Town in the Trees

Aureus:: Yelling and shouting is all that can be heard from inside the Kelay Tavern. Out comes Aureus looking quite annoyed as 3 drunken fools also leave the Tavern, carrying bats, wooden planks, and clubs. Aureus assumes his battle stance, grabbing his Astral Axe. Very much wanting to slice them up, knowing he might get in trouble if he kills idiotic drunk men. They surround him like a pack of wolves, and one of the fools decides to attack him from behind. Yelling a war cry? It sounds more of a sheep being mutilated. Anyways, that made the others attack too, yelling their weird cries. When the fool is close enough, he whips his blade around, hitting the club fool in the head with the flat end of his blade. Thunk! Instant knockout. He barely has time to register what happened before one of the fools hits him hard in the head with a wooden plank. Knowing well he probably just got a concussion, he grunts and angrily punches the fool, cracking his nose as he falls to the ground groaning as he attempts to crawl away. Apparently, the third one has considered the consequences as he charges and hits Aureus in the ankle. Crack! Roaring, Aureus plants a well-aimed kick in the chest with his good foot, flying a few feet before hitting the ground. Breathing hard, Aureus walks to some trees, limping as he rests on the tree. Yep, definitely a concussion, he thought. Assessing his ankle, he wasn’t sure if the cracking noise was a bone or one of the crystals. But as he checked, the crystals look perfectly fine as always. Aureus leans against the sturdy trunk of a tree, cradling his throbbing ankle in his hands. He can't believe how much force those drunken fools managed to muster with their feeble swings of a bat. He takes a deep breath, trying to ignore the pain coursing through his body. Determined to get back on his feet, he steadies himself and attempts to stand up, using the tree for support. As he puts weight on his injured ankle, a sharp jolt of pain shoots up his leg, causing him to wince and stumble back down. Aureus gives in to the searing pain, surrendering to the need for rest, hoping that time and stillness will be the remedy his injured ankle craves.

Joan had spent most of the morning doing rounds with Crazy Maude inside the Sacred Shrine, tending to those having wandered in for treatment, the newly minted journey maid healer felt it was about time to take a quick break to head towards the Mallard Family Bakery and Tearoom for a snack and a peaceful cuppa tea, so the vampiric healer lifts one icy pale hand and called out to Crazy Maude that she was heading out for that spot of tea and needed snack, making a promise to bring the older human woman something before she headed out along Kelay's road way, she'd dodge about a few everyday folks and the normal drunken fools as she made a few kind comments to anyone that called out to her, coming along to where she'd need to turn right to enter into the tearoom and bakery shop the vampiric healer notices the slumped over huge minotaur, with a look of concern the woman jogs over as she calls out to the fellow, also taking notice of the three fallen well known drunken fools, "Hey there, you look to be in pretty rough shape, I'm a healer, can I help you out?" She asks as she stops near the first fallen knocked-out fool, bending down to one knee she'd give the fellow a quick look over before moving towards the conscious Aureus.

Aureus looks over at the healer, his face reflecting a mix of pain and gratitude. "Yeah, don't mind the drunk fools. They attacked me first, I had to defend myself," he explains, gritting his teeth as he recalls the altercation. "But they got me pretty good; my ankles in bad shape." Pointing to his right foot, he winces as he touches the injured area. "It hurts like hell, and I'm worried something might be broken," he confesses, feeling a surge of relief that this mysterious healer appeared at such a perfect time. Aureus glances at the healer, impressed by the aura of competence surrounding them. "You're not like any ordinary healer I've encountered before," he admits, a touch of curiosity in his voice. "If you can help me out of this mess, I'd owe you one." He takes a deep breath, bracing himself for the examination, thankful that help has arrived when he needed it the most.

Joan jerked her thumb towards the bakery and teashop entrance just behind them. "Luckily I was heading there for a cuppa tea and a snack; the scared shrine is just down the road from here. There the healer's guild offer patching up and cold aides, you know the norm. Beyond that is Halifax Roots, an all-in-one stop for all your herbal/plant needs, if you head up towards Larket we have a healing hut there that supplies magical healing, you are in a pretty good place to run into a healer going about our rounds almost daily." She'd offer a slight smile not enough to flash fang but her pointed ears, coupled with her abnormal hair and glowing eyes do make it clear that Joan is not normal nor human in any sense. "Yeah, I'm Joan Blackheart, I hail from up in Vailkrin. I'm normally out at the Chapel of Rest in Cenril, I work there as a funeral attendant. I'm working towards the goal of being a funeral director and mortician. But any chance I can get to work on a living breathing being also helped towards my other goal of being an all-around healer." She offers a playful wink as she makes the motion of her coming closer before drawing in towards him so she can begin to examine Aureus's wounded ankle/hoof. She'd lightly feel about in a prodding manner about the fur and muscle asking if it hurt when she'd lightly touch upon the bone and the clearly swelling area with her icy pale fingers, her touch adding that much-needed coolness as she was undead.

Aureus:: As Joan's icy fingers touch his ankles, Aureus winces slightly, but the cooling sensation brings much-needed relief to his throbbing pain. "Yeah, it's pretty sore right there," he admits, mustering a faint smile despite the discomfort. "I'm Aureus, by the way. Sorry, we had to meet each other like this," he adds with a hint of laughter, trying to lighten the mood despite the circumstances. Intrigued by Joan's unique qualities, he resists the urge to bombard her with questions, opting to respect her boundaries. Instead, he remains focused on the healing process, putting his trust in her skilled hands and expertise as he awaits her assessment and treatment. A sense of gratitude washes over him, knowing that this chance encounter might just be the stroke of luck he needed on this difficult day.

Joan purses her icy pale lips together as she sits back on her hunches, “It’s very tender, and the reactions you are showing it’s pointing towards a pretty bad sprained ankle." She lightly brushes her icy pale fingers over the forming bruise, it is hard for a normal healer to spot in the mix of dark fur about Aureus’ hoof, but luckily for him, Joan was a vampire and not just any vampire but one of the very few vampiric healers, adding in her mystical sight she spotted the proper issue for this big fellow. Crossing her arms under her vested bust Joan offers a few choices. “Okay I can split and wrap this up and then give you a few herbs to ease the pain and a salva to rub on it, or I can heal it magically. We go the magical route I can have you up and on your feet within a few minutes. The choice is yours.” As she awaits his answer, she'd cast an assessing glance towards the clobbered-out drunken fools, they should only need a touch of magical healing to get them back on their feet.

Aureus:: With unwavering determination, Aureus declares, "I'd love to get back up as soon as possible and keep fighting, so I will definitely opt for the magical healing." His voice carries a resolute tone, reflecting his strong will to overcome the pain and continue his journey. He places his trust in Joan's abilities, knowing that this choice will hasten his recovery and enable him to press on, ever resilient in the face of adversity.

Joan sits back lightly on her feet, the undead woman takes a few moments to channel inwards down to her magical core, and with care, she pulls the chilly healing energies upwards through those icy pale fingers spread out around the rather meaty muscled hoof of the minotaur patient before her. Her dark purple aura energies seep out from those fingertips working to be absorbed into the ankle, as she worked the vampiric healer would ask a few questions of Aureus, asking where he was from, how he got here, and what he hoped to do. Just normal distracting every day getting to know you questions to hopefully set the big guy at ease.

Aureus:: "Uh, I was raised in Larket. Well, after my parents passed away, I practically raised myself," he responds, his voice tinged with a mix of vulnerability and resilience. "I came to this area to look for stronger enemies, hoping to become stronger myself and better fend for myself." Despite the pain, Aureus feels a sense of comfort in sharing his story, knowing that he can trust Joan's expertise and empathetic nature. "What about you, Joan?" Aureus inquires, his curiosity piqued as he turns his attention to the vampiric healer. He can sense there's more to Joan's story than meets the eye, and he's genuinely interested in learning about the enigmatic woman who appeared just in time to aid him.

Joan slowly put more focus into the magical healing energies she was putting out through those icy pale fingers of hers, working in a bit of her natural chill to chase and ease any lingering discomfort the big minotaur might still be feeling. "Me? Nothing I'm just plain and rather boring book nerd that just recently got up off her butt and decided to go live my best unlife." She jokes as she feels once more with her probing fingers as she felt she put enough healing into the twisted ankle, she'd offer a small, fanged smile as she looks over the mighty muscled fellow. "Nice set of horns you got there Aureus. Well slowly get up and try putting some weight on the ankle, gimme a few steps forward and let me know how it all feels, okay?" She'd ask as she moves to stand up fully, casting a glance towards the three drunken fools that were still soundly knocked out, her hands resting on her hips as she gives a shake of her head.

Aureus nods appreciatively as he feels the magical healing energies flowing from Joan's icy pale fingers, grateful for the comfort they bring to his injured ankle. "You might call yourself boring, but your healing skills are anything but," he remarks with a lighthearted smile, impressed by her abilities and her playful sense of humor. As Joan suggests testing his ankle, Aureus takes a deep breath, ready to put her healing to the test. He pushes himself up slowly, feeling the chill of the magic ease the pain and discomfort. With careful steps, he gingerly puts weight on the once-injured ankle, amazed at how much better it feels. His eyes meet Joan's fanged smile, a spark of gratitude in his own gaze. "It feels much better," he reports, a sense of relief evident in his voice. "Your healing is incredible. Thank you." Aureus takes a few more steps forward, testing the ankle's strength further. Each step becomes steadier, bolstering his confidence that he'll be back on his feet soon enough. "I owe you one," he adds, casting a glance at the unconscious drunken fools nearby. "And don't worry about them; they got what they deserved." With a newfound spring in his step, Aureus moves with more ease, feeling the healing magic's effects continue to work wonders. He casts a grateful smile at Joan, appreciating not just her healing abilities but also her presence in this unexpected encounter. "I'm in your debt," he says sincerely, knowing that her timely arrival has made all the difference in his journey.

Joan makes a dismissive hand gesture, "Nah, it's part of my duty. You see I'm with the Healer's Guild. It's part of my duty to help all those in need." She explained as her guild badge can be seen sitting on a pure silver chain around her pale throat. "You see this symbol you know you can ask anyone wearing it for help and it will be given. Now, if you are good all that I ask is that you help me take these drunken fools to the shrine just down the road here and then I discharge you of any sense of duty you might feel you owe me. yeah?" She'd offer a wink as she goes to the nearest knocked-out fellow, moving him about in her grasp as she easily lifts him up into a fireman's carry waiting to see if the big minotaur will follow suit, should he pick up the other two she will lead the way to the scared shire and deposit the guys there.

Aureus:: "You have my word," he says, accepting her request without hesitation. "I'll gladly help you take these drunken fools to the shrine." With a sense of duty and camaraderie, Aureus moves to pick up the two remaining unconscious individuals, carefully cradling them in his arms. He follows Joan's lead as they make their way to the Sacred Shrine, where he gently places the drunken fools, ensuring they are in good hands for any further assistance they might need. As they complete their task, Aureus looks at Joan with a sense of fulfillment. "Consider them in your care," he says, acknowledging that their partnership has eased his burden, but he'll never forget her timely aid. "I owe you more than you might think," he adds, his gratitude evident in his expression. "If ever you find yourself in need, don't hesitate to call upon me." With a nod of mutual respect, Aureus takes a moment to offer a silent thanks to the Healer's guild for their tireless efforts, knowing that people like Joan make a profound difference in the lives of those they touch. "Alright well I should be on my way, thank you for everything!" he says as he turns to walk out.
