Part of the Merfolk Tale Arc

Summary: Sadie recruits two merpeople to help her further mayhem on shore: her cousin Lorie and Marcus. The Artifacts of Mercea are retrieved from their underwater secure location.

Characters: Sadie, Lorie, NPC Samson and NPC Marcus

Location: Cenril; Selen Island.

Sadie is standing on the white sanded beaches of Selen island, pacing casually while Samson seems content sunbathing upon the shore where his red scaled tail is constantly bathed in the briny water. “Samson. Where in the hell is she? Why isn’t she here yet?” The blonde captain demands, checking her wrist watch and occasionally looking up at the clear sky as if it held the answers to her questions.

Samson, as stated, is enjoying the sun against his tanned flesh, currently laying upon his stomach to allow his back warmth while the surf washes ashore and consequently his tail, ensuring that the scaled appendage remains constantly saturated. “I told Marcus to have her here in five minutes. They probably ran into one of those giant sea lizards with teeth.” He, for the most part, doesn’t seem at all worried.

Lorie: Splashes would be the first sign that the duo had arrived. The first actual sign was that of a strong green tail raising from the waves and slamming down hard upon a brunette male's head. With him back underwater, Lorie was quick to pop her head up- long crimson locks flowing around her while she wades- blue eyes scanning the shore for- ah, there they were. A few solid kicks with her tail and the redhead was there, grinning wide as she looks up at Sadie from her belly on the beach, "Hello cousin." Marcus came up behind the woman, mumbling something along the lines about a stubborn red-head making them late.

Sadie snorts towards Lorie the moment she surfaces the second time and offers Marcus an apologetic smile. “I would have liked you to be here on time.” The captain mutters, clasping her hands behind her back to rest in the curve the small of it makes. “There’s a reason I asked you here, Lorie.”

Samson laughs loudly after witnessing Marcus’ unfortunate slap in the head and the moment Lorie beaches herself, he turns to her with a grin. “Nice. Learn that from Sads?” He questions, already moving slowly to duck away from a kick the blonde will more than likely throw at him.

Lorie 's face wrinkles as she grins, "Course, Sammie. I learnt from the best." Propping herself upon her elbows, the freckled faced woman pouts softly towards the one standing, "I'm sorry... Someone should have told Marcus it was important...I just thought you missed me. I'd have been faster if I knew." She'd look over her cousin then, a brow lofting as she tilted her head, "Why are you standing?"

Marcus waved Sadie's look off- he knew full well how much of a handful Lorie could be. Samson was shot a glare for his laugh, and the male’s own tail suddenly flicks upwards in an attempt to send water sailing through the air towards the red tailed maid.

Sadie fires a short and un-amused glare towards Samson and then Marcus before her attention curbs back towards Lorie. “Whether or not it was important, you should still make a habit of being on time.” The woman was just all around bitter today, and she’d make sure to apologize for it later. “There are two things I need to speak to you about.” She starts, lowering herself into the sand in a seated position, choosing to ignore the red-head’s question for now. “First off, some woman knows about us. About –me-. She told me she’s found books. So, first on the agenda is burning books. Secondly, I need help up here. Samson manages the crew, and it leaves me to do all the work alone. There’s places I’d like to blow up, set on fire, stuff like that and it’s hard to do alone. So, I need you up here. Now.” And as her attention flicks towards Marcus for no reason but simply scrutiny she adds, “And, I’ll be needing the rest of the artifacts.”

Samson merely reaches over to pat Sadie’s closest leg the moment she sits down in a fond manner that would pass of as a reassuring squeeze to any onlooker. “The crew is doin’ just fine. Ain’t been askin’ questions, haven’t thought too far into things. Pay a man enough and he won’t ask questions if his life depended on it. And,” He beings, furrowing his brows softly, “You’re too quick to destroy things the moment someone thinks they’re onto something. Let it play out so we don’t draw unneeded attention to ourselves right now, Sads.”

Lorie 's lips curve into a frown- she hated the command in her cousins voice, though she'd do as told. Blue eyes closing, she'd concentrate upon the splitting of her tail into two separate legs. It was a trick mostly unused by the mermaid, though it didn't take her too long to accomplish her goal. Once 'humanized', she'd push her hands into the sand and pull her legs under her, slowly applying pressure upon those long lost feet of hers. Even more slowly she'd raise the rest of her body, now standing- although wobbly- completely erect upon the shore, nude as a jay-bird. "Well, seems we need to do something about these books."

Marcus offers a quick nod towards Sadie before he uses strong arms to shift around and head off to fetch what is asked for. He'd be gone for a few minutes before finally re-surfacing and placing a bag upon the shore near Sadie without a word.

Sadie inclines not to watch Lorie’s transformation merely out of respect and instead her attention curves towards Samson who receives a nod. “Then, I’ll pay someone to pay someone to burn them then. Or I’ll just have Marcus do it. He never leaves the water anyhow.” The moment Sadie can turn back towards Lorie, she keeps her blue gaze on the woman’s green and only looks away from her the moment Marcus retrieves the bag. “Let’s hope these aren’t too tarnished.” She muses before shifting a hand into her pocket to retrieve a small draw-string bag. “You’ll be needing clothes.” Tossing the bag, once landed, the innards would clink together to signal money.

Samson, despite Sadie’s obvious respect, doesn’t offer the same for Lorie and blatantly watches her from the moment she changes to the moment she’s out of the water. He even goes as far as to whistle at her appraisingly. “You got some nice legs there land-walker.” He jests, winking towards her and then Sadie to ensure the Captain wouldn’t turn her wrath on to him anytime soon.

Lorie tosses her arms over her head and poses at the whistle- she never had been one for modesty. The moment Sadie starts speaking however, attention was turned back towards business at the second mentioning of blowing stuff up, "No... Marcus can't have all the fun!" Pouting softly, the mermaid turns to the captain and crosses her arms, "Clothes, yes. Is there a set way I should look? What shall be my role?"

Marcus shoots another glares Samson's way, the brunette picking up a pebble and tossing it the blondes way before looking back towards the red head and her cousin; golden yellow tail raising out of the water and allowing his flipper to pour water over his shoulders.

Sadie closes her eyes and sighs. “It’s like dealing with children.” She mutters before pushing herself to stand once more, that bag of jewelry in hand. “Lorie. There is no relation between us. None what so ever outside of this water. You don’t know me, I don’t know you, Samson doesn’t know you.” Turning towards Marcus, the blonde’s gaze narrows. “You and Lorie will burn every book in this land concerning our lore. Every-single-book.” Thereafter, with the clothing mentioned, Sadie shrugs. “I suggest lots and lots of jewelry. Big earrings, hair pins, necklaces. Things close to the ears. There’s an avian woman out there who’s body is completely –made- of metal. She’s the one that supposedly knows of us.” Turning to signal her departure from the area, she calls over her shoulder. “If you need me, or I you, send word to the ship.”

Samson, concluding today’s meeting the moment Sadie pushes herself up, begins to slide back out into the water surrounding Selen island. He’d swim back to the ship and change nearby before getting back to work; the crew probably wondered where he had gone off to, he was usually there like a hawk.

Lorie dipped her head towards Sadie, "Right... lady-whom-I-don't-know." Another nod was offered before she'd turn back towards Marcus, "You heard her ya lazy brute. Get your tail up out of the water and make yourself look like a land-walker. We've a book hunt to do." She was ever so fond of burning things- mostly because it was only the land-dwellers items that would burn.

Marcus groans, but does as told, rising from the waves to follow Lorie towards a local hut, where they can steal come clothing before shopping.
