Summary: Twitch and Sidd have their first true meeting. AKA How Sidd got his black eye.

Lucy's Crossing

Twitch was having a very bad day. She'd tried to steal outside of her master's territories again, since she hadn't been coming up with enough loot to satisfy him, and the competition had taken notice. Now, she was cornered in an alleyway, trembling as a group of a half dozen thugs threatened her, holding clubs and knives and cudgels. One even had a sword, which was showing its age in rust. "I-i-i'm sorry! I-i-it won't happen a-a-again! P-p-please no!" No amount of speed would be enough for her to flee, and she was no mighty fighter. This was indeed a dark situation for the little fermin.

Sidd was out for a stroll, luckily for Twitch. He was cleaner than the night prior, but he still dressed like a hooligan; Dirty torn pants, worn out boots and a black loose fitting shirt with the sleeves torn off. In his hand he had his stick. That large hunk of club-like wood had become his only friend in this strange new world. It was the sound of innocent pleading and the commotion of a few unruly locals that stole the human's attention, causing Sidd to turn into that very alleyway where a soon to be mob lynching was taking place. He observed at first, from a distance, until he figured out what was going on. There were quite a few players in this scenario and if he stepped in he would probably get his ass beat- or worse. Still, better than being a damn coward and doing nothing, right? "Oi. How about pickin' on someone your own size, ya bunch of pricks?" As cliche an opener as one could give.

Twitch heard the voice, and swore it was one she recognized. The men turned, one and all, and Twitch took the chance to stealthily slip away, in a shadow... was she leaving the poor man to deal with the hooligans all on his own?! What a deviant little opportunist! One of the men turned back only to find that she was gone, and swore. "Listen, guy. Do you have any idea how long it took to find that little rat? We're going to tear you apart for the trouble you've caused us." They all seemed to be in agreement, as they advanced on Sidd, brandishing their weapons. The closest one charged in at him, roaring and swinging a club at his face. Hard.

Sidd was not stranger to a good ol' fashioned beat down. Hardly. The amount of times he and the boys would go out and get loaded, only to end up in a drunken brawl was far too many to count. At least this time he was sober. A swing and a miss for that first guy! Sidd ducked out of the way, quickly using his own club to take out the first assailant's knee. Maximum damage, no kills. That's the goal. "Look guys, I'm sure we can work this out, yeah? We don't have to do this. Whatever they did, it can't be worth a friggin' lynching."

Twitch wasn't gone, not really. She was up above now though, in an advantageous position, thanking her good graces for what luck afforded her this day in a companion... someone to take all the punches to the face so she could do what she did best... besides running away. She took out her crossbow, loaded with bolts armed with sleeping agents, and took aim. The mob rushed Sidd, grunting, growling, taunting and outright yelling at him, saying all sorts of things that they should be ashamed of saying in public. Or at all. The attack was fierce, but there were yelps and howls from among their number, then two of the men staggered and went down, clutching at small bolts in their legs and hips, slipping to the ground, then falling unconscious.

Sidd thought he should run, at first. Maybe being a coward was a good idea. Then again, he knew nothing of the area. These guys were probably local and knew the streets like the back of their hands. It was now or never, Siddy. A good old snap to eye socket brought the male back to the current situation as one of the assailants managed to get his fist in there. In turn the mohawked vagrant rushed that same perpetrator and grabbed the bottom of his shirt, pulling it up and over his head, soon placing the guy in a forward chokehold, while simultaneously offering a few return punches to the ribs. With a bit of an advantage over this particular aggressor, Sidd used him as a bit of a shield, trying to keep the others at bay. "Oh you bastard!" he cried out as another of the club wielding thugs struck him on the shoulder. Suddenly as two of the posse went down, Sidd pushed the one he had been holding back into his remaining companions, quickly arming himself with his stick, ready for a second wind up.

Twitch worked her way from the back, to keep them from noticing what was happening, until it was too late. Sidd provided a hell of a distraction... the man was an experienced brawler, and held his own despite the odds, a credit to his bravery. Twitch found herself admiring him... she couldn't think of a fermin beyond her family who'd ever face such odds and fight. Not one that wasn't a bloodthirsty sociopath, anyway. She picked off a third, and then was noticed. "Sniper! The damn rat is sniping us! Get her!" They threw rocks at her, but none had a real weapon for the situation they now faced. She felt one hit her temple, and squeaked in pain, blood spilling into her vision, but she grit her teeth and sniped another. This man risked his life, and helped her... she wasn't sure that he had done so to help her, but she wouldn't leave him to his fate. There were only two left now, which was good, because Twitch might not be able to hit another, with her vision all muddied with blood.

Sidd thought Twitch took off at first... for the second time. At least the last time she had flown the coop, the talking crab man was friendly! This time, he figured she has left him to his own funeral. But there she was, backing him up and helping out. With the others distracted, Sidd took advantage as fast as possible. The stick in hand was held in a batters stance and he stepped up behind one of the thugs with a vicious swing that connected to the back of the guy's head. A sickening crack rang out and the stick splintered. So much for that! You served well, wooden friend. Just as the remaining trouble maker turned around, he would be met with Sidd's fist in his face. The young human quickly grabbed onto the front of the thug's shirt and fed him a few more swift punches as he pushed him up against the side of a building. It wouldn't take long before the guy was unconscious, the finishing move in the form of a big glob of spit strewn across his face. "Piss ant." Sidd finally raised his gaze and looked for Twitch, checking to see if she were still around. "YO! You alright? These chumps are out. It's safe!"

Twitch was dangling from the ledge she'd sniped from, upside down, half her body hanging over it. "N-n-n-no, I don't w-w-wanna wake up, I w-w-wanna stay in bed a-a-a-all daaaaay." She seemed to be totally unconscious, arms dangling down past her head, and blood steadily dripping down her long, dark blue hair. Looks like that hit to the head was rough on her... she'd managed to get another shot off before she passed out, though!

Sidd was concerned she might've been dead, until that comical bit of vocalization. He had to make sure, though. It took some time but he would finally find a way up to her level! As he neared however, Sidd stopped, one brow lifted high in a quizzical manner. He had never seen a fermin before and it caught him off guard. "Whoa." he spit out after a moment of silent observation. "Please tell me you hang out with talking turtles." That statement was obviously to himself, as she was out cold. Sidd knelt down and carefully touched Twitch, moving her head slightly to look at the wound inflected by those unruly lowlife's. Didn't appear too deep. Superficial. But the blow was enough to put her out, it seemed. "Heey. Heey. You. You still breathing there? " He asked, shaking the Fermin's shoulder lightly.

Twitch wore nothing but her open jacket, which was worn, frayed. The buttons didn't clasp, leaving her front exposed... the inside swells of her breasts, along with her naval, all covered with a downy fur which proved capable of preserving most of her modesty. She snapped out of her trance, though she wasn't quite fine. "Wow, a-a-are you triplets? Y-y-you're handsome f-f-fella's, yes yes yes." She shook her head a bit, and rubbed the blood from her eye. "Do I know y-y-you?" Her eyes snapped open as she realized he'd helped her in the fight. "Oh, ah. Ah. H-h-hi! I'm, uh... T-t-t-twitch! Please don't h-h-hurt me! I'm sorry y-y-you got dragged into t-t-that mess!"

Sidd laughed out loud as Twitch pleaded, two fingers lifted in the shape of a V. "Hurt you? Nah, chiquita. I come in peace. No worries, really. I don't care for mob mentality, many on one crap. Not cool. Glad you're okay, though. You got wanged on the head pretty good- Probably concussed, but I'm guessin' you'll be fine. I'd still see a healer type though." Sidd was still a bit awestruck at the sight of a genuine humanoid rat-person, so he was staring a little. "You're that same person that was around last night, eh? When crab man showed up on his crazy ride? Well, nice to meet ya. Twitch? Hah, cool name. I'm Sidd." A hand was extended in offering, a polite gesture.

Twitch didn't know what to do with the hand when he extended it. At first, she flinched, thinking he was going to hit her. But he didn't, so, curious, she sniffed it. He said such nice words... maybe she could trust him? She had big, doe eyes, that looked up at him, pleading. Hoping he was really being nice. "Last n-n-night? Oh, yes. Yes yes yes. That was m-m-m-me. Sorry, I was v-v-very scared. That was so s-s-strange, the crab man and his... f-f-friends." She didn't like the idea of 'pets'. She'd been kept as one, though her role as a 'pet' differed wildly from the norm. Brutally. "S-s-sidd. That's a nice n-n-name. H-h-healers won't heal f-f-fermin. I'll be ok." They weren't people, after all. They were just rats, to real people.

Sidd didn't really know much of the reputation the fermin had in this land, so of course he would look completely dumbfounded as Twitch commented on healer's preferences. "What? Really? That's lame. What a bunch of asshats." Another chuckle escaped his lips as he then added, "Yeah, I was pretty scared, too. You never know what in the hell wants to eat ya around here, apparently." Sidd finally erected himself and took a look out over the horizon, a friendly smile holding steady over his features. After a moment, he looked to Twitch and said, "Anyway, if you're sure you're going to be okay, I gotta jet. I have to go see someone about a bit of business. Try to stay outta trouble, yeah? If ya ever need anything, you can find me out here in Larket, or maybe Rynvale if you ever get out that way. Been doing some jobs out there. Until next time, chiquita!" A friendly salute was issued and Sidd lowered himself to the edge of the rooftop, hanging off the side. His exit sure as hell wasn't graceful, as he dropped straight down and ended up falling onto his ass. A hearty laugh could be heard and soon he was up on his feet and heading south to keep his meeting.
