RP:Withered Vines

From HollowWiki

Summary: Emilia and Kailani have a quick chat and the druid is sent on a search for some withered vines, except maybe Emilia can’t quite correctly recall their location. Whoops.

Public Gardens

Kailani’s current direction of travel was taking her from the beach that lay just west of here and leading her back toward the gardens. It made sense, the hour was getting late and the sun was almost completely gone and the druid was starting to get sleepy. There was a certain appeal to camping out on the beach, but even a place such as Chartsend was too populated for her liking. And she knew it would not be wise to trust everyone to leave her to rest on the beach undisturbed. Kailani was not traveling alone. She once again had in her company a certain young blue dragon. Emilia has met Aspen before, but he was considerably smaller than. Small enough that he could and did comfortable crawl and climb all over both Kailani and Emilia. The young blue was too large for that now. Not large enough to ride, but too large to be able to perform the same rambunctious antics that he is used to. When Aspen’s neck is fully stretched, his highest height is still just below Kailani’s hip...and the druid is not exactly a tall woman. Average height. The point is, the dragon still has a lot of growing to do. Despite his small size, both the blue haired druid and her young dragon are earning quite a few stares as they travel from the beach and through the sparsely occupied gardens.

Emilia laid on her stomach on a blanket spread out over a small space of the garden. The Genasi rarely managed to have a moment of peace or time to herself since the birth of the twins, but this day Irenic had taken all five of the children for the day. Of all the places the healer could go she found herself in the among the trees with a view of the beach from a location as far away as one could get while still maintaining the view. Laid out on the blanket before the white woman lay a large book bound in old leather with pages long yellowed. In one hand an apple that was half eaten while the other faintly followed the line of text with a finger across the page. It was as she turned it that her gaze lifted long enough to catch sight of the blue dragon with her blue haired companion. A smile crossed over blue lips as the Genasi slowly sat up while waving with her apple holding hand, “Hello Dear.”

Kailani gives pause when she spies Emilia for several reasons. The first being the most obvious, she recognizes that ice genasi! The second being, Emilia definitely looks a little bit less pregnant compared to the last time that Kailani saw her. This is to be expected, this is how things go, no one wants to be pregnant forever. That doesn’t make it any less of a surprise to the blue haired woman. Once this initial shock passes, both the half elf and her dragon companion approach Emilia. As Kailani’s steps bring her over to Emilia’s blanket, a smile eases slowly across the reclusive druid’s lips. Aspen seems excited to see Emilia again and is quite intent on displaying such, despite having to be considerably more mindful of his increasing size. The dragon still manages his best attempt at a bit of flirtatious cuteness with Emilia. Please pay attention to me, icy lady. His attempt at cute includes getting all the way down onto his belly once he is at the edges of Emilia’s blanket and then rolling onto his back, more like a cat than a dog who was actually presenting his belly for scratches. Though unlike a cat, if Emilia does try and give Aspen’s belly a pet, her hand will be safe. Kai just smiles and lets the dragon carry on, for it was pretty much harmless behavior. “Hello, Emilia. I feel like it has been too long since I have seen you. How are you? How is Irenic? And the children?” Kai resisted asking outright about the pregnancy and the birthing. Just in case. She was hoping everything went well though and that Emilia had healthy babies!

Emilia beamed a smile from ear to ear as both Kailani and her little blue came over to visit. The apple was sat down atop a basket off to one side before she slipped a bookmark in the book and closed it. The frosty woman was back to her prepregnancy weight. That is to say that the healer was too skinny by most standards with no outward signs her belly had been huge only months ago. Silver-blue dark circles under her eyes from a lack of sleep the only visible tell tale sign she had not been sleeping with newborns in her life. Aspen’s attempts to swoon the attention of the Genasi was easily won over. Her chilled hand falling to give the blue all the belly rubs that she wanted. Her gaze lifted to the woman while she loved on Aspen, “I have not much left the farm since the birth of the twins. They were cut out as the year ended and as it changed by Penelope. Healthy little things with lungs for days. Irenic is doing well. He is through the moon with happiness. The triplets are adjusting to being big siblings. Liam thinks helping with the twins will win him all the ladies.” A gentle laugh escaped the lips of the healer after her brief recap of life as of recent on her side. Attention back to the dragon, “Will not be long and you will be bigger than my dragons,” a reference to her triplets. Then her gaze was back to the half elf, “And how are you?’

Kailani :: While Kai liked children as far as she was aware, the druid has really not been around many. Much of what Emilia was explaining to her was hard for the druid to relate to. The older kids having to adjust to the younger? It was just something the half-elf could never know. What she could understand is that the giving birth to the twins must have been a very painful process, if Penelope had to cut them out. Hearing this causes Kailani to wrinkle her nose. Yet, she speaks highly and fondly of the druidic witch, “At least you had Penelope there. I would not want anyone else to be there, were that me.” Kai frowns for a moment before declaring, “I really should pay Penelope a visit. It’s been a long time.” As belly rubs were not really Aspen’s interest, the dragon does not stay in that position for long. He soon rolls back onto his belly and begins to sniff. Of course, sniffing for a reptilian creature involves the use of that forked tongue. It is obvious that the young dragon can probably sense that Emilia has dragon children of her own. He’s curious. Plus, as a blue there is a high probability that he breathes ice over fire. “I am glad to hear that you and yours are doing well though. It looks like you have been recovering smoothly and are back in good health.” As Kai goes on, a smile again begins to form across her lips, trying her best to present a positive attitude as she states the following, “I’m good. Aspen and I are alive and healthy, so I suppose that is all I can really ask for, right?”

Emilia shifted to dig out a bowl of partly frozen mixed berries from her basket after Aspen had lost interest in the belly rubs. Setting the bowl down the healer pushed it toward the blue dragon offering it some treats. Much like the land of children was a foreign world to the half elf the land of blue dragon-dragons was mysterious to the healer. Berries might not be what he was looking for, but it was what the woman carried in her travels. Berries, apples, and water. “It was definitely much easier to have Penelope there to cut them out. Irenic would not have done well if he had to do it nor assist me in doing it myself if. I have not seen her in a while either. I hope she is well.” Shifting the healer started to pack up her items back into basket. It was getting late enough that reading here was no longer a prime option and returning home would be in the near future for the mother of five. Standing the little woman stretched out before dusting her hands off on her dress. “Being alive and healthy are two things I find to be of importance. Is there anything I can do to help beyond those two things?”

Kailani :: Was there anything that Emilia could do to help beyond those two things? The question caught Kailani off guard. “No, I should think not. You’ve done plenty by just being you and making for enjoyable conversation.” Kailani issues a smile again. “But if there is anything that I could ever help you or the guild with, then please don’t hesitate to let me know, yes?” If there was something that Kailani needed help with, it was taking her mind off of whatever personal problems the druid was having. Back to Penelope. Hearing that Emilia has not seen her as of late only furthers Kailani’s resolve. “I will pay her a visit then. I have always enjoyed her company and it may do me some good to travel out of Venturil for awhile.” Kai shifts her gaze up to the darkening sky, considering how long she has actually been stationary within these lands. Longer than normal, maybe longer than welcome. Berries were not what Aspen was looking for but since they were offered, berries would be eaten. Aspen is used to getting scraps of raw meat, but he has at least learned to not take off fingers in the process. It becomes apparent pretty quickly that the dragon is not fond of his treat and he struggles to dislodge the remains of the berries from his mouth rather than eating them. Reptiles. Kailani can’t help but smirk. “Anyways. It is getting late. I am sure your family will soon be wondering where you are. Please don’t let me keep you from them.”

Emilia was most definitely used to her diet being lack luster to others watching Aspen take the treat while not as excitedly as the healer enjoyed them. The bowl then the blanket was packed up while the Genasi listened to Kail. Blanket over her should and basket hanging from her elbow the frosty one smiled, “I believe Miss Penelope would love a visit from you. If you happen to be going to the Sage area on your trip to visit her and have some spare time...” a pause as the healer turned away to politely sneeze in her empty elbow away from both half elf and dragon alike. Continuing her previous thought after two more sneezes, “I vaguely remember that there used to be some withered vines that could be found in the forest. I could use some for the farm if you find any. I would gladly be willing to sport any funds needed for the trip and for the job.” A happy yet contemplating smile flashed across her blue lips. Was that the right area the vines were found? The healer couldn’t be fully sure if she had remembered right. Lack of sleep was taking its toll on her brain lately. Still a bright smile followed with her next sentence to Kailani, “A run in with you today had made my day in more way than you might guess. It was a pleasure to see you and I hope to see you again soon, but you are right I should be heading back to the farm. Oinkers of all the ones waiting at home gets the most worried when I am gone.”

Kailani steps back and out of the way when Emilia begins to pack up, encouraging the dragon to give her space as well. He was the one who would be the more likely of the two to slow Emilia’s endeavors to leave down, probably by stepping all over the blanket. Kai prevents this young. The half elf considers the request. Were there vines in that area? Was Emilia remembering correctly? The druid considers if she has ever seen any….The druid and the dragon may just end up getting a little lost on the search for these vines. Another smile is cast toward Emilia before the woman departs for the night, “Take care. I hope I will see you soon. Tell Oinkers I said hello.” Kai remembers meeting the pig, yes. Emilia is left to go on her way while Kai...ends up turning back to the beach. Maybe sleeping there wouldn’t be so bad afterall. ‘Home’ was such a far haul anyway. Aspen would be a great guard dragon, right?
