RP:A Cure For Hiccups?

From HollowWiki

This is a Healer's Guild RP.

Summary: Is there even such a thing? The cause: Emilia is very pregnant.

Town Promenade

Of all the towns and cities that Kailani has traveled to, the druid finds that Venturil is the most palatable. Possibly because this is still one of the more wild towns in the land? The buildings don't block the skies, not all of the roads have been cobbled over, making it the druids favorite town to trade in. At present, Kailani is exiting the herb shop. Except she does not hold any interesting odds and ends in her hand, just a plain looking bag that is weighted down with a small amount of gold. Judging by the way the druid has her brows furrowed together, she was feeling a bit frustrated and exasperated. The old woman who mans the shop was feeling especially cranky and cheap today. "As temperamental as the sea," Kailani murmurs softly to herself once she puts a bit of distance between herself and the herb shop.

Emilia walked out of the clinic on the eastern side of the promenade shortly after Kailani had departed from the herb shop. It was the presence of the wintery chill that settled over the area that announced the arrival of the wintery woman giving her away before her famous wild white curls could. A soft laugh left the lips of the woman as she waved a departing farewell to the person on the other side of the door. Resting a hand on her rounded out growing stomach, one that looked like she had swallowed a giant watermelon, while speaking softly, “I would greatly appreciate it if you stop bouncing on my bladder until we get back home…then have all the hiccups you want,” with a sigh. Turning away from the healing center the Genasi started off from the building when she spotted the druid Kailani from the guild. A soft smile spread on frozen lips as she waddled after her, “Hey. Kailani!”

Kailani took notice of Emilia before the winter woman takes notice of the druid. Which means she is going to miss Kailani's eyes going wide with surprise at the sight of the pregnant woman. She was so big? Had it really been that long? The druid falls into one of her silent stupors as she mulls over the last time she saw Emilia. Whatever feelings of frustration that the druid was feelings moments ago is replaced with contemplation. It's right about then that Emilia notices her and speaks to her, prompting a slow smile to form across the druid's lips. "Emilia. It is very good to see you." The druid moves forward, stuffing her gold away into the bag she has lashed over a shoulder. As she does this, a very young blue dragon escapes from the bag and climbs up Kailani's arm and curls itself around the druid's neck harmlessly. This is a normal thing for the baby dragon, Kailani does not even react. She is quite focused on Emilia and her belly. "It looks like you've been quite busy," Kailani quips, "I assume Irenic helped with this?" She makes a vague gesture to Emilia's belly before inquiring, "And that everything is well with you two?" She is referring more to no more trouble with kidnappers.

Emilia watched as the young dragon slid free from the bag to find comfort in lazing around the neck of the druid. The sight kept the soft smile on those frozen blue lips. With quiet silence she healer made her way to closing the distant gap between herself and the other woman while she questioned her. Her darkened black hand rubbed small circles on the swollen belly. Within close distance of the other woman the strange heat that emanated from her stomach could be felt in a mix of the cold that leaked from the healer. “It is good to see you too,” a smile flashed wider for a mere moment, “Aye, Irenic would be the helper here. According to a visit with Penelope she senses two lives growing in there. Can you imagine that this,” the healer rubbed her belly with both hands at the word ‘this’ before continuing on, “is only going to get bigger in the coming months? Edith suggests they won’t arrive until the coming year. Irenic thinks I should already be placed on strict bedrest. What a silly man.” The Genasi gave a small soft laugh as she rambled on about the oddity she had become even more so than she already was. A pregnant Genasi with a belly that was on fire to the touch. Then came a nod, “No recent issues with anything here. How are you?”

Kailani reaches up to scratch the little dragon's nose, noticing the smile on Emilia's lips and her gaze upon the little one. The dragon seemed to enjoy the affection, but lingered about Kailani's neck. Normally the dragon had a bit more energy, as young one's often do, but at the moment the blue dragon was quite entranced by Emilia. Possibly because of her wintery nature. "Two? That explains a lot," it was suddenly less puzzling to Kailani as to why Emilia was larger than she might have expected. "It sounds like you two will have an even larger and hopefully very happy family soon." Mention of Emilia being met with bedrest is met with light lift of the brow, "Well I am sure you've reminded Irenic plenty that bedrest is only needed if Penelope feels it is. So long as you are taking it easy on yourself. No trying to run after pigs. Leave that to Irenic." The conversation has been flowing pretty smoothly, until Emilia tries to shift it to how Kailani is. For a moment, the druid almost leaves it at two words, "Good. Busy." But she's making some slight improvements when it comes to socializing, so she manages to realize the need to expand on her explanation pretty quickly. "I've been helping both Penelope and Khitti with various projects. I've made a couple of new friends." Okay, so one of those friends might be a bit more than a friend, but Kai's still trying to puzzle that mystery out. "This little guy being one of them." She gives a very gentle shrug of her shoulder to hint that she means the dragon on her shoulder. "Joined the Warrior's Guild. Busy."

Emilia with a slow motion extended her hand out toward the blue dragon around the druid's shoulders, pausing with it just out of reach, but close enough to be sniffed. The healer was not sure exact protocol for greeting a pet dragon so she took the approach used when she met most common pets like dogs or cats, “Hello, little fellow,” she said softly to the new friend of Kailani. This came with the listening of the druid sharing her explanation of what busy was for her. “Busy as a bee in all the good ways. The boys told me of the adventure with you and some mermaids when I was missing. According to them you are greatly skilled and it would make sense that the Warrior’s Guild would be a fitting place for you,” the healer complimented the other woman. Then her mind wandered back to the comment back chasing pigs around which reminded her that she had brought Oinkers with her to town, but she wasn’t sure where tha5 pink piglet had disappeared to. “No pig chasing…got it. I will send Irenic later to find Oinkers. Ah, yes, a large family. Triplets and twins along with two adults, Oinkers and the rest of the farm animals that should be joining the crew once the barn is finished at the new place.” A flash of another smile as she glanced down at her stomach watching it twitch with little almost spasm bounces. Looking back to Kailani, “You don’t happen to know a cure or calming for hiccups do you?”

What was the protocol for greeting a pet dragon? Not even Kailani knows. It seems Emilia provided a satisfactory enough attempt because the dragon leaps from Kailani's shoulder and onto Emilia's. He does not stay there, as he is soon climbing down Emilia's body to check out her belly. Thankfully he is still little and his claws won't be causing any damage. Yet. Embarrassed for her dragon's naughty behavior, the druid is quick to remove her little beastie from Emilia and return him to her shoulder. "Sorry." That embarrassment does not fade when Emilia speaks of that incident with the mermaids. Kai's going to have to learn to get used to compliments, clearly. She's far too humble to boast or brag about her thoughts on that moment. "Thank you, but it is not just my skill with the blade that I am hoping the Warrior's Guild will put to good use." Surely that is one bunch of people that could always use another healer among their ranks. Emilia's inquiry has Kailani furrowing her brows. Did the druid know any cures for hiccups? Yes. But what would be safe for kids? Kailani holds up a finger as if to say 'wait right here'. Into the herb shop she goes, for the second time today. When she returns, she is holding a small packet of..."Ginger. You can try sucking on small pieces but it is also good in tea." Of course, when it comes to the elusive cure for hiccups? That is anyone's best guess, isn't it? What works for one may not work for another.

Emilia did not flinch as the young dragon changed over to her shoulders or phased as it took curious nature to her stomach. Recently the Genasi had learned most animals, and fellow humanfolk, were interested in her pregnancy. “No, need to be sorry. He was curious. Not much different than my own little dragons being curious too,” the Genasi stated while waving her blackened fingers at the departing dragon. The woman did have three halfings that were part dragon sharing similar natures with her pet, nothing she was not used to. “I am most sure that any group in which you partake will be blessed with your skillset and vice versa. I admire you and your unique skillsets,” she said with another compliment. When she departed the healer stayed exactly where she was while Kailani departed into the herb shop. Holding the ginger in her hand she flashed a warm smile while digging her other hand into her dress pocket to pull out a handful of coins that was then extended over to the druid. There was more than enough gold in her exchange to pay for multiple batches of the ginger. “Oh, thank you. I am willing to try most anything at all. One of them seems to always have them. It was not so bad at first, but now it is always hitting my bladder making me have the urge to go when I don’t even have to go. I can only for see it getting worse the bigger the babies get,” the healer nodded before popping a small piece of the ginger into her mouth to try it already.

Oh geez, and there Emilia goes lavishing the druid with even more compliments....and they weren't compliments that the druid considers to be vapid either. How could Kailani not feel overly flattered by Emilia of all people telling her that she admired her skillset? We'll just say that Kailani was a bit relieved that the timing of this compliment was just before she had reason to disappear into the shop to fetch that hiccup cure. Kai was blushing a bit, but she's better by the time she returns. Stawp it, Ems. "Hopefully it will offer some relief," Kai offers up as a response. The druid lets her blue eyes fall back down to the belly in question, all because Emilia starts talking about how it is only bound to get bigger. Was that even possible? Kailani knew well enough that it was, but it was a bit more challenging to imagine it in the moment. Possibly because Emilia was so tiny from the start. "I guess it is probably better to prepare for the worst in that regard..." Kailani goes from internally wondering how big Emilia must of gotten when she had the triplets.

Emilia tucked a stray lock of her wild white curls behind her ear letting the taste of the ginger coat her mouth and taste buds alike. Her nose scrunched as her face twisted into a sour face as if the woman had just taken a large bite out of a lemon. Blame the pregnancy hormones taking over her petite body wrecking havoc on her normal state. “I find lately that I prefer chocolate covered pickles or cheese covered fried turkey strips…and this is just not similar to either, but hopeful it will settle the hiccups,” the healer said with a still soured smile. Turning toward the north Em nodded, “I should be getting back before it gets too dark. I am almost most clumsy pregnant than not pregnant and I have been told that is an amazing feat to accomplish. You are welcome to stay at the farm if you like. The triplets are in Cenril with Edith trying to dig up some information about avian babies. Trying to figure out what I am going to be in for. Are they born with their wings? No wings? How big of wings if so? The triplets came early and never made it to term. Suppose bedrest will be a thing at some point if I don’t want these ones months early...” she trailed off on a thought in mid sentence reflecting back to the early birth of the triplets who are now thriving in life compared to then. With her body turned it was almost a magic act to see the belly vanish behind the curls. From behind she didn’t look pregnant, but then as she turned back to Kailani the belly showed again. Wouldn’t be long before that trick of the mind would disappear. “Did you want stay? Or catch up for tea soon? It is so good to see you. “

Kailani makes a cross-eyed expression at everything that Emilia is explaining. It was all a lot. Chocolate covered pickles sounded absolutely gross. There were moments were the half-elf was slightly envious that she would not be able to have children of her own, but...this was not one of them. At least the cheese-covered turkey had flavors that sounded like they'd blend moderately well. Kailani keeps her commentary to herself. "I appreciate your offer, but I've got a nice little camp set up at the Laurelle's Lake. There is me, my little dragon friend...and then a griffon by the name of Grimclaw and a man by the name of Orion are also staying there." Yes, Kailani's is definitely smiling a bit as she explains this. "But I would like to walk with you, if you do not mind? Then I will know where to go for tea later."

Emilia froze with a cringe that ran her entire spine at the idea of camping at the lake. The Genasi was terrified of water, especially deep water such as a lake or an ocean or rivers. Sleeping that close to such a body of it gave the healer dayterrors at the thought. “What a brave woman you are,” she complemented Kail once more, however, it was probably a normal thing for most to not be afraid of the lake. A smile fell over blue lips, “Of course, sounds grand. It is not too far out of town in the nearby byrg. Perhaps, when you come for tea you can bring your dragon and the griffin with you. I have always wanted to meet one up close. Oh, and you can also bring the Orion if you want. The house is open to nearly all guests.” With her mind now on food the conversation on the way back would consist of mostly food related topics while trying to slip in moments of more about Orion at the campsite at the lake.

Kailani bobs her head in a nod of agreement. She will certainly pitch the idea of tea to Orion, though does he even drink tea? Kailani did not know. Emilia would have plenty of time to dream about food during this walk, Kai's not doing too good of a job at freely offering up info. But Emilia might learn a few things, like they met because he saved her tush during the failed defense of the Xalious Tree, etc, etc. There is a lot of food talk though. Until Kailani drops the pregnant woman safely off and then returns to her camp at the lake.
