RP:Aftermath Amid the Snowfall

Part of the The Ice Plague Cometh Arc

Among the Snow and Debris

Satoshi stirs, the snow burying her crumbling away with the movement so that the magus' vulpine ears are exposed to the winds. With a groaning yawn, she sits up, sending further frost falling away as Satoshi blinks bleary eyes. A slow moment is spent testing the mobility of her limbs before Satoshi nods. Her joints are still heavy and stiff, but it is the leaden weight of exhaustion rather than injury, for being blanketed in snow has served to mend the eidolon's battered form. Content in this, knowing her energy will restore itself over time, Satoshi takes another moment then to shoo away the frost clinging to Kasyr with a word. Like so many crystalline spiders, the snows retreat, giving the magus ample room to nestle up closer to the revenant while replaying their earlier confrontation in her mind again. Muffled by a face half-buried in her folded arms, Satoshi mutters to Kasyr, "You ass. I thought I lost you." For good measure, a finger is used to jab the kensai's forehead.

Kasyr s' eyes gradually open following the jab, if only to come to focus upon the digit used in the endeavour. No contradiction is offered to her statement, the revenant merely biding his time for a few moments before he playfully nips at the tip of her finger, a muted smile following shortly thereafter, "I think, by this point, its been just about proven that you're stuck with me." And then he simply closes his eyes again, content to indulge himself in the simple leisure of being able enjoy an undisputed sense of awareness, alongside the more primal pleasure derived from the sheer proximity of the magus' chill form.

Satoshi answers the kensai's nip with a light flick to the end of his nose. "Hah~. You bit me far worse than that earlier." In emphasis, Satoshi's left hand's knuckles knock against her right shoulder, producing a musical 'thunk' from beneath the torn fabric. "I guess the solid ice comes in handy, hm?" Although her voice makes light of the situation, Satoshi's expression is still somber and a hint anxious as she looks over the revenant. He seems intact, physically and mentally, but when it comes to Kasyr, Satoshi is always as worried about him as she is confident in his ability to defy all odds. It makes for a conflicted wife.

Kasyr can't help but grimace slightly, one eye cracking open so that he can peer at Satoshi- as though searching for something in her expression. Whether it's the lack of reproachfulness, or the grim concern, it's enough to make the revenants expression yet more dire, a carefully voiced, "It would have been far preferable if it hadn't needed to do so, cherie." And then the Kensai simply tilts his head back, staring up at the sky- his expression one that is practically lost. "Thank you, though. For staying with moi, et all." His voice shifts, as though he wanted to say more, or something else- but he ultimately falls quiet again.

Satoshi's ears don't miss the shift in Kasyr's voice, and it has her leaning forward expectantly. With her face and cascade of hair over the revenant's face to block the view of the sky, Satoshi peers down at him unblinkingly. "I promised I would." Years ago, on a bench in Vailkrin Plaza, to that monk of Aramoth who'd said she was unlikely to possess the ability to commit after meeting the calico'd tiefling. She'd promised, to him and herself, then that she'd be the epitome of loyal to Kasyr. She intended to then , and still does now, to stick as closely to the kensai as whiskers on a cat. "...and what were you going to say?"

Kasyr regards Satoshi gravely, before he subtly begins to shake his head, "J'en sais pas, en verite. There..is a lot, about all of this, that I don't know." The revenants jaw clenches slightly, before he continues speaking, "That I'd like to know." A cursory glance to his surroundings coaxes one last amendment from the Kensai, a dully spoken "Need to know, en fait." And then he turns his attention back to her, pressing his forehead against Satoshis' for the simple comfort of her proximity, "...I'm grateful for everything you do for moi, you know."

Satoshi said to Kasyr, "Then we'll just have to find the answers, won't we? The war may be over, but there is still much work to do, for both of us. You just tell me which direction you need to go, I'll be right behind you~. And this ti--" Satoshi doesn't get to finish her thought, cut off by a monstrous yawn that has her sitting back with a thunk. Hurriedly, the magus rubs her face and gives a shake of her head, trying to ward off further yawn-ish attacks so that she can resume, "Ahem. As I was saying: and this time, I'll know what I'm doing, should it happen again. Although... how did it happen in the first place? I only remember feeling this tugging sensation at the back of my mind. It was so irresistible, because it was as angry and bloodthirsty as I was. I'd been so tangled up with Asorial, just wanting to tear through every soul on the battlefield with tooth and claw, and the next thing I knew, I had my fangs in its... in your throat. All I could think about was wanting to kill you."

Kasyr allows himself a wry grin, and a nudge to the Magus' side when she yawns- though his antics are otherwise kept to a minimum. Really, it's her queries that arrest most of his attention, as they underline much the same thoughts that have pre-occupied him since awareness has returned to him. ~Why~ "I'm...not sure. Though I feel like it's nearly happened before. Like it's a threshold I'd been on the brink of in the past." The kensai brings one of his hands up to his hair, if only to slowly drag it through. "More than once...j'pense."

Satoshi responds to the kensai's nudge by leaning sideways and flopping atop him, casual as if he were just another pillow on a couch back home. His words, however, bring a halt to the magus sticking her tongue out childishly, her expression taking on a more serious arrangement. "You mean like when I found you in that cave by Vailkrin's bridge? You were rather toothy then. And you... -felt- different. But you recognized me."

Kasyr tugs on his hair a bit, his mind flickering back to those memories. It's only after a few long moments are spent contemplating that he offers the magus a ponderous, "...No." And then the revenant's features harden, his words coming out with ired deliberation, "Gospel had been there, too. But no." That damnable serpent had been meddling quite a bit, lately. But that was a different matter to attend to, something else. ..Was it? Kasyr, just briefly, looks uncertain, before he simply shakes his head. " Nor do I believe that this was Ahkall, either." Entirely..or directly, at least. The wyrm was talkative, and has manifestation had been different. The kensai bites down on his lips, some sense of recollection tugging upon his psyche, "... It was like during the fight with the dragon during the Civil War. Like near the end of that mess with the 'tear' in Vailkrin. -I- took hold of something in those moments. I grabbed it, harnessed it...et I think this time, it took hold of me."

Satoshi's ears fold back as she listens silently. She does not like what Kasyr is saying, although that hardly changes the fact that they're true, and happened. When the revenant trails off, he'll find the magus' hands clinging to him, as if afraid something else would try to pull him from her hold. "I didn't think I'd ever say this but... I'm glad you have Empera." And she Ko'tar, the sword having lent its voice and strength to her. Perhaps Satoshi owes it thank you, and maybe, just maybe, an apology too. "f you insist on digging further into this something you grabbed, perhaps you should do so when I'm around? Svilfon too? At worst, we can drag you back out of it. We may also be able to figure it out, with more than one arcane-trained mind bent to the task. He is the Sublime Master now, after all." There are few in the realm Satoshi's vanity lets her think are superior in any way, however, she's long been willing to tip her hat with all due respect to Svilfon, Tiphareth, and Rheven for their skills in the arcane. And with the wizard part of the family, Satoshi would never hesitate to call on him.

Kasyr gives Satoshi a look that at first seems to vacillate between amusement & affection, before it segues into one of simple unadulterated trust. "I'll try not to get in over my head before we can properly figure this out. " His hands move to overlap her hands then, and give them a slight squeeze, " Or, at least have one of tu on hand. I'm sure you'll meet with him again soon enough, so peut-etre you can even give him a heads up on the situation." Kasyr's brand of politics, and problem-solving, does tend to land him in a fair bit of hot water, after all.

Satoshi finds herself yawning again despite her best efforts and undivided attention, and so her response to the revenant is an awkward nodding and a half-squeak at her words being cut off. Wearily, the magus' head droops to rest atop Kasyr's hands where they overlap her own, leveling a tilted look on him. "We get ourselves out of impossible messes frequently. We'll sort this one out too. Just--" another yawn, and a huff of frustration, "just don't go trying to do it alone, hm? Or so help me, I'll chain our tails so I go where you go. If Hildegarde can keep up with me, I can certainly keep up with -you-~. ...Oh, speaking of her." Satoshi glances halfheartedly to either side, expecting the dutiful knight to suddenly appear. But all that surrounds the pair are the magus' swarm of tails, and snow as far as the eye can see. "Think we can manage our way back home? She threatened to come looking for me, if I was gone too long. Dragon is as stubborn as Tharn." Despite it being worded like a complaint, there's a hefty degree of fondness in Satoshi's remark.

Kasyr finds the yawning rather infectious...or maybe he's still just a touch worn out from the ordeal he just went through. Whatever the case, he simply wriggles in place, but otherwise makes no real motion to move, "Later, sure. I think we're fine to recuperate for a little bit longer- unless you're in that much of a hurry to avoid having her hunt tu down." The revenant pauses then, before offering her a serious look, "I will try et avoid being a handful, however. ..More of one, anyways."

Satoshi is not afraid of anyone hunting her down, either out of good intentions or ill, and radiates offense at the very idea--even her ears, which had been drooping stand up to show they're affronted. Although, for an empath like Kasyr, it's easy enough to know Satoshi's appearance of being offended is entirely for show, for a smile flickers onto her face seconds later as she tips forward to press a kiss to the revenant's forehead. "We'll rest. But only if you stop considering yourself a handful. 'Trouble et fun', remember~? That's the name of our game, I wouldn't have it any other way." It's with this, and a firm nod, that Satoshi coils up nearer the kensai, making herself comfortable as her tails serve as a furry blanket of sorts for them both.
