RP:The Neutral Zone: A Healer's Guild Meeting

From HollowWiki

This is a Healer's Guild RP.

Synopsis: A healer's meeting is called on the affairs between Cenril and Larket. The healer's agree that they are to take a humanitarian aid approach and remain neutral, offering neutral zones for the innocents for healing aid. With resources scarce, the healers brainstorm ways they can supply aid at these trying times.

Healer's Council Chamber

Penelope (1 of 2):: Guild mentors shuffled in and out of the newly furnished council room. The whole building, in fact, was finally finished in its remodel with fresh stained-glass windows and new polished furniture. Some mentors were pointing at newspapers about the war between Larket and Cenril–pointing out the catastrophe that had been taking place throughout Lithrydel. Word breezed around that Mayor Valrae, however, was at least found and safe, yet that did not stop everyone sitting on the edge of their seat. Penelope sat in a chair at the large round table with an open file in front of her while other people scurried about the room to set up for the continent’s healers to come. The Healer’s Guild receptionist was balancing on her tippy toes trying to place blackberry tarts and triangle-cut cucumber sandwiches delicately on a small, elegant three-tiered platter. There, however, was nothing elegant about today's meeting. A freshly hot coffee pot rested in the middle of the table as well as a teapot with different herbs to choose from for a tea of choice: earl grey, chamomile, mint, spiced black tea, green tea, and more. Off to the side of those two main steaming pots was a cream pitcher and cubes of sugar as well as orange slices. Tea cups rest in front of every chair for a healer to indulge, if they chose to.

Penelope (2 of 2):: Once members would enter, Penelope would automatically stand up in those brown leather pants, and she would begin smoothing out the brown, floral-printed corset that was already tightly placed on her small frame. No wrinkles. Just a nervous habit. She adjusts her poofy cream sleeves that are underneath said-corset. The healer would wave to each member, giving them a faint smile and a nod as they came around the table and a small “welcome”. The receptionist would point out any goodies on the table as members of the guild arrived to keep a pleasant atmosphere, but most members would know that Lithrydel today was anything but pleasant.

Joan came into the council chamber and give a glance around after saying 'hello' to Penelope and Emilia. She had yet to meet Kailani but gave nod in greeting to the half elf before making her choice of the offered teas and snacks. Once this was taken care of she would coose a seat close by and take a seat, waiting fo rthis to begin as she leaned in close to dog into the sugar bowl to sweeten her tea.

Kailani :: The seasons were getting cooler and so when Kai entered, she wears a thick fur cloak that looks like it is far to large for her. It is, she borrowed it from Orion for the flight here. If you thought it was cold on ground level, well it is far more frigid while soaring through the air on the back of a griffin. Speaking of that griffin Grimclaw does not follow Kailani into the building. He is content to rest just outside while he waits for the druid to finish whatever business brought her into this area. Once Kailani enters the Chambers, the blue-haired woman sheds herself of her cloak and drapes it across an empty seat that she claims for herself. It will make a lovely little cushion/blanket during the meeting. Before she sits down and makes herself fully comfortable, a soft smile is cast toward Penelope and a nod is given first to Emilia and then to Joan.

Emilia entered following behind a small piglet wear a tophat and little black bowtie around his neck. The little fellow making little nose crinkles and oinks at the fellow members of the guild in passing. Sitting atop the back of the gentle-pig is Righty. Unlike the dressed up piglet Emi was in a pair of worn faded leather pants covered in a mix of dirt and grass stains from farming and a blue plaid button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. Wild white curls sport bits of leaves and twigs randomly stuck in them, but the woman seems not to notice them. Waves and smiles shared as the little woman gathers some of the treats before taking her own seat at the table. Oscar grunts a snort at not being picked up and curls up at the Genesis feet.

Penelope waits for most members to take a seat or at least look like they're engaged before speaking. What really catches her eye is the piglet in a top hat. Eyes light up. Well, that sure is the sunshine of today, although she was seeing friends of hers and close colleagues. “Hi everyone. Thank you for coming to today’s meeting. Joan, Kai, Emi, and–” she looks at the pig. In her words, there is warmth. A soft gentleness. Of course there are a couple other mentors sitting at the table besides herself and Emilia. Finn Fennigan was here, and a couple of different healers from different clinical regions. It was not a packed room, however. Calm, surprisingly. Slowly, she lowers herself down into her seat and shuffles some papers in front of her. Her green eyes then lift to look around the table. “I’m not going to completely ease into everything as I would usually, as time is of the essence. I wanted to take this day to discuss the current events happening throughout Lithrydel. As you know, tensions are high with the war right now, and this is a time where we need to take crucial measures for our land.” She starts off steadily. A sharp inhale proceeds as she gets to her next thought before she exhales out her words. “I know we all have our opinions of where we stand on such events, and frankly, I am not concerned about political views.” Her tone was direct, but her eyes reflected down. She had her own political opinions as a druid that had been practicing magic of a witch, it was clear in her head that she was sided with Cenril, especially as a resident of Kelay. Though she would not let it be known at the table today. There was a point to all of this. “The importance is to remember that our guild is to provide humanitarian aid. We are a guild that focuses on welfare. Humanity. Now, I know that some people might say that with what is going on, there is no humanity for certain ‘sides’.” She shakes her head, “However, that is for you to -quietly- judge. Our job is to remain neutral and create neutral safe zones for those in medical need.” The druid takes a pause, as she is waiting for any backlash on her speech that she would, of course, finish. This was not easy for her, as she had a side, but as one of the mentors of the guild, she would not preach her thoughts on members here. Penelope Halifax was here to take a neutral stance on the situation. Patient priority first.

Joan offered a heavy sigh before taking a long sip of her sugared tea, she has already been doing her part for this little war, going between Larket and Cenril collecting the dead then hauling to corpses back to the guild here so those bpdies can be cleaned and sticthed back together best one can and laid out in the little morgue area for any loved ones to come see and possibly collect. Those bodies that were not collected have wither been donated to the guild here for futher future study or given to the Necromancers guild for the same perpose. After awhile and all possible studies have been concluded on the bodies Joan herself personally saw to the bodies burial or cremation now ever the spirit wanted it done as Joan had made sure to seek out the spirits if they happen to still be alound and lingering. "Well, I'm going to be blunt, the dead don't take sides not after the bodies physical death. I have already been hard at work at collecting the dead for each side. I've been busy and only have to say I will be glad when this 'war business' will be done." Another long sip of her tea is taken then she takes up of the cute little sandwiches and nibbles away as she looks from face to face.

Kailani :: Neutrality and trying to make sure the balance remains respected can be a tough medicine to swallow, a struggle that Kailani often shared in her own efforts and lifestyles as a druid. Which is why the normally quiet druid takes a moment to speak out and show her support for the concept, “To say that one side does not deserve humanity is a demonstration of a lack of humanity in itself, which it not why we offer our services. Regardless of political stances, there are always innocent lives lost during war. It might be easy to say that if someone did not want to participate in the war, they could live and find residences elsewhere but not everyone has the means or the resources to just start anew on a whim. So yes, citizens and soldiers of both sides are deserving of our help.” There is a pause, “I am in Venturil, far away from either side of the war…but I would not hate the notion of stepping foot into Larket to see if I could help.”

Emilia pipped in to answer the name of the piglet for Penelope, "Oscar." Then she went silent to listen to the topic of today's meeting. Em felt bad while listening to the state of the land past the borders of Venturil. The healer and her family had become reclusive for the past year or so since the birth of the twins. Horrifying news to walk into with little knowledge of the world beyond the farm. A mental note taken that it is high time for the frosty healer to return to the world beyond the gates of her home. Healers were needed. Oscar having earned the attention of Penelope would move to sit next to the woman while she spoke. At moments in her speech giving an audible loud snort of agreeance with her, especially she mentioned that the guild held no side when it came to the medical attention to those individuals needing it. If anything, she fully had the support from on little tophat wearing piglet. Agreeance snorts and oinks where given after each Joan and Kail spoke as well. Then it was Em's turn to speak a few words, "Being a healer for the land doesn't come with having sides. We pledged our aide to the cause of mending those in need. Outside this guild we can be free to have our own personal agenda on the matter, but in here the only side there is, is that of healing. I agree with those speaking here. The twins are older now and I am going to find a place to stay here in Kelay be to closer to where I am needed as a healer."

Thamalys stormed into the meeting room in a state of utter untidiness. “My sincerest apologies, everyone…” he yelled like a maniac, desperately trying to silence the red kite screeching on his shoulder. Everything about the Avian suggested he was back from a rather interesting journey – the details of which had to wait. He tried to collect himself, whilst nodding and gesturing at the same time at each an every one of the fellow healers, before finding a stool, dragging it toward the edge of the room, and finally perching onto it like a massive bird of prey. His laboured breathing was the only sound that escaped his lips for a good while.

Penelope (1 of 2):: Penelope stands slightly to reach over to grab the mini pitcher of cream for her tea. The silence is slightly deafening as she waits for someone to speak, if they want. She pours the cream in before she reaches for her spoon to slowly mix the drink. That clinging ring filling the atmosphere before Joan speaks out first. A grim line reaches her lips as the morgue technician speaks of bodies. “May they rest in peace.” Her cheeks suck in before she squints and looks at Kailani. Her heart swells that they are on the same side of it all. The druids often had the same values, and Kailani took the words out of the Ardelian’s mouth. Emilia, also, does as well, and she is very thankful that these healers have that understanding of the innocent. Of taking the oath and, as Emilia stated, pledge of mending those in need. At this moment is when Thamalys storms into the meeting hall. “Thamalys,” she nods as some heads turn. “I am so glad you made it. We are talking of the war between Larket and Cenril. You’re just in time.” She looks at him carefully before turning her attention back to the rest of the group. “I’m glad that we have the same understanding. It is true that the innocent do not have the choice in the matter in their cities that are in danger. The most important thing is to recognize that people need our help.”

Penelope (2 of 2):: Penelope continues, “With that being said, we are going to create safe zones within the borders. We all have some experience in the triage realm, as we’ve been through our fair share of battles and watched duels. I know that between Cenril and Larket is Kelay. Magikiros and his wife, Meri, are dear friends of mine. My goal is to write to Magik to see if he would be on board for some neutral zones for medical needs. It would be great to have hands on deck.” She pauses. “Also, medical supplies are scarce. I feel like Cenril has taken a lot of damage over the years. I think it would be important to reach out to healers of different regions for supply, and perhaps we create a charity event. Any suggestions?”

Joan looks up one brow quirked upwards, "I can pull some extra supplies from Rynvale, I have been going out there as of late to help out our three novice healers from there. Other then that I can also pull some supplies from Vailkrin, we really don't have much need for bandages and such other there," She offer the late tall avian Thamalys a welcoming nod.

Kailani casts a glance over her shoulder when she hears another enter the room. Thamalys is greeted with a polite nod, just as everyone else did. Kai does not let his arrival divert her attention from the meeting for long. Another nod, this one in acknowledgement of what Penelope was explaining next instead of a greeting, “If you prefer, I can focus my efforts on trying to gather supplies rather than being on the ground in Larket. Both are very important tasks but even with Grimclaw, I can only travel so much ground in a single day. I feel it would be best to devote my efforts to either one or the other, but I leave it to you to determine where you feel any help I do attempt to offer will be most useful.”

Emilia would for the briefest of moments in this tense situation flash a bright smile at her brother as he entered the meeting, late. Using the guise of stuffing a tart in her mouth the healer covered up her near laugh at his odd sitting behavior and returned her attention back to Penelope. When a pause came to share in on suggestions the Genasi spoke, "I have stock of animal supplies at the farm that I can have brought here. Sizes might need adjusting since people are not normally the size of cows and horses. Most items I have can be used for both animals and people. It won't solve the whole short supply, but it can help us bide time in getting more from other healers. I can also make a trip to my greenhouse in Frostmaw for any herbs we may need from there."

Penelope takes a sip of her tea. She listens to the insight and help the healers can provide for the cause. “Rynvale, Frostmaw, and Venturil sound like great locations to pull from. I know Frostmaw might still be recovering from their latest fall, but hopefully their herbs or stock are recovered.” She glances at Kailani. “I know you make the trek with Grimclaw, as Venturil is not an easy travel. I will leave it up to you. More hands for patients the better, I always say. I only have so many healers in Kelay I can round up, plus those are in these walls of the guild and we are talking soldiers on both sides and citizens in Larket and Cenril. So that goes for both of you Kailani and Thamalys. It sounds like Emilia will also help out on those frontlines.” She laced her fingers together. “As for a charity event, there are several things we can ponder to raise profit for supplies. The holiday season is coming up, we can always host a charity gala, or to promote some positivity, I thought about maybe a music or talent festival that the public can attend, while of course we can set up some booths, too. Either way, that would require some help from the Bard’s Guild, though of course I would have to reach out to whoever runs that guild. Just some ideas to think about. If you all have any ideas on how to raise profit, please let me know. I’m open to any. I’m not solidified in a charity fundraiser.” The girl finishes her tea before looking around the table. “I know that you all might have places to be. I will stick around for a bit if anyone would like to share ideas, but for now, I just need us to be all on the same page,” she concludes. “Please feel free to enjoy the refreshments. Also, I forgot to mention our reconstruction of our guild halls! Please feel free to peruse the building at your leisure. We have some neat new studies.” And with that, she would let the rest of the guild members chit chat.

Joan sits back in her chosen chair, finishing off her cuppa tea and her sandwich in polite silence. Since things now seemed settle the vampiric healer would finish before seeking to speak to Penelope about the vault shielding she and Zahrani were about to complete out in Chartsend.

Kailani is not good at social events, so when Penelope starts talking about charity events…using words like gala and talent festival. The druid goes slightly wide-eyed at the thought of this planning and is quick to find an excuse to leave further planning. Surely Penelope understands exactly the why behind that, “Let me speak with Orion and see what his thoughts are. I can also ask him if his musically talented bard friends perhaps would be interested…” Of course, Kanna herself is a member and Penelope could beat Kailani to it. The druid’s answer comes in haste as she is looking to quickly excuse herself. “If you will excuse me, I will be in touch soon.”

Emilia nods to Penelope as she picks up Oscar so that Nebb won't eat him without a fight. "I will retrieve what I can from the farm and touch base on where I can set up as a neutral point when I return." With that the frozen healer turns to start her leave. All the whole pondering charity ideas to share at another time with Penelope after she thinks of some.

Thamalys frowned a tad bit in realising that a charity event was a very concrete possibility – he didn’t like those, as they usually involved silly outfits, lots of noise, a lots of… well, people, and all that. Some of that sentiment must have been shared by the Druid, given how hastily Kai made herself scarce. The Avian would attempt to nod as she leaves, before having to focus, however briefly, on the creature presently tiptoeing on his right shoulder. “Easy, Nebb…” he then growled in an undertone, as the Kite was growing more and more nervous by the minute. The Blue helped himself to some hot beverage that looked like tea but tasted like some intricate concoction of mint and… liquorice? Hard for him to say. “Understood, Penelope. With your permission, I will start by surveying the state of Larket…” an obviously biased choice, but not a silly one, nevertheless.

Joan said to you, "Me and Zahrani will be completing the new shielding to the vault out there, I had a thought to bring in either Daisy or possibly Clovelia as I can't really add magically to the shielding as I might be seen at evil to the magical energies."

Penelope has a hard time trying to hide her smile at Kailani’s sudden departure as she knows the druid struggles in those very loud, populated environments. Penelope, on the other hand, was a sucker for those shenanigans. Dressing up was always fun for her. She looks at Emilia, “Thanks Emilia, I appreciate it.” She smiles before waving to the ice genasi. She then looks at Thamalys. “I will let you go within the borders, as you see. Just, be careful, and remember innocent lives come first. I’ll be set up in Kelay, if you should bring any injured our direction.” The healer then turns to Joan as the purple-haired woman addresses her. Chartsend. Right. “You might want to talk to those local healers first to get a gauge on what happened. You’ll definitely need more than one set of hands.” The druid shudders. “Word has it, long ago, some sort of dark, powerful entity was attacking the innocent, and they needed a place to seal that dark being in. It will not be good if it breaks free. Let me know if you want me to tag along with Zahrani and your friends. The local healers should be able to give you a map, or lead you there. Having Zahrani there is a great benefit, she should be able to help with light.”

Joan gives a firm nod to Penelope upon hearing her out. Joan would most definitely strongly consider bring along the guild leader next time. Seemly done she would then each give Emilia and Thamalys a firm nod and wave in a 'see you later' manner before excusing herself.

Penelope nods back to Joan in return. She then gently releases a breath before looking down and shuffling up the papers in front of her into a neat stack before picking up tea cups around the table. It was time to clean, file, and move onto her office to start writing connections within Lithrydel for support.
