Summary: Pilar and Emilia tend the wounded after the Frostmaw-Larket battle.

Frostmaw Fort Infirmary

Pilar wasn't quite up to date with the goings-on with the war. She had only just heard that there was one! Leaving Cassy in their room to watch after the animals, Pilar hobbled her way down to the infirmary where many soldiers had been brought in. She was still getting used to her new, steel-and-silver leg. She looked around until she found the nurse who had mentored her, and headed over to her. "Eileen, how can I help?" The nurse, who had been washing a soldier's wounds, looked at Pilar in surprise. "Why--Pilar, you ought to be resting!" "I've been resting for weeks. How can I help?" Eileen looked at her, then sighed. "Start by washing your hands, then clean this man's injuries and start stitching and bandaging." Pilar headed over to a wash basin to get her hands clean. It wasn't easy, doing it with a crutch, but she managed.

Emilia was in the same position as Pilar when it came to news of war, lacking. The Genasi had spent her most recent days presenting the world with something much different, life. She had birth three babies giving the Healer no time to focus on anything else beyond bringing innocent life into this world. Yet, something was not right and it was a beckoning from Eileen that brought her away from this softer side of her job to the infirmary to meet with her. It was all hands on deck, never enough healers it seemed. A bright smile flashed seeing that Pilar had come too. Moving along the Genasi met her over at the sink so that she could wash her hands as well. “Pilar! Great Moons it is good to see you on your new leg up and about. I admire you coming to heal when you should be healing yourself.”

Pilar managed a smile for Emilia, though she still seemed haunted. Her eyes gave it away. "Thank you. I... I have to do something. So many people are hurt. Come, help me with this soldier." Pilar dried off her hands and headed back over to the man Eileen was tending. Eileen vacated the seat and Pilar sat down, placing the crutch on the floor. She began dabbing at the man's wounds with the antiseptic-soaked cloth. The table nearby had a roll of bandages, a pair of scissors, and needle and thread.

Emilia in turned dried off her hands before following Pilar over to the injured man. It saddened her to see so much pain and injuries in the world, especially after bringing life into it. Taking up another rag soaked in antiseptic Emi began to clean the wounds present on the other side of the soldier. The fact he was unconscious was a small relief to the healer, at least this would be less painful to him now. “I am blind sighted by this turning of events into fighting. I really do wish that the cities could get along. At least you being one of the known citizens to this town you can almost fully believe that your life will be defended.”

Pilar nodded. "I know. I hate all this fighting." Pilar moved from the arm to the leg. "I... I don't know how I feel about that. My life is no more important than anyone's. It's worth less than most, in fact."

Emilia worked from leg to arm, working the opposite way of Pilar with the wound cleaning. Setting aside the rag so that she could thread a needle Em shook her head, "You are priceless my dear, never forget that." Words spoken she would start to stitch a wound on the man's thigh.

Pilar blushed. "... So are you." She, too, started stitching up the man's wounds. "You know... I was trying to think of a way to keep that leg you gave me when and if I leave Frostmaw. Strange, I know, but... it's enchanted ice. And more importantly, a gift from a friend. Perhaps I can let it melt into a bottle..."

Emilia worked quietly putting stitches into the man, the healer had become ever so good at this. She worked like it was second nature to close a wound. Turning a gaze toward Pilar she smiled a moment, "You know, I can always enchant it into something else for you. I do have my magic back again so it will last longer. Just a monthly visit to refreeze it up again."

Pilar glanced up at Emilia and smiled back. "I'm glad to hear it. I was a little worried." Pilar went back to stitching. "I don't know what kind of thing I'd want, though... Something to discuss later, I suppose." Pilar finished the wound she was working on and moved on to another. The man stirred slightly and Pilar frowned. She patted his head, wishing she could still use her numbing spell.

Emilia was not far behind Pilar in finishing the wound she was working on. As the man began to stir Emi moved a hand to rest it on his forehead. There was a gentle white-blue light that left her hand, washing over the man with a instant effect of lulling him back into a slumber. "That is true. I do hope that things are going smoothly over in Larket. Don't tell anyone, but I miss Sabrina, I haven't really been away from her for much longer than being kidnapped since I lost my memories forever ago."

Pilar watched Emilia with a twinge of jealousy, but squashed it. She might get her magic back, Reginae said so. She had to hope... "I miss her too... Even if we didn't always get along..." She looked at Emilia sadly. "We do tend to get in trouble a lot, don't we..."

Emilia gave a gentle giggle, "Oh, you have no idea the trouble that I have gotten into in my life time, but yes trouble tends to be about when I am around, seems it likes you too. I swear Sabrina if she could get away with it would have me locked in a hidden tower with padded walls." There was another giggle at the thought of being in a padded tower room, "Don't worry. Sabrina used to not like me either."

Pilar smiled softly before returning to her stitching. Soon, she had finished the man's arm wounds as well, and worked to bandage them up, to protect the stitches. "Sabrina is... very rough. But she is a good person, deep down, isn't she?"

Emilia went on to stitching one last smaller wound on the man as she replied to Pilar, "Though she will never admit it she is truly a wonderful good caring person under all the rough." Then it was to wrapping the man up, keeping him all clean and ready to heal.

Pilar bent down to pick up her crutch, then got to her feet. "Well. On to the next patient."
