Part of the The Orb Of Life Arc

  • Summary:The Sage appears in Kelay Tavern and learns more of those questing for the keys of mind, body and soul. '
  • Characters: Fendarien (The Quest Giver), Ginger, Cecilnezuto, Neema
  • Location: Kelay Tavern

Fendarien limps into the tavern using his staff as a crutch. The young sage eyes each of the occupants carefully before taking a seat by the fire and sighing deeply.

Ginger rushes into the tavern with undue loudness and haste. The boom of her dispelling of the overly flamboyant parts of her wings has come to be a well-known sound throughout taverns everywheres. The larger bones line up against teh walls, while the little green pixie controls her tragectory to land in front of the sage elf, person-thing. "Um, sir, do you know theres a hole in your home?"

Fendarien coughs to clear his throat his voice sounding somewhat wheezy as if he were recently out of breath. “Indeed... creature” He nods seeming somewhat puzzled by Ginger’s appearance. “I only just escaped being swallowed by that very hole myself.”

Ginger sits down across from him. "Yeah, time-holes are tricksy. There's a big person guarding it to make sure no one falls in, so we've got that going for us. . .anyways, about this orb. . .I can't seem to find any direct answers, so, I tracked down the source. Which means you. Would you, please, if it isn't too much, and you have nothing against it, tell me seekrit knowledges to unlock the mysteries and fill in the hole with magical goodness."

Neema can't help but be just a teensy bit curious when a green pixie enters, and sort of turns into an eavesdropper. She's mostly curious about the pixie, not whatever she and the male she spoke to were chatting about.

Fendarien moves his hand to his chin and attempts to stroke a beard that does not appear to be there. “I shall try and aid you in any way I can but I only remember parts of what I saw and parts of what I knew before the calamity. If you ask I shall tell you what I know.”

Ginger scratches her back, momentarily at a loss at the prospect of actually getting an answer. "So, three keys. . .one was with a broken turkey, but someone found it, the others you can't 'member, right? So. . .the orb that heals. . .what was it used for before anything needed healing? or was that the only purpose?"

Fendarien listens intently to Ginger’s words nodding and then folds his arms. “The Orb was a gift from the tree and we were but its children. That is what we were taught. Inside the Orb is something very powerful and it draws its powers from that. The Orb was originally used to sanctify lands so that sacred woods and holy trees could grow. The sanctified land could purge harmful influences and the orb has similar powers in addition to healing. I think that answers your questions.” The Sage nods somewhat solemnly. Neema is still eavesdropping, and doing it pretty blatantly. Now not only is she curious about Ginger, since she's never seen a pixie before, but now all this talk about an orb and healing and trees has got her interest piqued as well. So, there she sits, gnawing away at her fingernails, and listens.

Ginger holds up a single finger, forestalling any naps that might occur in the meanwhiles. "One more question, and it's a more practical one, rather than the ones that are complete quantum theory to me. . . If I get too close to this orb will I be 'purified and sanctified' as well. . .cuz' it wasn't so pleasant the first few times it happened to me."

Fendarien blinks again taking in Ginger’s question before taking a deep breath, “No I think it would only purify any being that would seek its destruction. I believe it to be possessed a kind of sentience... or at least a sense for self preservation.” Ginger said, "Fair Nuff'. Keep in touch, and I hope I can help. . .even if I have to be purified and sanctified again. . ."

Fendarien nods again to Ginger “I shall but I must ask for your name my good woman in case your deeds should reach my ears and I know not that it is you.”

Ginger picks up her wings and moves off to an unobtrusive area.

Cecilnezuto would step into the tavern, his cloak wrapped around him as he walked to the board to see if any new information had surfaced on these 'keys' he'd overheard about. Seeing there was some information on the matter, he would go to the bar and speak very lowly with Mesthak, ordering some wine as they spoke.

Fendarien sighs and slumps back into his chair before holding his hands up to the fire in a search for warmth. The Sage mumbles to himself as he shifts uncomfortably. “I do hope the first key bearer shall make themselves known to me soon.”

Cecilnezuto nodding as he and Mesthak finished their talk, he'd take a seat near the fire, looking into it's depths and sipping his wine. His thoughts were on a great many things, such as that fragment in his pouch, the "presence" he seeked, this time rip that orc near Rynvale spoke of and a great deal more. He then let his thoughts trail back to the woman he was hoping to meet again, maybe she was about this day?

Fendarien rises with a grunt and makes his way over to Cecilnezuto before speaking “Excuse me my good man, did I hear you speaking to the barkeep about the keys of mind, body and soul?”

Cormac catches sight of Cecil in his peripheral vision, turning slightly to regard him. "How soon, Knight? I have agreed to meet another in battle quite soon...the lawmen of this land will learn not to meddle in my affairs."

Cecilnezuto would snap out of his thoughts as he was spoken to, looking at whom asked him the question, "Aye, good sir. I had overheard here, in the tavern, of the keys to aid in restoring the Grove. I saw the devestation there the other day and found a fragment and information of a 'time rip'. I seek to aid in the restoration of the Grove and Mesthak is known for catching information in his establishment." He'd respond kindly.

Fendarien bows his head before speaking to Cecil, “My name is Fendarien the last sage of the Hallowed Grove. I also seek its restoration, but I need help in finding the keys. With the keys I can unlock the Orb of Life and with its power undo the damage that has been done. I understand one key has been found already.”

Cecilnezuto turned back to the sage, an eyebrow raised, "I am Cecil, a Knight of the Balance and I just saw that the first key has been found. I believe it may have been another that was present at the site, but I never got a name from said person. And the Orb of Life? I don't believe I've heard of something such as that, good sir. I only heard of someone seeking aid to find the keys and sought to assist."

Fendarien runs a hand through his bedraggled hair, “The Orb is a relic long sought by the Concordat however since the calamity at the grove it has taken on a new urgency. The rip in time granted me knowledge of the orb we did not have before so I have requested aid in tracking down the keys in the hope of unsealing the orb.”

Cecilnezuto said to you, "I see...I did find a fragment at the site, it is rather unique and I had thought it a Chaos Shard at first. As for the Orb, if I may be of any assistance in the retrieval of the keys, I shall do what I can. I understand the urgency of such matters, given the fact that time, itself, as somehow been torn."

Fendarien looks puzzled by the mention of the fragment, “Perhaps in time I will be able to work out what the fragments are... I still need to use the orb of prophecy to try and make more sense of what I have seen. Perhaps then I can find a clue to the whereabouts of the other two keys.”

Cecilnezuto nods in understanding before speaking, "Perhaps....Fendarien, have ye considered using yer orb of prophecy in conjunction with the fragments? 'Tis merely a theory, but perhaps they will unlock the whereabouts of the other keys?"

Fendarien shrugs his shoulders at the suggestion. “This is the first time I have heard of these fragments. I think I shall try and find out more about them in case they are dangerous to the orb of prophecy. I believe I shall set out once more and study my visions to try and gain further insight.”

Cecilnezuto nods, "Aye, that is a good point. I had not thought of the possible dangers. Know this, my friend, the Grove -will- be restored one day and that relic shall be found, so do not overexert yerself, for I believe yer going to need yer strength. Ye have those of us that seek to aid however we can and I shall await word of the locations of the remaining keys." As he spoke, he'd offer a warm smile to the sage

Fendarien smiles at Cecil a glint of hope entering those eyes that look much older than the body they belong to. “I am glad there are good and determined people like you searching for them. Hopefully the grove shall be restored again and soon. I shall bid you farewell for now while I go and see to my works.”
