Mythayus manages to capture one of the members of the ambushing party, stopping the ambushees attempt to assassinate the prisoner!

The Roleplay!

Lycidas once more this day had set up a raid to occur and watch the reaction speed of the guards. His own men were driving the caravan, a few gangsters from Cenril, and vampires to attack it.. He needed it to seemingly match the prior attacks, get the guards attention up and keep track of their reactions. This caravan raid was to occur half a mile from the gate, the caravan to be filled with a very small amount of metals from Lycidas’ collection. Lycidas himself, in all his aged splendor, looked out over the bridge at the sinkhole which had opened up some vast distance down the way.

The elite soldiers were in groups the each patrolled a section of the once beautiful bridge. They were even more dedicated now than they ever had been due to the battle and the earthquake. They weren’t about to let preventable danger through. The city had already suffered enough. The pair of Larket Knight stood stoically on the Larket side of the bridge listen and watching for signs of trouble. The reinforcements did just that they filled in on areas of the bridge that maybe need extra eyes and ears to help keep look out. Mythayus himself wasn’t on the bridge but nearby helping to clear some rumble. He was alert to the surrounding, due to the fact that, they were still clearing rumble and trying to rebuild. The soldiers would nod to the caravan once they could see it. They would motion for it to stop, and ask standard questions such ‘where are you from’ ‘what are you carrying’ those kinds of questions and would also thank them for their assistance. They would also do a generalized search if the caravan, just glancing in and making sure that what they say they are carrying they were in fact carrying. After things would seem in check they would allow the caravan to pass.

Lycidas kept track of the process the guards were using as they monitored the various caravans, would this be an issue? No, he never planned on bringing more than a couple in here and then leaving with them shortly after.. But the true process for him was monitoring the reactions of the guard to a crisis. He tested it once a night before, utilizing illusions but this may be just as important.. Monitoring the process after as well as before. The caravan pulled up into it’s designated spot, hitting a ‘rut’ in the road and having the wooden tire shatter intentionally.. Well, a hammer did that trick before being thrown far out into the woods. Suddenly, once the scene was set, the caravan was attacked by bolts and arrows, screams of help made loud and far, as humans nearly a half mile away beckoned for assistance.

The reinforcements would leap into action at the sound of people crying for help. They would quickly start running to the aid of those in need and the first group of elite soldiers would also running to the aid of those in need. The rest would stay back to protect the bridge and other caravans making their way into the city. Mythayus would also start to make his way to where the cries were coming from. He didn’t really want to go, he was still hurt from the battle with corruption and the battle of for the bridge. He also wasn’t wearing his armor due to his injuries but he did have his sword and shield with him. He’d used his super human speed to get there as quickly as he could. He’d stop just before the scene and take in the situation. His blue hue taking in the details to pin point each where the assailants were and if they were assailants at all. He remembers from his time working with his brother to pull off heists they’d set-up rigged crossbows to fire once something was hit. He didn’t want to walk into an ambush. He’d order the men to do the same. After scanning, he’d bark out some orders, “Alright be careful, move quickly and use your heads. We’re not push overs.” The men would’ve stop at Myth command and all would’ve have nodded to him at his words of advice. Some of the men would quickly move to start protecting the caravan and getting the people to safety and the rest would be trying to hunt down and stop the people with the bows and crossbows. Myth would take his sword and shield in hand and take up defense of the Caravan. He trusted the men to hunt down the archers. He new they could handle it. Myth’s sole purpose was to protect and he was ready for anything to come his way. He was also the only one not wearing armor, instead he was wearing a nobleman’s outfit, it was blue with silver trim. The sword was definitely not made from metal and looked almost ivory in color. The shield had seen better days, the insignia on it faded and unrecognizable. He wouldn’t falter even as arrows and bolts collided with his shield. The important thing was to get the innocent to safety.

Lycidas watched as man and dragon rushed across the scene to go defend the caravan in trouble. As the moved, Lycidas was counting their time, not making it obvious, instead watching the sinkhole in the distance. It seemed a good enough as excuse as any.. The men attacking the caravan had the easiest of instructions, for as soon as the guards started to show, the vampires ran. Deep into the Sage forest attempting to elude capture. The gang members at the caravan began their roles as actors, attempting to look scared and frightened.. Yet counting numbers of those who showed up to depict whether it was possible to defeat them should it be needed. Their weapons, armor, and mounts (If any) Were also noted for information to bring back to Lycidas. The man had given each of them an individual piece to keep track of, none having more than one or two bits of information to gather and bring back to the death knight at a later date. Lycidas was sitting back, just enjoying the view and awaiting any further information he might glean from being on this side of the conflict.

The men’s reaction time was quick. They responded in a timely manner for humans. There would be about 18 soldiers plus a Myththat would have responded. Some of the soldiers would pursue the Vampires, however the vampires have the advantage of inhuman speed. The men would be fooled, not many would question those in danger. The men would lead the ‘innocent’ away, for their protection. Once that is done and Myth can see that they are being led to safety. He’d join in the chase. While several of the men would return fire sending their own arrows and bolts. Myth would start running using his own in-human speed to try catching up with one of the fleeing Vampires. He smirked knowing that the Vampire thought they could out run him. Suddenly there would be a flash of lightning followed by thunder and Myth would be gone. A second strike would happen in front of the vampire and Myth would be there, ready to tackle the vampire. Which he’d do. Sending the vampire into the dirt making sure he kept a good grip on the man. He’d send a pulse of electricity in the vampire rendering him unconscious. He’d order a couple of the men to take the Vampire to a prison cell and would go back to the chase. Though by this time most of those who ran would be out of sight. He’d stop and head back to the caravan to see what needs to be done there.

Lycidas couldn’t see or hear what had happened, nor was he certain if they’d all escaped.. They should've however, humans against vampires? Nothing should be of concern or issue. The vampires find themselves counting each other at their given rendezvous point, missing one of the people they’d started with. Lycidas had instructions, should one be taken, one should be eliminated.. Was it possible to eliminate the man before he made it back? The four remaining members turned amongst themselves, whispering, before finally deciding who might take the one shot they may have at their companion.. From the trees overlooking the bridge. He gave the area a wide berth, moving along from tree to tree attempting to remain hidden, should he be caught, the man was instructed in the temporary removal of his own tongue.. One bite and he’d be out for days if constantly fed.. Or longer if starved.

The men carrying the Vampire were moving as quickly as they could carrying the dead weight of the vampire. There were still other men in the forest. Trying to remain hidden from their trained eyes would prove to be a difficult task. They continued to search for the runaway assailants, now presumed Vampires due to the capture of said one Vampire. Mythayus had an off feeling about the situation but couldn’t place it. It was like he’d seen this situation before and it didn’t end well for him. He pushed those thoughts to the back of his head. He let out a deep sigh of pain. The wound to his stomach was acting up and causing him pain. He’d force himself to straighten up and let out another sigh, pushing the pain to the back of his mind or at least trying to. “Alright let’s get this cleaned up and get them back on their way. I’m sure they’re tired and scared and just want to be safe within the city.” He’d walk over to the busted wheel and look at it. It clearly couldn’t be repaired. How he wished he had Ari with him. He could command him to go and get a new one. Oh! Wait! He does have people he can command. He’d point at a soldier. “You! Go get a new wheel… I’ll pay for it. Come here and I’ll give you the gold.” The exchange of gold would happen the soldier would run off to fetch the new wheel. Whilst waiting would look for any more damage that can be easily fixed.

Lycidas watched as the man went to fetch a wheel for Mythayus, his eyes now fixated from a distance upon the leader. He began to mentally take notes before shifting his vision back towards the waterfall. His senses came into focus, eyes began to close off as he no longer looked through them, his vision blurring as instead he focused upon hearing. The distance between him and Mythayus was great, yet the commands and words could be faintly made out. He searched for a name amongst the chaos, who lead these troops and showed them their ways.. That was all he sought. His vampire amongst the trees, Syrik, had made his way into the branches a good twenty feed up, and was now leaping his lithe frame from one to the next.. He needed to get closer, closer still, so his shot was naught but perfect.. If the other vampire couldn’t bite his own tongue to silence himself, then he’d need to be killed..

Mythayus would make any small repairs while the soldier was gone. By this time some of the remaining soldiers have made perimeter around the caravan. Other were starting to also make field repair to the caravan. There it was, that nagging feeling on the back on Myth’s neck, like he was being watched but from where? Didn’t matter anyone would be foolish to attack him now. The men continued to carry the captured vampire as a few more men would join. Giving up on their chase of the others who had fled. Finally the soldier had come back with the wheel, he was out of breath and came back riding a horse. He’d dismount and walked over to Mythayus. “Here you go, Mythayus. Is there anything else I can do?” Myth would nod. “You can put the wheel on when I lift the cart, alright? Count of three. 1….2……3” Myth would use his inhuman strength to lift the cart. His arms shaking but able to hold the cart up long enough for the new wheel to be placed on. The soldier spoke once more, “Sir, you had the much change.” Myth would give the man a pained smile and the pain could be heard in his voice to those who were skilled. “Keep the change. I’m not worried about it.” He’d look to the ‘innocent’, “Alright you should be good to go.” He’d then look to the men, “Make sure they make it into the city. I have a something I need to take care of.” He’d nod to the soldier with the horse, “Lead them in.” He’d start to walk back to town a hand placed firmly on his midsection. Hoping that the men had gotten back to town with his prisoner.

Lycidas was hearing footsteps approach, the name was spoken and yet closer came footsteps from the wreckage.. Complaints about the weight of some deadweight vampire they had to drag back? The man’s eyes rolled as he scoured the trees for his assassin in waiting.. The one man who had to job of picking off anyone who got captured. The death knight couldn’t seem to spot the man? Where could he be? It mattered little, perhaps he just couldn’t find him, either way, Lycidas needed a hand to play and now. He spotted the men on their way across the bridge and with a earnest approach he spoke to the ones transporting their prisoner, “Sir, guard sir, if you’ll excuse me I can see you’re busy!” He continued his approach, seemingly coming closer to the guard, his back towards Larket, the guards towards Sage, “I was hoping you might be able to tell me where Josleen would be today? We met yesterday and she informed me I was to come speak with her.. Would you by chance be able to offer me some information on where I could find her?” Lycidas looked for the bolt, where was it? And before he could spot it, it was heard, whizzing across the bridge at the prisoner’s head…

The men would stop for a moment at the man calling for the guards. He looked around wondering if there was anyone else this man could talk to, but to be welcoming and to show Larket hasn’t lost their spirit, he’d respond to the man, “Have you tried looking in Fort Freedom. If she’s not there the Knights there should know where she is. I’m sorry I can’t be of more assistance but we really need to go.” He’d look to the unconscious person in their arms. The sound of thunder was heard, and then a flash of Lightning, and Lycidas, the soldiers and vampire would on the ground. Tackle in a split second, as the bolt collided with the bridge. Those with sensitive noses would smell the fresh blood coming from the nobleman. He’d push himself back to his feet. “You two take him” he nod to the vampire, “and go.” He’d look to Lycidas. “I’m sorry for that.” He’d offer a warm smile. “Did you need something?”

Lycidas was shocked, briefly stunned by the sudden display of power that dragon had before him.. His own strengths paled in comparison to the man before him and he did not dare try his luck here. “Yes, sir, I was wondering if you might point me in the way of Fort Freedom?” He’d need to speak with Valen, now.

Mythayus would point down the way. “It’s that way, just past the Academy.” He ‘d smile. “Now if you’ll excuse me I have somethings I need to tend to.” He’d offer the man a bow and starting heading in the direction he had just pointed. Following after the soldiers carrying the vampire.

Lycidas at first went in the direction of Fort Freedom, then veered off some way down the road, to a side path with several birds waiting for him. He verified no one was followed him and then checked the birds. Notes were attached to each, each bird attached to a number, and Lycidas’ journal pulled free. The man began to scribble down the various information before heading to the academy.. It was time to get a favor.
