Part of the The Ice Plague Cometh Arc

Eliason, once released, lowers himself into a sitting position in the sand. His eyes seek out the horizon, seeking the calmness that the sight provides. "I don't even know where to begin... You know of the troubles from the other day. And that's the least of it. Now Vehara is upset, the girl you met the other day is upset... And amidst all of this, I'm being dispatched to lead a garrison to Frostmaw to help deal with some trouble up there." He turns his eyes finally toward her. "You remember how I asked you to help me be comfortable around women? The next time I ask such a thing, just slap me!"

Raphaline takes a seat right across from him, brow raised in interest. "Maybe this time away is a blessing in disguise, love. It will give everyone a chance to think." She thinks over the other women, "Well, the other girl seemed quite happy last I saw her, as for Vehara, well." She shrugs, "What is happening in Frostmaw?"

Eliason waves a hand and meets the bard's eyes. "Perhaps... That is if I make it back. I think there is a great evil rising in Frostmaw, I leave tonight to warn the queen." His fingers dig into the sand. "She was happy until this morning when I told her that I was going. Now she's upset that I don't want her to go with me... I believe it is too dangerous."

Raphaline gives the legionnaire a rather confused look, "Your words shouldn't be able to dissuade her so easily. If the person I loved was leaving to fight, hell's fire couldn't tell me no." She gives a simple shrug, as if that is the easiest way to put it. "Now you have me extremely intrigued. What kind of evil is this?"

Eliason sighs, once again lifting those large shoulders in a shrug. "Love... I can see now why it is forbidden for Guards to court where I come from." Leaving that enigmatic statement lying in the air, he turns to her next question. "I've been having dreams of an evil arising in Frostmaw. Our ambassador there has reported strange happenings with the queen and her guards. I think it's time for me to go to her and tell her of my visions. Perhaps we can be of help in this situation."

Raphaline laughs, in a way its a mocking huff of a sound. "Love is a nonsense emotion that gets us all into trouble at some point." Waving that off with a gesture of her hand. "Visions huh? When are you leaving to go?" Her voices takes on a tone far from concern and now more of intrigue; the bard did love a good fight and adventure.

Eliason looks toward the town, gauging the slant of the sun's light against the buildings in town. "I'd say within the next few hours. Orders were to set out when the sun is off of the Manor House." His eyes turn back to the bard, catching her look of intrigue. "Oh, no... Not you too!"

Raphaline crosses her arms and huffs in that stubborn manner only the bard could conjure. "And why the hell not? Don't think I know how to fight,?" She makes a pfft kind of sound.

Eliason sighs and shakes his head. "I'm sure you can fight just fine. I just don't know what sort of thing we'll be facing..." He impulsively leans forward and takes her hands. "You've been a good friend to me through everything. After everything I've said, the fool that I've made of myself... I worry about those that I care for."

Raphaline pulls a hand out from between his and places it on top of his. "And I think you should allow for your friends to help you. Well allow, or accept the fact that I am going to help you whether you like or not." She beams and grins, determined to go. "We can fight the good fight together."

Eliason looks down at her hand upon his, shaking his head in resignation. "I don't suppose that there is any way I can talk you out of this, is there?" His eyes meet hers, knowing the answer before she has even spoken. "Will you promise me one thing?"

Raphaline shakes her head, "And if it is don't do anything stupid well..." She smirks, "Can't promise that."

Eliason offers a wry laugh in response, shaking his own head in return. He offers her hand a light squeeze. "I hadn't even considered asking that..." His face grows serious. "I don't want Julia to go. I can't protect her and I would be distracted in battle thinking of doing so. She's not a fighter... Promise me, if you see her, to try to convince her to stay."

Raphaline cants her head to the side, "You mean Joss right?" She assumed the woman had many pseudo names as well. "I will try my best to convince her that she is best suited to stay put. And not get you killed by distracting of course."

Eliason slips his hands from Raphaline's and pushes himself to his feet. "Yes, sorry. I usually refer to her by her stage name." Reaching down, he offers her a hand to help her stand. "That sounds good, thank you. We are meeting at the entrance to Chartsend in two hours. If you'd like to travel with us, you will be welcome." Of course, the Legion is meeting at the western coastal road in one hour, but a man can be forgiven for trying to protect his friends, right? Unfortunately, Eli is a terrible liar.

Raphaline gives him a look, "I am not leaving your side until we depart. Don't want to risk you trying to shirk me off between now and departure." She was clever, and whether or not she suspected he might try and convince her otherwise, she was much too keen on going.

Eliason clenches his jaw, grinding his teeth together in frustration. "Well, I have to bathe before I put my armor on, so... I guess you're going to have to leave my side for a little bit anyway." Briefly, he considers using this time to slip out of the back door, but he doubts the bard will fall for such simple trickery. "Unless, of course, you're planning on making sure I wash properly too." Once he says this, he immediately hopes that it didn't come across rude. He has no desire to offend Raphaline, but his sanity seems to be coming to its frayed end.
