The Kelay Tavern

Ranok said, "Dere vas zumddink on de board hyu hed vritten. Zumddink about important dat hyu hed to tell de leaders uf de vorld. Vat vas it?"

Ocano looks up from his drink, having been addressed by a nearby gentleman. Blinking for a moment, trying to decipher the man's accent. "Oh! Yes. Well, umm.." He scratched the back of his head nervously. "Who are you, sorry?"

Ranok quirks his brow, "Do hyu not recall? Ve met ven hyu first kame to de lunds. Hy vas de vun dat suggested hyu seek out Lady Eilyo."

Ocano frowns, struggling to remember, "You'll have to forgive me. I've been through a lot these last few weeks. I do apologize." He gestures to a nearby seat, "Have a seat... err.. I'm sorry; I don't think I caught your name last time?"

Ranok sits at Ocano's table. "Krin. Kall me Krin."

Ocano smiles, nodding, "Pleasure. You must know my name then, already." He paused for a moment, going back to the initial conversation. "Well. Are you of royal connection?"

Ranok shakes his head, "Not schtrictly, no. But vat nevs dat vould only touch royals? Such scales uf fate schould be told to hall men, not chust de royals. De pipple uf Kelay deserff to know der lives are in danger as much as de ruler."

Ocano shakes his head, smiling in a diplomatic manner, "No-one is in any danger. And besides," He takes a sip, shrugging, "I'm going by orders. I was told to contact these people specifically." He paused again, bringing a finger thoughtfully to his mouth, "Although... I guess it couldn't hurt to tell some people... Would make my life easier..." He stops himself, the image of two green pin-pricks burning their way into his mind. "Ah, I do remember over-hearing a conversation actually. You're a member of the Fold, aren't you?"

Ranok scrutinizes Ocano for a moment, then nods slowly, "Yah. Hy em."

Ocano nods. "Sorry. You hear a lot in this tavern." Smiling, unsure of where to go from here. "Yes. Well. The people will hear in due time. To be honest... " The bard stifles a giggle, "Those that truly want to know will find anyway! I did." He glances over to one of the empty chairs in the corner, before drinking again.

Ranok thins his eyes. He leans a little closer to Ocano, and his tone is dangerous, "So dis shetterinkly important information iz to be kept secret, vere de fate uf men und mhenny potentially hengs in de balance, und hyu tell me 'Hy'll find out'."

Ocano leans back, frowning a little in confusion. "Calm down." He held the last word a little, giving it a little vibrato. From the music, he began to weave a subtle magic. Barely detectable above background magic, he began to put in motion an enchantment to calm those that hear it. Useful with a tough crowd. "There is no danger. Do I look dangerous? A curiosity that's all, I guess."

Ranok feels the energies of something. The outside forces that press upon the mind with their suggestions could be felt, if you knew what to look for. Ranok did. And he was on the alert for it, given that telepathic and 'mancies run rampant around there. In a liquid, unfurling motion, the man strikes out. Luckily for Ocano, it was a warning. A very sharp dagger sinks into the table, thudding and biting deep. Ranok's words drip malice. "Hyu vill schtop vatever it iz dat hyu are doink, or suffer de konseqvences. If Hy vanted hyu dead, hyu'd be bleedink by now. Vun varnink iz hall hyu get. Use. It." A fair guess, given the circumstances, and the fact that all others present in the room lacked the abilities to do any sort of subtle suggestion. Ranok was very much not a fan of being told what to do, or having his mind read. "Hy'm villink to discuss dis like a gentleman. Now, Hy suggest dat HYU act like a gentleman before my temper schnaps."

Ocano jumps, breaking the spell, the energy seeping away like water down a sink. Gulping, he makes a point of taking his hands off the table. "With all due respect sir, you've given me very little to be civil about. You've come to me and threatened me over an unknown subject - which, I might add, is not your business. I've told you it's nothing to worry about." He picks the dagger from the table, laying it down on its side. "Now, if you're done acting like a child sir, I would like an apology. -Then- I may reconsider." He lifts his head up. "I don't respond to violence."

Ranok had kept his hold on the dagger. It was part of the mechanism around his wrist, so it was important to recover. "No. Vat Hy deed vas kome to hyu vith a qvestion und vas refused vith zum namby pamby bull. Vich vas fine. Vat vas NOT fine iz de immediate reaction uf hyu to attempt to svay me vith vatever magic hyu tought vas a goot idea. Hallow me vun vord uf advice: no NOT attempt to ever force me to do hennyddink. Ever." Thus delivered, and his point made, the sharp instrument was yanked out of the table with a slight pop. It was subsequently clicked into the mechanism on his right wrist again. Clicking accompanied the action. "Now. To resume our previous konversation, before tinks vent so south. If de rulers uf de lund hef to be involved, de information iz important. Hy might not be royalty. But Hy represent vun uf de only factions present for de defence uf Rynvale. If dere's a treat to de pipple Hy'm layink my life down to proteck, Hy need to know it. So Hy vill ask politely. Vat iz so important a message dat hyu must deliver?"

Ocano rolls his eyes, trying to appear calm, despite the fact his heart was still pounding. Adjusting in his seat, he puts on a smile again. "It was an aggressive situation. Excuse me for trying to relax. I'm sorry that offended you." He bowed his head as he said this, with some genuine respect. "It's no threat to anyone. Well. Only if.. well. nothing." He coughs; aware this wasn't helping the situation. Leaning towards the man, he smiles. "If you want to know, I will tell you..." at this point, his voice lowers into a whisper.”... The Oracle awakens."

Ranok seemed utterly calm, in a juxtaposition of Ocano's near panic. The dagger that had emanated from his wrist thus taken care of, he regards Ocano, and by extension, his words with cool pose. When the whisper was delivered to him, the fact that had Ocano so secretive, the man's brow furrows. A hand rubs his chin, going over the Billy May's style beard he had there, and the white, jagged scar that ran diagonal across his face from left temple to right jaw the only mar going through the trimmed perfection that was his beard. The rest of his face was much less perfect, but the beard was top quality. "Vat doze dat mean?" His grey eyed gaze was fully on Ocano, and seemed to flicker, his eyes going from light to dark, then back again. But, surely, that must be a trick of the light?

Ocano leans back, having delivered his message. The mischievous smile still playing about the elf's lips. Having calmed the situation, he begins to relax again. He starts to hum, leaning back. "It means... Well. It means that every question has an answer." He pauses a little, perhaps for dramatic effect, but more so whilst he tried to work out what to say. "And those that ask the right questions will reap the rewards." The bard didn't notice the human's eyes, his own vision slightly blurred by inebriation.

Ranok lets out an exhale. A little frustrated, he tries to pry more answers out of Ocano, "Hokay. Yah. Hall qvestions hef ansvers. Vere vould Hy find de ansvers to dis Oracle?"

Ocano frowns, flapping his hand as if to try and catch the man's words before they escaped into the air. "I don't know. Those that seek will find. I know no more than that."

Ranok taps his finger on the table. A glance around the room. Then back to Ocano. In the meantime, the man's duster had taken to doing the thing where it billows in a breeze that only exists for it. It was becoming livelier by the day. "Seek vere? Hyu seem to be de only vun dat knows hennyddink uf dis oracle. Set me on de path. De vorld iz big, Ocano. Hy know dis betta den hennyone else."

Ocano frowns again, with more flapping. "Shh." He looks around too, hoping the other patrons were too wrapped up to care. "I don't know." His face was serious, the elf done with games for the night. "It was like a trance. It spoke to me in my head. I saw..." He screws his face up, trying to remember. "Green lights. There were green lights. Over there." He gestures towards a chair in an empty corner of the room. "I'm not crazy." He added, for clarification.

Ranok grumbles, "Zum important und klear information dis iz turnink out to be. If Hy hedn' seen dem, as vell, Hy vould hef been inclined to dismiss hyu. Hokay. Dese...visions. Do hyu schtill hef dem? How freqvently? Iz dere henny korrelation betveen ven hyu hef dem und actions gun on in de room?"

Ocano shrugs slightly. "I'm only a messenger." He attempts to control his breathing, feeling nervous again. "It's only been the once. I was sat here, having lunch and I saw this hand reach out for me. Next thing I know, I'm staring up at a pile of bones and this voice is in my head."

Ranok hrmpfs. "Hy see."

Ocano crosses his arms, leaning back. "Bet you feel silly threatening a citizen just for that, huh?"

Ranok lifts up an eyebrow at Ocano, "Threatened? No, do not be silly. Hy do not threaten. Hy merely enlighten to de repercussions uf kertain actions. De information hyu've provided iz...less useful den originally tought. Hy kan only imagine vat de rulers dat hyu've managed to talk to hef saeed."

Ocano huffs himself now, chewing at a finger nail. He remains silent for now.

Ranok grunts, "Very vell. If dat iz hall hyu hef to shere. If hyu gain henny more information, do shere. Hy'd hete to hef dis sort uf...intense discussion vith hyu again." He stands, going to his full height of seven feet. He might have loomed more than usual, over Ocano, just to illustrate his point. Barring anything else, he would make his way out of the tavern without even a single word of farewell. Boots making little noise on the floor, even despite the man's large frame, and the duster billowing out behind him like a thing alive.

Ocano said to himself. "Thanks... fer nuttin..."
