Tsukiko's Beginning

Life Begins

The origins of Tsukiko's family begins in the Edo region.

Generations of Ryu's (dragon) after another helped the feeble people of Edo to fight against invasions, victoriously. Soon enough after the wars had finally ended, The Ryu's were left to living at peace with the humans. The people of Edo had always treated them with great respect and were either worshiped or sought out for their wisdom. In the past it was for their fighting skills.

After a long absence of wars, the Eastern people gradually forgot that the Ryu's existed and they became nothing more than a mere legend. Newer generations began evolving quickly around them, they were no longer being worshiped. This didn't matter much to her family. The first three of her brothers experienced the life as freewilled dragons. Able to walk amongst the Edo community without being discriminated.

Western influences began to seep into the minds of the Edo-ans. Her father, Tatsuo, saw this as a moment that they should just leave. Her mother, Hotaru, was due in expecting a fourth eggling. And he thought it'd be best before it all got out of hand. Many places were not suitable to live until he found the Xalious Mountains. Close to the edge far from other dragons Tatsuo made their home on lands he had bought, with a bit of difficulty.

Barely escaping the whims of the humans they finally settled in Hollow. Unfortunately that Hollow was being faced with menacing wars requireing of Tatsuo and his abled sons.

Another few centuries pass on and finally a daughter born to the mighty Tatsuo. Hatoru, named her Momoko. But an unfortunate accident happened when she was only 15 summers old in the midst of winter.

Momoko did many troublesome ordeals. One ordeal in which she as Momoko met her doom. A young traveler happened to be traveling in the wild forest near the Xalious Mountains and within her sights. She already reached a good 4 feet tall being that she was still growing, she followed him. And when she had thought he wasn't aware of her, she purposefully pushed him aside, he reacted and with his Staff-of-Divinity Curses a spell casted her way. With her clawed paws she covered her face for protection. Her body glowed a bright sapphire, then dissipated quickly as it came.

“Ha!” She laughed at the man. “Is that the best you could dish out?

“In due time...you will see your doom.” He laughed, waving his staff before him, and he disappeared into the shadows. She shrugged making nothing of what he had done to her. She wasn't feeling anything and so she went home, la-la-ing all the way home.

The next morning her father had noticed that she had considerably shrunk instead of grow. He thought that it may have been his imagination. Pushing the strange thoughts aside, he went on with his daily duties. Over the next few days Momoko had shrunken some more. She was close to the height of an infant. Grabbing her shoulders he looked to her.

“Momo, have you encountered anyone?” He begged of his daughter. Shamefully she retold her encounter with the stranger in the forest. Immediately he knew he had to seek out the Elvin elder. His eldest son accompanying him. She had now become a hatchling, as if she had just hatched. The elder admitted that the curse had advanced too far and that the only way was to stop it. But there would be a price to pay, a price that purebreds would not tolerate. Her father desperate to keep his only daughter alive, he agreed to allow it.

The Elvin elder was able to stop the curse. Her father unable to see what the elder had done. Was given a human-like child. His eyes changing from a misty grey to a furious red. Wanted nothing with this child. The Elvin intervened.

“Remember you promised. And she will need all the protection that is possible. She no longer has flight. But the ability to change to this at her own will. It's the only way I could save her. He pointed to her stomach a soft glow eminated from it when he pointed to it. Within her lies a special talisman, she will remember nothing of her previous life. She is anew.”

Her father looked to the stars. The moon shining brightly upon the elder's home. He looked back to his daughter and took her within his arms. Raised the infant to the moon.

“Tsukiko. Is your name. May the moon give you strength and fortality.” Bringing her down to his face, he kissed her on the forehead and with that he and his eldest had the most quietest flight home, they had ever had in their lifetime.
