Ranch Home

Entering this ranch styled home you are greeted by a large foyer. Floors are layered with cherry wood planks, three different hallways leading to three different parts of the ranch. To the right is a hidden door with stairs behind it leading up into a loft bedroom. To the left is a large living room with book shelves along the walls. The books are full of different spells, potions and other magic topic books, some on different races of creatures within the land. This room would be a bookworms haven. Varies soft leather couches fill this room, wide windows are full in the walls. With cream curtains, and silver rope holding the curtains open. A grand pearl fireplace is pressed into a wall, offering heat and light. A cream color door is in the far back of the room. Within is Odhranos' joint study and bedroom. Half of the room is taken up by a simple wooden frame bed, set low to the floor and strewn messily with just a plain duvet. The other half of the room, the study, is strewn with all of the paraphernalia that a terramancer, architect or inexperienced dad might need, from piles of stacked scrolls and set squares, small crystals and piles of sand, to pacifiers and stuffed teddies, all thrown together haphazardly into a chaotic mess. Straight in front of you a hallway leads to a wood burning stove kitchen. The countertop is on its own island with granite tops, and a basket full of fresh variety fruits. Beside the fruit basket resides wine glasses accompanying wine bottles. Brass candle chandelier hangs directly above the island. Opposite side of the kitchen stands a large Bay window looking out into a backyard, with a four person glass top dining table. A white door is in the far off corner, leading to a bathroom. The bathroom walls are soft grey, with soft blue curtains for privacy from the window here. A natural looking spring, large in ground bath is seen under the large window. Floors here are a reflecting granite to allow the candles along the walls to illuminate a better glow.

Celaeno had wandered the ranch for the last quarter of an hour, her hood sagging back and the bundle she carried starting to become heavy. She had carried it from Xalious to Larket, and finally to Artia's home, with a little help, but even her wanderer's stamina was beginning to fade. Would it be better to leave it at the front door for Artia to see later? Should she peek in the window to see if the woman was even home? She sighs, resigned to her indecision, and almost ready to linger there for the rest of the day to catch up on reading until Artia made herself known.

Artia had just got done helping those in need from the brutual deaths lately, making it hard for her to even rest. Alas, the female felt she was able to go home to rest. Even though her resting was to eat, make more healing tonics and medicines. A few potions to help speed recovery of broken bones, pain relievers, and numbing potions that would make the entire body go numb if she didn't have the time to cast a spell to make the patient go to sleep. Her normal fancy attire was covered in dirt, and dried blood, which might look imitating being she is a vampire. Moving towards her front door, only to notice Celaeno wandering about the outside of the ranch. Clearing her throat, with a smile to the female. "Well, hello stranger." She said in a light hearted tone, "Do you need something?" Tilting her head, noticing the tired expression upon Celaeno elvish framed face, "Would you like to come inside for a drink or a quick sandwich? I haven't been home much to actually cook. But I can whip up a mean sandwich if you would like?"

Celaeno had been so deep in thought, attention so focused on the house, that she jumped when the vampire's voice broke through. After coming face to face with the ranch-owner's rather intimidating brother, walking through that city, one couldn't blame her for being a little skittish. "I suppose a visit wouldn't hurt. I can better explain these." She holds out the bundle, smelling of dried ink, linen, metal, and magic for those with a heightened nose for things. "Your delivery. It took me some finding and visits to a few healers, but I managed some trinkets to help your practice." She moved aside to let Artia lead the way inside, if she was still so inclined.

Artia had to laugh at the way Celaeno jumped when she talked, Artia being one of those type of people that loved to laugh. "You are always welcome to visit, Celaeno. I do like you, and would consider you a friend. My friends are always welcome to my ranch, sometimes I leave it unlocked if I have cooked so my friends can come by for a quick bite or crash the couch. Even warm by the pearl fire place, if you haven't seen it yet...it is rather huge, almost takes up a wall. But, I like it that way it produces more heat for the ranch." The bundle she carries catches her sense of smell, smelling the dried ink, linen, metal with a hint of magic. Being such a powerful witch, she would catch the scent. "Oh, you definitly deserve a meal and a drink on me then for making my order. I also might have a job for you. " Moving inside, allowing Celaeno to follow before she closed the door. Moving straight from the foyer was her kitchen, "Please sit, and get ready to present my order to me. What type of drink would you like?" Moving to the cooler box, to puller out various meats and cheeses, next reaching into a bread cabinet to pull out breads for her picking.

Celaeno followed the surgeon into her home. Lush as it was, her eyes couldn't help but wander, especially when peeking from the foyer toward the livingroom. She would end up in the kitchen though, tearing her gaze away from the book shelves, and sat as directed into the nearest seat offered. She unwraps the bundle from her lap, exposing the more of those wound-sealing bandages Artia had seen previously. "Water would be fine. As for the order...I made more of these." She unwraps those from a pile of a few sheathed butcher knives and scalpels. She lifts one of the knives, taking it out from its improvised fabric sheath and holding the glowing runes engraved upon the blade up for Artia's inspection. It earned a pensive stare before she forces the momentary haze away to explain. "This is the cauterizing knife I mentioned. It slices cleanly through even bone in one swipe and burns over the leftover flesh. Less mess, but it is a vivid pain, so I still recommend gagging the patient. I..can tell you first hand it heals clean."

Artia grabbed a cup of water, the cup being enchanted so the water would become icy cold. Placing the glass in front of Celaeno, as she sat down across from her. Seeing more of those bandages Artia had put good use to at the Sickbay, eyeballing the butcher knives and scalpels. Staring at the knife she took out to show it to Artia, lifting a brow at the glowing runes engraved upon the blade. Taking it ever carefully from Celaeno, even those sheathed she wanted to take extra precaution. "It is a beautiful work of art, you are very talented, Celaeno." Pausing as she thought more, "Through bone in one swipe, and cauterizes all at the same time? That really does help with all the blood mess that happens, and in one slice done. It would quicken up my work dramatically. I usually put the patient under, or numb them."

"A sedative does sound like a better alternative. I imagine it must be a shock to wake up from that, though." She bites her lip, guilt nagging at her some. Here the vampire had welcomed her into her home without a thought and she was still keeping obvious secrets. The enchanter was just as careful, exchanging the bundle of four butcher knives for the water. When the water came cold, she looked over its container, a craftswoman through and through in that regard. She took a sip, though and turned her attention toward her left gauntlet. She reaches under it, loosening the leather harness underneath that held it on. "The um...there was occasion where the same kind of knife was used on me." She removes the gauntlet and exposes the rounded off wrist lacking a fleshly hand, the finer details covered in a black stocking. "If you need and example to study of how it heals over, it's an old wound so I'm fine showing you."

Artia smirks, "I always ask first, and I have patients signing consent forms to treat now too. Got to always play it smart." Tilting her head at the lip bite, obviously something happened to the poor halfling. The smirk growing into a wide smile as Celaeno admiring and looked about the glass. On the bottom of the glass itched in gold runes to keep the enchantments. But the smile fades as she brought up how the knife was used on her, "Oh that is a shameful thing to operate on someone without them consenting to what was going to happen, unless it was in dire life of death situation. Hearing the sounds of the female loosening a harness under the table made her almost go on the defense, but then to see the female meant nothing other than to display. "If you are truly okay with it, I would not mind."

Celaeno couldn't help but snicker a bit at Artia's judicious use of legal documents. "You are savvier than any other healer I've met." Back to the arm, though and she starts to slide off the stocking covering it. The open air tingled against her skin at first, since she kept it covered most of the time. "It was a ritual my old mentor needed them for. I've since been rid of him, and found a way to thrive despite it." She offers her naked forearm to Artia to examine. The skin had smoothed over as it healed, for the most part, though burn scars still coat the blunt end at her wrist. "I had to care for the burn after, of course, but I imagine treating that is better than dealing with all that blood loss."

Artia winks, "Well, I am a doctor surgeon type. So, I prefer to get signatures before I treat someone, or get verbal agreement from those around that are friends or family of those around the injured person. It is better to be safe than sorry, but if no one is around and I can't get someone to okay it. I usually offer gold and pay someone to help attend to the person til they are ready to be on their own. I am an oddity among healers I suppose. "Looking at the arm, "You shouldn't always keep it covered, it will keep the skin soft and pron to damage or bacterial. Make sure you uncover it twice a day okay?" She just couldn't help herself with medical advice. "I am very proud of you to find a way to thrive so many just give up when they lose a limb. I am sure you had to care for the burns, I usually use like an lotion ointment the dries like a powder."

Celaeno nods along with Artia's medical advice, making a mental note to add another washing to her daily regimen. "Yes, I will do that, Miss Artia." She tugs the stocking back on and straps her gauntlet back into place. The runes glow back to life when reattached and she flexes the metal fingers to establish the connection. "I have commissioned a tattoo from Miss Meri in town. My plan is to have an energy-based prosthesis as a backup so I don't have to rely so much on these. They do fall off sometimes." Her attention did turn to the scalpels, though, ten in all as she lifted one up. The runes around this one was concentrated around the handle, mostly, though small ones were on the blade under its small sheath. "This one was trickier to improve upon, but I think I managed. While it won't cut through bone, it slices consistently through tissue like muscle that tents to be tougher. I also made sure it wouldn't lose its edge, as the few I talked to complained about these dulling after so much time." She presented all of her crafts for Artia's inspection as she took another sip of her drink. "I hope you can find a use for them."

Artia watches as she placed the gauntlet back on to her arm, "Seek out Alvina, she can make you a metal piece instead of having that if you like." Speaking of Meri she smiled widely, pointing to the foreget me not tattoo drapped about her neck, "She did this tattoo, and then one on my cage down to my hip. She is an amazing artist, and only person I would go to for ink." Quietly observing again, "You have wonderful work, but I have a reason why I commission you..but of course I can find a use for each one." Letting her that her sip before she spoke again, "I am getting a healing group together that heals people for free, would you be willing to work in our little group as the one to make our medical tools?"

Celaeno 's brows go up at the proposition and her grin widens. "I would definitely do my best. Being that I usually augment things, I would need to get my hands on base supplies, first, but I'm supposed to be working in a bakery soon enough, once the building is finished. I can put that income to good use, I'm sure." She files the smith's name in the back of her mind for later, since she did still have a sentimental attachment to her hands and wouldn't want to retire that pair just yet. "Please let me know when you all might need something and I will get to work!" She glances toward the window, noticing the time of day it was. She would only have so much time left for her errands. She was getting busy lately. "My thanks for the drink and the opportunity Miss Artia. For now, I must take my leave. Rest well." She gestures toward the bloodstains still coating the other woman's clothes. "You look like you need it."
