RP:Training with Redovian

From HollowWiki

Redovian appears from the western path, the paladin's form garbed in the white leather and furs of Frostmaw. Strapped to his back is the zanbato, the massive blade gleaming in the light of the snow covered kingdom. He spots Satoshi, nightblue eyes peering out from beneath the white hood. His voice calls out, strength evidently regained. " Queen Satoshi." He offers a bow of respect. " I cannot find your husband, and we were to begin trianing this day."

Satoshi turns at the hailing, barely masking a flinch as her injured knee protests the motion, and salutes the paladin after giving his newly clad self a once over. The furs and leathers of Frostmaw certainly fit the man better than the ragged, bloody bandages he introduced himself in days ago, but now it's the kit's turn to be the bandages one. Most of the bindings are hidden beneath her coat where her left arm, right knee, and torso have been heavily wrapped, but the left side of her face can't be easily masked and sports a long strip of linen plastered over a deep gash on her cheek. Still, the magus acts oblivious to the wounds as she waves the paladin over with a laugh. "He's tending to a wounded shoulder, and a wayward fledgeling, at the moment. What sort of training were you planning?"

Redovian is a damn keen observer, of several things. So the wounds are indeed noted, but so is the oblivious manner in which she acts. The paladin knows this too well, and thus says nothing in regards to the gash and other wounds. " Combat, your highness. I wish to reach new heights, expand my abilities so I may protect the innocent, and defeat the wraiths of the timelord."

Satoshi rocks back on her heels in a casual motion, whistling. "Well~, I'm not my husband, nor a wraith, but I have had some success when it comes to training with others. Care to dance with a blizzard, Cyrisling~?" The kit whistles again and gives a playful twitch of her quartet of tails, clearly in a good mood despite--or because--of her well-earned injuries.

Redovian eyes the ice magus and smiles. Always one to enjoy a challenge. And with Satoshi, well, it could mean life or death, expecially when she is in a good mood. " I do love to dance. " Says the paladin, as he draws forth the massive zanbato from its sheath upon his broad back, saying as he assume a defensive posture. " I was told the ladies always lead." Again, another flash of a smile.

Satoshi gives a dulcet laugh as she dances backwards to a comfortable distance from the paladin and his lengthy weapon. "I do love a man that's good with words and dance alike~. I just hope your sword is as keenly skilled." With that, the magus begins to hum, her melody calling upon the snow gathered heavily around her and willing it upward to claim the shape of a direwolf. The frosty beast bares its fangs in a silent snarl then as broad shoulders hunch in preparation to strike, before it's form uncoils swift as a whipcrack and is sent hurtling at the paladin in a violent lunge of tooth and claw. The behemoth wolf's intent is to latch powerful jaws around the man's sword and use its dense weight to drag Redovian off his feet, all in a straightforward and almost too obvious of an attack. Which might be the paladin's only giveaway to Satoshi's actual intentions, for she's also fought the wraiths and knows of their tendency to attack from behind. Which is exactly what she's doing now, as a bear formed of ice rears up behind Redovian and swipes out at his back with two massive paws in the same instant the wolf reaches its target.

Redovian smirks as he watches the creation of the wolf, and seems unaware as he stands still as the beast lunges forth. But, as previously stated, the paladin is a keen observer. He too, has faught wraiths. And with a slight shift of his frame, the acolyte of Cyris waits for the right moment to strike. Which comes in the moments before he would be evicerated by the ice bear and snow wolf's double team attacks. With a skill that could show Satoshi why her husband was impressed with the man, Redovian pivots about, dragging the zanbato around in a flurry of martial prowess. The blade moves in a blur, as the paladin watches wolf and bear collide, before the man slices the wolf clean in half, then with impressive strength, buries his sword to the hilt into the face of the bear before the contruct could recover. Being a creation, and not a living thing, the bear lives. But. Redovian is not finish, twisting the blade, the pulls it free, before once more twisting his head about, and cleaving the head from the beast. Once completed, the paladin turns back to face Satoshi, the man once again adopting a defensive posture.

Satoshi nods in...approval? at the destruction of her two creations. Kasyr hadn't been lying when he said the paladin was promising, and that much has been proven. But there's more to fighting wraiths, and Satoshi, than double-team attacks, as she's about to prove to Redovian. A haunting whistle escapes her lips then, an arcane melody that transforms the very ground the paladin stands upon. In his immediate area the snow is reborn into a myriad of glacial snakes that writhe and hiss around his feet, many uncoiling with liquid grace as they rear up to snap at his legs in quicksilver strikes, desiring to break his flesh and inject their icy venom into his veins--a chilling substance that seeks out joints and vital muscles to sap their heat and thus their strength, effectively crippling movement. And should Redovian choose to escape this frozen viper pit, he'll have to cross the ragged ring of icy stagamites that jut up and inward as a threatening border around it. Satoshi has never been one to play gently in a training session, else she wouldn't be wearing all these bandages currently.

Redovian answers in kind to the sudden emergance of the viper pit, but showing Satoshi exactly why he was the chosen champion of Cyris, and why he hated defeated a wraith when so many others had failed. Taking his zanbato into both hands, the crusader slams the blade down into the frozen earth that surrounds him. Just as the ice serpents unleash a volley of dangerous strikes, Redovian unleashes the power he possesses. Holy Fire. It erupts from his blade in a sphere of tremendous power, devouring the serpents is the divine power of the patron god of freedom and independance. The eruption of the divine flame leaves Redovian in a crater of sorts, caused by his own power. The paladin looks up, and says. " Queen Satoshi, please do not hold back!"

Satoshi inaccurately hisses, "Hellfire!" in reaction to the fiery death of her serpents, taking an instinctive step back from the despised element as her arm comes up reflexively to guard her face. From behind her arm, the kit can be heard singing in a voice soft and sibilant, a song to the melted snows pooling around Redovian's feet. In response the slush melts and the waters begin to dance, swishing and swirling in a steadily building tempo as tendrils rise from their surface in a writhing ring surrounding the paladin. A shift in Satoshi's tune announces the onslaught of the watery tentacles, they dance becoming a wild thrashing with only one intent and purpose: smash the man at the center of the pool. Even if he chooses to strike with the same technique as earlier, Satoshi's prepared for it this time around, as is evident by the switch from pure ice to water, for waters enchanted by the cryomancer are unnaturally cold, and even warm water in Frostmaw's unyeilding environment is a dangerous and crippling thing. Destroying the pool and the tendrils will stop the man from getting battered, but it will do little to halt the downpour of frigid liquid that will ensue should the spell's components be interrupted.

Redovian watches as the snow magus unleashes another devious spell, the paladin reacts by leaping into the air, his foot leaving the ground just as the pool would begin to churn. The leap is indeed tremendous, zanbato brought forth is a wide arc as the paladin lunges forth towards the mancer. Sword brought up, holy fire sheathing the blade, Redovian sends forth a wave of the dangerous element towards the Queen of Frostmaw. Knowing the woman will dodge such a straightforward attack, the paladin aims to close the distance and deliver a calculated and precise blow towards Satoshi's midsection, hoping for her to draw out her own blade to parry.

Satoshi's numerous training sessions with Kasyr pay off in that moment of Redovian's aerial assault, an attack style similar to one she'd face the night prior--the same one that had earned her the collection of cuts across her stomach. Despite a knee lancing with redhot pain at the slightest of movements, the vixen drops into a crouch and plunges her hands into the freezing waters, singing out a command even as she launches herself with vampiric strength upward in a headlong leap into the holy flames. Suicidal it may seem for a vampiric cryomancer to charge willingly into Holy Fire, but Satoshi isn't going in unarmed... or rather, unarmored, for the waters she's called up have crept along her form and solified into a glossy sheathe of ice encasing her entirely. The meeting of divine flame and spelled ice is an explosive one, steam erupting into a thick, choking cloud bred of fire's extinguishing and ice's melting. And from out of that blanket of mist bursts the foxkin, her momentum hardly slowed when plunging through the flames although her glacial armor remains clinging in only small patches, while grasped within her hand is Ko'tar. The frozen katana sings in a high piercing voice as it's brought forward across Satoshi's body and used to clash against Redovian's own blade in a violent collision of opposing lunges. The impact alone is enough to tear open anew the long gash coursing down Satoshi's arm, tearing a cry from her lips, but the kit still takes a cheap shot at Redovian--that being a knee seeking that delicate spot between his legs--before gravity can drag them both back to earth. Unfortunately, attempts at that low blow leave Satoshi with no time to disengage from the paladin, which will leave her in an unsavory position beneath him, blades locked, upon reaching the ground.

Redovian can feel the power the vampire has, as their blades clash causing sparks to fly. Neither is willing to relent, and as the woman goes for the low blow, Redovian would send forth a vicious blow in kind, as his head is sent forth to collide with the ice magus'. As the pair land upon the ground, another crater is made in their wake. Thus begins a dangerous dance of blades, as katana meets zanbato over and over again.

Satoshi finds her vision obscured by blood pouring from the gash across her forehead where Redovian's own had slammed against and split it. Anxious keens come from the fox's blade where her blood drips upon its smooth surface, and with a lilting hiss Satoshi shoves herself away from the paladin. She's no swordsman, and knows better than to stay locked in bladed combat with a man much bigger and stronger than herself while half-blind, especially when he wields a sword that outreaches Ko'tar. Dancing back and favoring her uninjured leg, Satoshi takes refuge upon one of the snowbanks lining the road to recuperate by means of a whispered lyric freezing her wounds closed to stop the distracting bleeding momentarily while drawing away the already spilt blood to pool within her palm. Redovian is given a scrutinizing look in that moment as the magus straightens, the blood in her hand congealing as it flows toward the ground only to stop inches from contact, coming to rest in the form of a half-frozen whip. Smirking, Satoshi's arm lashes out to send the conjured whip cracking for the paladin's face, and while she may not have any skill in using such a weapon... she hardly needs it, considering it's formed by her magic, and each musical word she utters bends its movements to her will to inflict Redovian with a brutal barrage of frigid blood.
