Part of the Souls Out of Time Arc

Location: Beneath the plains of Venturil. (NPC's written by Eirik).

Synopsis: Kybella, Markus and the others keep failing at their ritual. Kybella orders another child down, and Markus discovers intruders!

Kybella hisses a plethora of curses; throwing a tantrum in her possessed childs body! It’s a pile of vile dribble she cast out among the crowd, furious over how the ritual turned out. She can't figure out why it won't work. She casts an irritated glance to Markus, who probably understood her agitation. The pretend child snatches her knotty wooden staff and casts off a furious spell - sending a shower of sparks to incinerate her helper. Who screams in agony at the unprovoked show of near domestic violence. "Bring the other down!" She insisted upon using their last captured child. "And throw this one in the cell next to her!"

Markus keeps a watchful eye on his Matron. Since turning into a child, she had grown in ability and temper. The mage still found it odd to watch something so small smite those around with such reckless abandon. She didn't care if she killed them all. Nor did he for that matter. "I'll see to it mistress." Markus turns to snatch the lifeless body and drag it upstairs. Such a temper, he almost mutters to himself.

The rest of the room falls silent in the wake of her seething animosity. Who would dare question her authority now? All believed that she would die soon, and yet, she had discovered a way to live on. Even if she is a parasite hosted by a child. From time to time they caught the battle of wills, clearly written upon Kybella's visage. The child fought to escape her grasp, but did not have the power to cast the witch out.

Kybella smacks her lips once at her seconds words. Childish hands raise, and smooth back her newfound blond hair. A devilish grin streaks across her face. "The rest of you, prepare for the next ritual." She gives a half cursty to Markus and returns her attention to the group. "Now!" She spoke with an air of authority. She wouldn't be second guessed. Not now, certainly not ever. Master needed the chaos and she is all -too- willing to oblige.

Markus pays no heed to the Mistress and her antics as he moves about his duties. Upon reaching their haphazardly created prison he tosses the carcass into the room. Near a child named Rachel. She had beaten. Brutally. Proven to be resistant to the ritual Kybella seemed to want to attempt, yet again. What would make this time any different? So instead, they had marked the child, with a spirit most foul. Its something to break her will, to win her over. To force her into submission. Markus reaches for the child and comes to a sudden stop. The wards of the building crying out to him. There is an intruder! Instead, he twists from Rachel. "Perhaps tomorrow child." The mage chuckles as he steps out from the cell. He takes note of the mages standing guard, and wordlessly heads down the hallway; to warn the others! Interlopers had arrived!

The coven begins to clear the circle and relight the candles once used. They didn't know why the ritual didn't work. Nor did they understand why Kybella sought to keep attempting. It had only worked once and now she has killed four other members. How many more would she take? They all seemed agitated, clearly with their own right. A new bowl of herbs is brought to Kybella whilst the others go about their work.

Kybella says, "Good, I'll need these." But beyond those words uttered, she does nothing. Content to watch her worker bees move about the room and prepare. She knew Markus would be back soon. Red eyes twist to the fourth member she had killed, knowing the others must be growing tired of this. Such a waste of talent. A waste of an eager follower. More and more were beginning to be less willing. Perhaps that was the issue?

Markus enters the room in a bit of a hurry, nearly tripping over his own robes, which hang down much too far. "Mistress Kybella! There are intruders!" He screamed as he finally made his way to her. "I don't know how many, nor do I know what they want." He could hear the magical alarms blaring into his ears. He knew she couldn't feel it anymore. Her new host hadn't been attuned yet. "We must prepare!"

The coven stops, and waits for their orders.

Kybella twists those red eyes to Markus, in disbelief. "Seize them," her only response to his statement.
