War Roleplaying

From HollowWiki

There are several reasons that have developed that seem to bring about a need to have an organized way of RPing a battle between armies that could be considered a fair competition. Here are my ideas for this:

As for structure, we can keep the same number of rounds as dueling, three posts and a final defense. The defenders will, ironically, make the first post, and will make the final defense. Here is where we should probably divert from typical dueling structure; the first post by both parties should reflect positioning of the army, who makes up the army, and various other details that should be made known to the public. For example, it should be declared here that some troops are moving into an ambush position. It is up to the opponent to either come up with a good reason why they know about the ambush, or else they must pretend their commanders know nothing about it.

As for judging, a slight adjustment of criteria should be employed. As one-on-one combat is more of an art form, war should be more of a science. Therefore, strategy and believability should take the forefront in factors that should determine a winner. Also, general good dueling traits, creativity, RP correctness, etc. should also factor in.

And after a verdict is rendered, the losing party must RP fleeing unless stakes are agreed upon in advance that the losing general either dies or is captured. In that case, the victor would have to RP capturing or routing the rest of the enemy.

These are just my ideas that I am proposing...we could could employ these directly, or we could throw them out completely - I don't mind. I believe this is a good template to start and I am looking forward to hearing some additions to this page.
