Part of the Law and Oreder Arc

Summary

Lycidas and Seiko utilize illusions to test the response time of the Larket Guards, monitoring their reaction, their equipment, and other pertinent information to guarantee the success of future missions.

The Roleplay!

Seiko phased into reality beside Lycidas, "I believe you rang?" He giggles lightly, a hand sliding his long white hair behind his slightly pointed ears.

Lycidas sat along the side of the bridge, hanging over the river. It was dark, late into the night as he counted guards, notating shifts, monitoring where they watched and for how long. This was to be a new type of plan.. He’d need to test how long their reaction times were, when they swapped people out, what weapons they used, how good was their lighting.. The distance they might hear people at. Did they have horses? Other guards that could be summoned? ALl of this was important and more.. The death knight planned to steal quite the fortune this time around. As the fox appeared, the late 40’s appearing vampire nodded to the young one, “I did indeed look for you to accompany me this eve. I have need for your unique services, if you’re interested in assisting.”

Seiko hopped down beside Felix, his tails dancing along beside him. "Oh, I don't know. I thought i'd come all this way just so that you could stare at how beautiful i am in the moonlight." He pointed down at the water beneath them, the moon lighting his reflection, his skin radiating.

Lycidas rolled his eyes at the smart remark the young foxling made, “I See. Well then, young foxling, here is what I need.” He leaned in close, making sure none could hear, “You’re to go across the river, scream for help, illusions are going to be your friend here. Then, you’re going to create a scene with illusions.. I don’t care what it is, a kid fighting a bear? A gopher trapped in a hole, it matters not. But, what does matter if you remembering how long it takes for them to get to you.. Elves and humans.. And, if they can even hear you.. And, what is the maximum distance they can hear you at.”..

Seiko Pouts, "Aww, Lixie! I thought you were going to give me a challenge to... I don't know, test me? This is like cake!" He giggled, seemingly appearing to hop off the bridge and enter the water. As he hit the water the illusion dissipated exposing the truth of the doppel. Just a few moments later Seiko was on the other side of the River where he sat amongst the trees, beginning to channel and weave his illusion. Moments later, a caravan carrying a family headed towards the town. Quite promptly and -fortunately- a band of thieves charged the caravan, cutting the horses loose which charged toward the gate, startling the guards. The moment the guards spotted the horses, they were entwined in the illusion Seiko was weaving, he could make them see and hear anything he pleased. In their ears only echoed the sounds of children and women screaming, men pleading for help. All that was left now was to wait for them to arrive.

Lycidas watched as the fox dove into the river and sped across, taking refuge on the other side. He watched as the magic was cast, the caravan was created anr raided. The knight watched the scene of the guards as they pointed at the distant images and sounds, rounding up weapons and resources, charging forth towards the calamity that was being caused.. But, when they arrived, crossing the bridge, past some very confused elves who hadn’t seen or heard it, and finally got there.. They found nothing.. No sign of horses or a battle, no bandits, nothing was seen.. And behind them on the bridge was the knight, writing down everything. Approximate distance, response time, horses, numbers, weaponry. He needed all the information he could get. When finished, he signaled to the fox to return to him, quietly. A wave, followed by him placing a finger to his mouth.

Seiko took to his fox form fleet footedly heading toward Felix. as he arrived he noted that Felix had been jotting down the information as well. He promptly told Felix his calculations to compare and make sure they were precise as possible. "That was a bit amusing i'll say. " He giggled, unfortunately his childish behaviour wasn't able to hide his clear tiredness. Seiko would never admit it, but this had been one of his biggest illusions to date, and as so, it took quite a bit out of him.

Lycidas looked at the small fox, a grin on his face as he realized how tired the small one looked. He bent over to lift the tiny fox, placing him on his lap, unless protested. “You did good, tiny fox. What would you like to eat while we wait to take up our practice once again? Perhaps, next time we could do something a little easier?” He wasn’t exactly sure what all the foxling had done, but he was sure that it had taken it’s toll.

Seiko nuzzled into Felix's lap, "C-could I have some beef stew?" He drooled lightly at the thought, his tails waving elatedly.

Lycidas chuckled at the fox, placing his notebook inside his cloak. “Shhh for just a moment, small one.” The man looked over as a group of knights approached him, “Sir, did you see the incident that occurred over in the forest?” The death knight looked at him, confused, “Incident sir?” The guard seemed upset, his friends no different, as they approached, “And what brings you out here? So late? Ya got some kind of business around here?” The death knight smiled, attempting to remain polite with the guards, “My apologies, I was simply here walking my fox and watching the river.. It’s the best spot in town.”

Seiko concealed his second tail, appearing as an unassuming fox. He even chirped lightly as the guards in a playful manner.

Lycidas watched as the guard seemed rather upset, not truly believing the man, especially after the magical incident, “What’s your name?” He asked gruffly, making sure he’d notate it in his report, “My name sir? I am Lycidas Nazek, Retired Knight of Cenril and here to help with the reconstruction of Larket. Is this an issue? Or should I bring my services back to Cenril if I’m not wanted?”

Seiko watched as a few of the guards began to murmur to one another behind the one speaking with Lycidas. It appeared they had heard of him and did not want to challenge his authority. one of the guards whispered into the main guards ear. Annoyed, the main guard sighed, "My apologies sir. We thank you for your services. Goodnight." They turned and headed back to their posts.

Lycidas waved the guards farewell, “Thank you for your diligence sir, I appreciate you keeping the city safe.” The man waited as the guards moved towards the end of the bridge and once they reached it, he spoke to the fox once more, “Okay, so, little fox, what would you like to have from me? I heard you like shiny things? And you mentioned some meat broth?”

Seiko hopped up onto Lycidas' shoulder excitedly, "Yes and yes, please!" He chirped beside his ear. Seiko's nose lifted into the air for but a moment, as he caught the scent of something delicious. "There's a place in that town that smells really good! Can we go there?"

Lycidas stood with the tiny fox still on his shoulder and headed for a nearby inn. The red ogre was damaged but perhaps he’d find a small place to rest with food? As he passed the guard, the knight once again gave him a polite nod, “Godspeed sir guard, may your night be uneventful and your fellows vigilant in case it’s not.” He found a nearby inn, one that was smaller than the ogre, less known and took up residence inside. A spot near their fire, a bowl of meat ordered with soup? Vegetables and all! And a room to rest for him and the tiny fox.
