RP:Leviathan Hunt

From HollowWiki

This is a Adventurer's Guild RP.

Summary: At Nikola’s request, a team of Adventurer’s heads out to try and hunt a leviathan to acquire the spine for the blacksmith. Locating a creature of the deep would normally be a challenging task, but luckily Meri has had a past encounter with one and has an idea of where the beast may call home.

Sea Cliffs

Meri :: Letters have been sent out to all the appropriate parties, requesting help out in Rynvale to complete a particularly dangerous mission; a certain blacksmith has requested that the guild bring down a leviathan. All of the pertinent information has been included in the letter, such as the date this hunt is supposed to take place as well as an approximate location. Given the time that it takes to travel to Rynvale, everyone is encouraged to arrive the day before they are planning to undergo this adventure. Each recipient will also find that a ticket to the boat that ferries individuals between Cenril and Rynvale has been included and each recipient will also learn that they will have a room paid for and waiting for them at the Kraken’s Lair, which has always been Meri’s preferred inn when visiting Rynvale. All they will need to do is speak with Patch, who will also inform them that they all have an open tab available to them during their stay. The morning of the hunt, everyone will be woken up by someone pounding on their bedroom door. They are informed that they will have an hour and a half to prepare themselves before they will travel as a group to the spot where Meri believes the leviathan will be found. Meri is not amongst the traveling group of adventurer’s, having left the Kraken early to set up all the gear they will be making use of during this hunt. (1 of 2)

Meri :: The team will be guided to the cliffs that line the western coast of the island where they will find that Meri is waiting with a small arsenal to use against the leviathan. Three oversized slingshots have been set up between large posts that have been driven into the earth. Surrounding them are piles of ammunition to use against the beast they are trying to hunt. This ammo does not consist of stones. The most obvious are barrels full of black tar that the team’s pyromancers will hopefully find quite useful, as the sticky black substance is quite flammable. Less obvious are the piles of large glass baubles, some are full of semi-transparent orange liquid which is acidic in nature while others contain a cloudy green fluid that will act as a sedative. Of course, Meri has absolutely no idea how much of the sedative is needed to actually be effective against something as large as a leviathan. All of this has been stationed in a small semi-circle surrounding one very large and very dark hole, all are also positioned to be facing the ocean. Those with extensive knowledge of Rynvale’s geography might have the knowledge that this hole leads directly into what the locals refer to as “Wave Crash Cave”. They might also have the awareness that this large opening has not always been there, something very big created it years ago. When the group of adventurer’s arrive, they will find Meri standing on the edge of that very large hole but she is not idly waiting for them to arrive. The tattooed blonde is kicking items down into this dark chasm with the hope that she might be able to bait the leviathan that is rumored to live in the cave below out of hiding. These items mostly consist of buckets full of fish guts but several orbs of light have also been sent toppling over the edge to help illuminate the darkness below...or irritate the leviathan. Probably both. (2 of 2)

Futsuka :: There is a moment of utter confusion for Futsuka when she first receives her letter. The albino feline had always lived an ascetic, tribal lifestyle- one that did not afford her the opportunity to learn how to read or write. Translating those tiny little symbols into words was a concept that unfortunately escaped this woman. Luckily for her, however, her niece Karasu had gotten one of the best educations a child of this era could have, one filled with the privileges of growing up in a tower owned by powerful mages. After finding her kinsman and discovering the contents of the letter, Futsuka began to prepare right away, ready to fulfill what she felt were her obligations to the Adventurer's Guild, and likely to the Ranger’s Guild as well. Hunting dangerous monsters and keeping people safe from harm was enough for her.

Futsuka arrives first after Meri, dressed in her typical white kosode and red hakama with a long length of silk rope wrapped around her body like a bandoleer, fitting snugly next to her yumi longbow which never left her side. Her white hair was pulled back into a tight bun so that it stayed out of her scarlet hued eyes, the crimson ribbon in her hair matching the colors of her hakama. Her tiny fingers grace the edges of the siege weapons, examining them closely, wondering how big exactly a leviathan was and how they were meant to bring down such a creature. Her entire life had been one long test against the elements, against the many savage predators that roamed the wilderness, but never in her life had Futsuka encountered something at this massive scale. Even so, Futsuka emanates a kind of placid aura as she approaches the edge of the hole, peering down expressionlessly as she watches the chum fall into the water below. After a moment she moves to assist Meri, grabbing a bucket and maneuvering it to the edge to dump into the chasm beneath them.

Karasu was sure that she had heard some sort of cliche about cats and curiosities, but she never cared to try to understand it before. Metaphors had nothing to do with magical theory, and therefore served no purpose. Today, however, was the day that she found out what it is that metaphor meant. If Meri required assistance in taking something down, surely there would be no harm if she came as Futsuka’s plus one. The spellblade keeps her dress light in consideration of the morning light slowly making the tropical heat worse. After giving a brief greeting to the familiar faces around, she takes a look at the map in hand, then at the hole. “Something like this would have been notated on this map, given smaller chasms being noted here. Given that this map is only five years old, this thing would have had to have carved it out at some point during that time.” She muses aloud. The map is put away, and she peers over the edge to watch the chum fall. Even with her darkvision, the chum falls out of sight for her. “Hm.”

Karasu :: Looking at the supplies off to the side, she looks them over. Going back towards the forest, she looks around until she finds a very suitable boulder. Even with her strength, she gives a soft noise of struggle hauling it over to the hole. Karasu wedges a flare into a divot of the stone, then gives it a tentative tug to make sure it is secure. “Gravitas.” She says, snapping her fingers. The large stone levitates no more than a few inches off of the ground, rotating in place as she guides it over the chasm. Karasu snaps her fingers again, lighting the fuse of the flare, and snaps again, deactivating the flotation spell and sending the boulder straight down the hole. If the leviathan was simply down there, hopefully the boulder would kill it on contact. It was overly optimistic, but possible nonetheless. If not, perhaps the flare could serve as a more powerful light source.

Emilia had put on her big girl boots, quite literally as she wore black boots upon her little frozen feet, and metaphorically in that she put aside her deepest fear of the ocean to sail to the island. Never mind that the healer was a winter-ice-storm wrapped in white flesh and could freeze the water. The fear from the human days always with her. To match with her worn boots the woman wore a pair of old black pants and a fitted blue-plaid button down shirt with the long sleeves rolled neatly up to her elbows. Long white dreaded locks pulled up into a high pony-tail atop her head that revealed the neatly shaved sides of her head. A large back pack slung over her shoulder filled with an assortment of healing items and snacks. As a mother of five the woman had learned to always keep a surplus of on-the-go snacks in her pack. Sitting atop of the pack was Righty, her faithful severed black-ice animated hand. Said hand enjoying waving an index finger at Magik as the group traveled to meet Meri.

Emilia :: It was with silence that the Genasi traveled with the adventure group to the gathering. Every jump of fear at the sound of water in the distance attributed to the footwear upon her normally bare feet. It was with mixed focus that occasional small flurries of snow appeared around the pale woman. The flakes quickly melting away shortly after they appeared. Her fingers of her left hand held so tightly to the strap of the pack slung over her shoulder that her knuckles were turning a soft shade of blue. Unlike her companions Emilia did not move herself closer to the edge of the chasm to peer down or to aide in the dropping of items down into the darkness. The healer kept her distance secretly hoping that the boulder being tossed down would squash the beast in one swift death. For now, until given other instructions the Genasi waited back watching with nervous eyes half expecting the chasm to explode with a burst of water from deep in its dark depths. Why couldn’t it be a creature of desert or sky?

Magik :: There was a case of unfortunate timing when it came to this hunt. Magik helped set up the time and location with Meri. He even helped write the letters to the fellow hunters. However, he would not be joining her to help set up the hunting grounds unfortunately. There was business to tend to in his homeland, Sylo Alari, up until the day of the hunt. After the letters were written and rooms reserved for the rest of the party, the elf was on his way back home to handle what had to be handled

Magik :: The early morning hours of the hunt started with Magik in Sylo Alari. By the time the group arrives to the cliffs, Magik was only a minute or two behind. He arrives in his stylish black smoke and materializes just next to Meri. The elf is wearing simple dark clothes, a backpack, and has his longbow in hand. The bow is laid on the ground and his pack is tossed to the side. After a kiss to Meri's cheek he turns his attention to the rest of the party for a mini speech. His tone is firm. Maybe a little too firm given who has joined the couple for this hunt. All of the faces are familiar but given the way the last hunt went, he has to give a short disclaimer. His fiery eyes shift from person to person as he walks around the giant hole and passed everyone. Righty will of course get a..fist bump upon passing the mysterious hand. "The goal is to secure a leviathan spine today and to not die trying to get it. This is not going to be easy. At all." The Lyastri pauses before kicking a few rocks into the dark hole. "-If- possible, the kill needs to come quick. I, for one, don't want to go toe to toe with this thing. It's going to be pissed off if it's not already." He can't believe he has to say these next words but he has to, "And for the love of Daedra, Delisha, Vakamawhatsitcalled, or whatever god you may pray to, do not try to give this thing a hug. You will die." By the time his quick speech is over, he has already made his way back to Meri's side, "Sorry I'm late..Did you go over the plan with them?"

Meri was pleasantly surprised when the members of this hunt turn up and begin assisting with attempting to lure this leviathan out of hiding without even needing instruction. There was Futsuka, who began assisting with chumming up the waters by dumping buckets into the chasm and then Karasu who was using her environment by dumping a large boulder into the void. The psion is impressed, but she doesn’t have the chance to express these sentiments. Emilia’s appearance is not unnoticed, the blonde cannot really fault her for wanting to hang back away from the edge as they were literally trying to summon an oversized watersnake to appear from it’s depths. Someone needed to patch everyone up if things went horribly awry and that someone was Emilia...that is, if the beasty didn’t just swallow them whole. The only one missing was Magik. For a split second, Meri began wondering if his business in his homelands didn’t end up keeping him longer than anticipated. This thought is quickly forgotten as that very tall elf appears right next to her and greets her with a kiss on the cheek, which earns him a very fond smile. A smile that turns into a knowing smirk as Magik does on to give his speech. To answer this question, Meri teases, “Not yet, you beat me to the speech bit.”

This was the perfect lead up for Meri to begin to explain her thoughts on how this could potentially go. Not that she is an expert on leviathan hunting, as the team would soon learn. “I attempted to research the best ways to kill a leviathan, unfortunately there is not much information on it. This is probably because they tend to attack ships that are out at sea and there are often not survivors. As far as I can tell, their attacks are mostly physical. I don’t think that we are going to have to worry about them breathing fire or ice on us like we might if we were fighting a dragon. That being said, leviathans are huge and we absolutely do not want to get in the way of any physical attacks they might unleash on us. They can easily swallow a person whole.” Was Meri’s talk meant to build pep and hype? She was probably failing on that front, but wanted to stress the gravity of their current situation. This was not going to be easy. “Our swords and arrows are probably going to do absolutely nothing to damage the creature. That being said...I brought some other items along with us, that we ought to be quite mindful of when using.” Meri motions to the three oversized slingshots that have their supporting posts dug deep into the ground. “The green glass is full of sedatives. It might be liquid now, but when the glass is shattered and it makes contact with the air it will turn into a gas. The orange glass baubles are full of acid. I am pretty sure that it will eat through scales, but if we can hit the eyes…? That would be amazing. The wooden barrels are full of tar, which is quite sticky and very flammable. I think you all should take a few moments to familiarize yourself and get comfortable with the tension in the slings.” Meri’s gaze shifts from face to face, “Now one major concern I have is that once it is significantly injured, it might swim off and we could lose it forever.” Meri’s gaze settles on Emilia, “Which is where I think you and your ice magic will be particularly useful. Freeze the surrounding water once it appears, hinder its movements, trap it in ice and hopefully prevent any escape. It might be a bit of wait, this is not the most traditional hunt that I have lead. S’all I got really. Questions?”

Meri kept an ear out for any questions that the team might have while she set her sights back down into that void. Was there any movement? It was so hard to tell even if she had dumped orbs meant to help illuminate the dark cavern. With a wrinkle of her nose, Meri flexes her own telekinetic abilities. The water below begins to swirl, slowly at first, until a whirlpool is formed. The only clue as to what might be happening is the fact that the orbs of light are swept up in the circular current. So is Karasu’s very large boulder. If the chum wasn’t appetizing enough to get the beast’s attention, then maybe a whirlpool invading it’s home would do the trick. “Think you can add a few more rocks into the mix?” This comment is made to Karasu, but if anyone else wants to join in...

Futsuka’s tail flickered in annoyance as she scooped the chum into the water, sanguine eyes flickering up to examine her niece as she commanded the arcane energies to assist with her work. Using the back of her hand to scratch the itch on the tip of her nose, she frowns at Karasu before she softly mutters something in her direction. “...I wish you would not use those profane things those mages taught you.” The irony that Futsuka had already benefited from the literacy provided by the mage’s tower, however, escaped her. “G-good idea nonetheless…” The albino feline tiptoes further to the edge to look down, wondering if this disturbance would provoke it.

Taking this moment to gage her allies, Futsuka looks up and gives a soft sigh. Her sobrina Karasu, her old friend Magik, the sandy wolf Meri, and the ice genasi Emilia, if those gathered here could not slay this monster then there were few who could. With a slight smile that she hides before anyone notices, she kicks the remainder of her chum bucket into the crevasse after Karasu’s boulder and turns to address Magik and Meri. “This is sounding as expected,” Futsuka takes a step away from the hole. “Like a snare, we will snap down and bite off the head of snake before it has a chance to kill us. I do not want to get eaten.” Her attention focuses on Magik. “You and me have best aim, no? We shall blind this beast together with our arrows- then we will be safe to attack. With the Ice Genasi keeping it from escaping we can cover it with tar, then you and my sobrina can use your sacrilegious magic to set it aflame.” She pauses to give a serious look to Meri, “You, Sandy Wolf, can you use your strange trick to throw those barrels? I know you have the ability to lift without touching; I saw it myself. I have a feeling we should make full use of it.” This was probably the most Futsuka had said at once in a long time, but it needed to be said.

Karasu keeps her eyes focused on the whirlpool below. As the lights disappear into the depths of the maelstrom, the spellblade can swear she feels the ground shiver beneath her for just a moment. The sensation is quickly interrupted by the jab from her aunt about magic. While her back is to her, Karasu grits her teeth to prevent her asking an incredulous question. “Transmutation is just as tame as natural divination.” She quips under her breath; basic spells in that school were still taking a little more effort than she would like, though she would never admit that to Futsuka. The idea that this sea serpent could possibly be worse than a giant invisible jaguar, two-headed orc, or a megalomaniac cult leader was one that refused to register in the spellblade’s mind. A nod is given to the elf in greeting and acknowledgement after his speech is done. “I like Futsuka’s plan. If you tie the sedative baubles to your arrows and hit it when its maw is open, that might make it a little harder for the thing to breach Emilia’s barrier.”

She takes note of the awkward standing of the ice genasi and stands, moving away from the crater. “Hm.” Garnet eyes peer up at the pale woman in curiosity. She had only seen the woman once before, when Dyraxdiin had taken Karasu into the depths of Emilia’s dreams to awaken her from a slumber. She doubted the Genasi would remember a meeting in a dream, but the demifeline still remarks, “You look much healthier. I’m glad.” A tint of color appears on Karasu’s cheeks before she moves away to look for a good serpent-crushing candidate. “This is good.” The demifeline takes a stance, knees apart and shoulders braced as if preparing for impact. From the nearby forest, the underbrush trembles, quiet at first, but increasing to the roar of a landslide as earth is displaced. The underbrush rises, then is torn away completely, revealing a chunk of limestone that could easily dwarf an owlbear. “Make way, make way!” Karasu calls out. With every step backwards she takes, the limestone seems to follow just as slowly. Beads of sweat form under her impractical bangs as she moves the boulder to the hole. “Okay, THIS should scare it enough to come out. Hey, while you’re grabbing supplies, leave me an acid bauble. I’m gonna drop it; everyone ready?”

Upon confirmation from the adventurers, Karasu relaxes her stance, and the limestone plummets to greet the creature at the bottom of the well.

Emilia could not help but raise a brow as the one she called Egan made his arrival a little later than the three ladies with a warning speech in preparation for the mission the group were about to embark on. Listening, the Genasi blinked as the words “hug it” left the lips of the elf. Did he really want them to hug this giant monster of the deep? Adjusting her focus as Meri took over the female gave a small nod when it was suggested that she prevent a return into the chasm for the monster, “Righty-o, can do. I will work with the ground inside the chasm to layer between rock and ice, this way if it tries to bust through the ice it will have a harder time. I will try not to turn the entire area into a miniature Frostmaw.” Shared with few the wintery lady was also a novice in the art of terramancing.

While keeping her distance from the opening Em lifted a foot up to wiggle her feet free of the boot that prevent her contact with the ground below. It was as the healer was dumping the snow out from within that Karasu had turned attention on her. The healer sadly did not remember her. Moving awkwardly to repeat the same boot removal process of the other foot the female flashed a smile at more stranger than known Karasu, “Oh, thanks…I think” the healer finished with a whisper. Which ailment did she look healthier from? The number of recent incidents that plagued the Genasi were more than a few. Glancing down at herself the healer shrugged to herself before moving to tie her footwear to her pack. Bare feet firmly on the cliff grounds the icy woman slowly made her way closer to opening in the ground, mindful of the moving limestone by the other woman.

Only after the massive chunk was dropped did Emi take a spot away from those gathered on the farther side to begin prepping for when the beast surfaced. Near the wintery lady the surrounding air temperature began to plummet first to a brief fall before quickly reaching frigid winter. It was contained to where the healer stood with careful focus to not turn her companions into frozen statues where they stood. As the chill settled specks of falling snow around the Genasi could be seen along with the formation of ice covering the ground beneath her bare feet. Traveling over a wintery gust of air her voice carried over to Meri, “Ready whenever it decides to appear.”

During this passing time Righty the brave little hand would be flicking any and all rocks that it could over into the chasm whiling being mindful of those gathered.

Magik drops down to a knee near his backpack and starts shifting around in it. First, a quiver is pulled out and strapped to his back. Next, a few mysterious arrows are snagged and placed in the quiver. The elf starts quietly humming to himself after nodding to Futsuka. Finally, the elf grabs his bow then hustles to the farthest side of the large hole to get a clean line of sight of everyone. Ya know, just incase. He focuses on each member carefully. Meri receives a subtle wink. Karasu gets an arched eyebrow. Emilia and Futsuka both get slight smirks. And then there's Righty. Look at him doing his best. What a trooper. After it's obvious what everyone's part is, Magik focuses on where the target should appear. His bow remains low in front of him while his right hand hovers just above the arrow fletchings in the quiver. His fingers start to dance along the arrow ends as he paints a picture in his head of which arrows are sitting where in the quiver. The Lyastri stares at the water as the slab of stone rushes to the water below. "Come on. Give me something here," he quietly says as the limestone rushes towards its new resting place.

Meri could not help but grin over the nickname that Futsuka had coined for her but a more serious nature was quickly adopted, bobbing her head in agreement with both Karasu and Futsuka. The albino feline had a very solid plan of action. With Futsuka’s suggestion in mind, the woman moves away from the gaping hole and toward the centermost pile of barrels so that she could put her telekinetic abilities to good use once the beast they were hunting decided to make an appearance. While Meri moves to her new position, a kiss is quickly blown to Magik in response to his week, then it is back to business for the blonde. Meri’s new vantage point put her well out of the way of the moving chunk of limestone that Karasu drops into the hole. It can be heard connecting with the water with a loud splash but it is silent after that, save for the voices of the hunting party, and would remain so for several long minutes.

After numerous attempts to both bait and agitate the leviathan that the hunting party was hoping still resided within the depth of the underwater cave, signs of the leviathan's presence can finally be heard. A loud and very displeased roar can be heard echoing up from the depths of the cave mixed with the subtle shift in how that telekinetically powered whirlpool that Meri summoned sounds. It would only be seconds after the beast's initial warning that the leviathan could be seen slithering up from the cavernous hole in the ground. The beast they were hunting was a deep shade of blue, so dark that it bordered on black. Its coloring no doubt lended to its ability to blend in with the oceans that it was prone to roaming. Even though the hunting party only has a partial view on the creature, it is likely painfully obvious how such a beast could be responsible for the destruction of any ship that gets in its way. The leviathan was absolutely massive. As the beast emerged, it was making subtle observations of the pesky group of adventurers and the equipment they brought...That is until its gaze falls upon Meri. It might have been many years since Meri and this leviathan had an encounter, but it had not forgotten that this woman was amongst the party that snuck into its den and ripped a tooth straight out of its jaws. All bets are off the moment it takes notice of Meri, the beast is filled with rage and it reacts accordingly. The leviathan is not going to wait for its hunters to make the first offensive, it instead slams the length of its exposed body down against the earth, aiming its massive head straight for Meri. The blonde is able to roll out of the way, only just barely managing to dodge the attack and avoid being crushed to her death. The leviathan does manage to completely annihilate the center catapult, however. This was as much a blessing as it was a curse, for in demolishing the center setup of gear, it also shatters the middle pile of acidic and sedative baubles. While some damage may have already been dealt, it would not be enough to slow the beast yet. The acid was steadily eating away at the leviathan’s scales, but the beast would not let the pain hinder it. It was already lashing out, swinging its massive serpentine body to the left of where it initially crashed, in the general direction of Futsuka and Magik, with the intention of colliding against them with enough force that they would be removed from the fight.

Futsuka was in position next to Magik, bow in hand when her ears flattened back against her head. Her sharp, animalistic senses could feel the subtle rumbling deep underneath them, alerting her a second before the blood-curdling roar emanated from the massive crevice they gathered around. Futsuka reflexively takes a step back as she draws an arrow, her cardinal red eyes momentarily transfixed by the shimmering azure scales of the leviathan that slithered out and towered above them, regarding them as mere pests that had annoyed it. It was simultaneously one of the most beautiful and terrifying creatures the huntress had ever encountered, a true legend of the deep. There is a moment of calm before the storm in Futsuka’s mind where she is able to appreciate the majesty of the leviathan before her... then it recognizes Meri.

As fast as lightning the calm evaporated and the creature struck, things progressing much too quickly for Futsuka to aim and take a proper shot from where she stood. The frantic movements of the beast caused her to drop out of her archery stance and retreat into a run to escape the thrashing motions, her feline speed allowing her to outpace the massive creature as it tried to crush her and Magik. Trusting in the Lyastri’s own ability to evade, the Swiftclaw retreats out of range by herself, digging her heels in the sandy dirt as she pivots and turns back to face the leviathan once more. Taking aim the feline archer inhales, whispering a short prayer to the spirits of light and justice to aid her in this endeavor before she pulls back the string, arrow nocked, and fires. The breath she was holding releases as the arrow flies true, soaring through the air in the direction of the leviathan’s imposing head as a golden trail glitters behind it, divine energies of light building to a crescendo. Before the projectile hits, the arrow explodes into a cone of blinding light, spotlighting the colossal beast’s face and eyes in an attempt to blind it, hoping that a creature of the deep such as it would be vulnerable to such an ability. At the very least Futsuka believes this will create an opening for her allies to take advantage of.

Keeping her one acidic bauble clutched tight in her fist, Karasu is quick to move away from the leviathan’s reign of destruction. Glass and bits of acid splatter against her bushy hair, the only natural protection she has given her light attire. “Son of a--” She curses to herself as she rushes to uncork the bottle. Turning to face the beast, she nearly falters at the unprecedented size. A sharp breath is taken before she continues forward. While the sea serpent is preoccupied swinging its gargantuan body around, Karasu prepares her attack. Her whip sword is drawn, and with a wordless spell, three of the silver-plated steel blade fragments detach from the chain to hover around its master in wait. The sword fragments come together to form a triangle, in which the acid bauble is placed in the middle. Once Futsuka’s arrows have hopefully blinded the creature, Karasu steps forward and whips at the creature’s face with the chain whip. The chains are whipped quickly and at different angles around the face. “Open your mouth, eel roll.” She orders it. Waiting for the creature to cry out in pain, roar in anger, anything that would require it to open its mouth, the tri-blades holding the open acid bauble launch on Karasu’s command, seeking to deposit the acid somewhere inside the creature with tissue soft enough to cause internal bleeding. And the blades? No matter, once Karasu was in a safe enough place, those blades would be sure to tear through muscle and flesh to get back to its home.

Emilia standing as close to the edge of the opening as she dared went crossed eyed with eyes wide at the sudden onslaught of loud noises coming up from the opening as the leviathan made itself visible to the group. Standing opposite the gathered crew the Genasi could only hope that the colossal serpent did not spy her as she readied to seal the chasm shut as her main objective. Her worries about not being single targeted out came true as the monster took to targeting none other than the woman what lead them on this quest, Meri. If they all lived today Emi would have some choice words with the blonde woman about future endeavors of Meri had previously pissed off anything they were after. The Genasi on her side of the fray couldn’t see much of what was happening where the others tussled with the angry head and upper torso of the beast, but she could hear some of the commotion between the leviathan's bellows.

Then the ground around the chasm opening began to shake more as the beast violently thrashed about aiming for the others after missing Meri. The disturbance of the ground knocked the small woman of white off balance onto her rump, sending her sliding back along the frozen ground that she had created. The healer slid until bumping into none other than Righty who would give her a solid shove right back the way she came from before waving a finger at Em like a scolding parent. Across the uce the healer spun in a circle back to where she started and then right over the edge into the pit with the body of the beast. Others might see a flash of white locks beyond the torso of the beast as the Genasi vanished with her startled shrieks being drown out by the thundering roars of the Leviathan or they may see nothing with their own lives at stake and just trust that the healer is on the other side doing her given task and sealing it. A task that Emi would start from below now instead of above.

After a encountering the swirling angry waters below with a few slams into the rock wall the healer was tossed to a jutting of rock far below the beast. As it began to rise the Genasi started to freeze the waters below, slowly. There was her phobia of water that took hold in her pace. Freeze the water before it could whisk her away into the deep blue depths. Focus on the given task… creating a mass of ice that would prevent the leviathan from diving back into the watery depths. As the water froze under her touch it started to rise up ever so slowly, like a popsicle out of a tube, that would eventually not only force the entire length of the beast out into the open, resurface the Genasi, but effectly seal the entire depth of the chasm with the ice.

Magikrios digs his feet into the ground a little deeper as the leviathan introduces himself with his earth shaking grand entrance. He tries to remain cool and steady as long as he can but with the sudden outburst as it recognizes Meri, the elf springs into action immediately. To him, the plan seemed sound and effective. He was secretly hoping to let the party flex their muscles and get the job done quick with minimal effort. He should have known better. Always expect the unexpected, Magik. Queue the wyvern hunt..That's a story for a different time. "Meri, move!" Quite unnecessary because she was already diving out of the way as he yelled towards her. Magik and Futsuka are the obvious next targets. As Futsuka took off in one direction, he takes to the skies just a tad out of the danger zone but in time to get a glimpse of Emilia dropping down into the chasm. "Emilia's going down!" Various arrows of different sizes and shapes rip through the smoke cloud and tear towards the leviathan. One arrow hits the side of the leviathan's neck and drops it towards the earth. A heavy gravity arrow. That should help keep his head in place. The next couple of arrows are aimed to help Karasu with her direct attack. He's careful with his placement since they seem to explode on impact. Magik's already sorry for the bloody mess he's causing for Karasu. As he reaches for another arrow within his cloud, he spots Emilia filling her task. With the body being more exposed, Magik fires off a few more carefully aimed arrows to where the leviathan's organs "should" be if he really had to guess. The arrow aimed for the heart is made from a dense and thick metal that appears to be covered in dozens of tiny holes near its tip. The purpose? To bleed the leviathan out quickly incase the damage to the head doesn't get it done quick enough. Plus it'll help with the mess when it comes time to extract the spine.

While the leviathan was a formidable beast that had both size and strength to its advantage, the team of adventurers were delivering quite the wallop. Each attack was selected with thought and the fact that they were strategizing and working together as a team was starting to bend to their advantage. Magik, Meri and Futsuka are all easily able to evade the attacks that were launched upon them, size and strength did mean that the leviathan had speed to its advantage. It took a lot for a creature of its size to move, especially when it was not in its usual watery element. Futsuka was the one who ends up leading the first wave of attacks on the seabeast, the arrows that she has aimed for the creatures eyes fly true and make their mark. The two archers may not have communicated it, but the timing of their shots works out beautifully. Futsuka is able to blind the leviathan, while Magik’s gravity arrow is able to pin the creature to the earth with the use of his gravity arrow. Of course, his attack does not end there, the Lyastri archer is able to assist one Karasu D’Chath in her endeavors. The next round of arrows that he fires annoy the creature enough that its jaws open so that it can release a frustrated hiss. This gives the feline spellblade the chance that she is looking for to launch the acidic baubles and tri-blades straight into the beast's mouth. Her efforts cause the internal bleeding that she was seeking to cause but her blades will not be quick to return to her, not if they are going to seek to cut themselves out from the inside. The leviathan is blessed with thick scales that serve as armor, making it so that even cutting from the inside out will take time. It’s not an impossible endeavor, it will just not be a swift one. The same logic is applied to the shots that Magik fires to where he believes the internal organs would be, the first couple of arrows imbed into its scales but do not sink deep into the beast's flesh. This trend might have continued but the psionically inclined Meri causes a few more acidic baubles to levitate so that she can slide in with the assist. Those acidic baubles are launched through the air and smash against the thick scales that Magik was firing at. By the time he takes that shot at the heart, the acid has eaten away at the scales making the area all the more vulnerable.

Emilia has not been forgotten while all of this is happening. Meri had heard Magik’s warning that Emilia was going down and she was not about to stay stationary and risk losing a long-time friend. Not on this hunt. Meri has very little clue as to what is happening with the icy woman, just that she disappeared into the chasm, which was not something that they had planned or accounted for. In the midst of the full-blown assault on the leviathan, the lycan woman feels that she has little choice but to rush forward to where she last saw Emilia so that she could investigate and help. By the time Meri gets close to the chasm’s edge, it has already been frozen shut and Meri is left feeling nothing but worry and concern. If the creature’s neck had not been pinned to the earth via Magik’s gravity arrow, Meri probably would have made a swift retreat lest she be crushed but she instead lingers near the sealed chasm to try and figure out a way to get down to Emilia. She would soon realize that she would not have to get to Emilia for the ice genasi soon ended up forcing the rest of the leviathan out of the cave and ended up resurfacing as well in the process. However, the tail end of the beast was not completely trapped in ice, so it whipped and thrashed about in desperation. In an effort to avoid being struck by the tail end of the leviathan, Meri urges the icy woman forward to the neck of the beast since it was currently pinned down by that gravity arrow. Emilia would soon see that considerable damage has already been dealt to the leviathan, it was bleeding profusely and if everyone kept their assault up then they would soon find they were successful in their hunt. If they slowed their attacks? Well a creature of this size would take time to bleed out and die of its current injuries, though that arrow Magik delivered to the heart would at least help speed that process up…

Futsuka has a moment to stand back and witness the orchestra of violence before her after she takes her shot, the light from her arrow doing precisely what she had planned for it and providing the opening for her allies. With a light smile the albino feline relaxes her stance and merely observes the might of those she had chosen to associate with today. In her opinion the Leviathan was already dead; small pricks from her humble longbow would only make a marginal difference in speeding that process up. Instead Futsuka slides her Yumi bow back over her shoulder and unfurrows the jade prayer beads strung around her wrist, clenching them in her hands as she bows her head and whispers a soft intercession. Heeding her pleas, the spirits of benevolence and justice bless her allies on her behalf, a gentle glow of golden light caressing the auras of those brave enough to confront the sea serpent in melee combat and giving them a slight edge of divine protection in the finale of this conflict. Her role as support would be far more useful than getting in the way of the assault, besides if someone were to get hurt she would be there to heal them. That is what she is best at anyway.

The air has become saturated with specks of blood, icy shards, dirt from where the leviathan has upended the terrain, and the salt of the nearby sea. Karasu remains close enough to the leviathan to be pelted with the unholy cocktail as she continues her assault with the sword. Realising that it will take longer than anticipated to get her blades back, Karasu switches tactics. With the aid of Futsuka’s divine magic, the spellblade moves closer. The leviathan’s thrashings increase in pace as it senses her presence drawing nearer. Using the uprooted trees and boulders as stepping stones, Karasu closes in quickly. “Gravitas.” She commands to the elements as she leaps upwards and over the leviathan. The spell takes effect, and Karasu descends faster than any of the party members can blink. Using the heel of her boot, Magikrios’ arrow is shoved completely through the beast’s heart. A crackle of lightning magic jolts through the arrow as a conduit, electrocuting everything in its path from its heart to its lungs. The sea serpent gives another screech, and Karasu quickly dismounts the creature. Her timing is off by just a pinch, as the tail of the creature whips around and collides with the demifeline, sending her crashing into Emilia’s wall of solid ice. Judging from the sounds of angry cursing, it would seem that Karasu is feeling well enough to not be in any imminent danger from her wounds. No matter, she did what she wanted to do.

Emilia missed most of the show happening above ground by her companions and the beast with her clumsy fall into the chasm. The dreaded locks of the healer having been in the water then exposed to her wintery chill froze those locks of hair into one unique new hairstyle. Dreads in all different directions the hair appeared like a little wintery yule tree emerging from the chasm before the face of the Genasi could be spotted by Meri. Stuck in the locks of the healer there was a mess of items ranging from sea creature skeletons to weeds to bits of trash. At least there was a tiny little starfish looking body at the top of the locks. Dead now with the cold the wintery woman leaked. The urging from Meri was not missed as the little woman arrived fully surface side. Offering the blonde her shadowy hand, her warmer hand, to take as a path of ice started to take shape on the ground. If the other took her hand it would be a quick slid across the slick ice toward the head of the beast. A glimpse of Karasu flying past the Genasi would wave a free hand backwards to coat the ice wall in a layer of softer snow. Not enough to make a soft landing, but just enough to break the hit of the woman’s back against a very solid-thick wall of ice.

Magik had already knocked another arrow much like the one that pierced the leviathan's scales at the heart after releasing the first one. He watches the scene unfold, shifting his focus to each of the party members as they do their part. Magik does his best to keep his breathing slow and steady as the leviathan starts to thrash about. The black cloud slowly descends back to the ground to allow Magik to regain his elven form. The Lyastri suddenly focuses on where his blood draining arrow hit and thank goodness for Meri's quick thinking to get that acid on there so it could penetrate those thick scales. He then notices Karasu quickly making her way to kick his arrow deeper in to the sea creature. He releases his last arrow at the right moment to slip that arrow in right next to the first one. It should help speed up the bleeding out process. It might even help Karasu's electrocution a bit too. After his shot, he starts to quickly make his way back around to the majority of the party. He compliments Futsuka's shot upon passing her and says something sarcastic about her being welcome for teaching her how to shoot. Just something to ruffle her feathers/fur a bit for old time's sake. Should the leviathan still be alive by the time he arrives to the other side of the chasm, a dagger is drawn and ready for another stabbing but from a much closer range.

The leviathan was already teetering at death’s door before this last round of attacks began, all the beast needed was one final push before it finally meets its end and stops terrorizing the coasts of both Rynvale and Cenril. It’s likely not evident, as the beast still seems to writhe with signs of life for another minute afterward, but Karasu kicking Magikrios’ arrow further into the leviathan’s heart is what delivers the final blow that will ultimately bring about its death. Everything else is just icing on the cake, so to speak. Meri makes no move to join in on this last round of attacks. Instead, when the beast's snakelike body begins to fall to the earth, the telekinetically inclined woman puts her skills to use by guiding where exactly the beast falls, so that it does not crush any of her companions. She also softens that landing so that the corpse does not hit with a booming thud. Only once Meri is absolutely sure that there are no more signs of life does the blonde lycan exclaim loudly in celebration to her teammates. “Oh heck yes! We absolutely destroyed that beast! And none of us were too badly beaten up in the process!” Maybe a few scrapes here and there, but really…? It could have been a lot worse. “I am sure you are all absolutely beat, so if you want to? There are still rooms being held for you at the Kraken so that you can rest up before heading home. No offense if you do not take me up on the offer.” Meri herself? Well she would not be joining the group on this adventure. First to arrive, last to leave. Processing this very large corpse would take her a significant amount of time, not that she would be doing it alone. She has already employed another team to come help clean up after the fact. The D’Chath household would get a reprieve from Meri’s presence for there is no way that she would be able to see this beast butchered and transported within a day. Or even a week. The group would probably be well on their way home by the time that Meri makes some interesting discoveries within the belly of the beast. Letters would be sent out, except for in the case of Futsuka. Meri would have to get more creative with how to pass the message of the discoveries on to this feline, but at least she would not repeat her initial error and the detail that Futsuka cannot read will finally stick to memory.
