Equipment
Rusted Half-Plate: Isok's rusted half-plate armor is a testament to its past glories, bearing visible signs of wear and tear from years of hard use. Despite its age, the armor retains the subtle craftsmanship and superior design that only the finest smiths could produce. The interlocking plates that make up the armor are etched with delicate designs and riveted together with precision, even as rusted patina clings to the edges of each plate. The half-plate's clever design provides ample protection to the wearer without sacrificing mobility, catering to Isok's unique avian form with careful consideration. Despite its relatively light weight, the armor still offers reliable protection to the wearer's vital organs and limbs. Though its shine has long since faded, the armor has taken on a new sort of character, one that speaks of years of dedicated use and of the many battles its wearer has fought and won.
Rusty Iron Facemask: Isok's rusty iron facemask conceals his features with an air of mystery and intrigue. The mask appears to be crafted from a single piece of iron, which has oxidized over time and left a rough, rusted texture on its surface. It covers the entire face, from the forehead down to the jawline, and only a narrow slit is left open for the eyes to peer through. The mask's design is simple yet effective, hiding the true nature of Isok's visage from curious onlookers and those who may harbor ill will towards him. Its rugged, worn appearance suggests that it has seen many battles and has been worn through numerous hardships. The mask's narrow slits offer only a limited field of vision, forcing Isok to rely on his other senses to navigate his surroundings. Despite the mask's limited visibility, it allows Isok's striking ice-blue eyes to stand out even more, almost glowing against the rusted iron that surrounds them. They offer a glimpse of the avian's true nature, betraying the otherwise inscrutable mask and hinting at the spirit that lies beneath.
Tattered Cloak: The tattered cloak that Isok wears is a testament to his travels and battles. The once rich, deep hue of the fabric has faded over time and is now mottled with dirt and grime. Torn and frayed edges reveal the coarse, woven fibers underneath, and the stitching is haphazardly repaired in places. Despite its state, the cloak still serves its purpose of providing a modicum of warmth and protection from the elements. The hood is often drawn up, obscuring the bits of Isok's head that aren't covered by a mask. Two long vertical slits in the back of the cloak allow his wings to extend freely, while the rest of the fabric falls to his calves in a ragged, uneven hemline. The cloak fastens at the neck with a simple, rusted iron clasp that adds to the overall weathered appearance of the garment. Despite its lack of adornment, the cloak carries a certain air of mystery and adventure, hinting at the stories and trials that its wearer has endured.
Worn Greaves: Despite their rusty exterior, the worn greaves have a distinct air of resilience about them. Scratches, dents, and scuffs from past battles mark their surface, speaking to their long and storied history. The metal has a faint sheen, hinting that they were once polished to a shine, and though they are not as protective as they once were, they still serve their purpose well enough to keep Isok's lower legs safe. The greaves' old, frayed straps have been replaced numerous times, yet they remain a snug fit and a testament to their wearer's resourcefulness.
Battered Heavy Gauntlets: Isok's battered heavy gauntlets are a testament to the countless battles he has fought. The once smooth surface is now rough and pitted, showing signs of frequent use. Rust has accumulated in the crevices, and the dents and scratches on the metal suggest that they have been struck by many a blade. The leather straps that secure them to his forearms are frayed and worn, but still hold firm. Despite their battered appearance, the gauntlets still provide Isok with the protection he needs to continue fighting.
Enchanted Lengthy Chain: Isok's enchanted chain hangs from his left hip, its length snaking down to his mid-thigh before looping back up and around several times. Despite its obvious wear and tear, the chain appears to be surprisingly sturdy. The metal links are thick and heavy, and each one is coated in a thin layer of rust, giving it a worn, almost ancient appearance. It's clear to any magical observer that this chain is enchanted, as it radiates with a subtle aura of power. The enchantment has bolstered the chain's strength and durability, making it nearly indestructible. Even the most powerful magical attacks would have a difficult time breaking through it. The chain's origins are shrouded in mystery, but it's believed to have been used to bind Isok to the will of a necromancer. Despite its dark past, Isok refuses to part with it, carrying it with him wherever he goes.
History
Isok's story is one of resilience, perseverance, and the struggle to break free from the shackles of his father's mistakes, intermixed with his own unfortunate fate. Born into a family of low standing, Isok's father squandered their wealth and betrayed their kind for the false promises of power and influence. In the end, he was backstabbed, leaving Isok to carry the burden of a tainted family name.
Growing up in Armantium, Isok faced ridicule and shame from his peers for his father's dishonor. He found solace in the military branch, where he fought and brawled with other boys, determined to prove himself and gain their respect. However, his efforts were met with rejection, and he continued to carry the weight of their insults silently, hoping for redemption.
Despite the challenges, Isok chose to continue his service, pushing to go further and proving himself on dangerous missions. He began to save the lives of his fellow soldiers and forge bonds through blood, earning their respect and admiration. Isok became more than just the son of a traitor; he became Isok-Shim, a name that echoed with honor and respect among his peers.
Isok's military career came to a halt due to medical concerns, and he was shipped away to recover from mortal wounds sustained during battle. However, Isok later died due to complications. Many years later, his beloved Armantium vanished.
In a cruel twist of fate, Isok was reanimated as an undead by a necromancer. He suffered through endless experimentation and was denied any freedom, forced to gaze upon his half-rotten form in a mirror, a reminder of his lesser station. Isok was helpless and bound until a dark spell backfired, freeing him from his forced servitude.
Now free, Isok wanders, seeking purpose in his new life. He has gathered the dilapidated armaments and enchanted chain that previously kept him bound, determined to prevent others from finding and using them.
Isok's story is one of a struggle for redemption, breaking free from the past, and finding a new purpose in life despite the odds stacked against him.
