Black Library

Renarin nods towards Xzean and the other individual here, "Good evening."

Xzean walks in with Renarin, a slight smile on his face as he looks at his love. He seems surprised to see someone else in the Library, as he has mostly been alone during his studies here.

Renarin glances around the room, walking over to peruse some of the shelves, "Xzean, my dear...this truly is a wealth of information at our disposal. Thank you again for showing me this place."

Renarin and Xzaen are correct in their observations, another is present and has currently claimed one of the more comfortable chairs for his reading leisure. The Maharan spends more time with the depths of the library than Xzaen realizes, someone has to dedicate their time to caring for the place and Xzaen. It would be easy for Bradyn Mahara go unnoticed when there are plenty of places within the library that have restricted access. Unlike the other two present, Bradyn is not nearly as social. Both men are noticed, it's clear because the Maharan at one point looks up from his book and let's his gray eyes level right upon the two. He does not greet them though. Lord Braydn Mahra is used to people traversing through the library, alas he is far too taciturn to put effort forth into socializing with everyone that passes through.

Xzean unceremoniously walks over to Bradyn, and bows his head in respect. He says, "Lord Mahara I presume? Quintessa described you to me and told me I would find you here, when you wished to be found." He offers a weak smile, showing his canines so that Bradyn knows immediately he is dealing with a fellow vampire. It was not threatening, no amoung the vampires it was considered courtesy.

Renarin walks over to join with Xzean, raising a fist to cover his heart in a small sign of respect. "Greetings. Is this the person you wished me to meet Xzean?" Renarin glances around the library and then down towards Lord Bradyn. "I hope we are not disturbing you or your research..."

Bradyn regards the two men with a more scrutinizing glance when Xzaen so is bold as to walk up and strike up conversation with him so freely. It's not something that Bradyn as experienced in a long time, but Xzaen is wise enough to reveal that his approach is with reason...and the reason that he gives is enough to spare him from any overly hostile response. "Is that what she said...?" Bradyn inquires, not returning the smile. Displays of emotion are a rarity from this vampire in particular, he's very aloof and detached. It can also be hard to tell if Bradyn is joking or not, given the complete lack of inflection to his voice. "It seems that she was mistaken. Clearly I can be found even when I do not want to be." Regardless of if his studies are interrupted or not, the Maharan manages to dig deep and locates enough manners to actually close the book he was reading. He then rises and offers each vampire a hand to shake, as customarily done during introductions. "You already seem to know me as Lord Bradyn Mahara. The two of you are?"

Xzean resplies, nonplussed at the lack of vampire courtesy, "I used to have titles and names. But right now I am just Xzean, Novious Morior of the Necromancers Guild, and hopeful Vampire of House Mahara." Ah, there it is. Xzean's interest in Bradyn is revealed bluntly, as if Xzean senses that brevity is something Bradyn values.

Renarin accepts the extended hand, offering a firm but respectful grip in return. "We apologize if this interruption was uncalled for but it does serve a purpose. I am Renarin Vhentreth, Acolyte of Alithyk Caluss. I am interested in joining the necromancers in order to progress my own learning and to further the goals of myself and those within the guild." His eyes glow momentarily red as he mentions his own goals, and then returns to the normal shade.

It is good that Xzaen is not perturbed by Bradyn's lack of manners. It is often the norm, but frankly he's on good behavior right now. Probably because they're discussing one of the few subjects he does still have a passion for: necromancy. "Your interest in joining House Mahara is heard. I think you will understand when I say we can come to a formal decision in that regard at a later date. We've much to learn about one another, and you've much to learn about Vailkrin politics. It seems you're already rattling the hornets nest. Regardless, welcome to the Necromancer's Guild." Bradyn is referring to what he's read within the Hanging Corpse Tavern. Renarin gains Bradyn's attention next. The Maharan lifts a brow when he mentions Alithyk Caluss but this expression is short-lived. "What I can commit to helping with is assisting you with joining the ranks of the Necromancer's Guild. It involves nothing too elaborate, Renarin. Just a small display to confirm that the ability is there."

Xzean nods in response, knowing where his own deficits lay. He responds quickly, "Yes Lord Mahara. I am also very interested in advancement within the guild, which I was told was your responsibility as of now." He then steps back and begins clearing room for Renarin to begin his demonstration.

Renarin raises an eyebrow at the mention of ability but nods his head, "That is understandable. I am sure that you do not want to let just anyone into the guild to plumb it's depths of knowledge. The secrets kept within should be hoarded and hidden from the unworthy." Renarin then begins to chant as he grasps a small censor that rests upon his belt, using an orison he lights the chunk of incense that resides within and begins wafting the incense about in a ritualized motion. Renarin then begins chanting under his breath, whispering prayers in a slow and melodic voice to Alithyk Caluss, focusing his prayers and spiritual energy to reach into the realm of the dead. His prayers seek out and begin the bind a wandering spirit, dragging the spirit into a corporeal form and drawing it into the material plane. Beads of sweat begin to coalesce upon his brow as he continues to pour his spiritual energy into the ritual, binding the spirit to this plane and into his service. Renarin uses the incense to create a semi-corporeal form for the spirit to utilize as it is brought into this realm. As he finishes the small display he turns his eyes, which have grown a vibrant red, towards both Xzean and Bradyn. "Is this sufficient? I hope that this demonstrates my own control over the spiritual realm and both the living and the dead."

Bradyn issues a nod toward Xzaen when the other vampire explains his want to advance within the guild. With that acknowledgement given, the Maharan lets gray eyes travel back to Renarin so that the details of the display are not missed. There are a lot of directions that Renarin could have gone when it came to instructions as vague as 'show me what you can do.' It's impossible to tell based on facial expression alone, but Bradyn is pleased that Renarin managed to think something up that did not cause any harm to his precious library. "It is sufficient," Bradyn confirms, in that same monotone voice he has used throughout this entire conversation. "Welcome to the guild." Circling back to Xzaen's inquiry, Bradyn explains how to advance in rank for both of there benefit. "First, while I can currently decide when someone is ready to advance within the guild, it may not always be me making that decision." At some point, the guild will hopefully have a guild leader and Bradyn has made it known that he is not interested in re-assuming that position. "You advance through the ranks by advancing your knowledge, but just in theory but also in application." Meaning, you can't just read the books, you actually have to be able to perform. "Your knowledge can be demonstrated in many ways, through interactions with other guild members, through fights, and so on. Going from Novious Morior to Sceleratus only requires practice and study. When you are ready to reach the rank of Thanadule, someone will conduct a test with you to confirm that you are at an acceptable level of knowledge."

Renarin bows his head in appreciation, wiping the small amount of moisture from his brow. "Thank you, I hope that I can prove both my knowledge and worth." Renarin accepts the small tome and begins to peruse it, periodically looking up and acknowledging the instructions given by Bradyn.

Xzean has read throughly the history, especially the recent history, of the Necromancy Guild. For example, he knows Bradyn was the leader...but stepped down. He just doesn't know why, and perhaps he does not care. He says to Bradyn, "I shall continue my efforts until they are satisfactory, Lord Mehara. I have no limits on my ambition."

Bradyn reaches out to pick up his previously abandoned book, fully intent on returning to it sooner rather than later. "Trust when I say I will be watching you closely, Xzaen, to see how much truth there is to that claim." Why? Well because he has expressed interest in joining House Mahara. Bradyn meant it when he said that the want was heard. "If neither of you have anything further...? Then I think I will work a little harder on trying to not be found." The Maharan would not take his leave until the newest additions to the Necromancer's Guild confirm that they have no further questions.

Xzean nods to Bradyn, stating, "Of course, Lord Mahara. I look forward to our future meetings." He takes Renarin's arm in preparation for moving south to the other part of the library.

Renarin nods, accepting the wisdom of Bradyn's words and the knowledge contained within the provided tome. "Thank you again, I am grateful to have joined such a promising guild and look forward to both aiding in it's greatness and continuing to prove my own mastery within it's ranks."

Bradyn nods to the two men as they begin to move on to other areas of the library. Bradyn is content to let the two of them two their own devices, especially since that means he can return to the comfort of his chair and his own studies.
