RP:Stay In Shadows Part One

The Black Spire

This is a Necromancer's Guild RP.

Synopsis: Pyde and Joan tackle setting up a trap of shadow-ice-encased skeletal rats inside the Black Spire to help protect it from people that might threaten the guild.

Pyde ponders looking over a scroll regarding a quest he signed, "Hmmm, things are not looking good if we've been asked to set up defenses for the guild. I wonder if they would approve my request to use the Blood Fountain as a perpetual resource for a defense mechanic for the city and guild. Anyway, back to the task at hand. I need to figure out how to use Shadow Ice with my Rats. Hmmmm... Ah, I got it!" The Fermin tucks away the scroll in a belt pouch and pulls out a pouch of bones dropping it to scatter them. Raising his hand and drawing on the dark nature of his magic recalling the Ice he made long ago in his lessons. With a whip of his fingers blue tinged with violet whips of magic lash out at each of the bones. The bones clatter as to draw together only this time they start to frost over, making them more resilient rather than his usual method of Calcimancy. This gives his rats a more rime-encrusted, angular, and jagged look. Once one of the rats is reassembled and has it move around him noting how it moves differently than the other rats.

Joan enters into the Black Spire, on her way to look for Pyde as she did sign them up for this new adventure, she pokes her head in several different rooms, classrooms, and libraries before she finds her little furry guildmate. Seeing that he was already hard at work the vampiric healer enters into the room as quickly as she can, stopping short near the fermin as she gets a good look at his beginning progress. She'd lightly drum a few of her icy pale fingers against her chin as she nodded it looked off to a decent start. "Now remember Khitti said since we are not from the shadow realm the best, we can do is channel the black tides, so focus and pour as much of your personal magic energies into these icy shadows." Joan was ready to lend her own magic and power to this starting project. They had two whole other areas that belonged to the guild to cover after all.

Pyde's ears normally swivel around as he listens for danger, but he was so focused on what he was doing he hadn't noticed the vampire's presence until she spoke. The fermin jumped with a start holding a hand to his chest. "Great Ryeanna!" He takes a moment to get his composure back, pretending to dust himself off, and clearing his throat. "Ah... Joan... Good to see you again. You mentioned more power, right? I have a ton of untapped power I don't normally use so I am sure we could use that to help." His eye tattoos glow a bright purple. He reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a small stick, waving a hand over it, it enlarges to resize into his clan's flute he got from the shaman who trained him. Putting it to his lips, he wills his magic to take the form he needed, guiding it to use a stronger form of the magic he was just using to rime-ify his rat. Black and blue magic swirl around the flute then lash out at the rats' bones still scattered across the floor plus the one he already reassembled. The frost grows quicker on the bones, a vorpal sheen is seen glinting off the teeth and claws of his rats this time. The mini-mancer brings his flute down, "Ah I see. I like where this is going."

Joan bobs her head from side to side as she thinks, her voided light violet gaze examining Pyde's growing horde of shadow ice-encased skeletal rats. "Might wanna add more of that bone meal of yours so when they are attacked, they don't break and shatter so easy, these need to last and protect the black spire till our fellow necromancers can come and defend from wherever they are inside and outside of here. And if you don't mind..." Saying that Joan reaches out with her right hand, icy pale fingers spread out as she looks down at her guildmate for permission to add a bit of her own magic to his creations.

Pyde nods giving permission. Using one hand to grab another pouch from his waist, he tosses that to the ground then uses the flute to empower the bonemeal with more magic then creates a swirling cloud that soon finds itself bulking up the rats from the added calcium under the ice that shifts to fit the new bones inside. The rats now had a dark blue armor of ice with pulsing veins of violet energy flowing through them. Pyde looks over to Joan, "So can you guide the excess power I have to make them stronger? I say that because few folks know that I absorbed a large crystal of magic in my earlier guild days, and I haven't quite tried using it as folks have warned me against it."

Joan gave her fellow guildmate a concerning look as he spoke of this crystal. "Hmm, you can give it a try if you wanna, I'm not gonna say no." She said before turning her attention to the task at hand, inhaling sharply she gathered her own magical energies and with a focused look she poured magical energy down her arm, into her hand and fingers that always show in a purple color. Down and out, it flows from her fingers to slowly begin to gather around the enhanced skeletal rats, she mummers a few words of incantation to add more magical power to what she was hopefully doing. If it took these shadow ice armored rats would reanimate upon any possible harmful damage done to them while they were activated in defense of the Black Spire.

Pyde lowers his flute and scratches at his chin thinking. "I've got an idea. So, we have an enchantment on the Rime Rats to reanimate upon defeat. How about I draw up some sigils around the place, power them with my excess magic, and you can program them to keep the Rime Rats coming? Perpetual Rime Rats, until the sigil is broken by an outside force." Using his flute again he does just that, hiding the sigils among the ones already protecting the Guild HQ so that they aren't that obvious. Pure violet tendrils snake out from the flute while Pyde is playing it drawing themselves into the designs he needs for this magic to work. Once in place magic pulses in sync with the veins in the Rime Rats.

Joan arches one brow as she glances at Pyde, "Uh, I can add on to my reanimation of those you got here...but I can't summon up more out of nowhere...if you mean once they shatter upon impact -finally- and splitter out into all-new brand ones like what you can do I dunno...not my type of magic." She points out, she could make it so that each bone tried to continue attacking once it broke off finally from the main form.

Pyde nods, then raises his flute again. This time focusing on a song his clan had for reanimating the dead. With the precise focus this time, he rewrites the sigils he was working on so when a Rime Rat was -finally- defeated, its bones and shadow ice-encased form would disappear, then reappear near the hidden sigils reformed and ready to defend the Spire once more. "It looks like that is all we have to do here, now that the defense is set up. Want to work at the library next? Let me think, the quest said we needed to make Shadows outside the library?"

Joan nodded her head in approval, lowering her hand once her magic had done what was needed. "Yeah, we can move on to that, but let's take a break first. Tea and snacks at the Hanging Corpse, yeah?" With that, she would lead the way out and towards town and the tavern.
