RP: A Rare Offer of a Blood Oath

From HollowWiki

Synopsis Joan ask to meet with Kasyr to report in to the Vailkrin King and offer him her loyalty via a blood oath.

Vailkrin Capitol Foyer

Kasyr has set himself up in a smaller lounge, seated adjacent to the fireplace in one of its few plush seats. On his lap is a copy of the most recent issue of the Carrion Crow- though his attention seems to be less focused on the articles, and more on a particular caricature. Still, however, engrossed he may be, he won't fail to notice when Joan is invariably led to his location by a servant. Once he hears the knock on the lounge door, he simply crumples up the paper and tosses it into the fireplace, "I bid you welcome."

Joan gave a polite return nod of her head once the servant accepted her into the castle after she presented herself. another is given afterward as she is led toward where the monarch sat. Making her approach the vampiric healer would of clasp her icy pale hands together before her, stopping not too near where Kasyr sat, one amethyst brow raised as she witnesses the crumpling up and tossing of the paper into the fireplace, yet she would not comment, not her business. "Good evening my liege Kasyr, thank you for seeing me. It has been a few years since we last met way back at House Dragana. Excuse me for my long absence from the political scene, I joined a couple of guilds with my main focus on gaining rank and knowledge in each. I just now have finally noticed all the turmoil in our homeland here and I came to report in and swear allegiance once I noticed."

Kasyr scrutinizes the woman, trying to piece together if anything had changed since their brief, awkward meeting at the tourney so long ago. What was he even looking for, really? As best as he could tell, she looked the same- though, perhaps not as skittish to be talking to him. "I'm rather surprised that you saw everything that's occurring and decided now was the time to see yourself sworn in. I feel most would have thought now was the ideal time to wait et see." There's a sort of grim humour there, accompanied by a grim smile, "Still, you mentioned a report, et other business besides. Peut-etre you should broach that, et see if you still believe this es what you want to do."

Joan bobs her head from side to side as she grew thoughtful, her icy pale pink lips pursed before she spoke. "I myself have been deep into my personal magical knowledge education. I had joined first mostly the necromancer's guild and stand at rank of Thanadule within the guild. I then began cross-training with the healers guild and recently reached the rank of a journeyman, as well as my side business as a merchant, I have yet to join that guild but other than that I have just mostly been deep in study, head deep buried in musty old books and practical application at the Chapel of Rest in Cenril as their funeral attendant, I have the aim to become a funeral director. As well as a head librarian." Unclasping her hands from each other she'd reach up with her pale fingertips to rub the pads of her fingers against her lower earlobe.

Kasyr listens impassively as she lists off her training, as what essentially serves as her credentials. Was she trying to sell him on her use as to the city, or perhaps as a vassal, given her mention of a blood oath in the letter? Perhaps it was all a preamble to what she actually wanted. "You mentioned wanting to discuss something in your initial letter. Was this the crux of it, or . . .?" His right hand now sits upon the arch of the chair, his index finger rubbing back and forth across the nail of his thumb- a small, impatient fidget. "You realize that things may go poorly if you directly affiliate with my house, correct?"

Joan gave Kasyr a slightly confused look, "Oh I did have a business outside deep in the dark forest, it was a taco shop, I closed that down a bit afterwards and took a cottage here inside the town proper. I have no issue with any of the noble houses, as well...I was of mind awhile back to establish a house, but..." She spreads her hands in an open and outwards manner, "I got sucked deep into the study and just didn't give it any more thought till I found out the city has been attacked. I was shocked of course then I was lulled into a semi-slumber right after, it affected me while I was in the Black Spire, once I regained my senses, I sought out information." She makes a face here. "I need to either join a house or try once more to establish my own with your blessing. As for making my affiliation with your house in way of a blood oath or whatever you feel is needed is of no real concern to me. I have no real enemies."

Kasyr can feel what might be a headache coming on, but he presses onwards, carefully navigating her words, until she finally gets to the heart of the matter. A house. It's the missing detail, and one that contextualizes the whole of the matter, "Given the state of the city, et the damage done to the houses, I imagine there are more than a few looking for Vassals. Ventra, for instance, es rather concerned with restoring the city's economic prosperity. A goal which seems to fall in line with yours, j'pense." He pauses here, before casually adding, "I would, perhaps, warn you against the idea of appealing towards mine. I may be one of the most hated people in the city right now, et if you value not having enemies, retaining some degree of distance would likely be safer." There's a faint pause before he adds, "I imagine the same can be said for establishing a house. The more...outspoken members of the undead population seem to decry the vampires as Aristocrats whose prosperity was built on their backs, et to their detriment even now. A new one being formed would likely serve as a target. A rallying point for their propaganda."

Joan offered a small smile with a hint of fang, "Hmm, I'll take that all under advisement, but I still do want to pledge my loyalty, this is where my home is, this is where my main guild resides. I will fight to protect my home and guild. Nothing will push me out of my home city short of the final death." She drew her hands back together and stood there in a calm manner, mostly she was scattered brain about politics and well mostly other things outside of her personal interest nowadays and it might not help to mention she was once considering joining Lady Larewen's cause a few years back. That was the past and here in the present it seemed the city needed soldiers to help protect her in her time of need, that Joan could do and offer help with, besides it was what her guild demanded of her most of all.

Kasyr runs his tongue over his teeth, biding his time as he tried to get a better gauge of Joan, and how much of what she said was true. It's only after some internal deliberation that he finally offers, "I'll take your word, but not anything beyond that. I think you need to see the city more, to perhaps talk to your peers at the necromancer's guild, before coming to any sort of fixed decision." He pauses there before finally shrugging, "Go see house Ventra. Whilst they may test you, in order to ascertain how much of an asset you can be to the city " and to their house, " If your skills are up to the task, it should afford you what you need. ...Was there anything else?"

Joan offers a rolling shrug of her vested shoulders, she had recently checked on her cottage after coming out of the semi slumber she and the rest of the undead had been affected just recently, there was a notice from the guild and what she had gleaned from the paper and the public board, and she really did want to help as best as she could. "Alrighty, tho you could better gauge my faith and truthfulness should you question Zahrani, she will vouch for me. That and perhaps my guild leaders...oh and Leoxander. I want to thank you for the time you spent with me, I will go out and try to offer my help to the city and its citizens as a whole should you not need me to offer that freely given chance to be blood oath-bound to you."

Kasyr actually offers the first thing close to a smile during the whole of their meeting, though it's more melancholy than fond, "Again, I'm not disparaging you. I'm simply saying, going to them directly would be the best thing you can do for yourself. My own word towards the houses may be shaken, given a lack of personal experience with your financial history, et the mess I'm trying to rectify in the city." There's a brief shake of his head, and then he moves to get up, his hands already finding their way to his pockets, "As it stands, I have work to do- but I appreciate your willingness to help the city." He pauses as he makes his way towards the door, before offering a somewhat firmer, "Things get better." But how much worse did they need to get first?
