RP:A Healer's Recruitment Task

From HollowWiki

This is a Healer's Guild RP.

Synopsis: The Healer's Guild is opening up it's old doors on the Guild Avenue for new faces to join the ranks. These new members have a test in order to gain trust within the halls, heal the patient profile card that is given. Members are split up into groups to complete the tasks and work together, but two more healers towards the end come out of the shadows and are able to demonstrate their content knowledge, as well.

Penelope (1 of 3):: Throughout portions of Lithrydel, crises had kept breaking out, whether it was Frostmaw’s great battle against Xicotl or the plague that swarmed by the seaside of Cenril. Medical attention was much needed in these current days to come, and the open Healer’s Guild day was here to find new faces. There, however, was an initiation that came with every trusted healer that walked foot through the guild halls that seemed to be under construction as members would walk in. Bricks and tools scattered about the way. Caution zones as constructors worked to build new offices and expand the building, as there was a necessity for space. “Now, now, don’t fret. You’ve got the right location! We’re expanding, so the members of the Healer’s Guild have wide halls and come back to the original roots of the Avenue,” Finn Fennigan, a long-time-member and well-educated healer, would greet and show those entering for the way to the meeting room. The Avenue of Guilds was what he spoke of. The original standpoint where the Healer’s Guild began.

Penelope (2 of 3):: Upon entering the meeting room, it would remain the same as it used to be, as this was a room that required reconstruction. There, however, remained the rather large table in the center of the meeting room. Chairs were taken away, though, to create space for those to join and mingle with one another upon first entering. On the large table in the center of the room, there rested a plethora of different herbs, bandages, healing crystals, potions, salves, tools, and much more. All items were neatly placed for view. If one was unsure of whether or not they would like to join the recruitment part of the Healer’s Guild, they would be offered pamphlets by other master healers or mentors swarming the area to get more information about the guild. Off to another side of the room where most people were talking to each other, would be a station where a hospitable member would be serving tea and little dainty appetizers: cucumber sandwiches, cakes, cut up vegetables, and a variety of fruits. The serving station was decorated with green, patterned, silken cloth and vases full of vibrant flowers. A great warm welcoming corner to find some zen and talk to a new friendly face.

Penelope (3 of 3):: Penelope rocked on her heels patiently as guests and new interested members moved into the meeting room. Current members of the guild would understand that there would be an important “meeting” today with new faces to assist. Surely they got the blast about the news. As one of the healers that was more mastered, it was important to be a greeter. The occasional wave, a “hello”, a nod, or an overly big smile was given to people passing through. Velvet brown leggings and a long cream, linen tunic flowed loosely about her small frame. Simple leather brown, chunky-soled loafers were wrapped around her feet for quicker paced movement. A shuffler she was. When faces would pass by that she would recognize, she would automatically light up. “Hi! Welcome! Go ahead and grab a refreshment, if you would like. Feel free to browse and mingle a bit before we get started on why we’re here today.”

Kailani slips quietly into the building and lingers in the back for a moment so that she can take a second to take in all of the faces and mentally prep herself for being social. Not that remaining toward the back of the room afforded the blue-haired druid any escape from notice, it tended to be hard to not take not of her vibrant hair color the moment she entered the room. Kailani is not traveling alone, dangling over her shoulder is a very young blue dragon. He was probably too big to keep hanging on her shoulder, but the druid did not seem to mind even if his talons did occasionally dig into the black leathers of her armor. Clutched closely to her chest is something that is wrapped in tanned leather. The exact object is meant to remain unseen to everyone but Penelope, but the druidic half-elf has been to enough of these things that she knows better to try and swarm Penelope first thing. After lingering awkwardly near the entrance, Kai opts to step quietly though the room toward the tables of potions, crystals, and salves. Kai would take the time to browse these wares while she waits for things to get underway.

Loravelle probably shouldn't have drank so much the night before, but what's a girl to do when someone, especially if that someone is her fiance, hands her a glass of coconut rum and refills it without asking? Decline? Absolutely not. She's nursing a hangover with sips from the waterskin she's brought along with her and can be seen occasionally kneading her temple with the heel of her hand. Maybe food would do her some good. Just a little. To say she felt timid and out a little out of place was an understatement, but time on the island has taught her how to be a little more social. Before heading for the refreshments station, Lora waves at one of the folks greeting others, Penelope. Spying an orange, she immediately grabs for it and after partially peeling it, she pops a segment into her mouth.

Joan had come slightly before the Rynvale group, she felt it was best to help set up and mingle with her fellow healers to let them know she was still about and active, just hidden away at the Chapel of Rest she partly worked and studied at. She’d offer a wave of greeting towards Leoxander, Lita, and Loravelle once the group appears. She’d look about for Zahrani also, but didn’t spot the feline yet.

Thamalys stood right at the far end of the table, presently intent to sort some ten different varieties of sage in a chromatically pleasing fashion whilst trying his very best to welcome the rather diverse group streaming through the hall. The Blue was clad in a deceptively simple cloak, mostly white from a distance, and yet carefully embroidered with elaborate, if impossibly small, silvery patterns of stars and flames. Endless streams of dark ink, mostly in the shapes of vines and thorns, run below his skin, an ominous dance he had little control upon. The lanky shape of Stain, the cursed blade, swayed at his right sight. For the occasion, the Blue had collected the knotty mess of his ivory dreadlocks into a comically large bun, sitting awkwardly at the top of his head. Nebb, his equally winged companion, was perched upon his right shoulder, strangely silent – if positively curious, particularly about the rather unexpected presence of the small dragon accompanying the blue-haired Druid. Good thing that, in a dark alcove of the Healer’s tormented mind, Korkhoran, the Ancient Black, slept.

Aureus stealthily snatches another cookie, casting furtive glances around, hoping to remain undetected in his indulgence. He takes a bite of the cookie, savoring it with exaggerated gusto. As he chews, the sound reverberates through the room, causing heads to turn and eyebrows to raise in surprise. Unfazed by the attention, Aureus flashes a mischievous grin, relishing the momentary confusion and adding a touch of comedic flair to his cookie-eating escapade.

Lita is fashionably late, per usual and sticks to the back of the crowd gathered as they're ushered into the guild hall. Minding construction zones with bare feet, she rubs a lack of sleep from her eyes, pausing long enough as she passes through the little crowd to peruse the instruments assembled on the table at the center of the room. Most of which she has no idea what they are or what they're for. She hesitantly reaches out towards the handle of a long, thin metal piece that looks more like a torture device than anything for healing, and she thinks better of touching it after all. She wrinkles her nose at it and turns to hunt down a Mouse instead. Of course she has snacks. She sidesteps to where Loravelle is and leans sideways to munch a piece of orange from her fingers without asking. She makes a face at the taste but will finish it anyway. Joan gets a brief nod in greeting as Lita wonders if Lora's got that trusty flask on hand.

Leoxander was a familiar face to some of those healers but he wasn’t a healer, himself. He was there as an escort, or security guard, for three women who needed no such thing, overseeing the gathering as he trailed behind the trio. Plans were made and put into effect to head toward the well-doers gathering in Loravelle, Lita and Joan’s posse, features hidden behind his face mask wrapping but hood drawn to reveal the familiar tousle of blonde veiling blue eyes. Eyes drawn almost immediately toward Kailani despite Nel and Finn’s greetings. The rogue was definitely out of place there but he’d be hard pressed to fit in anywhere but a ship deck, to be honest. Ink and scars covered for now as not to draw any attention from the many healers piled together within the guild hall. His jaw lifted to Joan, along with any others he knew that might catch a glance his way and recognize him, but otherwise he found a good spot against a wall to comfortably fold his arms and observe.

Kanna peeks out from the doors to the Bard's Guild just directly across from the Healer's Guild to see the wave of people coming in. While she has been helping the guild caretaker identify the locations of lost items and asking adventurers she knows for their assistance, she has sort of set up residence in the Avenue of the Guilds. It is a welcome distraction from the fact that the bardess has no place to call home once more, but feels tied to these lands now. Today she wears a simple pale blue tunic with embroidered daisies along the neckline and edges of the puffed sleeves, along with a deep brown skirt. When there is a lull, Kanna hums excitedly and skips across the hall to peer inside. To her surprise, she comes face to face with Finn Fennigan, who greets her and ushers her further in towards the meeting room. "Oh-- I'm not--" Kanna tries to figure out how to say that she was just being nosy, but before she does think of the right words, she finds herself whisked away to the meeting hall. "Oh!" They had cakes. The bardess is locked on target. She takes a small plate and piles one, two, three finger-sized slices of strawberry champagne cake, and finds an empty seat. Well, she might as well stick around and see what the 'real' healers are up to, she figures, not really counting herself as one just yet.

Kailani was happy to browse and pretend that she noticed no eyes upon her. The dragon companion on her shoulder was of a different mindset. While Kai was trying to study the pretty crystals, the dragon crawls down from Kai’s shoulder so that he is positioned right between her booted feet. The blue dragon stares across the room at Nebb, draconian tongue slithering out of his jaws in consideration. Aspen’s demeanor was not hostile, he was just curious. Kai murmurs down to her dragon friend, “Your big brother is not here to save you if you get into trouble.”

Leoxander noticed the dragon. He wasn't fond of dragons. But this one resembled Sora in a way and felt... familiar.

Lita eyes the assorted snacks and wonders what you feed a dragon to distract it.

Lita eyes Leoxander for... no particular reason.

Joan wanders over towards Leoxander, Lita and Lovavelle, the purple haired vampire rather glade to spot the blue hair of the Druid and offers her a wave in greeting before she speaks to the group, “It’s okay to take a few of the items here, it’s all to help our fellow healers and curious seekers.”

Thamalys lifted his left hand for Nebb to climb on top of it. The web of white scars onto the chalky skin of the Blue seems not to suffer from the razor-sharp talons of the kite. As the latter cocked his head toward little Aspen, the Avian’s eyes, lidless and old, followed. “Oh, I see…” he simply noted, whilst imparting onto his lips something not too dissimilar from a genuine smile. He even waived at both Dragon and Druid, whilst circling the room and periodically nodding to some old and new faces as well. With the sage sorted, the Spellblade thought it best to switch to his catering duty. Not the most graceful waiter, he carved his way through the crowd with a tray of fresh fruit, his wings shoving around more bystanders than he cared to admit.

Loravelle didn't bat an eye at Lita when she bit the piece of orange out of her fingers, and happily offered another. The face the vampire makes is mirrored when she eats another piece herself. “I miss coconuts.” Maybe not rum, at least for a while. Maybe whenever their group heads back to the island. She searches out a head of blonde hair and spots Leo, and is momentarily torn. Lora -should- be attempting to mingle, especially since she's keen on joining the guild herself, but keeping close to Leo sounded much better. But she's brave, she'll try...mingling. Sort of. So many people that had gathered so far were folks that she knew, and one very distant familiar face grabs her attention. Thamalys. Did she have that chess piece on her or did she give it away...? With her free hand, she quickly pats down the pockets of her robes even if she knew it wouldn't be there. She did have a flask stowed away for emergencies along with her waterskin, and she's quick to pass that flask off to Lita if she's still close before approaching the Blue. Interrupting his sorting felt incredibly rude, but she should say hello. “Mister Thamalys. It's good to see you.” She looked considerably less sickly than their first meeting in Gualon, and far less skittish.

Kailani was not the overly talkative sort. Has she actually said anything to anyone except for the dragon that is now at her feet? Still, as reserved as she may be she does not go out of her way to be rude. Not intentionally. So Joan’s greeting is returned, but with a polite bob of her head rather than a wave. Waving would also mean that Kai would have to let up her hold on that leather wrapped object she has been clutching onto. A nod was good.

Kanna spots the avian man with a kite before she sees Kailani over the sea of heads and smiles at how cute it looks. Moving towards the edge of the table, she looks up, up, wow he's a lot taller than her, up at Thamalys and makes a hum to try to catch his attention. Holding a candied piece of meat that got stuck to one of her cakes, she smiles up at him. "Do they like treats?"

Kailani also returned Thamalys' greeting with a nod.

Nortengaal had been hemming and hawing a bit about whether he was going to attend this shindig or not, but ultimately thought it’d be an entertaining way to spend an evening, and has made his way to the event and entered with little fanfare. Not exactly what he’d consider to be a healer, the bearman did still have some abilities in that area, and was curious to see if the guild would be able to help him refine them. Of course its not likely he’d find out anything specific so soon, but there’s bound to be enough info to be had to get a decent idea.

Thamalys , stopped in his tracks by both Loravelle and Kailani, offered a wry smile and some fruit. “Good to see you too – it has been quite some time…” he croaked in what he thought it was his most amicable voice to the former, whilst nodding toward the latter shortly after. “Yes he does, but he tends to get carried away when it comes to food… watch your fingers!”

Kanna sees Loravelle approach and blushes in embarrassment. "Loravelle!" She suddenly feels a wave of self consciousness about her overly casual attire here. Kanna bows her head in greeting, and looks up at Thamalys when he responds. "I do quite need my fingers..." Kanna lays the meat perfectly flat on her palm and holds it up for the bird of prey's approval.

Lita murmurs something about Lora being a blessed little Saint when the woman hands over that flask. Though Lita thinks better of trying it just yet. Maybe because she was supposed to be being social and a good representative of the island or something. Okay. So with an internal groan she pockets what is probably rum and not her favorite anyway. For emergency use later. And she follows a few paces after Lora, keeping her distance but also keeping an eye on her as she observes those present.

Thamalys anxiously observed the lethal beak of Nebb descending upon its prey… only to sweep up the treat offered by the Druid in a suspiciously precise manner. No blood, no drama - for once; a most welcomed change. A small sigh of relief would have escaped from the Blue, together with a grateful nod.

Loravelle did it! She socialized. That's enough, right? ...Right? The urge to step right behind Lita and then mimic her nickname scurry away like a mouse is incredibly strong. Instead of drumming up some conversation with Thamalys with a question about how he's been or something similar, she turns to leave him to himself, only to practically leap out of her skin with surprise at the sound of her name coming from a familiar voice so close by. “O-oh, hello Kanna,” she flashes a smile for the bardess and scrambles for something to say. “We um.” We being her and Nort, “We still haven't...found that-” Was this supposed to be a secret to anybody that wasn't in the know? After a breath, she tries again. “I still haven't taken a trip to the coast for those seashells you wanted...” The hastily cobbled together 'code' is so transparent that anybody within earshot could pick it up in a second. There's a reason she keeps the Rogue's books and doesn't do anything that requires being discreet.

Penelope (1 of 4):: Penelope finally hears the words from Finn Fennigan to calm down the crowd. Penelope decides to center herself in front of the gatherers before lifting her hands. “Welcome everyone to the Open Healer’s Guild Recruitment Day. I hope you have time today to enjoy the tea that has been brewed from our local herbalists in our guild. If you don’t know me, my name is Penelope, and I have been a member of this guild for a long time with the intentions of learning and growing my own self and others along with me. I could not have gotten here if it wasn’t for the mentors around me who are in this room today.” She takes a dramatic pause as some members clap and pat each other on the back. They know who they are. Everyone who has contributed to the healing journey. “Today we welcome you with the mindset of growth with each other, and the place we live in. Lithrydel. We gathered here as we all care about regions of our land and care about others around us in some degree.” Pause. “New faces, we would like to welcome you and welcome you with open arms, but in order to harness and take you under our wings, we want to know if you will be able to adapt to an open-mind of flexibility.” She grins. “As healers, we adapt to situations. New faces that would like to join our halls, please step forward. We would like to recognize you and put you to the test.” Mentors from the guild clap and applaud before Penelope puts up a finger. If some recruits were not willing to move (aka, who was participating) they might just get bumped forward. “Now, now, these new striving healers will not be alone, as we also are a guild that is meant for guidance and hope. That means, each one of these faces will have a mentor today to guide them in this task at hand. Finn Fennigan, please take the lead on this next announcement.”

Penelope (2 of 4):: Finn Fennigan, the half-elf, steps forward. In his hands, cards are held with scribbled font on the side that he hides. “Today, our new recruits will be faced with a task at hand. We all come from different skill sets. Some of us, with nothing. Though, as a guild, we strive on learning from the ground up to better our society and breathe life within Lithrydel no matter our background. We always pour into Lithrydel in aspects of our lives.” He scratches the back of his neck before he continues. “In my hands, I have cards with a task. A patient profile. One of the diagnoses. Today, as a team, your job will be to understand the diagnosis and hypothetically heal the patient with the items that lay on this table.” He gestures out to the table of healing supplies. A plethora to choose from. Anything one could think of would be laying on that table. “Recruits, you will be in different teams. When I call your names, you will grab your task card. Once you receive it, your job will be to talk as a group as healers require great communication with one another. You will then, next, move to the table to grab the supplies you need. Last, once your supplies are established, you will explain your reasoning for said-supplies in your corner. I will give you notice of when to find your resources. Remember, us healers are normally under great pressure of time. Mentors, you are there to provide support for the new people today who want to join our ranks.” He pauses for any questions. “I will call the names of the teams and provide your patient profile card…” He clears his throat before shuffling about the cards and looking over them to connect them to different faces of the room.

Penelope (3 of 4):: Finn clears his throat, “You,” Kailani. “You,” Loravelle. “And you,” Kanna. How personable… So much for names. Surely he got his information from a certain freckled healer, who by the way was closing her eyes, awkward dancing at Kailani in a motion of “oh, yeah, you got these new ones, woo-woo”. Surely Penelope trusted Kailani with the recruits, just as Penelope was still learning off of her friend in different ways. Penelope was odd, and with that, she made things awkward for new people in her over-dramatic enthusiasm, meaning Kanna and Loravelle, enjoy the dance. Finn continues despite Nel’s distracting motions, “You are a team. Kailani is the mentor in this situation if your team needs guidance,” he hands the card over and when one would look, it read as a title of the patient: “The Feverish Forest Wanderer”. Below, listed, would be the title of “Symptoms”: high fever, body aches, and general weakness. Below, listed, would be the subtitle of “Medical History”: recently ventured into the Kingdom of Enchantment in the forest and was exposed to undiagnosed magical flora. The “Objective” listed: identify the cause of the fever, administer herbal remedies to reduce temperature and restore vitality and explain why.

Penelope (4 of 4):: Lastly, but certainly not least, the guild tutor moved to the next team. “Thamalys, Joan, and… you.” Lita. All familiar guild members but one. Penelope, of course, dances in a “raise the roof” motion, again. What is with this freckled weirdo mentor chick? Finn continues, “You are a team. Thamalys, you will help guide.” He looks down at the card before passing it on to the dreaded man. When the team would look, it read as a title of the patient: “The Battle-Scarred Warrior”. Below, listed would be the subtitle of “Symptoms”: Deep lacerations, bruising, and inflammation from recent battle. Below, listed would be the subtitle of “Medical History”: engaged in combat that requires fast, effective healing in the lower abdomen. The “Objective” listed: cleans and close wounds, reduce inflammation, and promote rapid tissue regeneration–what items would you use or magic would you use, as well, and why.

Leoxander made his way to Nortengal to stand by the bearman’s side, or closer to his proximity. A silent greeting, maybe even his arms relaxing briefly to clasp the brawler’s hand, but he focused on the event to make sure he was ready to step in if any of their pack needed them.

Kanna beams as her offering is accepted, and looks at Loravelle as she stumbles. "Ah, yes, the sea-- seashells!" She perhaps said that word a little too loudly and with too high of an intonation. This is why she can never be a rogue. "No rush on those, you'll be a lot faster than me anyways since I can't go to the coast--" Coast also said with suspicious emphasis. "--for another few months." As she shovels a large piece of cake into her mouth to shut herself up, Finn approaches with instructions. Ah! Kanna can't heal without her instrument, is what she wants to say, but all that comes out is muffled cake sounds as she takes the card and holds it out for Loravelle and Kailani to see. She takes a sharp breath in as she rushes to finish chewing. Finally able to speak, Kanna worriedly warns, "You're not supposed to go out past the big hawthorn tree, there's magical thorns and burning nettle in those wildflower patches that can make you really ill even with just a graze to keep mortals away from the dryads' corner of the forest. The only thing I can think of is a high exposure to dragon nettle, because it causes a burning sensation throughout your whole body, which would make you very fatigued by the time you're able to seek out treatment." Kanna looks at Loravelle and Kailani, and her brows knit in worry. "I'm not sure how to reverse a poison like that without magical means."

Thamalys picked up the card with his bony fingers, only to flip it so that both Joan and Lita could see it. “The Battle-Scarred Warrior”, he proclaimed in a loud voice. “Ominous…” added the Blue with a smile, right before resorting to a much softer tone. “I will say little, as I am both curious and eager to hear what you think about this one…” he continued, possibly bending over so as to get a tad bit closer to both Lita and Joan, “… but with the risk of stating the obvious, this is a situation where time is of the essence. If you would need to resort to a sub-optimal tool in the interest of time… do not hesitate. Hesitation is defeat. And…” he concluded, giving the card to Lita with a small nod, “… let us assume you might be able to leverage some fire magic to cleanse the wounds. That much I can help with. But as to how to position the patient – remember, we are dealing with wounds within the lower abdomen - , how to prepare ourselves for the treatment – our hands are far from clean - , and how to actually make it happen… I am all hears!” And with that, the Avian will leave the real conversation begin, in the attempt to strike a compromise between helping the trio as a whole whilst highlighting the creativity and skills of the younger ones.

Loravelle 's attention turned to Finn when she's addressed, but not after nodding with a little too much enthusiasm at her reaction. Her not so cleverly cloaked words made sense! Good. When she's assigned a group, Lora almost frowns. So much for avoiding socializing, but at least one of the people she's teamed up with is familiar and conveniently Kanna, so she wouldn't have to move too far at all. That's a relief. Their patient's medical history puzzles her when Kanna presents the card to herself and Kailani, particularly the bit about magical thorns and dragon nettle. With the amount of snooping around she and Leo got up to in Enchantment, though typically indoors, one would think she'd have an idea of what might have caused their patient's fever. She doesn't have a clue, and trusts Kanna's deduction for its cause. Unfortunately she's at a loss on a magical remedy due to her general aversion to anything magical. What Lora did know was a thing or two about herbal remedies, not just because her father was a healer himself, but due to her generally sickly nature and the botanical book Leo gave her. But her knowledge revolved primarily around chronic pain (for her own gut, specifically) and not necessarily fevers. With how susceptible she was to getting them, however - “Peppermint,” Lora immediately blurts. “Peppermint tea to cool him down. Father does that for me, and ginger broth to settle my stomach.” That may be more for her specific pains, but the suggestion might be helpful all the same. She looks to Kailani, momentarily marveling at her blue hair, for some confirmation. But that doesn't -reverse- a poison, which to her is the heart of the problem here... Inwardly Lora curses, and looks to both Kailani and Kanna. “How do you reverse a poison? Not just magically for him,” her hand motions to the card. “But...Without magic?”

Nortengaal notes the captains approach with a shared silent greeting and a quick clasp of forearms. While Nort isnt surprised to see Leo here given Lora’s attendance, he wasnt expecting the man to come almost dressed for ‘work’ to a Healer’s Guild event. Still, with a moments thought it does make sense, given his protective nature. Nortengaal himself about as prepared for combat as any other time; which is to say perhaps more than your average person, but still surprisable. Turning his attention fully towards the events activities, he’s very intrigued by what’s been planned, and moves a little closer to get a better look.

Kailani internally grimaced as she found herself being selected to participate in a group activity of all things. A glance is given down at Aspen, “Stick with me, please.” First, Kailani would make a pitstop to visit Penelope. The leather wrapped item that Kai has been holding onto for most of this event is finally passed off to Penelope so that Kailani’s hands will be free to grab supplies apparently. No explanation is offered to Penelope beyond a smile and a quick, “It was never meant for me to keep.” From there, Kai joins Kanna and Loravelle to hear the details of the patient card. The patient card is positioned in a way that allows for everyone to read, but Kailani was not quick to answer and give insights. This was intentional on her part. She wanted to see what Loravelle and Kanna had to say first and so she just stared at them until they spoke. Once both prospective healers have given their take, Kailani chimes in, “It is good that we are starting with and considering what might have been the culprit. There are many scenarios where we could make the situation worse if we do not even attempt to consider what the cause was to begin with. In this situation, let us pretend that none of us are capable of magical healing even if that is what we determine to be the best course of action. Is there anything that we can do to offer temporary relief? Peppermint is a great thought. White willow bark for pain and fever, for example. Burning nettle may have been the cause, but could stinging nettle in a tea could help with the toxins while we get help?” A brief pause to answer Lora’s final question. “In most cases, an antidote for a toxin cannot be properly developed without a sample of the toxin. You would need the original plant and time. But you may not have time in this situation and cure-all antidotes only come from snake oil salesmen.” Kai then motions for Loravelle and Kanna to venture off to the supplies, she would not have them shirking on their attempts even if they wanted a magical healer in the end.

Lita had been dreading this event if only because she didn't want to get anyone killed. Also, gratuitous amounts of blood tended to be a tad problematic for the younger-ish vampire, but semantics. It would be fine. Lora had given her a flask. Which she tucks discreetly away into a pocket of her dress for now as their host makes announcements and hands out cards. In truth she's only half listening until her name is called and then she'll shuffle into some semblance of a group with Joan and Other. At least she knows Joan! She takes the offered card to scan the missive and actually breathes a little sigh of relief that they get something a bit more practical and maybe in her wheelhouse that she could actually help a bit! "Gut wounds are nasty buggers." She comments, reading through the card a second and third time without looking up. "But I think the first thing you gotta make sure is that nothing internal is nicked. You stitch some poor sod up with a kidney, liver, or gods save you a bowel with some hole in it, prayers won't save 'im." She looks up at Joan then, who probably knew a lot more about all this than she did, and then over at the table full of tools. "I don't know about all the fancy instruments or herbs, I'll be honest. In my experience, best way to feel where something is or isn't is with your own hands." And Other was right, they'd have to assume they were on some battlefield without sterilization. "And if we can use any tools in the room, then-" She produces the flask of rum then and shakes it gently to slosh the liquid. "Card says the wounds are from recent battles. Multiple. Nobody ignoring a healer's advice about getting rest and what not shows up for their next fight without a bit of liquid courage." She might toss a glance at the pirate here. "So, quick sterilization, check for internal wounds, try and sew 'im up?" It wouldn't be fancy or pretty or painless. But with any luck he'd be alive. Maybe Joan would know more about the delicate side to all that healing stuff.

Penelope 's personal dance party comes to a halt. Eventually, she stands up on a chair, as she is a shorter one. To grasp the attention of the chatty bunch, she hollers in a playfully bewildered manner. “Why are you all still talking?! Herb group, you three know what you’re doing! This isn’t an actual tea party! Your patient is -dying-! Grab your supplies!” So much feist in that small stature. Finn Fennigan is chuckling off to the side as he watches the Loravelle, Kanna, and Kailani. What would they grab?

Penelope:: Finn Fennigan definitely is bobbing his head in the battle-scar chat. He is liking the careful conversation of the first round rather than Penelope's impatient ways.

Leoxander was also a quiet spectator along side north, dividing his attention mainly between the three that he arrived with participating, but watching the preparations and progress of the groups in whole. All the while wordlessly willing Lora to think back on those moments he suffered allergies, or her bad hypothermia sickness, using those examples to got with her gut. She’d saved others when they had to be saved with whatever means she could find. Penelope’s speech was approved by the pirate. A ‘healer’ was no shape set in stone.

Joan glanced over the card Blue held out to both her and Lita, the vampiric healer allowing Lita to speak first as her oen eyes wander over the items on the table, picking out the few items she'd best thought would help as she listens to Lita's run down. "Correct, it's best to use whatever you can to cleanse your hands and the wounds, then you have the vicitm lay as flat as possible on their back as you check over the wounds. You would need to apply gauzes to as many of the open wounds to then apply pressure to the worst, a quick bit of fire magic to seal and close the smaller wounds before moving to the worst. A pine essence could be used to heal the worst wound since we are pressed for time and possible out in the open and under attack."

Kanna feels her face flushing slightly as she realization dawns on her that she had studied how to identify and administer poisons during her time with the necromancers, but never bothered to learn how to undo the effects. How many people had stood here flustering over how to best treat someone Kanna had poisoned? She bites her lower lip and sets her food aside, suddenly not feeling very much in the mood for treats anymore. Without her precious dragon-zither, Kanna would not be in a position to perform the magical healings she was accustomed to performing for quite a long time. "It... does take time." She echoes sheepishly as though this is not new information to her. The bardess' mask resumes and a confident smile replaces her worried expression. "But tackling the symptoms would give their body time to naturally recover too, right?" With Penelope's urgent reminder giving the little bardess a jolt, she follows Kailani's instruction with Loravelle to the supplies area. "Peppermint tea, white willow bark..." Kanna spots a bottle and holds it up for Loravelle's approval. "Honey, to mix with both and apply to the site of the wound to prevent festering. I learned that when I was far between towns and couldn't afford bandages to keep on hand." Her eyes light up. "It would also make the mixture easier for the patient to ingest."

Penelope:: Finn Fennigan whistles at the group that are concluding their conversation. "Tick, tock, tick, tock. Will your patient -live-? Best get to that supply table." He smirked in his giddy manner before pacing around the room at different angles.

Leoxander called from the sidelines to his wife to be. "C'mon, Mouse. That could be one'a us layin' in the sand."

Thamalys listened carefully, only mildly perturbed by Lita’s rather unconventional choice of strong spirit as antiseptic. He nodded slowly, whilst supporting Joan’s observation: “no point in denying that there is a much higher chance to find rum than actual antiseptic in the field…” nodded the Avian. “We do have quite the selection available to us today, though…” continued with perhaps a small hint of pride in his voice, whilst gesturing the two Vampires – Wind, did the Blue change! Not many years ago he would have flatly refused to exchanged words with their kind… - toward the table in the middle of the room. “These are two different formulations we often bring into field…” explained the Spellblade, pointing toward two flasks: one, rather large, containing a rather anonymous, if definitely viscous, transparent liquid, the other, much smaller, containing what look like a poultice, bright orange. “The orange concoction is much more potent… but as we are dealing with multiple wounds, quantity supersedes quality. And I cannot stress enough the importance of cleansing our hands first - thoroughly. No point in sealing a wound if the root of a potential infection would still lie within it. I’ll take this…” he went, grabbing the flask whilst canting his cranium toward a collection of gauzes and bandages for the Vampires to pick up as well. “The pine essence is a brilliant strategy if the land cooperates… we must have some of that over there…” he proceeded to nod in the general direction of the centre of the table. “We’ll probably need some needle and thread as well… am I forgetting anything else?” His inquire sounded entirely genuine…

Penelope looks over to Leoxander who is watching Loravelle and supporting her from the sidelines. "Yeah!" She agrees to chime in with the pirate out of kicks and giggles.

Loravelle needed to reread that tome of hers and take more notes. One of her suggestions receiving a stamp of approval so to speak was a relief to her, and what information Kailani provided about antidotes for a toxin actually causes her eyes to light up. She'll remember that for a project later, specifically for Leo. Penelope's warning of their patient's impending doom gives her a sense of urgency to quicken her pace, even if the patient wasn't real. Exercise or not, she wanted to take it seriously. When both she and Kanna are beckoned to follow Kailani, she obediently does so. Upon reaching the table, she finds it somewhat easier to identify white willow bark than she thought she might. Bless that tome, even if she did need to read it cover to cover again. The illustrations of each plant were helpful beyond measure. “Honey sounds perfect too!” She nods, as Kanna holds up the bottle of tea. She mirrors the bardess and presents some willow bark she collected from the table. “Normally,” at least where she's from, if a person falls ill, “we'd encourage them to rest as much as possible.” Sleeping it off wasn't a cure-all obviously, but the thought has her naturally seeking out some lavender on the table. Maybe to mix in with the tea? At least the scent would be soothing and potentially encourage sleep. “We make pillows stuffed with it back home... And maybe it'd grant us time to make an antidote?” Which kind of nettle did Kailani say? Stinging? She searches the table for it, but struggles to differentiate between a few varieties she manages to identify.

Lita glances sideways at Joan with an admiring smirk. Knew that one was a smart cookie. And so far their hypothetical patient was far from what Lita had managed in the past. Staunch the worst of the bleeding and get to a proper healer in time. Joan is the proper one in this scenario. "Sounds like a plan." She says as they move towards the supply table. She listens to the Other's- she should learn names better- description of the antiseptics and while she's not sure she'd ever be the type of healer to carry them, it's still good information to have. Sometimes those seconds mattered. She snags needle and thread and a handful of gauze from the table. She'd leave the potions and salves for Joan.

Kailani :: Penelope was definitely fire, with all her impatience and urging everyone to get to it. Kailani was water, she was calm and unwavering despite all of the commotion in the room. She would also move when she darn well pleased, and that would be well after Kanna and Loravelle got the first start. “Tackling their symptoms could give their body time to recover, it would depend on the poison, the person, and the dosage.” Once the two were well underway with grabbing things, Kailani would move toward the table of supplies. The druid might have listed out numerous hints for Loravelle and Kanna to select from, but if she needed to bring something back to the table it would be red clover. Before Kailani makes her way to the last station, where they are supposed to put the supplies, the druidic woman pauses right besides Loravelle. She could tell the woman was trying to differentiate between various nettles and was struggling. Understandably, “You can tell by their leaves. Stinging nettle has the leaves that have the little teeth in them?” Not literal teeth, obviously. “And then you can see the rough vein pattern on the surface. You just need to remember that when you make the tea, that none of the plant makes it into the tea. It can offer relief, but only if properly strained. Otherwise it will just be uncomfortable.” Off to the table, with the red clover. Bloop. Kailani waits for the fiery Penelope and the down-to-business Finn to come review their work.

Penelope :: Finn Fennigan notices that the ingredients from team Kailani, Loravelle, and Kanna were being chosen for resolution. While keeping an eye on the battle warrior group, he slips to one side of the room where the three were. “What kinda ingredients ya got there?” Penelope jumps down in a peppy motion before she wanders over to the three as well to take a look at their supplies. “What’s the news?” There is a small little amused smirk on her face. “Did my forest-dweller live?! How?!” The dramatics.

Joan nods as Lita moves to gather her items as she listens to Blue. She was counting on the pine essense to knock out most of the inflammation since it was the most quickest magical fix, but Blue was right, what if the land didn't cooperates. "Hmm, well the fizzy potion would work in a quicker pinch and that frostmaw potion, but if we just had a very basic field medic kit and was super low on supplies then youd need perhaps moss, and a few other herbs and water to make a herbal poultice to apply to a fresh gauze and remove the soaked one over the abdomen wound.' She picks out her items to add to what Lita had and presents these to the elder Avian.

Thamalys , eyes lit, was fully committed to elucidate the many aspects of lower-abdomen wounds to the two Vampires: “…people who suffer wounds to the abdomen tend to curl into almost foetal positions. We Healers, on the other hand, would need full access to the wounds. To that end, unless the patient is unconscious – an information which I think it was deliberately omitted from the card – we are going to need… well, either much more rum or better still an actual sedative. Joan pointed out the possibility of internal wounds as well… those are incredibly tough to deal with, but in any case, with wounds to the abdomen there is always the risk that gravity will pull the guts or else out form the patient’s wounds. We’ll need a flat surface, to position the patient supine and give them the best chance to survive. I can’t say I wish for any of you two to have to deal with this particular scenario anytime soon, though…” and with that, the Blue looked away for an instant, as if lost into some painful memory not entirely forgotten still. At which point, Finn appeared, as if out of thin air. “Ah – well, we have quite the assortment, really…” begun the Blue, before stepping aside. “I will leave these two to explain – they did most of the heavy lifting anyway, and Joan was even about to propose some moss-based approach that our current supplies do not quite represent today… best to hear it from them, really!”. And with that, the Spellblade would sidestep even further away, respectful of the effort of Joan and Lita and offering a nod to them both – a small gesture that might have gone amiss, but the few who knew the Avian also knew that he was phenomenally stingy in giving away assent in any shape or form.

Kanna turns her head left to look at Loravelle, who might be too startled by Finn's tone to respond immediately, and Kailani, who will answer Finn on her own schedule because this pretend patient isn't going anywhere. "Oh!" She had to start. Kanna lines up the supplies on the table. "Given the symptoms and the area where the traveler fell ill, untreated dragon nettle poisoning seems to be the most likely cause of the illness. From what I understand, the poison itself is not lethal, only the fever it can induce is. To treat the three symptoms, we g--" Don't say guessed. "Determined that the best course is to make a tonic from peppermint, white willow, red clover to treat the high fever and body aches. Because white willow and red clover are bitter by themselves, honey would be added to make it easier to drink. A paste of this with honey also needs to be applied to the site of the scratches to prevent further festering." They're staring at her. This was a different kind of staring than when she does her musical performances, this was a judging kind of staring. "A-and-- rest." She stutters, averting her eyes.

Leoxander paused his watch of Loravelle with a crack in his neck, thinking back on the flower an island away. He wasn’t certain of the rules but the hell with rules. Sirensnare tea was believed to assist in stress and pain to let the healers do their work, and he tried to subtly flash the no longer bioluminescent but bright flower leaves from pocket, it a pouch, if she or one of the other two, say Lita, happened to see. Turning his attention to the vampire pair, he covered up the show by digging pockets for an herbal smoke that wasn’t an assault on the senses. It was more floral, clove touched, with a hint of purple leaf that didn’t compare to a white-stripe. Leoxander glanced over at Joan. "Can you get this to Lora?" Since she had approached, he spoke under his voice, not sure if she still needed it.

Loravelle took Leo's encouragement to heart. He's absolutely right, which just adds to her sense of urgency with the exercise and desire to take it entirely seriously. She didn't just want to learn how to heal for herself, but to help the others on the island and beyond it, if ever the time came to do so. It wouldn't be committed to memory instantaneously, but she's taking Kailani's guidance to heart as well, particularly the care that was required on how to prepare a plant for medicinal use. Her gaze briefly settles on Leo before she heads off to the final table, her portion of collected supplies in hand. They're going to need a bigger garden. ...And more books to study from. And maybe a trip into the Fog Forest because who knows, there might be some plants worthwhile to learn about in there. She's probably going to live in Rynvale's library for a bit or figure out a means to bring a section of the library home temporarily. Penelope's arrival and her questions are met with a wide-eyed, uncertain expression. Was this Kailani's call, or Kanna and her's? Her mouth opens and closes, uncertain with how to answer, or if she even should. Thank goodness Kanna took over...and she believes the bardess explained everything thoroughly, which meant Lora could quietly nod in agreement. She didn't mean to downplay her own participation, but Kanna did figure out the bulk of how to save their patient. “Great job, team leader,” Lora murmurs, when she catches the other woman's stuttering. She knew the feeling well enough.

Kailani regards Finn with a look. What else was there to say? Look, Kailani had answered all of the questions, participated, and brainstormed. The druid feels Kanna has sufficiently covered it all. What else was there to add? So, Kai keeps it simple, “I’ve nothing to add. Kanna has sufficiently summarized the discussions. Did we accidently murder our patient or did we manage to help?” Kai lifts a brow.

Penelope beams at the dedication and strong finish the group of botanists had. She listens attentively to Kanna. A big stare of interest, like she could listen to diagnosis and cure forever. A smile flickers when Kanna uses the word “determined”. Her heart swells at the word choice. That was true healer talk. “Why, I absolutely agree with you. You really know your plants! He -lives!-” She exclaims enthusiastically. “I am certainly very, very proud, and impressed with all of you. You three are wise beyond measure, and I learned quite a lot watching you three.” She directs her next comment to Kanna and Loravelle. “I would be honored to learn alongside you two, when time allows it.” With that being said, she pulls out two phoenix-fire badges. “We welcome you with open arms.” Once they take the badges, she would turn to face Kailani. “I really appreciate your guidance with these two. I know that I always learn a lot from you. Nothing like Healer’s Guild to throw the unexpected your way. You can catch me unexpectedly next time,” she grins at her friend.

Lita looks up at Finn as they're addressed and then back down at their supplies. They seem to have gathered far less than the other group and she panics internally for a second. Should they grab more, just in case? Had they missed something important maybe? She glances at Joan then and finally back up to Finn. "Hopefully enough to save a man's life for another day." Whatever that would mean for the next day, that would be tomorrow's problem. Couldn't solve them all at once. But she's staring down at the card, brow furrowed. "I think the only other thing I'd do is ask him his name." She says to Joan. "Assuming he's conscious still, the best way to try and calm him down is to talk to him. What do you think, you wanna give him a name?" She offers the other vampire. Glancing around, she'll snag a pencil from someplace and at the top of their card write whatever name Joan comes up with for their patient... it's about this this time that the Other is reminding them of the importance of keeping the patient still. Lita doesn't think it prevalent to state that if trying to be calm and empathetic helped, she'd likely just resort to punching said patient. But again, all the fancy herbs aren't her forte and she can not stress that enough. What was one more bruise amongst the litany, really? If it saved his life. The Other one steps aside leaving her blinking up at Finn again. "Right. Well, I think we're assuming some sort of battle laden war scenario?" She glances to Joan for confirmation. "So focusing on quick and efficient, rather than clean and pretty. Check for internal wounds that need attention, apply fire magics as needed, stitch up the worst of the gut wound to staunch the bleeding and get out of harm's way to safety. At which point more attention can be paid in the form of herbs or salves, bandages, gauze, so on and so forth." She glances to Joan again, letting her step forward to explain it more detail.

Nortengaal is more engrossed in what’s going on than he wouldve expected to be, the fast paced action of the teams discussing their ‘patients’ and gathering their ingredients and tools surprisingly engaging. Opposite Leo, he raises his voice slightly to be heard by Ace. “You got this Lita! Heal the sh- “ the rest of the word is lost in a sudden uptick in ambient noise “ outta that guy!”

Leoxander smirked toward Nortengaal knowingly. Looks like they had some medics for the bear pit.

Kailani regards Penelope with a soft smile, probably the first one seen since Kai arrived. It was no secret that the blue-haired half-elf has a soft spot for the druidic witch. “Of course.” As is pretty much the norm with Kailani and large gatherings, the druid has made her appearance and she has done her best to interact with the actual people. Not just the animals. With a polite nod to Kanna and Loravelle, “You both did very well. If I can ever assist you in the future, just send word.” Without further adieu, Kailani and Aspen slip out the door before they can be yoinked into further training. One was good, yeah? Leave the poor hermit alone.

Leoxander checked on Lita, who had not overbeatingly taken charge but worked as an asset, and he expected nothing less from Ace. Of course, Loravelle surprised him. Maybe it was worth putting his nose in a book instead of a map or sketchbook from time to time. "Good show, Ladies."

Loravelle applauded for Kanna, and for the fact that their patient survived. She holds the badge given to her by Penelope in her hands, examining it briefly. “A firebird,” she murmurs, appreciating its design before pocketing it. “Thank you, Miss-” Lora doesn't remember if she ever learned Penelope's name, but in her pause Kailani leaves so she waves farewell to her. Really she wanted to get back to Leo and Nort and show off her prize.

Kanna is so stunned by how her initial bout of curiosity has transformed into becoming part of the Healer's Guild today. "I could be a real healer?" She says quietly, more to herself than to Penelope. Killing people had become easy with her knowledge of poisons and manipulation of bardic skills, but working to save them was a task that had given Kanna an adrenaline rush that was surprisingly pleasant. "Can I learn more about how to treat poisonings here?" Looking at Loravelle, Kanna blushes and smiles embarrassedly. "I thought you were the team leader here, you figured out the first ingredient to treat them." Looking to Kailani, Kanna adds, "I'd love to learn from you as well, you know a side of plants and poisons that I had not considered until today."

Joan glanced down at the item Leoxander passed her, with a shrug she passes it onto to Lora as she stands next to Lita as Finn approached and posed his question, she didn't forgot about Blue's posed question to them both and gives her answer, "Since me and Lita are vampires we can use our gaze to lull the vicitim into a sleep, or..."She holds up her hand and pinches her index finger over her thumb and makes a flicking motion. "Flick them between the eyes with a tiny amount of strength and command the vicitm to sleep...while knocking them out with that flick. But that is something we vampires can do." She gives a rolling shrug of her vested shoulders as she then comments, "Yeah, as for a name Jimmy would work." She told Lita, she gives Finn another glance and then to look towards Blue to see if he'd agree with the treatment.

Penelope waves farewell at Kailani before grinning at Loravelle. “Of course! You earned it, and I’m glad to have given it to you–” she stops short, as she does not seem to know the woman’s name either. “Penelope. Nel, for short. Or Penny. Or Pen…” She rambles, but she knows she will not keep Loravelle for long as she has another badge to give shortly. A glance is given to Kanna who is a familiar face. “Hey, you’re the one from the tree…” She connects that dot. A soft smile is given at Kanna’s amazement. “There’s a lot to learn, and a lot to learn from each other. We are very lucky to have you.” She would then wave to the two new ones before moving to the next group next to Finn. Finn Fennigan, the half-elf tutor, begins to raise his brows. Amusement. “Taking battle to heart, I like it. Everything is said to be quick out there on those frontlines.” He sharply looks at Nortengaal who is hollering about Lita healing. Finn chuckles at the encouragement. So that was her name. Lita. “Yeah, you got some good antiseptics in there. This orange guy,” he taps on the jar with the bright orange salve. “Smart move.” He then puckers his lip to eye each other resource. “What do you think, Nel?” Penelope, however, is excited and boots Finn out of the way. “Move, Jimmy is alive! Congratulations! You three are amazing! Thamalys and Joan, thank you for your help today for this new healer! You three have to teach me some things about learning about resources around the area.” She pulls out a badge for Lita, “We would be honored."

Lita tosses a proud look over her shoulder at hearing the encouragement from Smoke. She offers him a wink in thinks before finding her composure again.

Lita is far more honored to accept the guild badge from Nel than she lets on, managing a thanks as she takes the item and turns it over in her hands to inspect it. "I'm glad Jimmy will live." She says with an air of amusement. "I don't know if all the magic stuff will ever be for me, exactly, but I look forward to learning lots of new practical things from everyone here." She's eyeing the orange antiseptic jar at that. 'Cause it wouldn't be a bad thing to have access to better supplies either. "Appreciate all the opportunities, for certain." She's just now realizing that Lora is also in attendance and she glances around to see the woman has a guild emblem too and she lifts hers in commraderie to say congratulations.

Penelope smiles and nods before moving on back to the tea station. She finally needed a calm drink to ease the excitement of the new members of the guild.

Zahrani has arrived, taking on her more elven form this evening. A divine aura emanates from the feline, tail swishing as she powerwalks into the guild hall. She is unfashionably late, but she is here all the same, cyan eyes scanning those gathered for any familiar faces.

Thamalys hid, or tried to hide, the shiver that run through his spine as Joan mentioned what she and Lita could do. Vampires… even the Black, still lost in his dark dreams, stirred. And yet, the Blue would not have his past and his blood to cloud his present judgment. “Ah, absolutely – a rather quick and efficient strategy, if anyone with your… er… talents would happen to be around.” Any further detail gets lost into the whirlwind of Penelope storming the scene… and she has a badge with her. “Long live Jimmy, I guess!” grinned the Blue, calling for Nebb with a subtle whistle. “Really well done…” he would have offered to Lita, “and thank you, Joan!” he waved, as he started to tidy up the mess left by the participants. Some of those stashes belonged to his personal collection after all. Humming a soft tune, the Avian got to work, his thoughts a bittersweet blend of nostalgia and excitement for the future of the Guild. He found a moment of peace, leaning on the cold stone wall of the hall. In his eyes, it was only yesterday he pledged allegiance to the cause… oh well. If you have time to lean, you have time to clean….

Loravelle grins at Penelope. “Penny? I like it! I'm Lora.” Now can she scurry over to Leo? Before doing just that, she turns to Kanna a final time. “Good job again, see you soon, Kanna!” Then she's off to find Leo and has to resist dramatically collapsing into him. How did she manage that with a hangover? “I'm in,” she presents the phoenix badge to him, while simultaneously moving in to peck his cheek. “And that blue-haired woman gave me an idea about the dust...” Could she make the trip solo? Probably. Attaining access to the Healer's Guild clearly has done something to boost her confidence.

Lita watches the Other's exit- woah, flair, okay- before turning to find the pirate and Nort herself. Lora seems to have already joined the pair. She loops an arm around Lora’s shoulders in a brief hug, "Congrats!" and then she shifts slightly to wrap her arm around Nort instead. "Smoke. Good to see yah."

Joan puts down her supplies once Penelope deemed that 'Jimmy' lived, quickly she'd pass Leo's item back to him since Lora didn't seem to notice.

Penelope looks over her shoulder to see another face within the meeting room. “Hey…” she squinted. Zahrani looked very familiar. But where? Maybe it was a distant memory? Perhaps, they had not met? She could not tell. She swivels through the people. “Hi, I haven’t seen you in our halls before. Looking for someone? Were you attending the recruitment today for the Healer’s Guild?”

Joan said to Lita, "Congrats!"

Joan said to Loravelle, “And you! Wonderful job young lady!”

Joan said to Leoxander, "Good head your mate seems to have."

Loravelle turned into Lita's hug to give her one back, unable to conceal her giddiness. “You too! We did it!” She's beaming, and looks to Joan, grateful for her praise. “Thanks!”

Zahrani turns to find Penelope approaching. Her face is familiar too, from many days past. The paladin wears a well-fitted set of armor overtop a sleeveless robe, her well-sculpted arms each bearing an armband with a lunar motif and a symbol of Cyris. She brushes one of her locks out of her face, before offering a smile and asking, "I was hoping to see about joining...my work with Cyris has kept me out of the loop with guilds, but I'd like to reconnect and learn more." Her voice is a mid tenor, with a warm, raspy feline accent to it. Intense cyan eyes search the human's face, before saying, "My name is Zahrani...are you Penelope?"

Joan wanders over towards Penelope and Zahrani, the vampiric healer offering her feline friend a friendly wave over Penny's shoulder as Joan stands by the snack table...time to lay claim to all those cookies now.

Nortengaal returns Lita’s quick hug with a solid squeeze of his own. “Heya Lita. Congrats on Jimmy’s survival.” he says with a smile. “And on passing your guild initiation.” He turns his attention to Lora next. “You too! Congrats on joining the guild.” Maybe next time he would join in the festivities; he could definitely stand to learn a thing or two from joining this particular guild.

Penelope smiles easily at the news that Zahrani wanted to join, and then it hits her. She had met Zahrani in distant memories. With those foggy memories, at least left a tone of voice to trigger some remembrance. Zahrani. She remembered a name like that. “We’ve met.” She shakes her head. “Either way, yes, I’m Penelope.” Beat. “We would be honored to welcome you, but first, you need to complete a task.” Eyes trace over to where the half-elf tutor was. Finn. “Mr. Fennigan!” The man begins to shuffle over. Penelope continues, “We have someone who wants to help… Do you have another task card?” Finn reaches for a back pocket where he pulls out another card. He was not sure how many faces would be here today. Penelope snags the card. “I have a patient profile card in my hands… Your job would be to try your best to help the patient to health. Once you read the card, ingredients are over on the table. You’ll show me what you would use and why.” If Zahrani would look, there would be a plethora of random ingredients to choose from. Or perhaps Zahrani had a little magical skill to show the Ardelian. It was the feline’s choice. Would Zahrani be up for the task?

Joan said to you, "I know 'Rani, I'm more then willing to help with her task."

Penelope said to Joan, "That's fantastic! I trust your judgement, Joan. It'll give me a chance to observe."

Joan said to Nortengaal, "Do you want to jump in on this?! You are more than welcomed to."

Nortengaal takes a moment to consider the unexpected invitation before giving a little shrug and smiling nod. No time like the present apparently. "Sure, i'll give it a shot." He gives a little nod to his compatriots with a " 'Scuse me, gotta do a thing real quick." and heads over to stand near the other group. "Name's Nortengaal, most call me Nort or something else all together." he chuckles "I'll answer to most things really."

Lita is more than a little exhausted from the weekend's social activities. "Think I'm gonna head out." She says a bit quietly to Leo, Lort and Nort. "But we will celebrate back on the island, yeah?" Properly. She takes Lora’s flask, tipping it up for a drink and then will hand it back to her discreetly before heading for the exit.

Leoxander had remained quiet during their victory but Lita and Joan got a private smile, Lora got her wolfish grin, and he even nodded to some others, including Zahrani and Kanna, who he knew in some sense. Penelope was another matter. He knew -who- she was and had chatted with her a time or two after the ship mission, but she was respected enough to get a thumb and small finger hand symbol like ‘right on’, or more properly ‘good job’. “I didn’t have much doubt. So we celebratin’ or finishin’ up Nort’s pit or heading to the apothecary and library to get that started?” His gaze went to his second in command, in case she had any input.

Zahrani offers a wave to Joan before accepting the card from Penelope. She reads over it carefully, contemplating the patient's symptoms and how they articulated their own condition. Her tail swishes behind her as she approaches the table of ingredients. She recognized some, but not all. Painkillers, sedatives, immunity boosters, components that could amplify or nullify various magics. She reads over the card once more before saying to Penelope, "This patient is showing signs of arthritis..." The paladin walks over to a collection of dried herbs and flowers and lifts up two of them. "I would channel the divine healing power granted to me by Cyris, and infuse it with this herb and flower. Use it as poultice or a tea, and the illness will subside. For the immediate pain, I would use a strong distillation of lavender and rosemary. A few drops in tea would help."

Joan wanders over to the table of suppiles to read over the feline's shoulder the small card, she jerks her head towards Nortengaal so he knows to join and read the card and give his own thoughts and input.

Leoxander was out of that scene soon, one way or another. A convenient time to make a private exchange while the rogues and healers mingled.

Penelope watches as Zahrani is confident to go off on her own. Lost in the task card. Penelope looks at Joan and Nortengaal. “Nice to meet you, Nort. I’m Penelope! Zahrani looks in the zone. Here, I have another card if you want it.” She elbows Finn to hand one over, if Nort will accept it. “I saw you in the crowd today, I’m really glad you’re stepping forward. Are you wanting to join the guild?” Surely Penelope would walk and talk, so she could observe Zahrani in the process. Moss eyes move over the table where ingredients are being plucked. "Divine healing?" Penelope is almost stunned in awe at this announcement. As Penelope was a non-magical healer, although a druid. She was still learning druidic ability, so it would be a while until restorative skill would take place. A long while. "Lavender would also would ease the pain a little. A relaxer. You're a quick thinker."

Zahrani looks to Penelope, offering a smile before saying, "The limit of Divine healing is that I cannot use it on myself, but that just means I have to get creative in treating my own wounds and ailments." At almost 34 years old, the jaguar woman has been serving others as a paladin for a little over 2 decades. She turns to Joan, offering a smile, before curiously waiting on Nortengaal's response to his own card.

Penelope grins at the jaguar, “Well, I’ve seen enough for someone to think that fast without a group to help support! What a great card that fits your skill! Lucky you.” She then reaches for her velvet pocket before pulling out another phoenix-fire badge. “Congratulations. I can’t wait to learn and see more of that magical skill. We are honored by you, and would love for you to join our halls.”

. Joan said to Zahrani, "Well hot damn, you breezed through that. I'm jealous. *chuckles*"

Zahrani said to Joan, "I got lucky, because I was helping an elder human recover from it last month. You'll see me stumped at some point."

Nortengaal takes a moment to consider whether he’ll follow Zahrani or take his own card, ultimately deciding that they seem to have that one in hand already and to take the offered card. Looking it over he almost breathes a sigh of relief; this person seems to have the sort of ailments his small measure of magic can help with. “Let’s see here…both chronic pain of the wrists and newer, fresher wounds to both arms following a duel.” He heads over to the table of healing items, most of which he was unfamiliar with unfortunately, and grabs a couple things he does, that being moss to make a poltice and the healing salves he noticed were available from his watching earlier. He also roots around for some sort of bandage and some sticks for splint making before returning his items to the judging table. “Alrighty, so i can work some magic using my own energies, as well as that of the surrounding area and the person in question. That being the case, basically what i do is accelerate the bodies natural healing via magic, so i cant handle things like infections without outside aid. Thats where the healing salves and moss come in. Once i set the healing in motion, smaller wounds will heal in minutes, larger ones take longer. So i use the salve and the moss on areas more likely to be infected. As for the wrists, i’ll still use some magic to get the process moving along quickly, but i’d also make braces or splints to help keep the area as immobilized as possible to help prevent aggravating the injured areas further.”

Zahrani is impressed by the man's approach to healing severe injuries. It's not that different from her own healing paradigm; the main difference being the power source. She glances at Joan, a visibly impressed look on her face at Nortengaal's own quick thinking. She looks over the badge given to her, cyan eyes wandering back to Penelope to see what her response would be.

Penelope carefully watches while Nortengaal makes his way over to the healing table. That sigh of relief was a mental note for Penelope. There was a lot to learn, but also there was a great amount of confidence in the knowledge he -did- contain. Moss eyes flicker as he grabs the moss and salves as well as bandages and sticks to create a splint. Great technique. Using resources like that was a good thing. Nort had experience. Another reason why Penelope was so in awe today. So many people with talents. So many people she could even grow off of. “You’re also a magical healer. We need more of those in this building. Surely you and Zahrani now have the tools to learn off each other with your magical ways. Sure, all our magic is different, but… I am so freaking glad you came out and showed me what you got.” With that, another badge is pulled out for Nortengaal. Welcome to the club. She then glances at Joan. “Guess they did not need us afterall! You and I, however, will have to get together for some more healing fun! Also, next time I see you, I think I have a certain surprise to give you! We’ll have to plan a lesson date.” The freckled Ardelian says giddy and girlishly to Joan.

Joan gives a rolling shrug as she watched the bear man make his choices, all good and what he explained had her nodding her head in agreement. Everyone that came out today did outstanding. She give 'Rani a smile as the feline female looked over her insignia. Joan knew she would breeze through it just not so quckly, she was impressed and smiled warmly while turning towards Penelope, "Oh...let it be on something mortal! I need the practice."

Zahrani offers a warm smile to her new guildmates, placing the badge in a special pocket in her own satchel, before saying to Penelope, "I look forward to learning from you as well. It's good to work with companions again." She would make a mental note to bring her apprentice to the guild so she could have the opportunity to expand her own healing prowess and knowledge as well.

Penelope said to Joan, "I will definitely have something up my sleeve to help guide you through next time we're together! I'll keep mortal in mind."

Nortengaal takes the offered badge with a touch of reverence and a smile. He looks it over thoughtfully before slipping it into one of the smaller pouches on his waist. “Thank you, i look forward to working with everyone and seeing what i can learn.” The bearman is feeling a little tired from the socializing, unusual for him to be sure, but sometimes weariness just overtakes a person. “If you’ll excuse me, i have some business to attend to in short order, so i’m going to take my leave here.” He smiles warmly at the folks left in attendance. “Thanks for throwing this shindig, i’m glad i poked my head in.” With that, he heads for the exit, stopping by the refreshments table to pile up a plate of various things on his way out.

Penelope has the happiest smile right now. Were her eyes twinkling with all the joy of today? Lithrydel would be in good hands with these five new members. All unique in their own way. “I cannot wait to work with you,” she chimes to Zahrani. “All of you, really. And, of course, we are all learners, no matter the capability and the years of practice. New information never ends.” She claps for joy before looking at the lot of them. “Until next time. I am looking forward to new memories with all of you. And I’m looking forward to cheering on the sidelines or even lending a hand in unexpected events. Sven knows, Lithrydel carries a lot of burden.” She looks at the bearman, who is now taking his leave. The human waves before she casts a look at Zahrani. “I guess–” then, she hears a shatter on the floor. A broken teacup. Really?! “That’s my cue. I better go find a broom. I’m looking forward to running into you again soon.” And with that, she briskly walks away to go find a broom in this huge building. Of course, she would stop by every leftover member and ask them if they knew where a broom was. Of course, no one knew. She then disappeared out the door.

Zahrani waves goodbye to Joan and Penelope, before speaking to the vampire, "If I'm not in Cenril, Roahin of the Isran Collective knows where to find me." With that, the feline bows and walks out the door.
