t have been there to save that caravan and bring in a prisoner. ”We’ve had to make due. As far as cells go but yeah.” He shrugged. “Besides don’t you have an undead boyfriend running around here?” He’d pause for a moment, “It’s hardly appropriate to ask me to go to the beach with you. How could you think about relaxing when there is so much work that needs to be done here?” His voice was slightly harsh at the end. Myth had chosen his new-old loyalty, to Larket. He wasn’t going to stand around and do nothing he wanted to help rebuild the city. “I’m sorry, Valen…” He spoke realizing his voice had gone harsh. Not because he was mad at Valen just because he was passionate about Larket and didn’t like seeing it suffer like this. He wanted to fix it and he want to fix it now. And the telling look down in guilt made itself known.

Valen would move the letter away from Mythayus and out of his reach. "I promised to deliver this to him personally. I intend on keeping my promise, just as you intend on keeping to your oath for your position." The mention of Goren though brought, for the moment, a pained look to his face. "Possibly, though Id suspect he went to Vailkrin instead...and he's not my boyfriend, he was just my date to the wedding...thank you very much." Chastising aside, he would simply let the Dragon get on him about whatever, most of it making sense but he would add "That's all fine and good but the city will -not- be rebuilt overnight." The harshness that Mythayus had used though caused him to take a step back somewhat, more hurt but would shake his head as he turns to leave. "No, I get it. You got things that need to be fixed, and you want it better right away, and that is fine Myth...But reality is going to bitch slap you when you realize it doesnt work that way, repairs take time, it takes money, it takes more than us." Valen's voice would be soft, calm, and he would even turn around and go to hug him tightly. "I'm just as passionate about this city as you are...I hate seeing it like this, and I hate seeing you like this. I just...I keep thinking if we try again, if we honestly try again...maybe it could work this time...? That's why I am so irritated. I know it wont ever be that way, I know whats done is done....but I can at the least have a hope. Give me that, let me just have that...please, if nothing else?"

Mythayus almost sneered at the Vampire, “The difference is my Oath isn’t going to jeopardize the city...your promise might. But I’ll be the bad guy here. You’ll have to find another guard, to find the prison I’m not telling you.” His face was unamused. Seeing the pained look, his features softened, “I’m sorry to hear that. I didn’t bring a date to the wedding.” Myth let out a snort, “Of course not but that doesn’t mean should stop working. If we did that then it will never be rebuilt. And I’d like to see someone, even reality come a slap me. Everything take money, work, and time. And even then some wounds never heal and some scars never fade.” He’d motion towards the scar under his left eye. Then take off the leather glove he was wearing revealing burn scars, that matched the ones on his neck, and what looked to be old arrow wound scars inside the burn scars. “I know recovery takes time.” He’d allow the Vampire to hug him and would give a slight wince as pressure would be applied. “If you hated seeing it like this wouldn’t deliver messages to criminals.” He’d let out a sigh and pat Valen on the head. “Look Valen I care about you and the only reason I came back to the city it because you asked me to. My wounds haven’t healed, maybe they will maybe they won’t, only time will tell, but for now know they we are friends, and for now that’s how it’s going to stay.”

Valen watched the almost sneer, and felt yet another nail through his heart. Valen would be only too silent now, looking down at the floor, but would have looked up in time to see the burn marks. "None of that would have happened if I hadnt convinced you to come back..." would be all that was said. He knew that Mythayus was not going to have time for a mopey Vampire so he reached into his pocket and pulled out an envelope and handed it to the dragon. "Just make sure he gets it. Originally I was asked to simply break him out but I wasn't going to do that in any case." Again, he did not view this as a betrayal to Lycidas, as the Vampire had told him to either break him out, or get the letter to him, and this seemed to be the only way to get Segen the letter. Valen though would remain silent after that and just stare at the floor. "You know if you wanted I could treat those wounds for you....the burns..." The dragon would most likely not want them healed, stubborn bastard, but he at least had done the polite thing and asked. "You say for now...what you mean is it's always going to stay like this. I know I messed up..I messed up everything....and for that I'm sorry. I cant help that I still love you, and I dont want to stop. You were the best thing that ever happened to me....and I was a jerk, and ruined your life. I've changed though, Mythayus...Maybe one day you can see that.."

Mythayus took in a breath, “Thank you, If it’s not dangerous to Larket I will give it to him. You have my word. And they wanted you to break them out?” He looked at the scars, “You didn’t cause these. The burn came from me fight an acid breathing dragon. The circular ones were from are from Misaki.” He paused as he spoken her name, pained by her memory, “These can be healed because they aren’t wounds, their scars. They can only fade with time. The one under my eye you know my father gave me that when I was fifteen.” He let out a sigh, “But yes I am still injured from the war and the fight after the wedding.” He’d shake his head in thought, “What kind of healing? Because if it’s quick and won’t take up resources then fine, if not then I’ll just suffer and go back to work.” He’d put the gloves back on his hands. “Like I said You will always have a place in my heart, and what happened wasn’t you fault it was mine. It was my brother my ex. Not yours. So drop it. What’s in the past is in the past you can’t change it.”

Valen was once more finding himself in the unfortunate position of a rock and a hard place. "N...never mind. If it's going to be read then never mind. I was given strict orders to not read it, and its not my letter, its for the guy. Let him read it first and then read it, but you need to let him read it first." The stuff about the injuries gave him pause however before shaking his head "I could do with with runes but that's going to count as resources so..." At being told to just drop it, he would and wait to see what was said about the letter.

Mythayus would let out a sigh. “ you already gave me the letter, and I will read it before him because it may be a threat to Larket. “ He’d close his eyes, “ Or are you siding with the criminal who tried to steal Supplies from Larket? He will get the letter if it’s not harmful….” He’d let himself trail off. “Now I have something I need to attend to. I sorry to cut this short. If you can come up with away to heal me then come hunt me down I’ll be here.” He’d start walking. “See ya around Valen.”

Valen honestly didnt know what to believe, only that Mythayus had never lied to him before. "Fair enough..." he would say with a sigh. "No im not siding with a criminal, and if you suggest that again then so help me I will see to it that I find my way to the kitchen." Mythayus would know that threat, and he should know Valen was serious. "I'l see what I can do about healing you but it would honestly be better if you at least stopped by the academy on your way back...? I have all my supplies there." As he watched him go, he would just look down sadly. It was like watching him leave forever...and it hurt, even though he knew he would be back. "See ya Myth.
