Synopsis Joan comes across a seemingly inviting tea party out in the open, turns out it was a sneaky trap set by a sneaky fae!

The Odd Watering Hole

Mysterious Narrator || What a nice day! Sun is out. Birds are singing softly and not in that annoyingly loud squawking way. There is a bunny-eating clover over there. And look. It seems someone is having a little party. Maybe? Set out on a stump is a small, red, and white checkered tablecloth. On that cloth is a single cup on a single saucer.

Joan slowed down her trek as she came into sight at the famous fishing spot, she was on her way towards the clinic in enchantment to bring them their new supplies from the healer's guild. As she slowly comes up towards the stump and its picnic setting, she blinks, taking in the view of the single cup and saucer. Shifting her satchel slightly Joan would dig in it to get out some goodies she had, she liked to contribute to tea parties and random picnics.

Mysterious Narrator || Taking in the view of that cup, Joan will see there is a piece of paper between the cup and the saucer.

Joan pauses once again as she spots that piece of paper. She casts a glance around in a curious manner before she goes to pick up the cup so she can snoop at what is written on it.

Mysterious Narrator || The paper has a neatly written note: step 1, skip 1, step 1, step 1, skip 1, step 1.

Joan blinks even more and even scoffs as she reads what is written on the piece of paper. Step and skip?! What was she school-aged again?! With a snort, she looks around to make sure...no one is around to witness this before she does as instructed.

Mysterious Narrator || As Joan looks around, stepping and skipping the whole time. No one sees her, but she will see the watering hole over there with a set of floating stones hovering over it. Each stone is about a square foot in size. Big enough for someone to stand on.

Joan mutters under her breath as she makes her way over to the floating stones. "Hopscotch over water?! Ugh...okay but if I fall into the water I'mma gonna be super-duper mad to get my snazzy outfit wet and possibly ruin my shoes." She said out loud to herself before she stepped and skipped onto the first floating stone over that water.

Mysterious Narrator || Joan lands on that first step and it is sturdy! Super sturdy! The sturdiest! One of those birds that was singing so prettily lands on the stone in front of her. That stone promptly vanishes! The bird doesn't fall, cause it can fly. Guess Joan will have to skip that one.

Joan grumbles as she puts out both arms to help balance once the floating stone before she disappears! "What the heck...yeah this is about to be a big NOPE." She inhales and exhales in a loud nosy manner before she leaps to the next stone.

Mysterious Narrator || So now Joan has stepped on one stone and skipped (with the help of the bird) the next stone. There are three more stones to go! Go? Go where? After the third stone is a small platform. In the center of that platform sits a parrot in a birdcage. Not sure why it wasn't seen before. Probably folks were too distracted by teacups and floating rocks. Yeah, that's it. Nothing to do with bad narrators. *cough*

Joan sees the possible end goal of all this childish hopscotch. Making a face she finishes off the rest of it, landing smartly on the platform next to the bird in the cage. "Okay...what next?" She asked aloud, but since it was just seemly her and nature here, she felt kinda stupid, but it was fun in a way. Resting with her hands on her hips she takes a good look at the bird.

Mysterious Narrator || The bird eyes her. "HELP!" It squawks. "Let me out! Help! Let me out!"

Joan bends slightly at the waist as she does as the squawking bird requests, her hand going towards the cage door but as it is about to open the cage door, she gives the bird a suspicious narrowed-eyed look. "Hold up, wait a minute...why should I let you out?! What if your owner shows up and gets all pissy at me for possibly letting you go?!"

Mysterious Narrator || "Help! Let me out!"

Joan taps her fingernails against the top of the cage as she debates on what to do. "I suppose I can let you out...hope this won't bite me in the butt later on." that said she opens the cage, moving a bit to allow the bird space.

Mysterious Narrator || The bird hops itself out of the cage and stretches its wings. "Haha, sucker!!!" And it poofs into a cloud of smoke, lands on the platform as the cutest little ferret, and darts over those stone steps back to shore. Stone steps that all vanish, leaving Joan there on her platform island. It turns around and uses a tiny little ferret finger to tug his eye down while sticking out his tongue. "Ok, byeeeeee!" Yeah, you won't see that guy again. Maybe there is something left in the cage?

Joan lets out an audible gasp of surprise and righteous indignation and had thought about shooting her index finger up in the air at the parrot-turned-ferret, but the now furry little bugger has left and left her in a pickle. Grumbling now Joan would look inside the cage to search it for anything.

Mysterious Narrator || Ooooooh! What, oh what, could be in the bottom of a birdcage? Feathers. Spilled seeds. Po--oh look! A tiny little treasure chest the size of an apple. Also covered in everything else the bottom of the cage is covered in. Gross.

Joan now really makes a face, pulling her hand back. But she is wearing her half gloves, making a grimace she puts her hand back in there as she fishes out that tiny little treasure chest. Her nose scrunches up in distaste, but she opens the chest with care.

Mysterious Narrator || Inside the chest is a clear, glass vial filled with a pink, glittery liquid. It should also be noted that the inside of the chest and the outside of the vial are very clean. The cleanest. Ever.

Joan eyes the vial with the glittery pink liquid with a mighty big suspicious look. She takes the vial and palms it into her hand before closing the chest lid and putting it back into the nasty cage. She takes to stand up now while holding that vial.

Mysterious Narrator || The vial gets warmer the longer she holds it. Not burning or damaging. Just attention seeking.

Joan pulls her focus back on the vial as it warms. "Okay..." She holds up the vial to examine it, squinting.

Mysterious Narrator || The vial cools a little... and vials. Inside, the pink liquid swirls so prettily. Deliciously. Sparkley-ey.

Joan sighs aloud as she gets the hint, uncorking the vial Joan would drink it down in one gulp. "I better not turn into anything funny, since I'm getting the idea, that a certain kitten set this up." She mutters aloud. Yup, a Miss Daisy was somewhere close by you bet'chu bottom copper on that. Probably watching and giggling to herself. Rotten kitten Joan thought to herself as she waited for whatever to happen to affect her.

Mysterious Narrator || She draaaaaank the potion!!! *cackles* No. No. Just teasing. The potion is sweet with a hint of cherry flavor. Nothing happens. Nothing happens? Nothing... wooooah! Joan floats! She lifts right from the platform and hovers over it for a moment before being carried off by a breeze to the trees lining the watering hole. It is kind of an awkward float, like being dangled from not enough rope, but she doesn't fall into the water. A pretty pink glitter trail is left behind Joan as she floats all the way to a branch of a tree where she is deposited to a seat. Well, that was fun, right? There is a hole in the tree and in that hole is a fork -just one- with a note attached to it: In honor of finding out.
