Kelay Tavern

Synopsis Joan comes into the local tavern to warm up a bit after her brisk walking rounds. Upon entering she meets the returning young mage Diryon. She settles in for a bit to chat and get to know the young mage.

Joan wrinkled up her nose as she entered the tavern, even tho she was undead she still didn’t like being cold and the turning of the weather didn’t help her, so she was huddled up slightly, clapping and rubbing her hands together as she made haste towards the hearth to warm up.

Diryon is already huddled up, rubbing his hands around the crackling hearth. The mage hears the approach of another and turns his head, giving a grin to the stranger. "You too, huh?" He pulls his hands back into his robes, folding them in such a way as to conserve warmth. "Getting chilly out there. I'd forgotten how early it does that around here." Diryon looked at you.

Joan offers a small smile, enough to flash a hint of fang as the amethyst-haired vampiric healer offers a polite nod to the stranger, her icy cold gloved hands held out towards the roaring hearth as she cast a curious glance over the huddled up young man. “Oh, you know it! Freaking about freezing out there, I’mma about to buy a hot beverage, would you like one also?” She offers in a kind tone.

Diryon is quick to catch the hint of Joan's vampiric identity, though he's quite comfortable in the presence of them and - as such - doesn't shy away or recoil. "Sure, why not. Maybe some hot chocolate? I remember it being alright, hopefully, that's still the case." He gives the young woman a shameless once-over from head to toe, dipping into a little bow. "Pleased to meet ya, I'm Diryon. I'm not new, used to live here many years ago. Just taking time to get reacquainted with the landscape and the locals."

Joan turns to lift up one hand to catch Nancy's attention and give her the order for two hot chocolates for her and this Diryon fellow. "Oh yeah?! Well welcomed back, my name is Joan." She points out the guild badge dangling from around her pale ivory throat, the healer's badge hung on a pure silver chain. Hey, she can wear pure silver it's not like she a lycan or something just a snazzy dressed vampire is all. "Mind if I ask what brought you back? We kinda in the middle of a war." She made a face as she said that she didn't have much of a good opinion on the subject, war was stupid and wasted lives.

Diryon takes a seat as Nancy delivers his hot chocolate, mouthing a quick 'thank you' to the eternally present barmaid. "Nice to meet ya, Joan. Nice hair, too. I like the color." He sips gingerly at the piping hot cocoa, not trying to burn the roof of his mouth. "A war, huh? Those are never fun, but this place has never been quiet on that front it seems like. Always some sort of conflict goin' on." He shrugs in his seat, leaning back and running a hand through his short blonde hair. "Me, I just try and keep to myself, ya know? I'm content with that, usually. I've studied a lot of magic though, and I was a highly-ranked student back in the old mage tower. But, ah, not this one, another one. Somewhere else." He conveniently leaves out the fact that he got the boot from that particular tower. "Anyway, the point being, I can handle myself if I'm messed with."

Joan took her hot chocolate with a soft 'thank you' to Nancy, as the blonde mage moved to sit down near the nearest table Joan was drawn to join him at that table, taking her own seat as she first thanked him for the complement on her hair, it was one of the few things she was rather proud of, sticking out and being unique was her thing, she offers Diryon a wink over the rim of her mug while taking time to really listen to him as she took a small savory sip of the hot drink. "Mm, good to know, I was just at the fair at the mage tower here a couple of days ago, things went south at about the end of it, some huge tear happened." She commented.

Diryon raises a brow, continuing to nurse his drink here and there. "Oh? Hmm. I was never too familiar with the other mages here. I should go down and check it out to see what's going on, maybe. My senses for such things are usually pretty solid. Enough about me, though..." He casually returns her wink with a grin, "...What about you, Joan? What's a good-looking lady like you do around here?"

Joan arches one finely shaped amethyst brow as she hears Diryon's flirty comment, she wasn't used to being flirted with and if she did have any fresh blood in her system she just might have blushed, but no, she was a strong independent older woman, and a mere young man couldn't make her flush...well maybe a little bit but still! She gives Diryon her full attention now as she laughs out loud. "Mhmm, you should. And me?!" She taps at her vested chest before lightly waving her hand in a side-to-side manner. "I do rounds around here, I'm also with the local Necromancer's guild, and I also pull shifts at the Chaple of Rest in Cenril, working hard to keep the dead and living up and about if need be."

Diryon is legitimately surprised by Joan's status, though any evidence on his face is hidden by the mug as he takes another drink. "A Necromancer? I wouldn't have figured you for one. Most of those guys and gals are all dark and depressing. The worst of them stink, too. Necromancy takes a helluva a lot of study, so I'm pretty sure a lot of them skip baths and such. It's not pretty, I'm telling you." He grins, only half joking in his mind. "Not you though, clearly. By the way..." He lifts his cup again to gesture at Joan, "I saw your fangs earlier. Can you even taste this stuff? A lot of vampires I used to know didn't really make a habit of eating or drinking. No need, I guess."

Joan sits back against the back of her chair as she lets out a full-throated jolly bit of laughter, her eyes have a merry little twinkle-filled look as she addresses the young mage, "I bath rather regularly, and I like a bit of perfume from time to time. Yes, I maybe scholarly in my pursuits but I do remember to do the basic personal hygiene routine." She leans forward towards Diryon, craning her neck slightly to the side so he can get a hint of the lightly scented perfume she had on. "And yeah, I don't need to eat or drink, tho I can still enjoy the taste of things. I still enjoy the sensation and I do spike my drinks with a bit of fresh blood."

Diryon does indeed get the scent of Joan's perfume, inhaling gently so as to not be so obvious. "Well, I guess it's that and messing with dead stuff. Nothing dead ever smells good." He finishes off his cup, wiping a little residual drop from his lips with the sleeve of his robe. "I guess that makes sense. That way you get a little flavor with the nourishment on top. Not a bad idea, really." He rises from his seat now, stretching with a little yawn. "Getting late, though. Or, er, early I guess you could say. I should be off. Thanks for the drink though, Joan. Hopefully, I'll see ya around here again soon."

Joan flashes a full smile now, her fangs on display, but hers were cute and dainty so she wouldn't seem too dangerous. "Mhmm, as a healer I can't be going around smelling of death, it would put off those I'm meant to help." She raises up her half-finished mug of hot cocoa as the young mage rises up and gets ready to depart. "Yeah, sure. I'm normally about and easy to find, it was a pleasure meeting you Diryon, hope to run into you at a later date." With that, she offers her icy cold free gloved hand for a friendly handshake of good-bye.
